66 K HHRs to 60 K PT Cruisers according to sales figures. GM had better keep the HHR retro! HHR is putting VUE, Equinox and the crossovers to shame when it comes to sales. When the HHR has aged, replace it with a version of the Nomad concept vehicles. There is a market for retro vehicles. Nostalgia. HHR is attractive. GM, make a few modest changes but KEEP THE RETRO LOOk!!

I have some friends I work with that have family at Lordstown and work on the G5 and Cobalts built there. One guy I work with has an uncle who does final checks and runs the new cars on a wheel dyno. Sorry I don't have all the details but from what I have been told he has been training on a new Cobalt Turbo. The only main details I could gleem are that it is much more powerful than the present SS. He also said the engine really was much the same as the Sky and Solstice just in a transvese location. I tried to confirm the 5 speed auto tansaxle but he did not comment. I did see it is set to be on the HHR SS so it should be expected. I would guess this car will s…

I went to Chevy's revitup event in Irvine, CA today and went through quite a few cars... 2008 Malibu LTZ - I couldn't drive it as it was a pre-production model. That meant the trunklid didn't fit properly and some of the interior trim pieces were kinda falling apart. But I took that into consideration and tried to form an overall impression anyway. Styling - I love it... I think it's one of the best-looking family sedans out there. It's very Germanic in appearance, a lot like the VW Phaeton/Bentley Flying Spur, and the details are amazing. The front grille is wonderful, the one-piece chrome window trim is impressive, the hood cutline is interesting, the paint looks lu…

Automaker racing to get first plug-in hybrid on the market by 2010 DETROIT - General Motors already has five hybrid vehicles on the road, but it is banking its future on a radical departure onto the green road: By 2010, the automaker hopes to have a plug-in electric passenger car in customers' driveways. I love delivering the unexpected. And right now, the unexpected is a General Motors vehicle that uses no fuel,” said Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman of product development, who introduced the Chevrolet Volt concept car to enormous attention in January at the North American International Automotive Show in Detroit. For Lutz, who was brought out of retirement six years ag…

Just saw 2 Reliable transport truck loads of Vettes including the 2008. At the IRL/IMSA race at Mid Ohio GM brought in the Indy pace car and some other GM Vettes for th Vette car Corral. The new Vettes interior and wheels make a great improvment over the 07. While the interior is not everything we asked for it is 95% there. As for the race if you in the Ohio area go on Sunday as it will be a great race!

Chevrolet Europe targets booming new Eastern markets Neil Winton: European Perspective Chevrolet Lacetti Link to Original Article @ DetNews KILLARNEY, IRELAND -- General Motors may be having to beg, plead and bribe for every sale in the U.S., but its blue-collar subsidiary Chevrolet is on the crest of a wave in Europe. Chevrolet sales are booming, but the model names won't mean much to Americans, with the tiny Chevrolet Matiz, and other small cars like the Kalos (the Aveo in the U.S.), Lacetti and Tacumas swarming off dealer lots across Europe. The Captiva, Chevrolet's new Sport Utility vehicle launched recently here in south-west Ireland, won't mean a lot to American…

Has anybody here done a thoughtful head to head look between the PT and the HHR? Or has it been discussed in the past somewhere? Also, out of curiousity, what are the key selling points of the HHR Vs. PT? (Maybe CARBIZ could share some of his sales stories if he reads this.) In my mind the largest advantadge to the HHR is that the Ecotech is that much more "Advanced" than the Chryselr mill. Does anybody know if Chrysler plans to discontinue the PT anytime soon? Seems like it is still a cash cow for them. Chris

I currently own a 2003 Avalanche. Prior to my purchase of this truck, I was very anti-SUV. I only purchased the truck out of necessity for the management and maintenance of my apartment business. I picked the Avalanche because it was by far the most versatile truck on the market. Since then, I've grown to love the truck so much I can't imagine not having one. I do have my gripes, but lets talk about the new one. The Good The interior upgrade is phenomenal, but anyone with eyes and working fingers can tell that. Throwing Gears in a 505-hp Z06-Powered Chevy Camaro By Joe Oldham, Contributor Link to Original Article @ Edmunds This 1999 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro is no ordinary used car. It's a freaking street monster; a snarling, mean mother of a street racer that will chew you up and spit you out if you have the temerity to challenge it at a stoplight. It's powered by a GM Performance Parts (GMPP) LS7 crate motor packing 505 (or more) horsepower, the same engine you'll find under the hood of a Z06 Corvette. In fact, GM Performance Parts built this car because it wants the world to know that the all-aluminum small-block V8 is for sale at any GM dealer's parts counter (or even online)…

