When is the Silverado/Sierra going to debut? I thought I had seen that the Sierra was going to be at the Houston Auto Show back in January, but it didnt come here. Then the spy pics popped up and what not. So what's the hold up? I mean...it is obvious now that the SUV platforms all look the same. Tahoe/Burban/Avalanche share the same nose. Will the trucks also share it as well...or will it be different? I want them shown already!

Here is some of what Bob had to say on the new Camaro. This was posted on the z28Camaro.com web site. "All of us are hoping (the Camaro) will be a production-approved program" in the very near future, said GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, adding that "We're all working on it as if it were an approved program." The "heritage" Camaro, which debuted in January, proved one of the most popular concepts at this year's Detroit auto show, but even as GM planners continue studying ways to craft a profitable business case, development work is moving ahead. "We're not wasting any time, said Lutz. "There is no reason to assume they would turn it down," he said of the GM board. Meanwhile,…

I saw both today and I gotta admit, what a transformation! Its not sexy, but the sport interior in black, with chrome bits, the new front end, the ground effects and spoilers and especially the exhaust tips REALLY LOOK NICE. too bad the wheels look horribly cheap. Why wasn't this car here two years ago? Or for me, 4 months ago? I might actually take one of these over a Fusion. Alas, still only pushrods under the hood and only a 4 speed auto. YEESH. With the 3.6vvt or the upcoming 260hp turbo ecotec this car would be so sahwet for me. Especially with a 5 or 6 speed manual or manumatic. AND BETTER WHEELS. One was blue and one was black i think and both had …

I drove a new Impala LT with the 3.9 in southern CA for a few days -- part of the Avis rental fleet. It drove great, so much quieter and smoother than my '04 LS with the 3.8 that I have at home. I can think of a few changes that I'd like to see in the '07 when it comes out this fall: more exterior colors for the SS (dark gray, pale blue metallic, just for starters); new wheel rims for the SS (I really don't like the factory rims at all, almost would rather have the LTZ rims); twin chrome pipes for any 3.9 powered car (LT or LTZ); change the spoiler to make it more subtle; it almost looks silly on the LT and LTZ; subtle front and tail clip changes; for the f…

Here are more pictures from my trip to the Chicago Auto Show. The first picture is of the the Trailblazer SS which I absolutely love. The Chevy Equinox just needs a bigger engine and I think it would be a hit. I love the blue on it. Next are two pictures of the '07 Tahoe. One is a base model and one is a top of the line model. I also love the interior of the new Tahoe which compared to pre-Bob Lutz era truck interiors look great. I like the exterior of the Colorado but it needs a bigger engine and a freshened interior. (see above pic. for Colorado interior)

well, i must admit....i was dissapointed when my wife said she wanted to turn the Trailblazer in on a HHR. she recently found out she was going to be transfered which will result in a 90 mile / day commute. i already have a 88 mile commute in the opposite direction. the TB got about 18mpg combined....that wasnt gonna cut it. i am 25 and we have a 7 week old and wasting $$ on gas at this times just doesnt seem wise. i get roughly 25 mpg in my MAXima.... when my wife wanted a HHR i sorta scoffed. my father in law works for GM and we do get the employee discount, so that of course would be nice, but a HHR? well.........i love it. i have been looking for a G35, TL, L…

Valentine's Day is for lovers. Some might say my "love" is the Monte Carlo. Well, if that's true, then I received the perfect package in the mail today ... a whole bunch of old NMCOA (National Monte Carlo Owners Association) magazines, from another fellow MC enthusiast. Flipping through the old issues opened my eyes to how much the NMCOA has changed over the years. In some of the older issues, the pictures of the convention included pictures of the people winning the awards ... not just the MCs. Older issues also had a bunch of pictures, technical articles, MC information, etc. The December 1987 issue included a picture of a blue '84 MCSS that was owned by someone i…

My post was taken away with the demise of the Outlook thread. Anyway, I am hearing that GM is seriously considering the possible closer of Moraine, OH. This would be the end of the Trailblazer and Envoy as we know them. In fact, the next generation Trailblazer might in fact be a crossover after 2008. Something to think about. :AH-HA_wink:

Is Blue Devil Alive? Chevy Performance Might Be Heating Up By WES RAYNAL AutoWeek | Published 02/08/06, 12:20 pm et Chevy officials at the Chicago auto show aren't comfirming that a higher-performance version of the Corvette Z06, called Blue Devil, is under development. But they certainly are not downplaying the possibilities. "We'd love to have it," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. Sources say the Blue Devil might go with a supercharged version of the Z06's 7.0-liter V8, producing upward of 600 hp. Look for lightweight carbon fiber body parts to reduce weight to about 2900 pounds. Pricing will likely start somewhere around $100,000 if and when the ca…

I was thinking about the "hood scoop" on the Camaro yesterday, and whether it was really functional or not. Anyways, regardless of whether it is functional, it's not needed with the LS2. The LS2 is a "bottom breather" meaning it takes in air from underneath. The reason the Z06 has a little hood scoop is because the LS7 is not a bottom breather but rather a "front breather" meaning it takes in air from the front/top of the engine. So, knowing that, even if the scoop is funtional, it probably does very little for cooling the LS2, so... maybe that hints at the LS7 or another front breathing engine being possible in the future for the Camaro.

I was talking to a insider and they might be giving the Monte Carlo the boot. And replace it with what you ask? A Sports coupe that is in "Design and Test Stage", So the Camaro might be out of the question. Getting info was really hard since His/Her job might be at risk but, i got permission to say this from them. The Drive train is most likly a RWD to AWD. But FWD may be chossen. Power train will either be a V6 standard most likely the 3.9 i think that will push 250 HP. with optional I5 engine. But a "SS" or "GTP" Package. will have a V8 to push from 375 to 425 hp. If FWD is chossen a 310 horsepower 5.3 will most likey be a the engine. …

A topic that hasn't been touched on a lot is the interior of the Camaro, and something that has sort of worried me since I first saw it. The interior is of course, unorthodox, and its a love it or hate it design. Plenty of people were turned off by it, saying it was too radical for a car of this caliber. Some loved it for its retro cues. So I wanted to ask what everyone here actually thought of the interior, how much will be changed? Should a lot be changed? I myself like it with the exception of the long orange trim around the inside dash and doors. Will it be toned down and tame like the Challengers?

Hot Tahoe fuels GM optimism Sales of revamped Chevy SUV were up 50% in January despite slump in large-truck segment. Brett Clanton / The Detroit News When the lease on his old Chevy Tahoe expired, Michael Wujczyk toyed with going in another direction. Maybe something smaller. Maybe a different brand. But when he saw the 2007 Tahoe, he stopped looking. "They just made some great changes to the truck," said the 52-year-old door distributor from Farmington Hills, who leased one of the new SUVs last month. Such praise has helped GM get off to a good start with the redesigned Tahoe -- the nation's top-selling large SUV and a critical piece of the automaker's comeback stra…

Automotive News / January 30, 2006 - 6:00 am General Motors' product czar Robert Lutz doesn't want car clinics to dilute the Chevrolet Camaro concept's styling if the vehicle gets the OK for production. "There will be no clinics," he told employees at GM's tech center in Warren, Mich., a few days before the concept car's Jan. 10 unveiling at the Detroit auto show. One source said designers gave a collective sign of relief, since car clinics often have been blamed for watering down the styling of GM's vehicles as they morphed from concepts to production vehicles. http://autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...2/1003&refsect=

I went to the Auto Show today with low expectations. Didn't think the Camaro would be there. There was a considerable amount of people there however. The new Escalade was there to meet you at the front door, drawing a moderately large sized crowd. As we walked through, finally getting to the Chevy exhibit, and looking through the new Tahoes that were out on the floor. Then I saw the 5 projection screens that said "Camaro". And all I said was "Theres no way..." So ignoring everything, I ran over there. Needless to say, it was the single largest crowd of the day gathered around this beast. The 17" wheel design isn't the greatest in my mind but looked ok I guess. Exterior looked nice as usual. Could see a little warping at the bottom part of the rear bumper plastic. Front end is pretty low due to the spoiler. Interior had it's ups and downs, Although I looked over 2 LTZ Hoe's at NAIAS I can't remember the differences enough to compare between those and the LT1. I recently had the opportunity to pick up a light blue LS Impala from Enterprise for 4 full days to really get a feel for this revamped Chevy. To my surprise and delight this base LS model came with a trip computer and dual trip odometers so I could see what the computer said I was averaging and what the calculator said. This was again the LS model without the 2 only options of ABS and remote starter prep. My first observation upon pulling out of Enterprise and getting up to speed was how much quieter this 06 was compared to my previous 00 base model. This pleased me to see that Chevy has finally quelled some of the road noise that plagued earlier versions. This new I…

