tonight, Vikings / Cowboys

so the Vikes hold a 10-3 lead late into the 4th quarter. Dull, but solidly played game. You don't care if J.T. I suck again, er, JT O'Sullivan gives the game away because he does suck, you expect it, and its JUST PRESEASON FOOTBALL.

Ok, well, he didn't lose the game, but the cowboys get the ball for the final drive and march down and score a touchdown with like 15 seconds left.

that makes the score 10-9.

NOW, what next?

Obvious. Go for two points to either win or lose the game. Let's get it over with and go home.

NOT EXACTLY.

in a strange twist of fate....the Tuna (Bill Parcells) decides to kick the extra point and go into OT.

WTF? LEt's GO HOME!

ARGH!

well, maybe Parcells wanted to make a point with his players or something. Anyways, they kick the point and here we are 10-10 tied going into OVERTIME.

DID I MENTION THIS IS PRESEASON FOOTBALL?

Ah, so the Vikes win the coin toss.

Well, let's not forget. JT "I sucked again" is the QB. They didn't want to put Mike McMahon out there to suck even more than he already has all preseason. How did Lions fans and Eagles fans ever tolerate McMahon in their uniforms? The boy can barely complete 40% of his passes! Anyways, back to "I sucked again".

At this point we don't know if any of the Vikings QB's on the field know that the Vikes literally hours before traded for yet another QB....Brooks Bollinger of the Jets.

So I am thinking...oh crap.

Either I suck again knows he's out of the lineup and just to punish everyone in God's creation, decides 'I think I am going to go out there and SUCK AGAIN', just to spite....OR he honestly at this point still thinks he has an outside shot at the number 3 QB spot on the roster and decides he needs to GO FOR IT and play like he's fighting to wina spot on an arena league team or something.

SO, needless to say he sucks big time and Vikes are inept on offense. Dallas gets the ball back right away and marches into FG position for the most accurate kicker in NFL history, Mike Vanderjagt, to attempt the game winner....just 3 minutes into OT.. YAY!

well, like the dark ages, a long period of time goes by with much human regression.

we finally move to later in the OT. The Vikes punter pins the Cowboys on their own 2 yard line.

Normally, if you are the cowboys you try to run the ball out of there to get some space from your own goal line.

NOPE! The cowboys try to pass!

IT'S TURKEY SHOOT TIME FOR THE DEFENSE!!!!!

what happened next was painful. The cowboys showed obvious pass on the first two plays and the Vikings got great pass rush. BUT ON THE SECOND PLAY, the DL comes in virtually untouched and reaches out to sack Tony Romo (which would win the game right there with a safety). AND INSTEAD! ARGH spins around and misses the Cowboys QB clean!

MY GOD. they god want us to sit through the whole OT period!

I hope that guy gets cut for missing that sack! It would have been game over right there!!!!!!!!!!!!

so anyways the cowboys start on a long drive. More bad football. The Vikes D is porous and the cowboys make good runs and passes. SO now I am like, they are GONNA LOSE THE GAME!

Now I am caring?????????!?!?!?!?!

no. I just want it to be over.

Tony Romo takes the snap and fires a perfect pass to a receiver streaking to the goal line and he's open. he reaches out his arms to suck in the pass and...and.......

AND>.......on the two yard line........PERFECT STRIKE.......and he......

DROPS THE BALL.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

less than two minutes left. Dallas decides to kill almost all the clock. We thought they were not going to bring out Vanderjagt again. But lo and behold as the clock is ticking down, 12, 11, 10

game over.

2 seconds left and vikes got the ball back and actually tried a pass play.

10-10 tie. I am appalled. A preseason overtime tie.
