By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 2, 2013 Read any review of the Chevrolet Malibu Eco and most, if not all will say the mild hybrid system used doesn’t provide enough improvement in the fuel economy to justify the price. Chevrolet dealers are saying the same thing with consumers skipping over the Eco model. "For most people, it's hard to justify the extra money based on the extra fuel economy of a combined 3 mpg more than the base model. You've got the base LS model sitting next to it that's just as nice and luxurious," said Jeff Tuckman, inventory manager at Castle Chevrolet in suburban Chicago. Another Chevrolet dealer in New Jersey puts i…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 13, 2013 Its a momentous occasion whenever Chevrolet introduces a new Corvette and the introduction of the seventh-generation model tonight in Detroit is no exception to this. The seventh-generation Corvette brings forth a many changes to vehicle, starting with its name. Chevrolet resurrected the Stingray nameplate and put it on this new Corvette. The exterior design is a mishmash of the C6 and 2009 Stingray concept. Up front there is a wide grille, a more sculpted hood, and HID headlights. The side features more creases and numerous vents. The one part that will get a lot of controversy is the C7's rear end. …

If there's one car that's been crucial to GM's recent sales success, it's the Chevrolet Cruze. Since it's global introduction in 2008, the compact Chevy has had healthy sales worldwide and has also handily outsold its competitors at times here in the U.S. market. GM is obviously intent on keeping the momentum going and knows that the only way it'll keep making sales progress is to update the Cruze for the immediate future. So, it comes as no suprise a spy photo of the Cruze's upcoming refresh has already surfaced over on Czech auto website AutoForum. The spy shot reveals that the shape of the grille opening will be modified slightly and the inserts will change from the c…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 23, 2013 Chevrolet appears to be taking some notes from SRT's playbook on how to sell the Corvette Stingray. According to Automotive News, General Motors told Chevrolet dealers that if they had sold four or more Corvettes in 2012, they would be able to sell the Stingray. This move will effect hundreds of Chevrolet dealers. "I don't anticipate getting the new Corvette this year, and many smaller dealers like me won't get it either," says Byron Hansen, a Chevrolet dealer in Brigham City, Utah. Dealers who did not hit the sales mark last year are very disappointed, since they used the Corvette as a way to bring …

According to Autoweek, add Chevrolet to that list. Autoweek has learned from a few of its sources that Chevrolet will debut the Corvette Stingray convertible at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This isn't the first time Chevrolet has premiered a Corvette outside of the U.S.. At the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet introduced the hottest Corvette, the ZR-1. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 19, 2013 The current Chevrolet Malibu has seen mixed reviews and slow sales since it went on sale last year. GM CEO Dan Akerson said in a interview back in December that a mid-cycle refresh would be coming in late 2013. "We are going to do a midcycle enhancement, not dramatic, by this time next year," Akerson said. Akerson said that part of the midcycle refresh would include a revised front fascia. Now we have learned that the Malibu refresh will also address another complaint many people have, back seat room. Automotive News reports that the Malibu refresh will improve on the back seat room from the curren…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 24, 2012 January 13, 2013 is the date that Chevrolet will reveal to the world the new seventh-generation Corvette. But some leaked images could give us some hints as to what the rear end and interior look like. The images are allegedly from a user manual. The Corvette Fourm's member who posted these images cannot vouch for their authenticity, but the images seem to match up with past rumors. Starting with the rear end, the images show the new Corvette sharing some design cues from the 2009 Stingray concept. The images also reveal a set of quad tailpipes and uniquely styled taillights. Heading inside, the imag…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 4, 2012 The new Chevrolet Malibu has been getting panned for a multitude of reasons; rear head and legroom is poor, the interior is over-styled, and the powertrains are meh. Sales haven't great either; in September and October, sales dropped by 3%. Because of this, General Motors has announced mid-cycle refresh of the new Malibu coming out late 2013, eighteen months after the Malibu was launched. "We are going to do a midcycle enhancement, not dramatic, by this time next year," said GM CEO Dan Akerson. Akerson told Automotive News that a revised front fascia would be part of the refresh, but wouldn't reveal an…

