No other manufacturer does as much sheer performance RIGHT, and still can be driven as a daily driver with no real thoughts of having to keep a Tow truck driver on speed dial. After doing a few special edition models for the Silverado, Chevrolet has decided to do some as well for the Colorado. First up is the Colorado Midnight edition. Following in the footsteps of the larger Silverado Midnight edition, the Colorado Midnight boasts a grille, bowtie, and 18-inch wheels draped in black. Other changes for the Midnight include spray-in bedliner, tonneau cover, and unique sill plates. This special edition won't be limited to one cab and engine configuration. You'll be able to get this package on any cab configuration, along with engine and the choice of either two or four-wheel drive. Next is the Trail Boss which is available on the Z71 trim…

Saw this..Thought it was interesting. Thought I'd share. I haven't read it all yet because I gotta get going some place but thought I'd post it real quick. " Last time we checked in on the reportedly fussy Corvette Z06 engine, it was leaking vital fluids after Fox News reporter Gary Gastelu took it to the track. Now it appears that Chevrolet has a fix for at least one of the Z06’s reported engine problems: change the oil, stat. According to a General Motors spokesman, the catastrophic engine failures all seem to have three things in common: early production builds, oil contamination and low miles (under 2,000). (Maybe that explains the one that bought the farm at…

David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com 1969 Chevrolet Corvette 427/430 L88 http://rickcole.com/1969-chevrolet-corvette-427430-l88-coupe/ Found this on Rick Cole Auctions web site, was not aware myself of the L88 Corvette, but WOW talk about SEX on Wheels! This is a freakin BEAUTIFUL Corvette. Quoting from their page as this car goes on auction and based on their estimate is expected to sell between $650,00 to $750,000 dollars. Only 2,576 original miles. 1 of 10 built with a 4.56 positraction rear axle. I love this part of the stated info: When launched in late 1967, the L88 option created much confusion among…

Today, Chevrolet and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have released the numbers for the 2016 Volt and they are noticeably better than the outgoing model. The EPA rates the Volt at 106 Miles Per Gallon Equivalent (MPGe) combined when operating solely on electricity, and 42 MPG combined when the gas engine is running. To put this into perspective, the current Volt gets 98 MPGe when running on electricity and 39 MPG combined when the gas engine is running. Overall electric range has seen a big jump as well with the 2016 Volt. The EPA says the model will deliver 53 Miles of range on electric power alone. That is a huge increase compared to the 39 Miles of tot…

Next-gen Chevy Camaro ZL1 teases big changes under its camo Autoblog August 3, 2015 With work complete on the lighter, stiffer 2016 Camaro, it's time for Chevrolet's engineers to really start having fun by developing the next, ZL1 version. Here it is for the first time. Unfortunately, the muscle car is still wearing quite a bit of camouflage, but the concealment isn't enough to hide some of the meaner model's more obvious performance tweaks. Starting from the front, this Camaro now wears a much more aggressive front fascia with bigger air inlets. Managing the airflow around the engine bay is clearly a big deal because another photo reveals a fairly large extr…

We have been waiting a long time for numbers to be released on Chevrolet Colorado Duramax Diesel and Chevrolet has released some of those numbers today. Let us begin with power ratings. The 2.8L Duramax turbodiesel four-cylinder will pack 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This engine will come with a six-speed automatic and automatic-locking rear differential as standard equipment. Next is tow ratings. The Colorado Duramax can tow up to 7,770 pounds for the two-wheel drive model, while the four-wheel drive model sees its tow rating drop to around 7,600 pounds. Chevrolet is hard at work on a new three-row crossover that will sit in between the Equinox and Traverse according to Automotive News. Speaking with people familiar with the matter, the new crossover will use the short-wheelbase version of the next Chevrolet Traverse's platform. To make room for this model, the Equinox will shrink down and move to a platform that underpins the Chevrolet Cruze. This move follows the footsteps of other automakers that are expanding to offer four different crossover sizes - ranging from subcompact to full-size. Now the new Chevrolet crossover will not be the only GM vehicle to use the short-wheelbase Traverse's platform. The upcoming…