Jeff Mann's '57 Chevy runs a blown Hemi under its hood, and lots of unexpected details We've entered the era of the Stepford Chevys. Once upon a time, 1957 Chevys were nasty street racers driven by the socially maladjusted and feared by the decent citizenry. But those days are long gone. Today '57 Chevys are driven to the nostalgia diner by grandfathers in "Foose Design" T-shirts. You've seen the guy's ride. It's the monochrome red 1957 Chevy Bel Air with the 502 big-block crate engine parked next to five others just like it over by the D.A.R.E. car. Behind the Wheel of the Bumblebee 2009 Camaro We knew what we had to do. Get the first photo ever of a 2009 Camaro doing a burnout — or at least a car that's a dead ringer for the 2009 Camaro doing a burnout. So there we were last July near the set of Transformers, cruising along the roads surrounding an old aircraft hangar in Playa Vista, California. We were driving "Bumblebee," the Camaro that's the star of this summer's sure-to-be-blockbuster, looking for the perfect place to blaze the hides off its rear tires. It's amazing that we even got permission. "A burnout?" one Paramount Pictures publicity person asked us. "What's that?" Driving a Transformer After lot…

We rented an '07 Cobalt Coupe in Denver last weekend. Overall, it was a solid little car, and even after lots of flogging up and down mountainous roads, we averaged over 30 mpg...EXCELLENT! If there were any detractors, it would be the hard interior plastics and the wheezy-whiny mechanical noises from the engine. Of course, we're accustomed to driving cars in a different class - in our garage is a new Subaru Legacy and new Honda Civic. Also, for comparison notes, I recently rented an '07 PT Cruiser (handled almost a good as my Civic!!) and an '07 Jetta (supple, fast, but with weird engine noises). My final take: the Cobalt is an attractive, easy driver.

My mother once rented one, and backed it into who knows what, and the corner of the rear bumper dimpled in completely. Absolute concave. This is a thing I'm used to seeing on about 40% of 97-01 Camrys. It makes your car look and feel really cheap and tinny. What would prompt a carmaker to not fill in the entire bumper end to end to fix the problem? I saw a lesser model yesterday with the similar problem, and I fear the upcoming day my parents' brand new LTZ suffers that silliness.

Link to Autoblog Perhaps Chevrolet should see if Ford is done with the "Bold Moves" slogan yet, because some Chevy dealers have grown a pair and are trying a radical move. They're bringing enemy No. 1 right into their showrooms. Chevrolet is confident enough in its forthcoming Malibu redesign, that they're willing to have customers paw all over their mid-size offering and Toyota's Camry side by side. Instead of just telling potential Malibu customers that Camry ain't all that, Chevy's car marketing director, Cheryl Catton, suggests dealers put one of the best-selling Toyotas right there next to Malibus. Production of the new Malibus begins in October, and GM's ad push f…

I would ask this in the Camaro thread but I had visions of being crucified upside down, naked on my front lawn with a yellow Caddy or a 59 Buick quietly driving away behind me. I really don't care if it has a B-pillar. The 69 Mach 1, (MY opinion best looking Muscle car along with 70 Boss 302) did not have roll down rear windows and as such kind of had a permanant B-pillar. Also, my 66 Mustang was a fastback which when you think about it kind of makes it a HUGE B pillar (or Huge C-pillar if you prefer.) I do care about... When is this car coming out? Do we know? It was just anounced that Roush for the first time will start to offer some aftermarket parts like tuners for GM truck. Can we see this as a look into the future? I posted a statment from someone a while ago from GM that There was a chance of a Roush Camaro. Either way We sell Roush products at work and they have some real quality items, not inexpensive but great quality. I see Roush products only being a big plus for Chevy and GM owners and I hope this leads to bigger and better things. Roush has always done a lot of work for GM but kept it quite. In the last year that has changed and we are seeing his company doing this for GM and not hiding it like the GX…

With all the recent "uproar" over the Challenger B pillar....there is something you should all start warming up to... There is a pretty good chance the Camaro is going to have one too. Cost? Structural rigidity? Side impact? Yea.

Almost forgot about this model, until just browsing some Chevy dealer inventory and saw a few of them: http://www.countrychevrolet.com/Chevy/70248_1.html http://www.countrychevrolet.com/Chevy/77741_1.html Interesting, and could be a fun cargo van alternative for people who want something small.

Is this an old alternative Camaro design, or something else??? There is definitely a large split grill, and the overall shape looks like a Camaro, but it's interesting none the less...

