I was looking over at Camaro5 site. I cannot beleive how many problems the new Camaros are having. I really figured since the General took so long to release it Quality would be at the top of the list. Sure new cars have problems but some of this stuff would really piss me off if it were my car. Leaking engines, transmissions, interior issues. body fit all kinds of noises etc. This is the last thing Chevy needs and I hope somebody is listening at GM before the general public finds out

Chevy does not need this coming off the heels of so many problems. These dealers mentioned sound like the same jerks who tried to sell 04 GTO's for a gazillion dollars and gave people the run around http://autoblog.com/2009/07/wapo-bl...around-instead/

GM is having a test drive event at the annual CHIN International Picnic in Toronto. One of the cars featured is the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. I checked it out on Friday (the event wasn't open, so there was no one there, and no driving). VIDEO: PICS:

Was driving home from a family wedding and found this in my wifes hometown of 1,500 on the local Chevy dealers lot... It was a 2LT Camaro with an automatic and sunroof, sadly it was missing the polished 19's or the RS package with 20's. The color my wife liked, I said it would get old fast, but it sure was sexy. Still not as sexy as the 2SS I saw at the car show is Milwaukee in Feb. Anyways here are the photos, be sure to enjoy! And tell me what you think!

There's been lots of talk about GM bringing new Caddys and Buicks to market, but what about Chevy? Don't say Cruze - we knew about that before (and I couldn't care less). Will they bring anything to interest me? I hope so, because it is the only brand they have left that I might be interested in.

I had the pleasure of attending this amazing event in St. Catherines, Ontario, on Saturday June 13. I took a ton of pictures and video. It was one of the best events I have ever attended, and the cruise through Niagara was awesome! Scott Settlemire was there with his yellow 5th gen! Video of the cars! Video of the cruise! Here are my pictures from the event! FULL ALBUM (122 pics!): http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m251/ii...cnationals2009/

Chevy Volt coasts closer to reality, first bona fide model now in production via Engadget General Motors has just cut the ribbon, metaphorically at least, on the production of the first genuine Chevy Volt integration vehicle. Unlike previous versions, which have been "developments mules" made using parts from the Malibu / Cruze lines, this will look (and hopefully feel) 100 percent like what the company plans to start pimping out this November. The pre-production model will be put through the paces in case the design needs to be refined and tweaked before going full steam ahead. GM is sticking pretty close to its original plan of building at a rate of ten a week by m…

The Cruze is a nice enough car. Unlike some others I think the styling is nice and clean for the most parts and the interior is a huge leap forward for Chevy. I have some reservations about a 1.4T being more economical than a 1.8 DI, but at least it serves to differentiate the car from the flock. However, there is nothing to like about the lame name that sounds like "Curse" or (Tom) "Cruise". So, I am proposing that we come up with some alternative names for this bread and butter Chevy of the future. I propose that Chevy name all their mainstream vehicles after places or cities. There is already some sort of a tradition in that direction -- Malibu, Tahoe, Colorado, et…

Automotive lust in America means blown Camaros. You know, like the red '69s on every cover of Car Craft. A big BDS 10-71 supercharger sticking through the hood and massive M/T drag slicks under tubs in back. Let the rest of the world dream of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and dinky little British two-seaters. In this country speed doesn't look like that. It looks like this. This is the Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) "HPE550" supercharged 2010 Camaro SS. That's right, it's a blown Camaro. The first blown 2010 Chevy Camaro. And that makes it the very newest version of a true American icon. Ranks right up there with the Beach Boys, buckets of deep fried chicken and our…

[source: Motor Authority] GM engineer drops Corvette ZR1 supercharged LS9 into '69 Chevrolet Camaro For many auto enthusiasts, the golden age of automotive styling was during 1960s, when designers had virtual free reign on their designs and didn't have to worry about aerodynamics, pedestrian crumple zones and other such ‘nuisances’. At the same time, the ‘60s could hardly be called the high point of automotive technology, and the development of engines, brakes, suspension components and transmissions still had a long way to go. Fast forward to 2009, and legendary GM engineer and pro-touring car builder Mark Stielow appears to have created the perfect marriage…