"There’s no doubt it’s a world-class machine at speed – and at coming down from it. Some high-performance cars can be squirrely when you stomp on the brakes at triple-digit speeds, but the Z06 stays straight as an arrow, even in mixed conditions. Only in the tightest hairpins does it object to your commands in the slightest, eventually bringing its rear end around and then catching it if you don’t. Despite the massive amount of power on tap, it’s easy to find your confidence in this car, and learn a few things along the way. That is, until you reach the end of the road. After a few lapping sessions, the engine in mine unceremoniously called it quits. There was oil, some …

Two years from Chevrolet's introduction of the latest-generation Silverado, the company has unveiled the facelifted 2016 model. The big change is up front where Chevrolet designers transformed the clip. A new body-color strip across the middle of the grille is paired with new headlights. Higher trim models such as the Z71 get dual strands of LEDs. There is also new bumper and hood. At this time, we don't know what lower-tier models look like or even the rest of the truck. There is some good news as Chevrolet says the 8-speed automatic transmission will be expanded, but no mention as to what engines. The 5.3L V8 is a likely model. Also coming is a new version of Ch…

This morning at a event in Detroit, Chevrolet introduced the 2016 Camaro Convertible. The Convertible's basic shape is mostly the same as the coupe that was shown last month. The difference comes in the roof. For the 2016 model, Chevrolet has introduced a fully-automatic top that can be raised or lowered within 30 seconds at speeds up to 30 MPH. The top also boasts acoustic sound-dampening material and thermal barriers to help make the Camaro Convertible a little bit easier to live with. Engines for the Camaro Convertible are the same as the coupe: Turbocharged 2.0L Four-Cylinder with 275 HP 3.6L V6 with 355 HP 6.2L V8 with 455 HP All engines come with the…

The big news about the Ford F-150 is how it's constructed from aluminum which allows for improved fuel economy and massive weight loss. Chevrolet is going to be taking aim at this with a new social media campaign and ad. Automotive News reports that the ad features a focus group asked the question if a grizzly bear lumbers into the room, which cage would you take? The aluminum or steel one? Most of the group goes for the steel one. "Our trucks are built with high-strength steel. We think that's a tactical advantage and an important differentiator. We have a pretty healthy sense of humor about it," said Sandor Piszar, the marketing director for the Silverado. This ad br…

This evening at a event in Detroit, Chevrolet unveiled the second-generation Cruze. The new Cruze looks like a shrunken-down version of the Malibu with similar profiles. There is a reason to this as Cruze was styled only a few feet away from the new Malibu. The Cruze features such details as a lower front end, mesh grilles, and distinctive character lines. Size-wise, the Cruze is slightly larger than current model with overall length up 2.7 inches (183.7 inches vs. 181 inches) and the wheelbase is up 0.6 inches (106.3 inches vs. 105.7 inches). The interior has been updated with more soft-touch materials, and the latest version of Chevrolet's MyLink which offers co…

A couple years back, then General Motors' North American president, Mark Reuss said “That was a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake,” when asked why Chevrolet didn't sell the Cruze Hatchback in North America. That appears to changing with the next-generation Cruze. Automotive News reports that Chevrolet showed off a Cruze Hatchback at its national dealer meeting in Las Vegas last week. According to sources, the model was billed as a 2016 model, but a launch date wasn't announced. Chevrolet will be revealing the 2016 Cruze at a media event this week with sales starting sometime in the first quarter of next year. Automotive News guesses sales of the hatchback could star…

Chevrolet has an interesting week. Tomorrow, the automaker will be revealing the next-generation Cruze. Then a day after, the 6th generation Camaro Convertible will be shown for the first time. Unfortunately for Chevrolet, someone posted the images of the new Camaro Convertible on Chevy's site. The company has pulled them down, but the folks at Camaro6.com got the images. Not surprisingly, the convertible looks much the same as the coupe. We'll have more details on the drop-top Camaro later this week. Source: Camaro6.com View full article

Chevrolet has been teasing it for awhile and at a event in Belle Isle - near Detroit, MI - Camaro Six or the 2016 Camaro has been introduced. Now if you were expecting a new style for the Camaro, then you'll be slightly disappointed as the basic shape is the same. Sure there are some slight changes to the front and rear, but Chevrolet played it safe. Don't mess with success. At least under the skin, there are some massive changes. The big story is the Camaro utilizing a modified version of the Alpha platform found under the Cadillac ATS and CTS. Chevrolet says the Camaro is 28 percent more rigid than the outgoing model thanks to the switch to Alpha. Also the Camar…

