August 1, 2006 -- CYPRESS, Calif. --

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) today reported July sales of 10,502 units, an increase of 1.2% over last July's total of 10,376.

It marked the fifth consecutive month that U.S. sales topped the 10,000 mark. MMNA last sold 10,000-plus vehicles for five months in a row nearly two years ago, during May-August 2004.

MMNA President & CEO Hiroshi Harunari said, "We are very pleased to show sales increases in a month that was very challenging for our industry as a whole. We are confident we will continue this momentum, and accomplish even better results with the launch of our exciting all-new Outlander in the fall."

July sales highlights:

Eclipse sales were 2,657 up 14.0% from July 2005 volume. Calendar-year-to-date Eclipse volume was up 55.8% from last year's CYTD volume.

Eclipse Spyder convertible sales were up 102% from July 2005 and are up 44% for the calendar year.

Lancer sales were up 53% over last July's volume.

Lancer Evolution sales were up 58% over last July's volume.

Mitsubishi sales releases resemble what the engine coolant probably looks like in Sixty8's cars...murky.

Why do they keep comparing figures versus last year and using percentages, not numbers? Lancer EVO sales up 58% means what, 800 units this year versus 336 last year? A 14% increase in Eclipse sales means 372 more cars were sold this year. This is an achievement?

Where are the Galant numbers? Outlander? I haven't seen Raider figures in ages.

Its the old spin game to fool the uneducated. When you are looking an automakers sales figure writeup you are never in the No Spin Zone. I think Mitsubishi's indivdual model numbers are so bad compared to a yr or two ago they don't dare show them until they must at the end of the yr.