A recent view of another thread (RE: redesigned shifter on the Caprice PPV), prompted me to write about a pet peeve of mine: why does GM insist on configuring its new cars with the headlight controls on the left hand stalk, while mounting wiper controls on the right hand stalk? As owners of a 2008 Impala LT, one of the main drawing factors to our car were the driving characteristics of the Impala, plus the familarity of the HVAC, stereo, and wiper controls. As design configurations become more standardized and generic, so too, do cars become more and more indistinguishable. I often hear that Ford & GM design their cars for a global market, hence the common designs…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 8, 2013 Back in late December, we reported that the fate of Chevrolet's current tagline, 'Chevy Runs Deep' would be decided within the first quarter of 2013. Today, Chevrolet has officially announced a new tagline, 'Find New Roads'. The new tagline will become the brand's global advertising message as Chevrolet begins its push to sell vehicles in 140 countries. “It’s more of an internal mantra as well as our external tagline. A lot of work is going on with our dealerships, a lot of work with our employees. This is just a continuation of that work and really bringing everything under one global vision,” said G…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 23, 2012 The brand new 2014 Chevrolet Impala will begin at $27,535* (includes $810 destination charge), an increase of about $700 from the outgoing Impala. Chevrolet says the base price gets you a 2.5L four-cylinder engine LS model. If you want a higher trim model with the 2.5L four, be prepared to pay $29,785 for the LT and $34,555 for the range-topping LTZ. Wanting V6 power? You can get a 3.6L V6 on the LT model for $30,760, and the LTZ model for $36,580. Pricing for the e-Assist mild hybrid model hasn't been announced at this time. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 2, 2013 Dealerships are used to to training sales and service professionals, and buying new tools when new models arrive. But for a small subset of Chevrolet dealers, the cost of selling the Volt and its pricey additional tool and equipment costs are causing them to stop selling the Volt. A new report from Automotive News says that a small number of dealers have decided to stop selling the Volt due to the specialized equipment costs and GM requiring a more significant investment in the near future, and slow sales not being able to recuperate those investments. Last year, 2,614 Chevrolet dealers were certified to…

Note too the talk of the D2XX platform that will replace the Delta II and Theta. There are a few things on the new SS and the Falcon. http://www.motoring.com.au/news/large-passenger/commodore-v-falcon-the-final-chapter-34294 Note too the ad for the Colorado 7 opn the right side. There seems to be quite the flood of lightly owned Captiva Sports on the market now. Some may recall these as Saturn Vues. How does everyone think these compare with the small-mid crossover market, with all its new contenders? The Captiva got the 6 speed auto. Its a solid ride. It didn't have the foibles of the Escape. But how can it compete when there is already an Equinox too? I think its a nice choice to have it in the pre-owned stable. The ones I have seen are too pricey though. I would get one over an Equinox maybe, but not a Terrain.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 28, 2012 Back in 2010, Chevrolet introduced a new ad campaign with the tagline of 'Chevy Runs Deep'. The campaign was designed to emphasize the emotional connect between a person and a vehicle. However the campaign was met with mixed reactions. "I'm not sure that was appropriate for the mainstream market that they're in. They need to create a message that conveys some type of differential advantage, some benefit to the mainstream buyer that the Asians cannot offer," said Polk Automotive analyst Thomas Libby. General Motors and its advertising agency, Commonwealth are weighing whether to keep the campaign or go …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 19, 2012 General Motors is moving production of the next-generation Camaro from its current home of Oshawa, Ontario to Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan according to a statement released today. GM cites “lower capital investment and improved production efficiencies” as the reason for the move. The Camaro is the only RWD vehicle built at Oshawa, so the move the Lansing Grand River to join alongside the Cadillac ATS and CTS makes complete sense. Also, the next-generation Camaro and CTS will move onto the Alpha platform which currently underpins the ATS. For the time-being, the current Cama…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 13, 2012 It has been close to seven years since General Motors introduced a new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra truck. It that time, GM has been to hell and back with bankruptcy, The bankruptcy brought with it delays to key products, most notably the trucks and SUVs. The competition during that time has moved the full-size truck yardstick by a mile with Ford's engine lineup in the F-Series and Ram introducing a wealth of fuel economy tricks and clever storage places. GM has dropped the curtain on the new Silverado and Sierra today at an event in Detroit, bringing some much needed updates and changes to the tr…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 27, 2012 Remember the 2007 Volt concept? It was a muscular, bold, and imposing electric vehicle. Compare it to the production Volt and the two almost have nothing to share, aside from name, powertrain, and some design ideas. Recently at a event in San Francisco. John Cafaro, Director of Exterior Design for Chevrolet gave some indications and clues as to what to expect in the next-gen Volt. Cafaro mentioned how the guys at Chevrolet were impressed with what Opel did to the Ampera to make more aggressive. "We're going to do some things with the Volt down the road, make it a little more monochromatic, a little mo…