I have posed this question before to hard core enthusiasts and most always say no.. because of tradition. My thought is that the Corvette is now essentially in Porsche territory in terms of quality, fit and finish.. and obviously performance and tech. Many non-enthusiasts don;t even kno that the Corvette is a Chevy. I $h! U not. Most people I talk to who are not enthusiasts think the Corvette is a.. Corvette. They kno the cost is not cheap.. and in reality Chevy is the "every man" brand of GM. It is on par in terms of perceptional with Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. My thought is screw tradition. It holds the brand back: 1) Porsche is no longer "tr…

Copy/paste will have to do till I figure stuff out, but trust me it's worth it.)Much has been made of the new Camaro's size, and the introduction of the new one highlights that. Now, thanks to Car and Driver, you can see just how much the Camaro has grown/shrunk over the years. The age of the connected car is here as General Motors announced that 14 vehicles from Chevrolet's 2016 lineup will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility through the MyLink infotainment system. This means GM is one of the first automakers to offer both systems, giving owners a relief when it comes to choosing one over the other. “For most of us, our smartphones are essential. Partnering with Apple and Google to offer CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the widest range of models in the industry is a great example of how Chevrolet continues to democratize technology that’s important to our customers,” said Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors. Well what do we have here? A new set of spy shots show off the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze without any camouflage - most likely due to the model being part of a photoshoot. The overall shape of the new Cruze is very striking and takes some ideas from the new Malibu and Volt with a rising beltline and sloping roof. Other details to take into consideration is a new design of the split grille, headlights, and flared out fenders. The new Cruze is expected to get the turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder that was introduced in the Malibu earlier this year. A diesel and plug-in hybrid are rumored to be available as well. The Cruze is expected to debut at the LA Auto Show in N…

Over the weekend, Chevrolet announced the pricing for the 2016 Volt before it goes on sale later this year. Pricing for new model will begin at $33,995 (includes a $825 destination charge). Chevrolet is quick to point out the 2016 Volt is almost $1,200 less that current Volt on sale. Add in Federal and State incentives and you could drive away with a Volt for as low as $24,995. Aside from the price cut, the 2016 Volt sees an increase in overall electric range (50 vs. 31 miles) and a improvement for the gas engine's fuel economy (41 MPG vs. 37 MPG). "The next generation Chevrolet Volt delivers more technology, the ability to drive further between gas fill ups and now wit…

With the new Ford F-150 selling and Nissan's next-generation Titan just around the corner, the pickup truck market is once again heating up. General Motors smallest electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Spark EV will be getting a price cut. Announced today, the Chevrolet Spark EV will now ring at $25,995 (including freight), a decrease of $1,675. General Motors notes that with federal and state incentives, along with customer cash can get into a Spark EV for $14,995. There is also a lease special available on Spark EV, with Chevrolet offering a 39 month lease for $139 a month. More important is that the lease deal doesn't require a down payment, just the usual tax, title, license, and dealer fees. “Chevrolet is committed to making EV driving more accessible, affordable and fun. We know that Chevrolet will be sending the Bolt concept car into production late next year, but there a number of items still up in the air such as what will the production model will be called. Surely Chevrolet won't keep the Bolt name as it introduces confusion with the Volt, right? Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet's marketing chief tells USA Today that Bolt is sticking around. "The decision is made. The name won't be changed,"said Mahoney Mahoney explained that while the two names do sound similar, it provides Chevrolet "an advantage." That advantage is the Bolt name "association with Chevrolet is nearly immediate,"since the Volt is a well known Chevrolet. Mahoney went onto …

General Motors will be putting a halt on production of the current Volt starting next month. According to The Detroit News, General Motors will put the Detroit-Hamtramck on a six-week break to not only get the plant ready to build the next-generation Volt, but also reduce the amount of Volts sitting on dealer lots. “First-generation Volt will stop building at the very end of May to get ready for model change,” said GM spokeswoman Michelle Malcho. According to Wards Auto data, Chevrolet dealers currently have a 210-day supply of Volts. A 60-day supply of a vehicle is considered healthy. Through the month of March, GM has only moved 1,784 Volts, a 48 percent drop when co…

