sometime next year, I'll be able to trade my current Avalanche in on a 2008 Avalanche with a hybrid, AFM, E85 setup? Posted Image

I could drive around all day with the A/C on and the windows down and still use less gasoline than a Prius!

Perhaps not all three, but it does seem from what GM execs have been saying that the dual-mode hybrid will be offered with an AFM-equipped engine, and there are certainly both FlexFuel and gasoline versions of the likely options. Also I'm not certain exactly which models will have the hybrid transmission next year—the Avalanche may not be one of them.

aww... why not all three? That'd be the perfect trifecta.

It really can't cost all that much more if the technology is already developed.

Fuel = E85

At stop = engine off

Accelerating = All 8 cylinders on with hybrid assist

Decelerating = 4 cylinders off with hybrid regen

highway cruise = 4 cylinders off with hybrid assist

You could see an avalanche with a fuel mileage of around 25mpg and a gasoline mileage in the 40s when using E85!

E85 returns poorer fuel economy than straight gasolene - 10%-25% lower depending on who you ask. AFM and Hybrid assist could help mitigate that, but you you won't get 40 MPG by wasting perfectly good moonshine as fuel.