[source: Motor Authority] Camaro too popular for GM's own good? There's no denying the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is an eye-catcher, and it has the performance to match it, with even the V6 variant checking in at over 300hp. But all that mean and too little green could be making it harder for General Motors, despite over 18,000 sales so far. GM's new de facto controlling investors - lawmakers in Washington - do not appreciate the car's success, however. Despite the V6's 29mpg highway rating, the Camaro, especially the V8-powered models including the 2010 Camaro SS (pictured above), does not fit with the 'advanced vehicle technology'…

Okay well a local Chevy dealer whom is known for his invoice - rebates pricing. Who has a HUGE inventory of Chevrolet's has a few very special Malibu's out of his fleet of 28. I have come across a 2009 Malibu 1LT with a 3.5L V6! What is the deal here, I thought it was FLEET only, I thought only Avis and such could order these. I didn't know dealers could sell them brand new with FLEX FUEL badging none-the less, easier to tell apart I suppose. Anyways I found it odd and if I were in the market for one, I would have to consider one with the "low tech" 3.5 V6. Anyways anyone have any comments and also he has a loaded 1LT sedan with chrome alloy wheels? I thought 1LT's only c…

My wife and I went over to our local Chevy Dealer (Loren Berg Chevrolet) to test drive the new Camaro. We got to be the first "customer" to drive it, so we took it home and got some pictures of it in front of our home (for proof). In typical Loren Berg fashion we took it out without any salesperson in the car. It does help that I am friends with the owner, Loren. The car drove just like all the reports said it would, darn near perfect. It is a Silver V6 model with the RS package. You can see pictures of it at www.flickr.com/dsuupr

Last week in (yet another) celebration of the arrival of the 2010 Camaro, a parade of some 40 Inferno Orange Metallic Camaros rumbled from Victory Park in Dallas to Sundance Square in Ft. Worth with a police motorcade. It was Chevrolet's first large-scale Camaro event, and hopefully it means that now we can get on to seeing them on the streets, instead of just talking about them being on the streets. You can check out some short-n-shaky video clips of the event after the jump, including some footage of a vintage Eighties Garland Police Camaro, as well as the gallery of photos below. Autoblog

CNN Money Drives Volt Mule It was a rare opportunity when General Motors recently invited a few reporters to test drive a Chevrolet Volt electric car "test mule" at the carmaker's proving grounds in Milford, Mich. Very few people who don't work for a car company ever get to drive "mules." These are not-ready-for-prime-time mock-ups used to test new engine, transmission and suspension technologies. To create a "mule," engineers stuff the mechanicals of a new vehicle into the body of an existing vehicle and test drive that for months. It beats waiting for a whole car. In this case, the body was that of a Chevrolet Cruze, a new small car model that GM will start selling …

Chevrolet and GMC will continue to offer a heavy duty Duramax 6.6L V-8 diesel, which is class-leading in both horsepower and torque. GM continues to make steady progress readying updates for its heavy-duty pickups, including a minor face-lift. Originally thought to be badged as 2010 models, new information now pegs the revisions for the 2011 model year. The one-ton Chevrolet Silverado 3500 in this picture sports the same grille as the current half-ton Silverado 1500, but as we first reported last year, we think it's temporary. A different grille with better fitment is likely in the works. The front bumper, however, is believed to be ready for production. GM has softened the huge metal flares at the corners of the current Silverado HD's bumper by topping off the uppermost portion with plastic from end…

You know you're off to a good evening when it starts with the delivery of a Victory Red pre-production 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. I hadn't even pulled away from the parking garage where it was waiting for me, and it was already causing a ruckus. A young boy, waiting with his extended family for their car to be retrieved, saw the ponycar roll up. His eyes turned into saucers. "Dad, it's the car from Transformers!" he sputtered, tugging on his father's sleeve. Dad immediately chimed in with, "Whoa. Niiiice car." Grandpa looked at the car, locked eyes with me, broke into a grin and just gave a thumbs up. The Camaro elicits those sort of responses a lot. You know, because it's…

