and by "their own line" im referring to the family line.

[post="19937"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

OK that wasn't clear in the first post.

If the "norm" is to produce offspring with women, then even the homosexuals tend to do this out of fear of being rejected... case in point Alexander the Great.

Im assuming you dont mean its very common for gay guys to do this. Obviously everything was waaaay different in Alexanders days. But in recent times? Sure it happens, probably more common in previous decades (50's, 60's, 70's) but these days? Edited by CD/BP

Here's what annoys me about this and other controversial issues: when someone has an opinion that others don't find socially acceptable or agree with, they lash out and start throwing insults around. If someone does not agree with homosexuality, doesn't believe it is natural or wants to live their life by God's word, it's their prerogative and vice-versa. Live and let live.

Yeah, im sorry, that was a vague statement.

Culture today is accepting of homosexuals. however in the past... it was not the case.

If that is directed at me, I didn't insult Teh Ricer Civic.

An insult would be something like:

"Wow you have 3 Buggati Veyrons. Your penis must be incredibly small." :) Edited by CD/BP

Theres a difference between some one making a blind lash against something, than someone stating a historical and scientific view (albiet upon further reflection of my post its most likely a flawed one).... one whose only goal is to learn how others think. now i must ask you is it bad that i wish to learn from others by stating something that i know will draw a responce? if i was blinded by faith or however you want to call it like many anti-homosexual groups are, i would most likely have said some rude comment and then gotten into a flaming war.

BUT that is not my goal. Edited by Teh Ricer Civic!

Actually, i wish to retract my previous statement of Natural selection, it has no bearing on this topic whatsoever, and i apologize for any offence this may have caused. I would however like to make a topic about Culture, its affects and consequences if any1 would wish to join

You know, we are going to have to face that can of worms eventually. As the human genome is being mapped, you know that somebody at some point is going to find (if it truly exists) the gay "gene(s)" - and then what? WHOA! Won't that set the ethicists into a tizzy? Political correctness would have us ignore even the search for the truth in a lot of these ethical questions. What if you could have your future son/daughter's embryo screened for the gay gene?

Yes. These days. Marcia's frine Steve dated a married guy for a long time who's wife thought they were best friends while they carried on their affair. She NEVER knew. That makes her a little naive but Steve felt bad when she sent HIM a Christmas Card. (she did their Christmas card list and remembered her husband's best friend) He couldn't stand the guilt anymore.

The part that really sucks? They have a couple kids so if their marrige doesn't survive there's more at stake then just the poor wife's feelings.

It happens more often than you think. If I had ben born gay I might have been pressured to go down that same route since my parents are soooooo conservative that I would have not ben able to gather the courage to tell them. Maybe I would but it would be pretty difficult to have them ever speak to me again. They're very "old school" that way.

My old man is quite a hypocrite though.... he says Lesbians are the lesser of two evils when it comes to homosexuality. Why? Never explains it but I have a feelign it's to make himself fel better about enjoying Lesbian Porn. :rolleyes:

For the record, except for their sexuality Gays are not all that much different from straights. People always try to discern but I've learned through my experience that the gay stereotype is like any other: and exception to the rule. Fo every 1 guy who comes off as really "feminine" I'm sure theere's a few who blend into society unnoticed.

When my family vacationed in Morrocco this guy tried to arrange a marriage with my then-13 year-old sister with his 18-year-old son in exchange for a better price on a rug.  CREEPY

so do gay men generally like, dislike, or ar indifferent to lesbian women.? it seems to me that a lot of your butch lesbian women are quite sensitive and fiesty and you really gotta be careful what you say to them.
Posted

You're crazy....and let me tell you why. Gay people can't continue their own line?? You think gay people breed gay people? Every gay person has come from a straight woman. So if natural selection was to eliminate gay people, straight women would have to be eliminated. That of course would lead to the elimination of the human race.

[post="19933"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

Gay people tend to arrive as the result of heterosexual sex, but I knew one girl in high school whose mother is most certainly lesbian. That she managed to get herself inseminated doesn't make her straight; just as going to afterhours dance clubs doesn't make me gay.

