We just acquired a 2005 BMW 325xi sedan with the purposes of turning it into a show car. We intend to feature all of the interior and exterior accessories we carry on it and we will be posting before, during and after photos of the entire makeover. We will also be making videos of each and posting them to our YouTube channel and our site. The project is expected to take between 6 months to a year to complete but so far the we have planned the following modifications and upgrades: - A complete Duraflex body kit (Retails for $1135.87): http://www.rvinyl.com/2005-BMW-325xi-Body-Kits/!/ED-106516.html -Compete vehicle wrap: We haven't decided between Matte Black or …

It may have taken five years, but I was finally able to talk my dad into getting one in 2013. It's an SEL with package 201A, which means leather, sunroof and heated seats. Name: Ford Mustang Mach 1 (2003) Date Added: 22 May 2015 - 02:30 PM Owner: ccap41 Short Description: I no longer own her but I had some pictures and I know I'll talk about it so I might as well have her good looks accessible! I bought her with only 43,000 miles on the clock for 12,500. Only thing done was SLP catted Xpipe and SLP Loudmouth 1 catback. I absolutely love how the 4.6 sounds.. m favorite sounding vehicle..possibly ever. I'm not a fan of the SLP but I didn't see it worth the money to change it all out for essentially the same performance. I only had her for a year before I realized I can't drive it in the snow, at all. I felt terrible borrowing my pa…

Name: Ford Focus (2008) Date Added: 22 May 2015 - 02:02 PM Owner: SalesmanSean Short Description: Wife's car, very basic (manual windows, locks, no cruise), I kind of hate it, but it's hers, she paid cash for it, and she loves it. Not sure how much she paid for it, and I do all the driving for the family, thus the way low miles. I'm making an assumption on the HP/Torque. When looking it up I see two sets of numbers listed for each, with one as standard one as optional. There isn't a different engine option, so I'm guessing that it is related to the transmission. Since hers has the auto which is optional I'm making an educated guess that that is the one that get…

Name: Honda Civic (2009) Date Added: 22 May 2015 - 01:45 PM Owner: SalesmanSean Short Description: Bought new in Texas, traded in a '98 Ford Contour for it. It isn't flashy or exciting, but it was what I could afford, and I make it as enjoyable as I can. No real complaints other than maybe I should have gotten a different interior color, I'm not a fan of beige. In the cost spot I put the whole amount financed, not sure what the base price was, but I think the rate was like 2.9% or something like that. I'll see about getting a picture sometime later, maybe. She is a Titanium with all the goodies except navigation. It still had the premium Sony sound system. Has the Pano sunroof, cool but unessesary if you ask me. It isn't fast by any means but the 2.0t keeps me entertained for the time being. I don't plan to stick much money into it as it isn't much of a toy but cars are one of my passions so there are always things to do. So far I've tinted the windows 20% all the way around, got rid of the hideous amber colored parking lights with white LEDs, also replaced the OEM fog light …

Thought, I would start a thread on my husband and my 1957, Series 62 Cadillac. His deceased dad gave it to us, it was originally one of the cars from his uncles collection. We, been working on it in his buddy's garage. We just began the process of kicking around the idea of selling the car. We really need to make room at our place, if we decide to keep it. I know some might say, keep the Caddy for sentimental reasons, but really, his dad was all for selling the car. He just would not be pleased, if we accepted a low ball offer. So far, got a lot of "interest" and turned down a lot of offers. Now, I want to make clear, I am not using this forum to try and sell the …

I'll be converting the 1985 Ford Econoline with 115,000 original miles into the nicest tour van that I can manage. The van was purchased on a budget and it will be doing three rounds of the United States over the course of the next two years. The modifications we're talking are mostly going to be to the interior, some electronics, etc. I'll be tossing in all Kenwood speakers, a new CD player with an AUX jack, a loft bunk with gear storage underneath, I'll be pulling out the bench seat in the back, installing a 1600w AC power inverter straight off the front battery. Should be a pretty great steed when all is said and done. I'll keep you all updated on it!

Ah, those luscious locks of the American redneck just sprouted from my scalp like never before! I have just purchased the poster child for all things 'Murica, the Pontiac Firebird. It will gradually replace the Avalon as I look to sell that car. But you're probably not interested in that. The details: 1998, 3800 V6, 5-speed, T-Tops, and just under 124k. No rust, a few scratches here and there, a small dent from the previous owner's kid, and originally a whole lot of muck. After a full detail, it shines up fairly well and looks fairly good for its age.