There was one main message hammered home during a conference call on the Voltec plug-in hybrid propulsion system that GM held earlier today: even though the Chevy Volt is not yet finished, GM is getting the second and third generation Voltec systems ready. Sure, the GM representatives reassured us that the company is on track for a late-2010 launch of the Chevy Volt, all of the mentions of the Gen 2 and Gen 3 Voltec systems made it clear that GM is readying some surprises in their various battery labs and partner locations. "We remain confident and committed to a November 2010 launch of the Chevy Volt." A timetable for Gen 2 and beyond is not public at this time, but …

Chevrolet has just announced pricing on its new-for-2010 Equinox crossover, and it will carry an MSRP of $23,185 (including $745 destination), a handy $1,800 less than the outgoing model. That $23k and change will net you the base front-wheel drive LS model with the 2.4-liter, direct-injection Ecotec four-cylinder. The 182 horsepower engine is pegged to deliver 30 miles-per-gallon on the highway (the same figure quoted for its GMC Terrain sibling) and a further 21 mpg in the city, while the pricier 3.0-liter direct-injected V6 will yield 264 horsepower in exchange for more fuel (18 city/25 highway). Ponce de Leon spent his career searching the Florida wilderness for the mythical fountain of youth, hoping to recapture his glory days. Car buyers often follow his example, buying the same kind of car they had in their youth, either as a restoration project or in the form of a new nostalgia model from the same manufacturer. The question now for the domestic car industry is whether such cars can also serve to recapture their glory days, when the car makers commanded huge market share with hot models that future owners sketched in study hall, or plastered on the inside of their lockers. Ford has remained in this sporty coupe segment since its introduction of the Mustang…

n2a Motors have made quite a name for themselves over the past few years, designing and building unique coachbuilt cars like the 789 and more recently the Anteros. They were kind enough to send us some renderings and clay model photos of their next upcoming project dubbed the "Stinger", which takes styling cues from the '63-'67 Corvettes. Like the aforementioned 789 and Anteros, the Stinger will be based on the C6 Corvette and utilizes its chassis and powertrain. That's where the similarities end, though, as the car receives all new carbon composite body panels, custom interior, wheels and exhaust system. The standard Corvette with its 430-hp V8 is used for the base model…

The Chevrolet Cruze may be delayed, but that doesn't mean that more variants of the Cobalt/Lacetti replacement aren't on the drawing board. In addition to the standard four-door model that Chevrolet debuted in Paris, a five-door hatch and a wagon will fill the rest of the range. GM plans to produce the European Cruze in South Korea through its Daewoo operations, along with its plant in St. Petersburg, Russia. The new sedan was designed to meet the needs of a variety of markets, so additional body styles, along with different powertrains, safety specs and ride/handling requirements, will be employed throughout the world. GM announced that the U.S. version would be manufa…

Has GM announced what happens to the Cobalt SS Turbo when the Cruze takes over in 2011? Are they going to carry over the drive train into a Cruze SS or something? The new SS seems to be wiping the floor of the sport compact segment, so it would be a shame to see performance Chevy compacts die off when the Cruze is introduced...

Inside Line tests hundreds of vehicles a year, but not every one gets a full write-up. The numbers still tell a story, though, so we're introducing a new feature on Straightline called "IL Track Tested." It's a quick rundown of all the data we collected at the track, along with comments direct from the test drivers. Enjoy. Everyone has had their eyes on the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, including us. It is, after all, the Camaro with a V8. This makes the SS the Camaro for enthusiast. And with a 6-speed manual, the SS will stomp through the quarter-mile in a stunning 13 seconds flat at 110.9 mph. Also new for 2010, is the Camaro V6, known as the LS, 1LT or 2LT, depending on ho…