A Focus group is being formed and they will meet in May. 12 people were picked from a enthusiast web site and will help with feedback on option packages and other items on the new car. They will also be taken to the Milford proving grounds so this shows we have some Camaro's prototypes in country so our Detroit phone photog's might want to keep an eye out for any odd cars what could be a rebodied Camaro. I have someone I know that is one of the 12 and is a great informed Camaro fan. So this group is not a lot of people that really have no clue so you can rest easy that the fee back will be from pople that really car and understand. It would have been fun to have …

Making my daily rounds to every GM site I noticed that Chevy has something new and well pretty cool if you ask me called Chevy Nation. It is a computer generated town with new and old Chevy's cruising around like '64 Impala's to a new HHR. The cool part is you can into a chop-shop and view videos and do other interactive stuff in 2 other areas currently with a few more on the way. Listen to songs with Chevy in them, look at lyrics and download posters and much more. I spent a good hour exploring the first part of that is launched and was so impressed. Please guys take and a look and leave your comments... Here is the link! Chevy Nation Most importantly enjoy!

New spy photos show a heavily camouflaged Holden Ute breaking cover down under. The car shows many of the tell tale signs of being based off of the new Zeta platform, including a similar proportions to the aforementioned Holden Commodore and large wheel arches. The overhauled Ute will come in time for Holden to boost its position against import 4×4 SUV's which are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. A new El Camino? Recently, there has been a great deal of speculation about the new Ute coming to America badged as a Chevrolet El Camino. Holden sources recently told Australia's CarPoint the lure of "substantial" export orders for "the Americas" have accelerate…

GM @ NYIAS 2008 Chevrolet HHR Panel Wraps NEW YORK – What better way to illustrate the uses for the new Chevrolet HHR Panel than with the vehicles themselves? Chevy is doing exactly that at the New York Auto Show with two eye-popping wraps – one for business, the other for pleasure. A delivery vehicle that looks like a bouquet on wheels shows how the HHR Panel can deliver the goods without draining the gas tank. A personal-use Panel, “Skull From Hell,” was designed by student Jim McCammon of Detroit ’s Center for Creative Studies. A creative alliance between Chevrolet and Detroit's College for Creative Studies gave CCS students real-life experience in the competitiv…

GM's estimate for the 1500 equipped with the new Vortec 6.0 liter and four speed transmission is 15/19. There are no estimates listed for the 2500HD with the six speed transmission. GM boast that the six speed will increase gas mileage, but the only way to purchase a six speed at this time is to buy the 2500HD. The extended cab 2500HD weighs approximately 900 lbs more than the 1500 extended cab. Was wondering what kind of mileage to expect from the HD. Anyone driving a HD2500 yet?

I got my hands on the May Hot Rod from my advertising department at work and noted they covered some of what we already know on the Blue Devil and 650 HP. Well they had a short piece on the Camaro engine line up. Here is what was stated word for word. Hot Rod May 2007 page 39 "However GM insiders have blabbed to Hot Rod the range of potential engines for GMs new Ponycar. There will be two V6 choices and at least three V8s, Including a 550 HP version of the supercharged 6.2L V-8 for the High content Z28 model. Scorces indicate there will be two base V8s, one stick and one Automatic, both of them over 400 HP." This fits along with much of what we have been hearing. I th…

I would just like some honest opinions on the new HD's. To me it seems like GM dropped the ball with these trucks. The half tons get a new frame and well everything, while the hd's keep the same frame with maybe a few mods. I know there are a lot of people out there that would like to see a straight axle on the front, I'm one of them. I know IFS rides better and is "strong" but its just not the same. It seems like every construction company or what ever where trucks get used hard all use ford or dodge. I believe the front end is a big player in that. Why would they keep it relativly unchanged? Now with ford and dodge getting new diesels it seems GM will have a har…

Howdy, folks. Let's not pretend that I'm a dedicated "member" here or anything. I just want to get the word out on a sweepstakes that Stylin' Concepts is running to win a Chevy Colorado. I know you guys don't like promotion, but some of these forums are such tightly knit groups(yourselves included) that it's hard to get the word out on something like this. Just take a minute out of your busy life and win a free truck..

I keep seeing the new Jetta around. As much as I would not own one, it is much improved. That being said, I cannot help but notice too much Jetta in the new Malibu: overall side profile, greenhouse and door shapes, and trunk height and contours. It really jumps out at me. I think the Malibu will be a hit and I hope so. However, GM needs to stop siphoning some overall design themes (Malibu from Jetta and Enclave from Lexus). That's my humble opinion, anyway. Obviously, I voted yes.
