This is my (new-to-me) '04 Silverado LS 2500HD Crew Cab. DuraMax 402 / Allison 1000 powertrain. It's a late '04, so I have the 310-HP / 605-TRQ 6.6L. For 5883 lbs (without driver), it's F-ing fast.

Picked it up off the original owner last month. Price was very good and tho it has some dings & scratches, I know from research & testimonials that it'll last for years & years, plus now I can fit the whole brood in the truck (it's supplimenting my '94 F-150 regular cab/long bed, which is still running strong at 146K). I'm still acclimating to it, but it's a very impressively overbuilt machine, and very comfortable. Ergonomics & features are great. So far I love it.

Put new tires on, had the paint & soft stuff inside detailed, just picked up a 6-ton

drawbar and am looking for a used 6-ton trailer, hoping to pick up some hauling jobs, plus I can move our company's skid steer when necc.. Once I get some bed rail caps & a bed mat in place, I think I'm all set for whatever work deals me.

As an aside; looking back, my daily driver's wheelbases have gone in this order:

113"

115"

120"

124"

133"... and now

153"

Should I start studying for a CDL now or what?

Nice one, Balthy! Soon you'll be draggin' Powerstrokes and Cummins' behind you like tin cans on a wedding car.

Everytime I see the numbers on that Duramax, it makes me wish I had enough cash to sell my 6.2L and upgrade.

Looks awesome. Oh, and if you come across any ricers... put that power to good use :AH-HA_wink:

You should put about $750 worth of mods in it and make tons of power and get better mileage, too. A computer chip, better intake, and free-flowing exhuast should have you up to about 17MPG in the city.

Nice truck, Balt.

I know I couldn't afford the gas on one of those beasts. Looks like I'm sticking with the old Dakota out on loan. :D

Good luck with it.

I can see the future, and it is...

Hey, gents. The Silverado I bought about a year ago is getting a little long in the tooth and my brother in law needs a truck right now more than I do, so I'm letting him have it for the winter. I picked up this beater as a temporary replacement.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to depart on a road trip to Southern California to see if I can visit that Lexus dealership that valets cars.

With only 2 tanks under my belt so far (not nearly enough to get an accurate measure) in all 'city' driving, I've gotten 16.1. Planning a highway trip this weekend- we'll see what that tank averages.

Very nice, Balthazar. I like. But, if you keep the size growing at this rate you'll not only need a CDL you'll need a commercial pilots license as well for the 747.

Or you could just follow Flys idea for you're future. I can see that now. What rush hour congestion? Oh, you mean that stuff stuck in my tracks?

Good one, Fly.

Sadly, my '40 COE is the middle wheelbase (134"); if I had the largest (157") I could continue up my 'wheelbase ladder' right in my backyard. The vintage is the same as the half-track posted above. ;)