How come I never see anything in this section about the Equinox? I know they sell pretty well. Does anyone have one or know somebody with one? I'd be interested to hear some feedback about the Nox. :)

as i have stated before, i am 25 and have never wanted for a American before. i currently drive a Maxima (which i have loved to the bone for all 198,000 miles. but soon i will be purchasing a new auto and i want to take advantage of the GMS (employee) pricing i receive from my father in law. the only American car that has struck me with a gasp has been the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, but for me and my family (wife and 5 week old) it just isnt a realistic option at this point. As many have read my review of the Lucerne, i loved what i saw and drove. a black on black CXS with all the chrome trim was the best looking GM car i have seen to date, with the exception of the CTS-V…

Hoping insiders can give me a bit of clarification. The current GMT201 MiniVans were supposed to be replaced by GMT962 about 2009. With all of GM's cancellations and delays I have heard GMT962 got replaced by GMT511. Can the insiders confirm or deny this and if its alive has it been delayed (to when?) Is it still going to be on the Lambda platform? Thanks

I'm setting here watching the CNN this morning and they have a small segment on NAIAS. They start talking about the Camaro and show video of it while on the bottom of the screen in big letters reads "CHRYSTLER INTRODUCES CONCEPT CAMARO".... If this is how accurate they are, I wonder how true most of the news is from them????

I was thinking of this today....... A 69' Camaro SS, 69' Mustang Mach 1, and a 69' Charger R/T are at a light. The light turns green some squeeling of tires. then the Camaro wins. Screen fades to black. "The Boys are back in Town" starts playing.... A Cobalt SS races down a street and blows by a Honda Civic. Screen fades black again with music playing. A Malibu Maxx SS blows by a Toyota Camry. Screen fades to black again. A Impala SS blows by a 300C. Screen fades black again. A Monte Carlo SS blows by a Charger. Screen fades black. Then a Trail Blazer SS blows by a Jeep SRT8 Then on the oppisite side of the road have a Silverado SS blo…

Amid all the new Camaro pics, rumors and speculations, I found two old articles from the December 1986 Motor Trend, back when FWD Camaro and Mustang rumors ran rampant. The Ford Probe proved the Mustang rumors wrong and the demise of the horrible GM-80 car and the introduction of the Chevy Beretta let the Camaro live on. You will laugh and cringe and what could have been for our beloved muscle car and see of screwed up GM (and the auto press) was in the 1980s. A 4-wheel drive 1988 IROC-Z? Don't remember that one.

New Chev muscle car a Holden underneath http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthr...?threadid=25280 Demand from American baby boomers for modern muscle cars sent American executives to Australia looking for help. The Camaro was yesterday labelled a "concept car" but the Herald understands it is close to being confirmed for production. "We have Australian engineers working on this project right now," Denny Mooney, the American boss of Holden, told the Herald. With his connections in the US, it is likely the Chevrolet Camaro could be built in North America on the same production line as the next generation Pontiac GTO, which is due in 2008. Given that they share major…

Some lines from the new Motor Trend review: "Running almost on empy, General Motors digs deep with its new full size truck platform and strikes it big." "A first drive smackdown test on the track and in the field reveals that GM brought game" "The technological advances are compelling-but the Tahoe's most critical changes are the interior. It's nothing short of stunning, especially when compared with the previous generation's. Cabin materials are significantly improved, with softer surfaces and tighter gaps and tolerances on all panels, the center stack, and gauges. Even the carpet fasteners have been hidden, giving the floor a bett…

We've gotten 16,500 views on a thread with only semi-official pictures in less than three days. We've gotten over 5,400 views on the Official Concept Thread in less than 14 hours And we've gotten signatures, polls, desktops, and (most importantly) restored faith and hope to get a Camaro on the streets. Coming from a relatively small forum, I sure hope you're keeping tabs, GM. :AH-HA_wink:

Corvette production interrupted due to wheel supply issue AutoWeek | Published 12/28/05, 3:25 pm et General Motors has sent a memo to dealers informing them that Corvette wheel supply has “experienced significant disruption” and production of certain models could be delayed as a result. GM says the wheel supply situation has caused it to make “several adjustments affecting wheel options, production volumes and production schedules.” Dealers will have to change Corvette orders based on wheel availability. Wheel company Amcast, which went into bankruptcy on Dec. 2, supplied the wheels. GM says wheel supply is still uncertain, and thus GM’s order fu…
