C&G Rumors: Another G8 Iteration?
Posted Image
Conceptual Rendering by NOS2006

A little birdy told me that there would be another version of the G8 coming in late 2008 (a little over a year, actually), but said it wasn't a wagon. Therefore, the only logical guess I could think of is the GXP, unless we're going to see a hybrid or the little birdy was wrong about the wagon. Either way, the birdy said it is a sedan. EDIT: Perhaps it is an AWD version?

This little birdy also told me that SORP for the G8 is mid-October, and SORP for the Commodore wagon is late February 2008. :AH-HA_wink:

Going by this, the wagon probably isn't coming until at least 2009, if at all.

BTW, the UTE starts production in less than a month.

I agree with reg, that is one hell of a chop, Nos!

Agreed, only thing that would make it perfect is the beaver teeth grille of the G6 GXP. :AH-HA_wink:

A hybrid would make sense. This car might struggle some with $3+ gas prices. The G8 seems like GTO part 2. Pontiac has a weak image, getting people to fork over $30-35,000 for one is tough. And I personally the G8 looks bland inside and out, much like the GTO did.

LOVE the chop.

Hate to say it, but I'm diggin' the color too! :)

When does the regular V8 G8 come out in US/Canada?

As stated in the original post, SORP is mid-October. I expect you'll see them on lots in late November.

Sorry, I didn't know what "SORP" stood for. I thought that the original estimation was that G8's would be arriving in North America for spring 2008?

SOP = Start of Production

SORP = Start of Regular Production (i.e. when all the bugs in the SOP are smoothed out and running on the line as it should be)

Thanks for the compliments on the chop, guys.

Just think guys, if we have a GTP and GXP to come, we already have a 362 HP, 391 lb/ft 6.0L V8 in the GT. Should be very exciting to see the power they go to from there (LS3 is a good possibility with numbers in the 430s). And if they add AWD, that would make me really excited.

Side note: if they have AWD on the GP and CTS and only RWD on the Camaro with the same engine offered, would the Camaro be easily transferred into AWD since it's on the same platform?

No problem, guess I should have stated that. Perhaps they will arrive in mass in spring, but I see no reason the first ones should be here any later than December.

I doubt we're going to see a GTP and GXP. Most likely just the GXP. What else would they do? A supercharged version? I don't see that happening, that's the CTS-V's job. AWD should be available on the VE cars at some point, I would think, don't know if the G8 will get it. AWD is probably a possibility on the Camaro, but it would add a lot of weight, and I'm not sure there's much demand.

Any idea what the numbers are on the RWD vs. AWD Charger R/T? I know it's a totally different car, but would be interesting to note.