Mules can't get together and make more mules, but they aren't going anywhere soon.
Posted
As far as the "gay people continuing their line" argument goes - EVEN IF that were true, that being gay was entirely genetic, which I don't believe, what about sperm donors and the women who use them? Who says the donor isn't gay? Who says the sperm user isn't a lesbian wanting a baby?
Posted
Regarless of whether or not gay is in fact genetic, there is no reason genetically for it to cease to exist. I am the offspring of two brown haired, brown eyed heterosexual parents. Yet I am blond haired, blue eyed, and homosexual. Recessive genes can be passed on.

Cute.

When people see me and my mom together they say I look like her (I don't agree)... but when they see me and my dad together, there ain't no denying it... I am my daddy's son!

You aren't saying that just because a sperm donor or mother might be gay that their offspring are going to be gay are you? Edited by CD/BP

[post="20243"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

No, because I don't believe that being gay is genetic. I'm just offering an argument for those on the board who DO believe it's genetic - it still doesn't mean that gay people are going to disappear.

Homosexuality is proof that, if there is a god, he or she likes a good laugh. Seriously, watching people bicker over something that really doesn't matter, it has to be extremely entertaining for a higher being. TRC, if thats true, why are the children of so many ultra conservative gay bashers gay?

But seeing the idiotic extremes some people go to when dealing with the issue of homosexuality, God must have a pretty twisted sense of humor.

Oh please, what do you think made the parents ultra-conservative gay bashers? They're prolly gay as geese themselves and in denial!

If gayness could be "caught" or "taught", every Catholic male in the world would be gay. It just don't work that way.

This discussion can continue, and you still wont figure out what makes someone gay. It's something that happens inside the body. It has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with genetics. No one else in my family is gay, except an adopted cousin. Some families may have a few gay people in their family. It's a roll of the dice. There is no reason. It is one of those things that just is. Homosexuality is an offshoot of what is common. Its always been around. It always will be around. I've lived on both sides of the fence and there are advantages and disadvantages to each. Sex is sex, love is love. Homosexuality has more to do with who you love than who you have sex with. I can have sex with anyone, male or female, and its both the same pleasure (if the partner is any good, something hard to find). But I'd rather love a man because you dont have to put up with the song and dance game of buy me dinner and yeah, you can touch me there, and buy me a car, and you can love me. Forget that crap. Random thought... Satty, your avatar reminds me of a song on System of a Down's new CD. It's 'Violent Pornography' and I think it goes something like "its a violent pornography, choking chicks and sodomy". :P Wow... :lol: :D

actually you can teach some1 whatever u want, you just gotta do it from the time they are born and keep em from outside influences... but... if your too negative on them theyll tend to... rebel. Or you could brainwash them... but that takes more effort. I mean if you give a human baby to a gorilla mom she'd take care of it (weird eh?) but ill tell you right now that that kind wont understand human language or culture, it would know gorilla language and culture.

Sexuality is quite a bit different than culture...Culture determines attitudes and views on things, which has little to do with what turns you on...For example someone might be turned on by S&M, but if their culture has a negative view of it then they will likely feel shame. Otherwise, no big deal.

Or growing up... when someone is turned on by men, and their culture has a very negative view on it, they'll end up feeling shame. *whew* Glad those days are gone!

Croc makes a good point. What turns you on comes from instinct, alot like the foods you like and dont like. You cannot control it. It just is. You can make yourself eat peas, even if you hate them, but its not enjoyable, they dont make your mouth water. But carrots, you like how they taste and seeing them makes you drool. Sexuality is the same way. You dont like having sex with men, they dont give you a boner, but women do. Just like hunger, its an instinct thing. You dont have to think about it, it just is. instincts eh? well eating is an instinct... but thats about it. other "instincts" must be developed- they exist in an undeveloped form. i suppose it might be genetic.. but... thats just so 'out there'. i mean really its either Nature, or humans version of Nature (culture). although IIRC back during rome's ending days sex was quite rampant as was homosexuality, then the "barbarians" from the north pretty much wiped them off the map... then 1500 years later they invaded france again :P

Yup, its instinct, like feelings, hunger, thirst. But if you have to think to get a boner maybe you should consider seeing a doctor because something is wrong with your winky. Maybe try a pump, that way you can get a stiffy anytime you want.

It is not wise for one to try and speak knowledgeably about something they don't comprehend.

This is one of those times for you.