Did you guys see the new production model Sonic Dusk sedan being shown at SEMA this year? Similar in color to the Camaro Dusk, it mimics the color, wheel design and interior color of the Camaro Dusk. The interior is a really nice black and Saddle leather combo. Very nice looking little car, imo. But, I cannot figger out how to bring the photos over to post here. At least three photos can be found elsewhere on the internet.

GM Has posted the 2014 Impala ordering guide online, I guess these things must be hitting the road sooner than we thought- maybe January or February. It appears the 2LT and LTZ will be the only vehicles available at launch, with standard V6 power. The LS and 1LT will be 2.5L only and will be coming in Q2 with the Eco coming by year end. http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/proddesc.jsp?year=2013&butID=1®ionID=1&divisionID=3&vehicleID=13882&type=0 You guys can draw your own conclusions but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the packaging. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 24, 2012 Earlier this morning, General Motors debuted a brand new 6.2L LT1 V8 engine that will be in the seventh-generation Corvette. The new LT1 is full of new tech and comes with some impressive specs. The new 6.2L V8 will produce 450 HP and 450 pound-feet of torque. That can propel the C7 to 60 in under 4.0 seconds, which puts it within a hair of the 2012 Corvette Z06's 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds. Fuel economy is impressive, with GM claiming that the C7 will deliver up to 26 mpg highway. The new technology on the new LT1 V8 includes direct injection with “on demand” adjustable pressure, variable valve timing, a…

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/19/this-is-your-best-look-yet-at-chevys-c7-corvette/ GM has really gone to lenghts to hide this car with camo even on the dash. The things to take here are the seats are seen. Also the Steering wheel and the C7 is next to a ZL1 to better judge the size. There is a shot of the rear hatch that looks like a more flat rear hatch with no wrap around to the opening part. The large rear center pipes with the 4 outlets are a nice touch. We should see more soon as this is following the same patter of GM photo leaks and bring the cars out to tease.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 25, 2012 The fine folks at PickupTrucks.com got their hands on the first spy shots of the U.S.-spec Chevrolet Colorado. On the outside of these two Colorado mules, the greenhouse and doors appear to be the same as the current Colorado on sale in Asia and other countries. Its expected that the U.S. version will get updated front and rear ends. As for powertrains, the Colorado in the U.S. will use a four-cylinder as a base engine, either the 2.0L turbo from Cadillac ATS, or the 2.5L from the Malibu. The next step up will be a 3.6L V6 engine. Those hoping for diesel option might want to stop for the time being. For …

I for one like the styling, the idea of the thing, but they failed in the execution, Basing it on the trailblazer(not that they had much an alternative) and releasing it underpowered in its first year with the auto only combination didn't help The later years LS2 with the 6sp manual was really cool, but they are still stratospherically expensive even today.e