Finding the Ultimate Modern Muscle Car In 2002, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second human being to set foot on the moon, punched a guy in the face for accusing him of faking the moon landing. Buzz was 72 years old at the time. Go right ahead and question the existence of the 2010 Ford Mustang GT, 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T and 2010 Chevy Camaro SS and they, too, might just give you a knuckle sandwich in the kisser. Like Mr. Aldrin, they bear names from long ago that have made a collective return to the limelight. Like Mr. Aldrin, they are American heroes with unparalleled legacies reaching across decades. And like Mr. Aldrin, they have Ph.Ds in kicking ass. Their maker…

Chevrolet's new Camaro is the last of the neo-ponycars to hit showrooms, and now it's finally possible for you to put your money where your mouth is after all those breathless "I'd buy one..." comments. Dreamers and real buyers alike can head to the new Camaro Configurator website and trick one out just right. The price of entry for a base-trim LS model is a mere $22,995, and it still looks fantastic – there's something about those black steelies with trim rings. A V6 that belts out more power than some of the storied V8s of yore while netting 29 highway miles per gallon is a persuasive argument for going base, though we couldn't help ourselves and wound up with a…

After countless spy shots, speculation, Transformers tie-ins, leaked photos and numbers comparisons, we've finally driven the 2010 Chevy Camaro. Does the reality match the hype? Well, it's like Star Wars. Asked on May 18, 1999 what my favorite movie was I, like many of my contemporaries, would have had an easy answer: Star Wars. Just one day later, with the release of Phantom Menace, that answer would change forever. It didn't make sense. Episode I, compared quantitatively to its predecessors and, according the huge amount of buzz surrounding it, must have been a much better movie. It had a bigger budget, benefited from modern technology, had really neat imaginary creat…

Anyone driven a GM car with the shift skip? So how does it work? And how it will effect driving a new Camaro SS with a six speed? Also can it be removed? Please help me I have been wondering along time (and since my son or I will be getting one I was wondering), also do they include so the Camaro dodged the gas guzzler tax? What is this launch control and why is it slower in the M/T review than the without launch control? Also I have driven a few manual trans vehicles lately but what is the best way to launch one for max acceleration and for a smokey burnout? (On a vehicle like the Camaro SS, I understand to push the clutch in and release slowly while applying more and mo…

Linkity First Drive: 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Forget the Volt -- This is the Car That Must Save GM Highlights: Solid Delta II Structure Choice of diesel, gas 4-cylinder engines (Euro Version) Good Interior Layout The Chevrolet Cruze has different jobs wherever it's sold. In the U.S., where it goes on sale from mid-2010, it will be a locally made rival to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. But in Europe, where we've just driven it, it's GM's Korean-made budget-brand entry and sits beneath the same-sized Opel (and sometime Saturn) Astra in GM's price and brand hierarchy. GM's been promising Americans an "import fighter" small car for years -- a…

Spy Shots: Mysterious Chevy small car spied testing Spy shots of a mysterious Chevy small car prototype have surfaced on the web today and everyone seem confused as to what it might be. The five-door hatchback spied undergoing winter testing could be the next-generation Chevy Aveo, though looks very little like the next-gen Chevy Lova – the Chinese version of the Aveo – that we saw in spy shots taken last September. The interior of the prototype, as well, is a big departure from any we've seen in other Chevy small cars, especially the main gauge pod that appears to house a tachometer with a digital display that extends off to the right and likely works as a speedomet…

On my way to work this morning, about 7:30am (on the 401 near the 404 for those who know Toronto) still half asleep, I looked in my rear view and saw an oddly familiar face. It took me a second to realize what it was and, well, I think smilies can best sow my reactions, I went from to to to It was an inferno orange SS in the wild Yes I pinched myself and no it wasn't a dream. The guy (who I assume is a GM engineer) was giving here a good run, about 130kph, and I kept pace so I could take in as much as a could. All I can say, is wow, that she looks just as good, if not better, on the road, then they ever did at the shows, and the sound...oooohhhh the sound.

