I was thinking of getting out my 2.4L Cobalt SS coupe and into a Malibu SS. Nothing wrong with the Cobalt--I just miss low end torque and an auto would be nice sometimes. Plus now that I have a kid--4drs would work better. I have always liked the SS Malibu--its sqaure, angular lines and SS exterior treatment look far more interesting the Accords, Camrys ect. I like this short wheelbase epsilon...much neater, tider dimesnions then it's long wheelbase brethren (G6, Aura) And I still do but after test driving the car it has too many faults for me. Namely the powertrain and a couple of very minor sqeaks/ratles that my Coblat does not have. The 3900 provided very str…

Corvette considering new sports car. The Stingray. This is a long-time coming....I have always thought this was the way to go. Corvette is a powerful brand. To be based on the Kappa platform. It is rumored to have a new V6 and may even use the I-4 from the Solstice GXP.

Just saw our friend and #1 Camaro supporter Scott S is back on line and feeling fine after a tune up. [just had some heart work done and glad to have you back!] Anyway they were speculating on what Camaro may show up at the NAIAS on Z28.com. One post stated that they expected a coupe to be there only to be followed by a mention by Scott of "No Coupe". They also had mentioned a Convertible to which nothing was said or replied to. Silence at time can be our best clue from the Fbodfather and it may prove to watch and see if GM anounces if a Topless Camaro may appear this year. If it does it will be interesting to see if a more production like car is shown and w…

Inside Line Link Why We Bought It Chevrolet has never really had anything that could challenge the standouts of the economy-car class, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. When Chevrolet finally replaced the aging Cavalier with the 2005 Cobalt, our hopes soared. Now Chevy's import fighter had a more powerful engine, sharper styling and a promise of improved build and materials quality. Naturally, we were curious enough to put one into our long-term fleet. We spec'd out a loaded 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT sedan. With leather seats, a moonroof, upgraded audio with XM radio and a rear spoiler, it listed for $20,100. With the employee discount and rebates we got it for $17,82…

Don't know if any of you have picked up the latest issue of Motor Trend with the SUV of the year honors in it, but its kinda funny. They do give props to the Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade, and pretty much rave about the Denali. One line struck me as funny though. At the end of the Suburban review they say "But strong value and superiority ratings couldnt quite counteract what we see as a shrinking market significance for these leviathans." Okie dokie. So who gets the SUV of the year then, if a large SUV's market seems to be diminishing so rapidly? None other than the tiny...Mercedes GL450. Hmm. This thing gets worse gas mileage than a Suburban, will have a much smaller footpr…

For anyone that grew up loving NASCAR for what it was (not what it has become) there was one huge moment in the late eighties when Dale Earnhardt bucked the trend (no one wanted a black car because it attracted too much heat from the sun, but Dale wanted to be the man in black), switched from Wrangler to GM Goodwrench and painted his car black. I had many a shirt/poster/etc with that black MC SS (and had a 1987 MC SS Aero Coupe) and Lumina. That car color combo is legendary. Then in 2001, it all changed. Kevin Harvick took over, changed the car to 29 out of respect that no one could be 3 again (time to "officially" retire that number Mr. France) and the car went to si…

Click Here Honestly their nitpicks are a little annoying such as the Vortec Max naming but overall, they liked the truck. I think the most impressive thing I read besides the hp and torque #'s which we all knew already was that it recorded an interior sound level of 65.2 decibles, more quiet than an Audi A6. Nice job there. The longer braking distance is slightly disappointing but we'll have to wait for other publisher's braking tests to see if the results are consistent. The looks are slowly growing on me more every time I see it, and I hope it does well in Edmunds' long-term fleet.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=117227 Guys, I do not see a balance review here, more like a 60-40 review (40, of course the + ve part). Apparently Mike Schmidt can be considered an import humper. Here are some vagaries. 1. With the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris and a newly redesigned Hyundai Accent already on sale, the entry of the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo into this highly competitive segment seems like old news. And in this case, old news isn't such good news for General Motors. >> Mr. Schmuckidt can you justify that comment? A lame shot in his dark hind hole. 2. But with the Accent, Fit, Versa and Yaris charging uphill with bayonets…