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 24, 2012 Sometime this month in Las Vegas, GM executives showed Chevrolet dealers the next-generation Silverado. Dealers who saw the new Silverado say the design is evolutionary. "It's not a major change for an all-new model, but it'll be much bolder looking and have a lot more features," says Tom Durant, owner of Classic Chevrolet in Grape-vine, Texas. The next-gen Silverado will be about three to four inches taller than the current model and have a brawny look. Extended-cab models will get rear-doors. Dealers say this move will help sales of extended-cab models. Crew-cab models will see an increase in rear…

Thought I'd try a 'journal' for a month on this subject. Too many folk believe trucks 'never' carry anything in the bed or be very 'trucky'. To those unfamiliar, I have a 2004 Silverado 2500 HD CrewCab, DuraMax/Allison/3.73s. Mileage is currently about 106K. • • • Today I towed, then pushed a '70s Dodge camper van around on a piece of private property- repositioning it at the owner's request. Section of chain & a cable/clevis shackles to pull, the ol' 'tire hung by chain over Dodge's bumper' and the ol' 'shopping cart push' to guide it backwards. It was momentarily tempting to get it up to maybe 50 MPH.... DuraMax didn't even feel it.

I have a neighbor who over the years has had a lot of fun cars like a 96 Impala SS, 66 Chevelle, SS Nova etc. Back in 1981 he ordered a new Camaro coupe with only options being V8, Posi, spoiler and AM FM radio. The car is a factory 4 speed. The Gunmetal Grey car has been pretty much sitting in the garage for 25 years. He suffered some medical issues like 3 strokes and several heart attacks including one where he was gone for a little while. H was able to recover to now have the onset of Alzhimers. I grew up in this neigborhood and just came back last year. In that time he has asked me to take the car out and run it as he is no longer able to drive. So at different time…

Should GM reverse course on displacement reduction and put a 2.5L engine on the 2014 Cruze Eco? Is the Cruze 1.4T an improvement over past GM efforts and is it a decent engine for a well executed small car? Absolutely. This, however, doesn't change the facts that downsizing displacement and adding a turbocharger does not result in better fuel economy numbers than doing the opposite. The Cruze 1.4T is basically bottom of the pack in fuel economy and horsepower:- 2012 Cruze Eco -- 1.4L Turbo (6-spd automatic) -- 26 / 39 MPG (EPA); 138 hp / 148 lb-ft 2012 Civic HF -- 1.8L NA (5-spd automatic) -- 29 / 41 MPG (EPA); 140 hp / 128 lb-ft 2012 Focus SFE -- 2.0L NA (6-spd au…

The new Malibu has a more athletic look than before. But it has no "Sport" trim package to spice things up, like Ford's Fusion and Toyota's Camry, two formidable rivals. The Kia Optima has a relatively sporty look, too, in higher trims. I'd like to see Chevy add a low-cost Sport trim package to the Malibu. A manual transmission is still offered in certain iterations of the competition, as well, including its main domestic foe... Fusion. If Chevy were to take, say, a 1LT Malibu and offer this package: 2.5L with 6 speed manual (optional automatic, of course). 18 inch unique alloys. Foglamps and low rear spoiler. Sport cloth seats and metallic interior trim... I thi…

An idear for perusal: 2012 Silverado LT regular cab longbed black with tan cloth factory accessory 20" 6-single spoke wheels 5.3/posi 3.73 protection package (mainly for the rear wheelhouse liners which should be standard on these trucks) After sale: rear end 3" drop silver/gold painted pinstriping around bodyside contours, tailgate handle and hood contours blacked-out windows Flowmaster muffler with dual tailpipes straight out back folding soft tonneau cover I'm thinking the old-skool "tail dragging" look would be cooler with the longbed. Thoughts?

