The President spoke at a meeting today at the hotel just north of the office building where i work today. Literally a couple hundred feet or less away. The point where they brought him in the building was across from the north side of our floor which I work on. So we spent a good deal of the afternoon waiting to see the motorcade arrive and leave.

He drives into a tent and they close the tent so the general public cannot see what's going on. Personally, I get the feeling they have some Famous Dave's barbeque under the tent that all the security forces and GW were snacking on.

There was less of a visible force than I imagined there would be, but who knows, maybe that just meant they were extremely cleverly camouflaged. The thing about the place where he came to, is heavy wooded, with pathways and hills and such. I am sure it was not an easy scope out for the SS. To top it off, there was lots of construction going on on the roof, which they called off for the day, but no doubt added extra challenges to keep the place secure.

There were 2 Cadillac limos, both with the new DTS grille. ALL of the security forces and law enforcement present had American brand vehicles. Most of the cop and SS cars were crown vics or Tahoe/Suburbans. There was a Durango and some others I can't recall. As much as Toyota is blowing everyone in this country, at least they haven't sucked their way into having the Presidential limo although I suppose they are working on it.

I heard there were protesters in front of our building and the more public side of the building where he came to. I suppose its possible there was more of a military presence out there. They made us stay in our buildng for a couple hours.

I didn't bring my camera today but should have. Some folks got cell phone pics so if I get any of those maybe I could post them.

One of the stops he made later (after raising half a mill on a campaign stop for controversial and ultra conservative Congressional candidate Michele Bachmann) was a custard shop in a well off burb and he posed with teens and shared some custard with them.

The only VIP of that level I've gotten to see was Hillary. I LOATHE her.

She came to Portland to talk health care reform at the beginning of Clinton's administration. She filled up Pioneer Square. Well, of course, given all the Dems (I hate all politicians and parties, BTW), liberals and dykes that live in PDX, the Rose City, is that any wonder? Well, nationalized health care never came to be, did it?

Funny, when I lived in the NW and Bush came to town, protesters were all over the place. These granolafied frumps are so predictable. If granolas are supposedly peace loving, why are they so full of hate? (I mean, I dislike "W" as much as Bill and Hillary, but for different reasons). One time I had enough. At an offramp from I-84 at 42nd, there was an anti-Bush demonstration. As I rounded the corner with the window down, I yelled "Go Bush" (didn't really mean it, but more to see their reaction). This one bearded guy, probably in his 30s, started screaming "F*** you" and other obscenities at me, giving me the finger and shaking his fist. If my car would have been stopped, I am sure there would have been an altercation. Hate seems to unify people doesn't it, as it does with radical Muslims.

Bottom line: all politicians are S-L-I-M-Y. Bill and Hillary keep company with rich Dems, entertainment moguls, famous gay guys and Madonna while carrying on with a shell of a marriage. W and Laura keep company with obnoxiously rich Texans. Six, one half dozen or the other, no?