Still working for and loving Acura in the Philly area, and driving my 2nd or 3rd new TSX demo. Great car. Never something I had considered before, but just the right mix of size, power, refinement, fun and economy. Tech is the best in the biz, too. I don't need a second car of my own, but I WANT one, and if the dollars work, why not. Never hurts to own your own car. Went on vacation in Florida & Georgia mid September, and for a week had a brand new 2012 SRX Performance and was intrigued by GM again. My friend and I loved it and wanted to buy one. I started looking at lease deals, and then cars too, and narrowed down to the SRX, Lacrosse Touring and Regal. SRX awesom…

Well after seven winters in New England, the salt has taken its toll on the Prizm. Like nearly every other Prizm/Corolla up here the rear rocker panels and wheel wells have begun to rot out. Driver's side wheel well had developed a hole, passenger was bubbling, and the doglegs were both rotted . I've been putting off for a year or so, but it finally got to the point where it needed to be done before it got worse. Fortunately the rot is pretty superficial and the inner parts weren't rotted. I see a lot of people patching holes with everything from expanding foam and bondo to duct tape, but screw that noise. I brought it done to a good shop I know and had it fixed the ri…

So as I'm sure many of you know, the Prizm's had a pretty hard life. Kansas heat, Massachusetts winters, being totaled by a moving truck, being hit by a stolen car, and now with over 200,000 miles on it. With all this added to the fact that the car is 16 years old, the paint has seen better days. The roof in particular has become very faded and oxidized. The trunk and rear bumper are as bad, but those are also from another car. Since the spare driver's door for my Intrepid cleaned ups o well with the rubbing compound and waxes I had lying around, I decided to see how they'd work on the Prizm, and hopefully bring some life back into its paint. Because the paint is in rou…

*bites nails* I left work early today, because I had a dentist's appointment for a checkup and cleaning. On the way home, I pass by a Chevy dealer, and they had a blue '15 2500 HD out front, a regular cab LT with Duramax and the 18" rims. I pulled in to look at it, since I had time. About an hour and twenty minutes later... I walked out with a new truck. They said with my good credit score, I would be a fool not to. Pics when I can!

Quick summary: I need to factory (or equivalent) replacement springs for a 1965 Impala SS Convertible 283 Long detailed story: About 2 years ago I had ordered parts for my 65 Impala from some website (i think it was impalaparts.com but not 100% sure) and I had a local shop install these parts (shocks, springs, & almost a whole suspension kit). The work was done in Late November so I was getting ready to put it away for the winter. When the work was finished I noticed that the front was up pretty high and the shop explained to me that after putting some miles on them it will drop to a proper height. Myself not being mechanically sound, I believed it. Fast forward a y…

Here is my car, it has premium 2 package, AMG sort package, panoramic roof, designo black metallic paint and the sand color Nappa leather. I got rear wheel drive since rear drive handles better and all wheel drive E-classes prior to 2010 had the 5-speed automatic. This car is actually good in snow too, I got Blizzak tires, but I drove it every day it snowed this winter with no problems.

Hey guys, I figured you might like to see this. Two weekends ago, my girlfriend convinced me to start looking for a new car. I was driving a 2004 Focus that had cost me $3600 in fixes last year, and I was being too stubborn to look for a new car since I'm very dedicated on knocking down my student loans. Eventually I realized she was right and that I should get something relatively new so I don't have to be friends with the mechanics shop anymore. My main requirements were: manual transmission, 2008+ MY, <40,000 miles, relatively good fuel economy, and relatively good acceleration. So my initial list was: Sonic LTZ or RS MazdaSpeed 3 Fiesta ST Cooper S VW GTI A3 / A…

Dad has had this for a while now, but I don't think I ever posted pictures. In the past, he owned a '68 Coronet, followed by a '69, and then finally a '70 he restored when I was younger...we loved that thing. Sold before moving to DE. Found this latest project on Craigslist in western PA the summer of '09. Apparently a more valuable combo of sorts, a '68 Coronet 440 with the big block 383. Was a good deal to him. Been a back yard project ever since. Lots of rust. Runs well. Replacing panel by panel, including things like the full trunk floor, etc. He and my brother hit Carlisle this past weekend and came back with new fenders, etc. from western states. Interior is also…

Well, due to trying to free up more income to look for a nice house I traded my 2011 Silverado 6.2L on Saturday for this 2014 Cruze: Only picture I have right now. My Wife has a 2012 RS just like this only in white with a sunroof. I opted for the technology package with the Chevy Mylink & back up camera instead of the All Star Package. It was $19,835 with the 2K rebate. My Wife's has a little over 50,000 miles on it, and it is a great car! This is the third brand new GM I have owned, and the 7th GM vehicle I've owned since I was 17.