Here is what I have from someone who manger went to the GM dealers show. Take it for what it is but I think it is pretty much on the mark as it is what I expected to here. I figured It would be limited as already stated by Al Oppenhiser. As it will have a LS3. I had hoped for the Gen V but I expect that it will be seen in a later model or a Alpha based replacment at some point. GM will need all the new Gen V they can get at start up for the trucks anyways. Also I am not sure if the Gen V is ready for the global market yet. Any ways here is a little of what was stated. Okay, so my manager and the owner of the dealership just got back from the Vegas show. They didn't get …

G. Noble Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 16th, 2012 At the 2012 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet stripped the wrapper off of its upcoming 2014 Impala to a pleasingly surprised automotive world. While the current Impala has been called one of the least appealing cars in America, we know the new model will certainly work hard to change those perceptions and try to restore the image of Chevrolet’s flagship model. Other than that, we also know all about the technical details of the ‘14 Impala, as well as its options list that includes a host of four and six-cylinder engines and creature comforts like adaptive cruise control. A lot of folks thought that would be th…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 29, 2012 For a second time this year, General Motors is putting the brakes on Volt production. According to Automotive News, the company plans to shut down the Detroit-Hamtramck from September 17 until October 15. Why? Well there are two reasons as to this. A GM spokesman tells Motor Trend, "the plant will be idled to match inventory with production, as well as retooling to get ready for 2014 Impala production." The 'match inventory with production' most likely is in reference to the Chevrolet Volt. Through July, 10,666 Volts have been sold, which more than triple the 2,870 Volts sold last year. However, the 10,…

For the second month in a row Motor Trend claims the 2014 Chevy Impala with be the first large or full size car equipped with a normally aspirated four cylinder engine. This is wrong on a number of levels. First, they are forgetting that the Buick Lacrosse on the same platform even, offered the 2.4 for 2010-2011. And yes, that is non-turbo, non-hybrid. Few takers, and it was discontinued when the Regal came around. If you want to go way back in the time machine, Chevy offered the old Iron Duke 4 banger in the Lumina, a similar sized, 6 passenger and yet not full size car about 20 years ago. If that doesn't count for you, the current Honda Accord qualifies as a large car …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 24, 2012 Yesterday, General Motors announced a $220 million investment into two plants in Ohio; Lordstown and Parma. Lordstown has been building the Cruze since 2010, while Parma handles parts for GM vehicles. The investment will be for tooling and equipment to build the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze. "Thanks to northeast Ohio's supportive business climate, we're able to build on a great foundation and steer the Chevrolet Cruze into the next generation. A special thanks goes to Governor John Kasich and his team at Jobs Ohio for their strong leadership and advocacy for GM and our employees," said GM Manufacturin…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 14, 2012 Chevrolet is introducing a new global-market crossover called the Trax. The Trax will serve as the brand's only global crossover. The Trax appears to be closely related to the Opel Mokka and Buick Encore crossover. The only change appears to be the Trax getting its own fascia. Chevrolet is being quiet on specific details about the new Trax. Our guess that it will likely share the same engine lineup as the Mokka and Encore, and come in front-wheel and all-wheel-drive. Chevrolet says the the Trax will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, with sales beginning in the forth quarter in Mexico …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 22, 2012 Chevrolet has announced pricing for the performance' trim Sonic, the RS. For $20,995 (includes destination), the Sonic RS sticks with the 1.4L turbo-four from the regular Sonic. The performance bits lie elsewhere. Starting with the transmission, the standard six-speed manual gets a set of of unique gear ratios. The optional six-speed automatic (starts at $22,280 with destination) gets a unique final drive ratio. Other performance bits for the Sonic RS include a lowered and stiffened suspension, and a set of four-wheel disc brakes. Exterior modifications for the Sonic RS include a revised front fascia, n…

GM anounced that the Cruze next gen will be built in Lordstown Ohio and they will invest over 230 Million Dollars in the new car. It was stated it will have a new body and interior. The story did not give details but it sounds like based on what I read that while it may be on the Delta II it will see more than just a nose job. The work in the body shop is already started and on the way. They did not give a time line but I suspect with the body shop change 2014 may not be out of the question.