We're just over 2 weeks away from the 2015 New York Auto Show where Chevrolet will take the wraps off the next iterations of the Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Spark. We also know from Chevy's teaser picture of 5 in 2015 shown below that the Chevrolet Cruze will not be far behind. What we've uncovered however is that Chevrolet appears to be planning to go on building the current design of Cruze and Malibu right along side their newer-bodied versions. According to the General Motors Vin Decoder website, the current Cruze and Malibu will soldier on for at least another model year. For 2016, both the current Cruze and Malibu will gain the Limited moniker, just like big b…

Given 20 or 30 years, how collectible will C5 andC6 Corvettes be? I am thinking they will be MUCH more of a collectors item than the C3 and C4 Corvettes, for a few reasons. 1. They are much better cars, and much more driver friendly. 2. They are being driven and raced MUCH more than the earlier C3 and C4 Corvettes-seems like everyone I know with these is beating the hell out of it on the road, on the track, autocrossing it, etc. This will mean that fewer cars will survive and more people will have more vivid memeories of just what these cars can do. Also, competition history helps a car become collectable. Why else do cars like the C2 Corvette, Early Camaro, GT35…

The Chevrolet Bolt concept will be heading into production in late 2016, with sales beginning in 2017. But there is the question of whether or not the 'Bolt' name will go on the production model or not. The name is confusing as it sounds similar to the Chevrolet Volt. "Some people think it's confusing. "People are having some fun with it. It is generating awareness, which is good. It's so conversational," said Alan Batey, president of GM North America to the Detroit Free Press. Batey did say that there is a debate going on General Motors of whether to keep the Bolt name or go with something else. "We're still in the decision phase. It could go either way," said Batey…

General Motors has issued a recall for 64,000 Chevrolet Volts from the 2011-13 model years to prevent carbon monoxide buildup in a enclosed space when a driver forgets to shut off the vehicle. Automotive News reports that if a driver leaves their Volt running in the electric mode, the vehicle will drain the battery and cause the gas engine to kick on. "If the gas engine runs for a long period of time within an enclosed space, such as a garage, carbon monoxide could build up," GM said in a statement. GM says they are aware of two people who had carbon monoxide exposure from the Volt. At the moment, the Volt has a chime that come on if a driver exits the vehicle and lea…

By removing the box (a $300 credit towards the MSRP), Chevrolet is giving fleet and commercial buyers more flexibility in their trucks. The box delete option will only be available on two-wheel drive extended cab work truck models and only with the 3.6 liter, 305 hp V6. Buyers will also be able to opt for a rear seat delete to have additional cargo capacity in the cab. While Chevrolet says that the Colorado is the only truck in the mid-size truck segment with the box-delete option, that status may not last for long if the rumors of…

Although both Ram and Toyota have shown they are ready and willing to give Ford's SVT Raptor supertruck a challenge, one notable truck maker still declines to join the fight: General Motors. That, however, could be set to change soon. GM registered the "Z71 Trail Boss" trademark with the US Trademark and Patent Office on January 14, 2015. The trademark filing states the name is to be used on passenger vehicles, specifically light duty pickups. The new trademark – the "Trail Boss" portion of the name especially – suggests that there could be new, souped-up versions of GM's Z71 spec Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups in the pipeline. How GM could upgrade its Z71 …

Chevrolet engineers want to do more to the SS sedan. Motor Trend reports that engineers want to do new a handling package for the SS like the 1LE for the Camaro. The package would include a retuned suspension setup, new dampers, and tires. The report says work on this package would take around three to six months to complete. However, trying to convince the higher-ups to go forward on this project - though no reason as to why they might not approve it wasn't given. Source: Motor Trend View full article

General Motors is going custom crazy with their trucks. In the past few weeks, the automaker has introduced the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport and GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition. Now at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Expo in San Francisco, GM has introduced another custom package. Meet the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition. Like the Custom Sport, the Midnight Edition takes a Silverado Z71 and adds an all blacked-out treatment with body-colored grille, bumper, side moldings, and beltline moldings. A set of eighteen-inch wheels done up in black finish off the exterior. “The Midnight special edition, like our recently announced Custom …