Well I just returned from the GM Canada dealer only autoshow in Toronto, Ontario. We were shown the production Enclave, Acadia, GMT-900 trucks, Equinox SS, Torrent GXP, G6 Coupe GXP, Solstice GXP, NEW 08 CTS, NEW 08 STS and finally the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu The Malibu literally stole the show. Everyones jaws dropped when they unveiled the car. It is simply stunning. Toyota and Honda have some serious competition coming, and thats coming from dealers who also own foreign dealerships. It will be available fall 2007, and we were told to watch for it on this years autoshow circuit. Before anyone asks....We were not allowed to sit in it. The Torrent GXP and the Equin…

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/motoring...olet_ultra.html This part of the article jumped out at me... I tend to think the writer is being a little optimistic here: " With a production version that’s set to look virtually identical to the concept going on sale in 2008, the newcomer is primed to cause a real stir in the compact family hatch market. " What I do see is the evolution of the Chevy grille already - with the upper part of the grille getting a twist inward. You'll see what I mean when you get a look at the Chevy Colorado SEMA concept that is going to emulate this front-end look (still embargoed).

I'll just say what I heard as a rumor: From what I've seen or heard, they're aiming for 0-60 in less than 2.5 seconds. And they've beat it, by a bit. They're aiming for over 200 MPH. And they've done it. (Well, duh.. the Z06 goes like 197 doesn't it?) Something special happens around 140 MPH and around 190 MPH It'll cost around a hundred grand in US dollars (which was pretty much already known) They want to beat the best in the world for less than a quarter of a cost. And, from how it sounds, they will. And that's all I've got to say about that :AH-HA_wink:

Outrageous C6 Corvette to be Shown at SEMA ...[T]he Outrageous C6 lives up to its name by adding a Pro Charger supercharger and Corsa exhaust that kick the car's power output up to 650 hp, as well as 5,600 watts of Sony sound gear, a Le Mans wing and Lambo doors. The overall result is... interesting, and certainly outrageous. We could envision any number of NFL superstars proudly piloting this Vette to the stadium on any given Sunday, and it will surely fit in with the type of cars we expect to encounter at the SEMA show in a couple weeks. Since the '07 Impala had no styling changes whatever from the'06, does anyone know what changes might be in store for the '08 model? Specifically: Any revisions at all to either the front end clip, or the trunk/taillight design? I could see that they might want to change the front end clip a bit, to make it more in synch with the bigger grille on the '08 Malibu. And I really wish they would so SOMETHING with the taillights; they are so non-descript so as to be almost indistinguishable from just about every new sedan (Accord, Five Hundred, Montego, G6. etc., etc.). SO..... Does anyone know what's up next for the '08 Impala???

Rumor Mill: V6 Corvette? Yech... Rumors of a V6-powered Corvette model have been floating around for years but weren't taken very seriously until Motor Trend decided to spend some ink on it a few issues ago and predict the six-cylinder model would revive the "Sting Ray" name. The model would basically be a Chevy-branded version of the Kappa roadster that GM has liberally passed out to such brands as Pontiac (Solstice), Saturn (Sky) and Opel (GT). Chevy's version would be different in that power would come from a V6 rather than an inline-four cylinder, and rumor has it that it would be badged a Corvette. Kind of sounds like a long shot, but Rick "Corvette" Conti, the #1…

I have no idea what colors the '09 Camaro will be offered in (besides the obvious silver, white, black, bright red), but I saw a color this morning that would be perfect--it's a modern yet retro apple green (don't know the Chevy name of the color) that I saw on a late model Avalanche. After Deep Cuts, GM Expects To See Profits on Small Cars By NEAL E. BOUDETTE = September 14, 2006 Link to Original Article @ Wall Street Journal.com DANA POINT, Calif. -- The deep structural cost cuts General Motors Corp. put in place this year should enable the auto maker to finally make money on small cars, the company's vice chairman said. For years, most if not all compact cars made by GM and its Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group have lost money, in large part because of the extra costs they carry to pay for health care and pensions for thousands of retired hourly workers. But GM last year reached an agreement with the Unite…

Chevrolet has been FWD only aside from the Corvette for about 5 years. It hasn'y had a mainstream rwd cars for 10 years. I think its about time we had both RWD muscle cars and RWD sedans. However, this hardly means that FWD will be abandoned. Ok, let's see the Line-up for 2009 Aveo on Gamma 1A Cobalt on Delta 1B Malibu on Epsilon 1B Bel Air on Chi 1A Nova on Zeta SWB 1A Impala on Zeta LWB 1A Camaro on Zeta SWB 1A HHR on Delta 1B Equinox on Theta 1B Trailblazer on Lambda 1A Blazer on GMT-400?(next midsize GMT platform) Tahoe/Suburban on GMT-900 Colorado on GMT-400? Silverado on GMT-900 Express on GMT-900 I forget Tell me whatcha think?