GM has had a string of hits lately that demand respect, they also have had a few that are less then thrilling. Some times even a big company needs to step up and realize that bringing in an outside designer will not hurt. www.n2amotors.com This company has used the 1957, 58 & 59 chevy to build their 789, they have used the 63, 65 & 67 corvette to build the new Stinger. These are cars that Chevy could so use in bringing in individualism to drivers who want an amazing car with style. Enjoy the web site at the cars are beautiful.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 26, 2012 Ford and Dodge have stepped up to the plate for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, producing the Mustang and Challenger race cars. Now, its Chevrolet's turn at the plate. Today, the bowtie showed off the new 2013 Camaro NASCAR Nationwide Series racecar. The Camaro race car does closely resembles the actual production mode - though it's still a long way from identical. Underneath, the Camaro isn't that much different from the Ford, Dodge and Toyota. “Chevrolet is proud to bring the Camaro to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013. The Camaro Nationwide race car incorporates many of the distinctive styling element…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 31, 2012 From the "we shot ourselves in the foot again" file; Automotive News reports that sales of the 2013 Malibu Eco have been abysmal. Only 7,000 Malibu Ecos have left dealers from March to June. That's a stark contrast to the 2012 Malibus which have sold almost 100,000 in the same time. "I can't really say a whole lot about how well the Eco has taken off because all of the focus has been on pushing the '12s'. There's cash on the hood" said Jim Stutzman, owner of Jim Stutzman Chevrolet-Cadillac in Winchester, Va. How much cash on the hood for the 2012 Malibu? Automotive News says it can be as high as $6000, mak…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 18, 2012 Remember the Camaro 1LE package? No? Well, you're not the only one as the big news in the Camaro world this year has been the ZL1. Quick refresher on the Camaro 1LE; like the Mustang lineup which offers a car between the GT and GT500 with the Boss 302, the 1LE takes the middle place between the SS and ZL1. So what does the 1LE package offer? Well for starters you get matte black hood, front splitter and rear spoiler. A set of black-finished 10-spoke wheels from the ZL1 come as standard. That's not all of the ZL1 goodies you get in the 1LE. The ZL1 also donates some suspension hardware, much of its fuel sy…

I was checking out GM's photo gallery of the 2013 Sonic RS, and lo and behold... it says "FLOWMASTER" on the exhaust tips. How cool izzat, I ask you? Available in Victory Red, Summit White, Cyber Gray or Black Granite, with a lowered suspension and lower gearing with the 1.4t engine, plus some sporty trim in addition to the Flowmaster setup, this thing should be a HOOT. Wish it came in Blue Topaz.

The driver’s side of the car is a high-quality restoration to correct factory-stock specs. The passenger side is a customized street machine with lots of flashy aftermarket parts and custom bodywork, but deliberately less-exacting craftsmanship. In addition to serving as an eye-catching car-show display piece, this car was built by State Farm employees who love their cars, enjoy restoring cars a…

Just caught a advanced story on the MT first drive. They were impressed even after a shorten run. They liked the styling and vs the Taurus they said it was more quiet, rode better and handled better. Note this was compared to the non SHO model. They noted the car did not feel as tight as it should but it was a hand built preproduction car and they said that is normal and was taken in consideration. They even compared the Taurus as being more Crossover like with its tall roof. They noted that the LTZ is loaded and is much like the Lacrosse in quality of interior. It will also be just over $40,000. The LT model has had a lot of work put into it and it will be very impre…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 9, 2012 Automakers try their best to keep their upcoming cars under wraps - literally and psychically. However, with a click of a shutter or a mouse, the secret they were try to keep is now out in the world. Such could the case with the next generation Corvette. Omega Tool Corp., a Tier One supplier for GM recently put out a video on how they mold the plastic bumper cover for the Corvette. This video normally wouldn't be making everyone go crazy, except this bumper cover isn't for a C6. The one shown in the video carries many of the cues shown on the Stingray concept in 2009. This has caused people to speculate that…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 10, 2012 If you have been thinking about buying a Chevrolet, General Motors has sweeten the deal. Starting today, the automaker is offering consumers its new "Chevy Confidence" program. The program allows consumers who buy a 2012 or 2013 Chevrolet model to return it within 30 or 60 days with less than 4,000 miles on the clock and no damage. GM calls it the "Love It Or Return It" program. Also, GM has applied special pricing on all of its 2012 models on top of all current incentives under the banner of "Total Confidence Pricing." Each 2012 model has a clearly-marked no-haggle price. "We have transformed the Chevrolet…