It seems the Chevrolet Bolt concept we saw at Detroit last month is possibly going into production. Reuters has learned from sources that production for the Bolt and sister Opel model will kick off in October 2016 at General Motors' Lake Orion assembly plant. The plant is currently home Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano. Sources say the company is planning to build around 25,000 to 30,000 units per year. As for Bolt itself, it will use GM's Gamma small car platform and will share the same basic set of components as the next-generation Sonic due out in late 2016. Sales will begin in early 2017. A GM spokesman declined to comment on the report. Source: Reuters View f…

After a short absence, I find myself rejoining the GM family and reconnecting here on C&G. I did quite a bit of research before selecting my 2015 Impala LTZ, and I could not be more pleased! Having a healthy GM MasterCard bonus & rebate made the deal even more attractive.

What is it really? I know it is a suspension package... but that's about all I know about it. My Avalanche was a Z71 and it rode like a Cadillac (which I liked), some of the newer Z71s seem to ride rougher.

If you've been waiting for a row your own American Performance Sedan, the Chevrolet SS with 6-speed manual just arrived on Chevrolet's configuration site. Before you try saying "Charger Hellcat", Dodge has said that they won't be building a manual transmission version of that car. In the SS, the 6-speed manual is a no cost option on a car with very few selectable options. In fact, the only other selectable factory options are a $900 sunroof and a $500 full size spare tire. The SS comes standard with leather, Chevrolet's MyLink with 8 inch screen, and Navigation. Selecting the 6-speed manual also changes the rear axle ratio from 3.27 to 3.70, so acceleration from the 415…

The current Chevrolet Corvette Stingray's design cues will used on upcoming Chevrolet models. Automotive News had the chance to speak with GM's vice president of global design, Ed Welburn who said designers are hard at work trying to infuse the Corvette Stingray's DNA into newer Chevrolet models. "As Malibu and Cruze and Volt come to market, you'll be able to see a subtle link between some of the form vocabulary for all of them and Corvette," said Welburn. "I always look at the hood of the Corvette and the sectioning, the way it's taut, very lean, very sporty. That will be a part of really everything we do for Chevrolet." The hope with adding some of the Corvette's desi…

I've been driving this magnificent "de-contented" XTS for 1 year and 3 months now after relinquishing an equally powered LLT 3.6L 2011 Camaro for a need of more room. This car is fantastic. In taking the XTS and Lacrosse and giving Chevy a version GM created essentially a Blue Collar worker who just won the Lottery. I mean that. The Drivability of this car is pretty fantastic. As mentioned before I came from a smaller, RWD coupe that handled damn nice and could seriously get up and go for a V6 weighing almost 3800lbs in the Camaro. That car was clocked in at about 5.6secs on a good day. Catch it in the right shift and U could take down V8 powered Chargers. N…

What can you say about the Chevrolet Malibu? Not much that is very positive to it. The model feels rushed and despite an emergency refresh, sales have been declining during the year. General Motors is hoping to change their fortunes by "hustling" a new Malibu to come out in a year. GM's head of global product development, Mark Reuss said at a investor presentation that the next Malibu will have "groundbreaking design but also groundbreaking technology." "When is the last time you saw a [midsize] car this distinctive and this dramatic from General Motors?" Reuss said to investors when showing a picture of the next Malibu. Stop me if you have heard this before: Motor Trend is reporting that next Corvette ZR1 is going to a mid-engine layout according to a number of sources. One of the sources follows this up by saying the next-generation Corvette will also go to a mid-engine layout, Now this isn't the first time there have been reports of a mid-engine Corvette. Since the early sixties, reports of Chevrolet doing a mid-engine Corvette have been reported. This is only helped with General Motors showing a number of mid-engine Corvette concepts over the years. So what makes this rumor different from all the other ones? A few items. First is that the next-generation Camaro will utilize the Alph…

Since Holden announced that it would end Australian production in 2017 and that the Commodore would go to a front-wheel drive platform (rumored to be the next-generation Opel Insignia), questions have been raised as to what would happen to the Chevrolet SS. The SS is American-ized version of the Holden Commodore with a 6.2L V8 engine and the choice of either a six-speed manual or automatic. For a time, it was rumored that the SS would live on. But a new report says the SS is a dead car walking. Now, after a private event for current Volt owners was held, another teaser image has surfaced. It was sent in to Jalopnik by an attendee of the event who described the new car as "fantastic." This reader also dished on some additional details regarding its upgraded charging system, including a GPS-based system that allows you to tailor your charge depending on whether you're at home or the office. This system also alloys you to program the time and amperage for charging on or off peak hours. With a reveal set for the 2015 North…

