That looks very similar to the current Yaris 5-dr hatch available in Europe mixed with the front end off the current Yaris sedan here. I doubt the new Corolla would look that much like it. This might just be concept pics of the Yaris redesign for the European 5 door.

As has been said, it probably isn't the U.S. model. I think it looks pretty good, though. The front end is bold and stands out from any other compact car on the road.

Meh. At least they gave it some design direction for better or for worse, which cannot be said about the current model.

I'm a little surprised they're waiting two more years though. I've noticed many more Mazda3's on the road, and plenty of new Civic's. With fuel prices the way they are, I didn't think being complacent was an option.

ehh, not impressed

Why do all new Toyotas have these hideous snout-like front ends? A year or so ago when they were talking about doing more eye-catching design, this is not what I was expecting. They look like anime characters...Toyota's old vanilla designs at least looked like normal cars. There was a simple elegance to mid-90s Toyotas, but now they're either overwrought or ugly.

Oh c'mon... THIS is what they went back to the drawing board for?

I'm so sick of the Toyota's new front ends looking like they were carved out of soft butter.

I think this is what they went to the drawing board to change for the US...

I hope so--I really cant tolerate another Yaris-Camry-looking thing on the road. Theyre just so freakin ugly.

That quarter window dip is stupid. Also, stop importing cars designed to meet stupid EUROCAP pedestrian regs. We - as a generally better nation - don't require design-inhibiting criteria, so stop.

I know if C&G hates it, odds are it will sell nicely.

You like it?! I showed it to my Toyota loving friend and he couldn't believe how ugly it was.

Ugly.

I guess Ford's styling (currently) is depressed over the lack of sales and Toyota's styling is depressed because of recalls.

Hmmm...Ford + Toyota = A lean, mean slow-selling, recall crazy, ugly baby makin' machine.

In the pic I can barely see anything. And it looks fine to me, the current one is selling and it's far worse looking.

It's a world car so it has to be designed to meet all safety regulations in every part of the world. It makes it much cheaper to produce, as GM is finding out with the Epsilon.

Still doesn't make Europe any less stupid.

toyota is perfectly happy diverting their resources to making more fuel sucking trucks.

let dumbass pedestrians over there take one for the team. don't those morons have crossing guards or teach their little kids in school to look the frick both ways before crossing the street?

they'll sell every one as long as it has that T shaped sombraro on the hood.

I'll have to wait to see what the 4-door we'll get will look like in profile.....otherwise I LOVE the "cute" factor the new Corolla is presenting at least in the front third of the car.

It's kindof a "grown-up" Yaris.

The problem is more with the drivers than with the pedestrians from what I understand.