I attended the NHRA race this week at Summit Motorsports Park at Norwalk Ohio this wheekend. Thank God for Snap On's VIP passes to their hospitality area as it was 101 degrees and 117 heat index. Anyways while I was there Chevy has again appeared at the NHRA races with a new display with a ZL1 Z06 100 Ann Vette, A modified Sonic with racing graphics and lowered with a set of wheels. Finally a Cruze RS with flat black hood, roof and deck lid with a Camaro like hocky stick stripe down the side. While not a real performance option it made for a refreshing look of a modern car with hints of the past. The one thing I noted is they were now promoting a new tag it is a Gold B…

Not sure the actually reason for my post, guess it was more to vent than to ask a question. I love the Supersonic Blue Metallic paint on the Corvette, but really wish they would offer it on the Camaro. Any insights if there are color changes for the upcoming 2013 Camaro? Anyone know if it would be possible to "special order" a new Camaro build with a factory color from another vehicle? I'd be willing to pay a bit extra. Prefer it from the factory as opposed to having it resprayed in a body shop down the road so they get all the jambs and engine bay correctly.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 25, 2012 Two months after NHTSA opened an investigation into the 2011 and 2012 Chevrolet Cruze due to fires, General Motors has announced a recall for 413,418 Cruzes for the 2011 and 2012 model years that were built in the United States through May 2012. The recall affects the Cruze’s engine shield located underneath the engine. The worry is that any fluids that might leak from above and land on the shield could collect and possibly ignite. Dealers will modify the Cruze’s shield and take around 30 minutes to complete. Also, GM is recalling 249 Cruzes that could have partially completed welds in their trunks. Will…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 26, 2012 Chevrolet seems to pulling a page out of Buick’s playbook; offering hybrid versions of their mid and full-size sedans. Buick does it with the Regal and LaCrosse, and Chevrolet currently does it with the Malibu and soon to be Impala. Spy shots of a Impala pre-production prototype running around with no camouflage were caught. This wouldn’t be news, except for one small change. The grill on this particular Impala goes away from the Camaro-esque, three-bar grille, towards a solid insert with two small openings on the top and bottom. This is most likely is an aerodynamic aid to help improve fuel economy and mig…

G. Noble Editor/Reporter CheersandGears.com April 7th, 2012 Without a doubt, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala probably turned out be one of the more pleasant surprises of the recent New York Auto Show. In a mighty effort to shed itself of the current model’s dowdy image as a car that you wouldn’t want to drive even if you rented it, the new car is certainly lightyears ahead of the outgoing model inside and out. It’s also millions of millennia ahead of the outgoing car with its option list too, which almost seems Xeroxed from some snooty banker’s big Mercedes. There is one option that, unlike its competitors from Ford and Chrysler as well as a banker’s Mercedes, won’t be app…

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 vs. 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Comparison Test Sit Down, Brace Yourself Then, just as we were convinced the GT500's power was utterly untouchable, we moved on to handling tests and things changed. Our first hint that there's something truly special about Chevy's ZL1 came when it calmly circled the skid pad at 1.03g — a number higher than the last Chevy Corvette ZR1 we tested and matching the McLaren MP4-12C and Porsche 911 GT2 RS for the highest lateral acceleration we've ever recorded for a production car. Wait. Isn't this a Camaro? Yes, yes it is. The best Camaro ever. At 70.8 mph it was also quicker through the slalom than the GT500, w…