Front-wheel-drive is standard and all-wheel-drive will be a $1,500 stand alone option on all trim levels. The Trax shares its platform with the already on sale Buick Encore and will likely share that vehicle's 5-star front and side crash test ratings. The only engine offered is the familiar 1.4 litre turbo unit producing 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque and EPA rated for 26 mpg city and 34mpg highway in front wheel drive models. The Best Driver’s Car contenders are selected from all new or significantly revised performance cars launched in the 12 months prior to the test. To pick the winner, the editors of Motor Trend conduct objective and subjective testing – including digitally instrumented laps at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and high-speed driving up and down a 4.3-mile hill climb on a closed rural highway – to determine which car delivers the most engaging experience behind the wheel. After completing that battery of tests, the editors of Motor Trend wrote: “The transformation of the fifth-generation Camaro from ‘muscle car that handles pretty well’ to Best Driver’s Car winner is astou…

If you have your heart set on getting a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette, you'll be waiting a bit for the chance. General Motors announced today that it has issued two stop-sale notices that cover 2,800 2015 model year Corvettes. About 2,000 Corvettes have a potential problem with the driver's side airbag which may have been not properly attached and could separate in a crash. Another 800 Corvettes sitting on dealer lots may have only have one parking brake cable attached and not two. This causes the parking brake not to be as effective as it should be. Now GM hasn't said if it will go ahead and issue a recall for these two problems. We'll keep you updated if they do. Source: G…

The 2015 Corvette Z06 packs 650 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque and is Chevy’s most powerful Corvette in its 62-year history. Earlier this year, officials said limited quantities of the sports car would be available late this year. “The 2015 Corvette Z06’s performance and technical capabilities place it in the elite fraternity of supercars,” Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, said in a statement. “Very few cars in the world deliver 650 horsepower.” GM debuted the 2015 Corvette Z06 this year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2013 Corvette Z06 started at $77,590 and generated 505 horsepower and 470 foot-pounds of…

2015 brings a big change for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as the six-speed automatic transmission says adiós and the eight-speed automatic says hello. The new eight-speed features a more aggressive first gear ratio and lower rear axle ratio. This allows the 0-60 MPH time to drop from 3.8 to 3.7 seconds and a improved quarter mile time of 11.9 seconds (times are for the Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 package). Fuel economy also sees a slight bump with Corvette Stingray now getting 29 MPG on the highway. City and combined numbers are still the same (16 and 20 MPG respectively). Chevrolet appears to have some big changes in store for the next Malibu as shown by some spy shots. A huge change is with the greenhouse as the mule gets a sleek roofline that slopes downward dramatically to a shorten rear end. The speculation is that Chevrolet is taking some ideas from Chrysler 200 and Ford Fusion to inject some European design into the next model. We can't tell much about the front aside from the fascia appearing to stay the same. There are mechanical changes in store as well. Ford is readying the 2015 Mustang, while Dodge is getting the refreshed 2015 Challenger ready to be sent out to dealers. What does Chevrolet have in store for the Camaro? Well the first set of spy shots have come out and it appears there is a lot in store. Underneath all of the heavy camouflage, we can tell that Chevrolet is going with a more aggressive look and a lowered roofline. The wheels appear to have been moved closer to either end, and the rear end has been trimmed a little. Other details to take note include the quad exhaust pipes, large hood vents, and a big spoiler. This leads to some speculation that we're looking at high-performance model such as the SS or Z…