What would you order or select? Personally I would be having a hard time deciding on the ease of an automatic or fun of a manual. I have lots of hills in my town and because the SS with the automatic is said to get 0-60 in only 4.7 seconds (same an a manual) it would be even harder for me, plus 1 mpg better on the highway. Also with the tap shift that makes it even harder for me to pick one, but the same 0-60 doesn't add up since the L99 automatic cars have 26 less hp, anyone know what gives? Or is the new 6L80 that "performance style" of tranny? I would personally get a 1SS coupe with either a stick or auto, and maybe the RS package, if I got a 1SS without the RS packa…

This is no way to treat a 1963 Corvette split-window coupe. Found in Washington by one of Google StreetView's drones, there's actually no barn to this barn find, just a car left sitting in the gray mist that folks in the Pacific Northwest call "weather." This Corvette had a 12-year shelf life, and then according to the owner, it's "been veggin' on the spot since '75." If you are interested, it's one of the fuel injected models and comes with an extra engine and other parts. Of course, if it's been sitting there for 34 years, it could fall to pieces when you try to move it... and you'll probably find more than a few dead (or perturbed) animals lurking thereabouts. But th…

Linkity General Motors Death Watch 232 Chevrolet Corvette Must Die A mainstream carmaker has no business building niche products. Literally. For one thing, they're hardly ever profitable. For another, even when they are, their profits are relatively insignificant. And most importantly, "halo cars" are four-wheeled glass and steel versions of Dumbo's magic feather. They lead manufacturers to mistake cause with effect: if we build this, we must be good. In fact, any automaker that focuses its creative, financial and corporate resources on a halo car risks forgetting how to do what it did to get those resources in the first place—and an eventual plummet…

General Motors has released a slew of images that show the first batch of pre-production 2010 Chevy Camaros being assembled at the its assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario. Check out the gallery below to see how the sausage is made, though watching the Camaro go from shells to showroom ready is much more appetizing than watching someone stuff animal intestines with meat. The gallery shows nearly every stage of the muscle car's birth process, including paint, the mating of body to chassis, final inspections and the finished product that pops out the other end. Enjoy. I'm sure it's on this site somewhere, but since RWD is killed does anyone know what the plan is for the Impala? LW EPII? Are they going to keep building the current one until no one buys it anymore? Ford has a good 1 - 2 punch with the Fusion and Taurus. Chevrolet's sales will continue to decline if they do nothing.

Perhaps since Ford said this and not Toyota we can deal with the content rather than the messenger: http://gm-volt.com/2009/02/06/exclusive-fo...d-explains-why/ Combine this with Ford's earlier statement that a battery about the size of the Volt's would cost ~$20K and you can see why the Volt was less "technological leap" and more baby step off the side of a bridge. That's why no one was seriously following. But it is unfortunate that so many were compelled by the PR to "make pretend". I've posted elsewhere how this distraction could has cost the US many billions of gallons of fuel by 2015... and that is if the Volt actually even delivers what has been claimed! G…

Here are some pictures I took of the Inferno Orange 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS at the Montreal International Autoshow in Quebec, Canada on Tuesday January 20th. This was my first time sitting in the production Camaro. Initial impressions are very good. The interior plastics are hard, but everything had a solid feel, and was put together well. The interior is all business (minimalist) and feels snug, with the low cut windows. Seats are excellent, and room is decent. It looks killer...just like the concept car. There was always a crowd around it, and the short seat time I got, I didn't really use for picture taking of the inside (will do in Toronto). VIDEO:

After a 2001 Ranger, then a 2005 Scion Tc, then a 2007 Mazda CX-7, then a 2008 Infiniti G37.....drum roll please....we got him into an '09 Avalanche on Monday afternoon. Nicely loaded LT with leather, rearview camera, Bose, etc. Drive-out was about $37K, representing a fantastic savings versus MSRP. I never ever imagined him in such a vehicle...especially a Chevy...but here we are now, and it's a reality. Note: his partner drives a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab. How wonderful to see them with two GM products in the driveway.

There are very few instant classics these days, and this is one of them. There's still a month before actual series production of the car is slated to begin, but the winning bidder claimed the right to the very first retail production car that can be ordered in any color and with any options he chooses. Just as with last year's ZR1, all pro…