Well after lots of looking around I finally got myself a new car, and what a beauty she is! She has 173k miles on her, which is a little on the high side, but she's been well taken care of. We saw the car posted on Auto Trader through edmunds, and found the auction was nearby. We went there last Wednesday and looks at a lot of cars and drove quite a few. At the end of the day, this one really stood out. Paint job is very good, headlights are crystal clear, the engine runs smooth with no knocking or chirping, the tranny shifts beautifully, and the interior is like new. Carfax showed it to be in the clear, as well. I paid $2,100 for it. I took it to the mechanic to have …

While I'm at it, I should update you guys on what Josh drives. Having done the switch between his Civic, Tiburon, and Outlook, he decided he didn't really need the extra space of a massive Lambda. Back in March, he traded it in for his first new car, one that is decidedly smaller. As you can see, he bought a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic LT. He decided to buy one with the 1.8L and 5spd manual. Options include the 16" wheels and fog light package, as well as the Mylink premium audio system. After 10k miles, he's pretty happy with it, though not as happy as he could be. He's had to have it in to the dealership 3 times for warranty work thus far. First two times for a faulty c…

View Vehicle __ *I'll have better images when (if) I manage to crank out a review in the fall.* This bike is amazing. It's powered by a liquid-cooled V-Twin by Rotax built specifically for Buell. The 'pods' at the side serve to route air to the radiator. The powerband is smooth and controlled, unlike some inline-4 bikes that are peaky and require revving to ~11K rpm to move. Riding this is an adjustment from the Blast. The seating position is more forward, although I can sit quite u…

No, not for me. Dad has ANOTHER. Given that he sold the '93 Fleetwood to my younger brother, who still lives with them, dad is up to 4 cars himself. Both the '96 and '00 Subaru's and the '68 Coronet project. The Subaru's are both questionable now with overheating and tempormental issues, the '96 of which he spent a nice amount on at an "import mechanic" to do head gaskets and it was never right again after, still issues. That one is for sale, and the also tempormental 2000 remains. So he bought a 4th. Why not. Just keep adding. Found a '94 S-10 with the 2.2L and automatic, bed cover and all. Clean history and extremely well kept. I don't know much about the 2.2L but he …

1998 Suburban LS K1500 (K = 4WD) Very nice shape -power windows -power locks -roof rack -3rd row seat -5.7L V8 (gasoline) -"barn door" rear doors I was surprised when I started looking at Suburbans at just how comfortable both seats of rear seats are. I could see myself being comfortable in any seating position for a long trip. We bought it because we recently moved to Idaho, and our Saturn coupes just aren't made to get along with hard packed dirt mountain roads. So, we have our Saturns for good fuel economy daily drivers, and the Suburban for hauling people (friends here, or friends & family that come to visit) and for rough-roading adventures. Plus we …

Hello Fellow Cheers and Gears members. So since I became unemployed, while I search for a new job I started to clean up to office of the few piles I had and came across the following: http://www.thedieselpage.com/duramaxconversions.htm I had purchesed my conversion book about 3 or 4 years ago as I was planning to convert my clean 1994 C1500 suburban to diesel. I still dream of having it that way but recently had a interesting idea I wanted to float out to the fellow Gear heads here and get some solid feedback. So here goes the questions / thought and I look forward to your responses. I found a 2004 crewcab 4x4 GMC Duramax with 135,000 miles for 10K. If I was to buy…

As mentioned in the other thread, I swapped my mother's 2011 Terrain SLT-1 AWD with the 3.0L for another brand new 2013 Terrain SLT-1 AWD with the 3.6L exactly 2 years and 30k miles to the day the first one was delivered. No issues with the 2011 and great mileage for the most part, little to no wear either. Still drum solid and tight after all the miles, and the 3.0L continued to be buttery smooth. Really her only complaints stemmed from a lack of HVAC in the rear and abnormal amounts of road noise that started to build with age, throughout the cabin on highway trips. By 30k, other than some dirt, the Michelin tires still looked barely touched and it was about due for th…

Well, not so much a full-blown project as it is more like "getting ready to sell" project My step-son Antonio purchased a 1998 Buick Regal LS Sedan in September of 2011, his first car, with cash he saved from working a part-time job. He did this practically with just six or seven months of saving up! He worked the drive-thru of our local Boston Market and watched each car as it came through. He saw a maroon colored W-body Buick Regal one day and told me he really liked how the car looked. Our search brought us to my selling Buick-GMC dealership that had the '98 advertised for the Labor Day weekend sale. Fast forward to this week. Antonio graduated from high school…

Surprise. Family vehicle change again. I'm no longer around to see them happen, except for my own, but a picture texted today said it all. Mom. Camaro. Loved it. 14 months old with 11900 miles. Couldn't drive in snow, worried her, freaked out multiple times, but loved it and drove like a banshee. Ever since I told her "drive it hard", she would, carefully. Weekly was freaking out about going to the store and not having space, going to work in snow and having to borrow the Subie, going anywhere with dogs and taking Subie, etc. Really, a workable situation, but apparently it pained her to let it sit those times. Really, the space/functionality issue got to her, even if it …