Those models include, Chevrolet Silverado GMC Sierra GMC Yukon Denali/Yukon XL Denali The catch is that all of these models must have the 6.2L V8 to get the eight-speed. Automobile Magazine reports that the Cadillac Escalade is also line to get the eight-speed transmission in the near future. Five months after Chevrolet revealed to the world the 2015 Corvette Z06, the brand has announced the final performance numbers and they are impressive to say in the least. When the model was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet said the Z06 was producing 'at least 625 horsepower', but they needed to do final testing to get the ratings. Well, the Z06's supercharged 6.2L V8 has been SAE-certified and is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Not only is this the most powerful production Corvette, it also happens to be the most powerful production model ever built by GM. 2014 Chevrolet SS: A Sleeper Really Wakes up on the Track Written by: Elana Scherr on May 1 2014 4:32 PM Driving the 2014 Chevrolet SS is like meeting some boring middle manager for a lunch date and finding out they take part in those strong man competitions where flabby-looking men and women lift tree trunks over their heads and pull city buses with ropes of their own hair. For the past few years, Toyota was the only truck brand to use the SAE's J2807 towing standard to rate the maximum towing. Well another automaker has joined Toyota in using J2807. Today, GM announced the tow ratings for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. GM says both models retain maximum tow rating of 12,000 pounds. But for a Silverado/Sierra 1500 to achieve that, you need to have a two-wheel drive double-cab model equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine and maximum towing package. Other configurations of GM's full-size truck lineup have seen their rating drop by an average of 400 pounds. For example, the four-wheel drive crew cab equipped with 5.3L V8 has …

PickupTrucks.com is reporting that General Motors will be quietly dropping the light-duty full-size vans in the 2015 model year. That means the only vans you can buy at a Chevrolet or GMC dealer will be the 2500, 3500 and 4500 versions. GM sales spokesman Jim Cain said the 1500 models only made up 23 percent of the Chevrolet Express and 7 percent of the GMC Savana. "We recognize that the van space has changed radically. The 1500-series van was the last vehicle [of its type] that has been produced in North America that was under 8,500 pounds, and it had some very unique attributes to it," said Joe Langhauser, product manager for GM's full-size vans. There appears to be three different Chevrolet Cruzes in play; the refreshed 2015 Cruze, the Chinese market Cruze, and the upcoming 2016 Cruze that was recently caught by a spy photographer. Caught undisguised, the 2016 Cruze shares a number of design items with the Chinese-market version that give it a somewhat tidy, if somewhat boring design. The front end wears a nose that is similar to the Sonic with the spilt grille and sculpted hood. The overall profile reminds us of the current Honda Civic. What is still unknown is what will power the next Cruze, but one or more of the engines from the Next-Generation Ecotec family going into production later this year is most lik…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 26, 2013 The marketplace for small and midsize pickups is beginning to get exciting once again with the introduction of the Chevrolet Colorado. Automotive News reports that it could be getting more exciting in the coming future. One thing that dealers have been clamoring for the new Colorado is an off-road version, something akin to the S-10 ZR2 package which offered higher ground clearance, stronger shocks, beefier axles and other enhancements. "The dealers already have been asking for an off-road model. We're considering it," said Jeff Luke, General Motors' chief engineer for trucks. GM North America Preside…

3-3-3 Formula 300 Horsepower 3,000 Pounds 30,000 Dollars It is very easy to lose sight of what makes a car successful in the market place. Yes, styling, brand image and engineering excellence play huge roles. But, ultimately, the best selling cars are often not the most stylish, prestigious and well engineered. When it comes to sporty cars it is important that we recognize that they appeal most to younger people who are starting out in life and have limited financial resources. Before we get to making a car look pretty, marketing it properly and making sure it doesn't break, I believe that it is important that we define it in such a way that is is fast enough, agile en…

The New York Auto Show is just a couple weeks away and news of what will be appearing is beginning to show up. Autoblog has learned that Chevrolet will have three major debuts at the show. We've seen the shots of the new Chevrolet Cruze wearing layers of camouflage, but some new shots out of China could give us our best look of what the automaker has in mind for the next-generation model. Chinese automotive site, auto.sohu.com got their hands on what is reported to be a un-camouflaged next-generation Cruze sitting in a parking lot. Judging from the pictures, Chevrolet is making some dramatic changes. The front end looks to be borrowing some ideas from the SS with two distinctly separate grilles and a large Bowtie emblem. A set of narrowed headlights sit on either side. One other design cue to take note of is the arch in the rear wheel wells, something very…

I have some speed stats for you. This vehicle runs 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. The quarter mile is eaten up in 14.1 seconds at a terminal speed of 99 mph. Am I talking about some 2-seater sports car? NOOOOOO... these are actual instrumented figures for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crewcab 4X4 High Country, with the blazing new 6.2L V8 engine. That is the definition of BAD.ASS.