Big, bold pinched in headlights and the speed lines on the fenders that originate in the wheel well and shoot back in a gentle arc are two great 1969 styling elements in this chop. I hope the eventual redesign/restyle of the 5th gen. Camaro turns out like this.

Spied: 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS Photos the Chevrolet HHR SS have been out before, but the cobbled together bodies made them look more like research projects than production models. Our latest shots are a little different, however, as they were taken just outside the Nurburgring test track in Germany. Read "FV Report: 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS" @ Edmunds Straightline

Anyone here have a clue to what this is? Is this the long talked about and never seen Chevy 3 valve head? I posted it here as this was on the CamaroZ28.com site and they were all wondering if this may be a glimps of the future Camaro engine. If anything it is GM and a very interesting layout. Some over there were claiming red lines od 6,600 to 7,000. Also it was claimed to have the same low end torque as a LS but it continued where the other stopped. If true this would be a big jump over the Ford 3 valve. All of this is speculation from the Camaro web site and has not been confirmed. So just enjoy till we hear more!

As some of you may know, GM offers a clubsport package for the Solstice as well as some track only accessories to meet SCCA requirements which allow you to take your new Solstice racing at the local road course. My question is, what do you think of GM offering a clubsport package for the new Camaro?

Edmunds Evaluation: 2006 Chevy Malibu SS The real question is whether the 2006 Malibu SS sedan is worthy of wearing those double-S badges. Like SS cars of the past, the 2006 Malibu SS sticks to a proven formula: Start with an affordable, high-volume car, and add mild suspension tweaks, special wheels and tires, a little extra motor (OK, a lot of motor if you're old enough to remember 409 Impalas and 396 Novas) and top the whole thing off with some exterior styling cues to set it apart from the grocery-getters and rental cars. I was flipping throught channels and somehow ended up on CNN. I beleive it was a story about hybrids that was on. I wasn't really paying attention. At the end of the video clip, it showed what I guess was the Chevy Lambda. It looked like a toned down sequel with the Chevy grill. I have no idea why that would have been on there, but it was there. I'm not crazy, though I'm sure I'll get people telling me that I am. Haha. Ill keep watchign to see if the story repeats. Edit: I was originally thinking it was the SUV, but maybe it was the minivan?

TCC Reviews the 2007 Avalanche If I were in the market for a full-sized truck today, the Chevy Avalanche would be a top contender. It is the newest and best-looking truck in the North American market and like the first-generation, is a great fusion of pickup and SUV. So how much better has the original SUT become with the new generation? Read the 2007 Chevy Avalanche review @ The Car Connection

Hello, my name is Gabe, I am 14, and I love CHEVY! My father owned numerous Chevrolet Chevelles, and was a muscle buff, so its no wonder I like the Chevelle! But I am depressed that no such beast made it to the 1978 redesign . But of course It probably would have been a stripped down Monte Carlo,or would it have been the basis for the Monte Carlo?(How Ironic! The Monte was a plusher version of the Chevelle!) In my scenario, the Heavy Chevy would have continued on, and eventually, the Monte Carlo would take the long walk in 1981, and the proposed Monte SS would have become the Chevelle SS! The Chevelle would have gotten its own dedicated platform, the S Body, which is bas…

Chevrolet Automotive News / August 21, 2006 - 6:00 am Aveo: The Aveo will be redesigned for the 2008 model year. Chevrolet Impala LS By Frank Williams July 20th, 2006 If you want to judge a restaurant, don’t order the chef’s specialty. Go for the hamburger or the omelet. If the man in the funny hat prepares these prosaic dishes with the same passion he puts into his Suprème de Turbot Rôti aux Asperges Vertes et à l'Ail en Chemise, you have a winner. The same applies to cars. If you want to judge an automaker’s prowess, check their basic models. Scope the ones with standard engines and base interiors that hide in the back of the lots. A few miles behind the wheel tells you more about the manufacturer’s passion for product than anything their spinmongers could ever publish. …

One of my friends and I went looking at the Colorado crew cab. Not a bad truck but a little pricey I think. He is trading in a 2005 Dodge Magnum, and needs the bed of the truck. He now how ever is looking at the Frontier. I am going to look at the Nissans tomorrow with him and see how it stands up to the rado. If anybody can give me any insight on some comparisons or anything I would appreciate it Thanks. I will also fill in as best I can on my own comparison
