106 degrees in the sun and 98 in the shade today. The funny thing is six months from now I'll be dealing with -20* wind chills. Guess that's Minnesota weather for you.

Minnesota's weather isn't quite as crazy as Michigan's.... :P

But yep- I understand what you mean...

Yeah, I heard 98 on Monday for Long Island. It's relatively cool here now, but I heard starting tomorrow it's supposed to get very hot, near 100/at 100 Monday through maybe Thursday. This summer has been relatively mild so far. Odd.

I know what you mean it got 108 D. in Rapid City, SD (nearest weather radar). And this lady just had to have her lawn mowed today, the hotest its been ever recorded in this area.

Posted

Today I'm not sure how hot it got.. but it was 93 at 6:00, so that's saying something..

However, some girl called the local radio station from Vegas (she's a metro-detroit gal, I guess) saying that it was in the 120s all day and the low for tonight is 100.. :o

Posted

Wow, that's hot, almost like Qatar or Saudi hot...

I was down in Vegas at the beinning of June and it was running around 110-120 every day. Even the locals were complaining about it being so hot that early in June.

What made it worse was trying to fix a plane that we couldn't run the auxiliary power unit to give it some air conditioning. While we were trying to get an external air cart to work, I was in the flight deck where it hit 132. After I got done with that bird, I felt sick for the rest of the day.

Good luck with the heat guys, keep hydrated!

We've been in the 90's the past couple of days with high humidity. I hate this kind of weather. Oddly enough, since it was so hot yesterday, I decided to go see a movie to cool off. I went to see 'An Inconvenient Truth', the global warming movie. It was interesting, scary and sad. I thought it would be more preachy, but it really wasn't. Mostly just facts presented. If you haven't seen it, it's worth seeing.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity.

I remember gettin into Duffy's Forrest Green Trans Am GTA in May

in the suburb of Phoenix it felt like about 85*. He started the car,

we rolled down both windows (no t-tops it's a 350TPI) and a few

seconds later I was comfortable... in reality it was about 115* but

with NO humidity. Heat is relative depending on where you live.

I guess I really shouldn't complain. Its been hot n' humid here lately, but the other night at about 2am, we hit a record low for July...

Weather Channel's calling for 99 tomorrow and Wednesday, and 101 Tuesday, along with something like 80% humidity tomorrow. :yuck: And my parents will wonder why I stayed inside all day...I loathe our summers.

The Sonoma read out 89 at around 7 pm, and now it's down to 78...

Heh. I sorta lied. The readout is no lie, but I drove home from work, errands, etc. for about an hour, parked in my hot driveway, and this is the temp after the car was sitting for like 20 min.

We're supposed to be near 100 for the next 4 days, then cool off to 80 on Friday , the catch is that they are forecasting thunderstorms for Fri. How much does that suck?

Posted (edited)

The high for the state of south dakota yesterday was....117!!! and Rapid City, (closest wetaher radar) reached a 111!

Here in Deadwood, it got 104 D. good thing it is dry, humidity sucks when its hot, thats why when it gets hot around here it feel alot hotter (even though its not degree wise) then it did when i lived in Vegas, the hottest it got when i lived there was 120.

It should get up past 90F today in the downtown area.. and that's right on Lake Erie. I live much further inland so it should be at least 5 degrees hotter here.

I cant wait till Fall and its 70ºF outside with colorful leaves and stuff! I love the Fall.

I don't think there is a day in ND or MN that the humidity isn't at least 40%. Its usually 75-100%.

Been quite hot here in Northeast Wisconsin too. It is 97 with a 71 degree dew point. Quite stifling.

Ah.....

And I thought I was going to have to run around screaming.."Fire! Fire!" "Hot! Hot!"

:P

And call ya hot pants...

I actually managed to go mountain biking and not overheat today.

I just took my CamelBak (2 liter back-mounted water pouch) and jammed 24 ice cubes inside. Kept my back and the water cold the whole time.

Ahhh, glad I live in the south where heat and humidity isn't something to complain about, its a way of life. Been 100+ degrees here with HIGH (65-90 %) humidity for the past two weeks.

It was over 100 today and humid as hell in Chicago today.  Hopefully the overnight thunderstorms will cool everything down a bit.

I hope it storms here this evening. The humidity is thick. I just got in from my walk, and boy, are my balls sweaty.

Here in PA, yesterday was the worst... then all hell broke loose. We had a terrific storm last evening, and lingering showers after the storm. It was a driving rain, the whole atmosphere seemed to have dropped, with a black fog cutting visibility. I drove through two areas of foot-deep water. One area, I had to wait for a new Pathfinder to turn around and turn back, scared to drive through it. The other area, an Escort slammed on his brakes in front of me, I had to go around him. My normal route home was blocked by a downed tree. The top branch of one of my maple trees broke off and landed on the roof of my neighbor's shed about 20 feet away. It's a heavy, big branch. The wind must have been very strong to carry it. But the storm didn't clear out the humidity. Today it was a degree or two cooler, but still very humid.

It's broken 100 for the past three days in a row without a drop of rain in site. There's a glass stairwell I have to climb to get up to my car on the 3rd level of the parking garage, and I swear it gets to about 150 in there...there's no ventilation at all, and it's on the south side of the building. You feel like you're suffocating in that thing.

Eastern Iowa got a dumping of rain today, but we're still bone dry. Humid, but bone dry.

Tuesday night brought one of the most severe thunderstorms I've experienced.

When I returned home after midnight, our street was closed with a towering pine and several wires laying across the road. A large oak limb hit my sister's car. Luckily the damage is nothing a good body-shop can't take care of. Some of the larger hailstones still littered the street nearly an hour later, and our outdoor umbrellas were carried all the way to the edge of our backyard. Several streets in my neighborhood were impassable with the amount of trees, limbs, and debris that fell. The National Weather Service was supposed to survey the area early yesterday for evidence of a tornado. I haven't heard anything on that yet.

Still, we got lucky. Just one town north of us people are still without power tonight.

Weird day here ... somewhat.

Temps were in the comfortable 80s or so ... didn't LOOK threatening. Got the '87 MC LS washed and waxed, etc., and finished just as a severe thunderstorm starting forming ... and rolled though the area.

*shudders*

Coulda been worse, I suppose....