I just signed up and introduced myself in the new members section, so I thought I would introduce my car as well. I purchased it in August of 2009 with 12,200 miles and today it has 55,350. I put a lot of miles on it traveling to college and back home to see my grandma the last two years (a 150 mile round trip). I've added a few modifications to it but have kept it largely stock since it is my only car and has been since I have owned it. Before the Mazda, I only had GM vehicles. I was intrigued by the sporty appeal and ease of ownership that a Mazda could offer me. And I got a sweet deal on this one as well. Despite the protests of my GM-loving family, I took the plunge …

As you guys know, I purchased my red '98 Tahoe 2-door Z71 to replace the ROPOS plow truck and my green '95 Tahoe 2-door. Green isn't on the market yet, but the ROPOS is gone so I am starting to optimize Mr. Red. Just doing damage control mostly at this point since all sorts of little problems have cropped-up since the purchase. But, there are other plans in the works. Today I replaced the auto 4WD dash switch (known for going bad) which quit on me after plowing here for the first time the other day. I also ordered a new window/door lock switch to replace the current one which fails intermittently (and locked me out of the vehicle capping a really bad day not long afte…

Project: 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado This is my project thread for restoring my 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado as close to factory as possible. NOS part found on E-bay for $20 Replace the front shocks. Replace the catalytic converter and rebuild the smog equipment Replace the tires. Replace fron…

"My world is changing" __ Faith Hill __ 'Where Are You Christmas?' If it wasn't completely official yet, it became so 12/12/2012, when I put the license plates on it: WELCOME to the family, 1989 Caprice Classic Brougham! The same day, I put the keys for both of my Caprice Classics on the "'Caprice' w/CC emblem" key rings that a friend sent me. Now, I just need to give my 1989 Caprice Classic its 1st detail.... As I put on the plates, I was excited but still had a twinge of sadness, which probably will never completely go away. This 1989 Caprice Classic just sort of fell into my lap. A friend & I went to look at it, figuring it would be nothi…

So the Grand Marquis' transmission has started being temperamental about whether or not it wants to go into 1st gear. As it so happens my neighbor has a regular customer who has several Crown Vics, including a `93 Interceptor he was planning to scrap. It sat for 10 years and the engine seized, but its only got 83k and the transmission is good. So he bought it off the guy for scrap value, took out the transmission and fuel sender, and told me to have at it and take whatever else I wanted, then it would be loaded full of scrap and sent on its way. We briefly contemplated putting the GM's engine in it, but it really isn't in any better shape, and a car sitting for 10 years…

As most of you know, I'm preparing to put my '95 two-door Tahoe up for sale. I've been steadily knocking little nitpicky things about it off of my list. Today I ordered some clips to properly re-mount the door panels I've had off, and also priced out the parts to make the door hinges right again. I've already rebuilt the top end of the engine, replace the radiator, the front calipers, the power steering pump, and lots of other stuff. In addition, I located and installed new GM front seats, and a stock stereo system that had been on a shelf since nearly new. The exhaust system is new from front to back (including the Cat, O2 sensor, and exhaust manifold gaskets. I've…

It's true, I haven't been around lately. There's been a lot of activity on the topic of motorized vehicles in my household. The one I deal with the most has already been revealed, though without a lot of detail. So here, I will add a few more pictures, as well as write on the additional changes that have occured lately. First, as was explained in my re-indroduction page, I parted ways with my Subaru. I loved that car more than anything, but it wasn't logical for me in my current situation. It was thirsty, stiffly sprung, wasn't as reliable as I had hoped. Great driver's car, it was, with a superb engine and drivetrain that I was miss. Some day, when I'm more financially …

Had to make a hard stop on the highway @ a light this morning, and blew out a brake line. I drove it back home (about 4 miles); I've had more than one experience piloting brake-compromised vehicles home. Seems like a simple enough repair; drop the fuel tank, the line goes from whatever the mid-cab distribution block back to the axle- maybe 7-ft (I didn't measure it).... but as a matter of course, I should just replace them all. Twin lines running forward are looking crusty, too. For the F of it, I called the dealer. It's less than 2 miles from me, and I'm on a first-name basis with the service guy via regular service on the Malibu. He told me he replaced all the lines on…

As seen in my other "Miles? Yes." thread here: http://www.cheersand...9201-miles-yes/ I finally got around to snapping better shots of my 200k (not yet...going to be a momentous time) 1996 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, I bought a few weeks back. The red really looks great in photos. Has a few scuffs and dings that don't show up until in person, and a typical rust bubble above the one rear wheel I wish wasn't there. Tires are brand new Michelins. Wheels nice but also could be nicer if the clearcoat wasn't clouded so much. Maintained extremely well, and rides beautifully. Vroom vroom. $2100. Still needs to be registered and inspected in DE. Outside cleaned up a little more, ante…
