The new mid-engine Ferrari. I love this lineage of Ferrraris! And this one is no exception. (Minus some models in different eras here and there) V12 mid-engine and front engine Ferraris also rule!

Ferrari held their annual Capital Markets Day where the company provided details about their plans through 2022. CEO Louis Camilleri revealed a roadmap that is similar to what former CEO Sergio Marchionne presented previously. 15 new models are expected to launch by 2022 and that will include a new SUV called Purosangue. However, Camilleri has pushed back the launch from 2020 to 2022 to "get it perfect." There will also be a new mid-engine model that may serve as Ferrari's performance flagship as it is said to be quicker than the La Ferrari. Ferrari is also expanding its hybrid offerings, planning to offer 60 percent of its total production with a hybrid engine …

Back in July, we reported that Ferrari was planning an SUV. This was a bit of a surprise since Ferrari Chairman and FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne said "you have to shoot me first,” when asked about this last year. He would confirm that the brand is considering this a month later. It seems now Ferrari is now beyond the consideration stage. Today at the New York Stock Exchange, Marchionne said the automaker is deciding on production which will take about 30 months to complete. Production would be limited to preserve exclusivity. “We’re dead serious about this. We need to learn how to master this whole new relationship between exclusivity and scarcity of product, then …

It was about a month ago that we reported on the rumor of Ferrari working on an SUV, a complete 180 from Ferrari Chairman (and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO) Sergio Marchionne's “you have to shoot me first” answer when asked about this last year. That rumor has been revealed to be true. During a conference call reporting second-quarter earnings, Marchionne confirmed that the Italian sports car builder is considering an expansion into utility vehicles and possibly reinvent the segment. "It will probably happen but it will happen in Ferrari’s style,” said Marchionne. "That space is too big and too inviting and we have a lot of our customers who will be more t…

“You have to shoot me first.” That was the response of Ferrari Chairman (and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO) Sergio Marchionne last year when asked if Ferrari would ever do an SUV. But it seems Ferrari is working on one according to a report from Car. The model - codenamed F16X is expected to be paired up with the replacement for the GT4C, due out in 2020. That means it will feature aluminum architecture and all-wheel drive. F16X will set itself apart from the GT4C by having a higher ride height, feature a four-door coupe body with rear suicide doors, and utilize V8 and hybrid powertrains. According to sources at the company, the F16X will cost 300,000 euros…

Ferrari has been able to be exempt from certain regulations concerning emissions and fuel economy since they sell less than 10,000 vehicles per year. But the Italian sports car builder is getting close to that amount as they have commited to ship 8,000 vehicles this year and raise that to 9,000 by 2019. What do you do in this case? Begin to add hybrid bits to your vehicles. Reuters reports that Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne announced during a conference call with investors that all of their vehicles sold from 2019 will have some sort of hybrid tech. This would allow Ferrari to grow and sell more vehicles. "Although I neither commit to this nor do I give any sor…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 21, 2013 Ferrari's Chairman, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has been one the biggest critics of electric vehicles. So it comes a no surprise that Montezemolo has said the Ferrari will be doing more hybrid vehicles. “I don’t believe in the electric cars, but I strongly believe in hybrids,” di Montezemolo said in a interview. di Montezemolo explained that the brand sees hybrid technology as a way to not only improve performance but to expand the brand’s reach. He quickly added that Ferrari would not expanding their lineup or number of vehicles built. Instead the company will be reducing the amount vehicles built. So…

No sports cars in the world have quite the allure of the 39 Ferrari 250 GTOs built between 1962 and 1964, and their power, beauty and racing history have made them the most expensive collector vehicles on Earth. To their credit, many 250 GTO owners regularly drive them in public -- and last week, the one pictured above worth about $30 million was hit in what ranks as the world's most expensive car crash. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 27, 2012 Ferrari's replacement for the Enzo supercar will be the prancing horse's first hybrid. "We are entering the market with our Formula One-derived hybrid system, which will slash fuel consumption and increase performance," said Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa. The hybrid system, called HY-KERS, improves fuel consumption by 40% while slashing the time it takes to accelerate from 0 to 124 MPH by 3 seconds compared with a Ferrari model without the system in testing. Ferrari says the system will add about 265 pounds to a car. To help offset the addition, Ferrari will cut more weight out and use more carbon fiber. …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 29, 2012 Ferrari has unveiled their most powerful vehicle, the F12 Berlinetta before its official showing at next week's Geneva Motor Show. Succeeding the current 599, the F12 Berlinetta comes with a brand new 6.3L V-12 engine, producing 740 HP and 509 lb-ft of torque. That gives the F12 Berlinetta figures of 0-60 MPH in 3.1 seconds, a top speed of 211 MPH, and a lap time of 1:23 around the Fiorano circuit. Despite the massive performance increase, Ferrari says the new 6.3L V12 engine will be 30% more fuel efficient than the outgoing 6.0-liter V12 in the 599. Feds off of the hook in Ferrari wreck... http://news.yahoo.com/feds-off-hook-wreck-ferrari-fbi-agent-221000918.html DETROIT (AP) — A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the U.S. government over the wreck of a $750,000 Ferrari driven by an FBI agent, saying federal law grants immunity if property is being held by law enforcement. The wreck of the rare 1995 F50 sports car was "certainly unfortunate," but the government cannot be sued in such a case, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn said. Motors Insurance, based in Southfield, Mich., believes an FBI agent and a prosecutor were out for a joyride when the agent lost control of the Ferrari in a Lexington, Ky., industrial pa…

First Official Photos of the 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider August 19th 2011 - Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com While there have been a few illustrations floating around out there, the first official photos of the 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider showed up in our inbox today. Set to debut in September's Frankfurt Auto Show, the 458 Spider will share the same mechanicals as its coupe counterpart packing the same 570 horsepower and 400 lb-ft 4.5 liter V8. The retractable hard top and extra chassis strengthening will add weight and likely lower the overall performance compared to its coupe sibling. European deliveries begin in September 2011 with U.S. deliveries starting in early 2012…

This may also get buried somewhere in the back as most of my threads did, but I decided to post it anyway. I have already posted this on my site yesterday, but I thought I would share it here as well. Here is an interesting article I found from the net. Now, it seems Ferrari wants to introduce and jump into the SUV segment. Here is the article that you can read in entirely. http://sportscarsfans.blogspot.com/2007/11/ferrari-suv.html

Spied: Ferrari 612 Facelift w/4WD Ferrari is preparing a facelift for the 612 Scaglietti, which has been on the market since October 2003. The new car will probably adapt the more aggressive look from the 599 GTB Fiorano. On these pictures, taken outside of Maranello, we can already see the bigger air intakes in the front. With the facelift of the 612 Scaglietti there will also be a four wheel drive option, which is being tested on this prototype. The test equipment on the front wheels is needed to measure the degree of front wheel slip in order to properly calibrate the computer controlling system how much power is being transferred. http://edition.cnn.com/2006/LAW/11/07/ferr...h.ap/index.html LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A Swedish video game entrepreneur who wrecked a rare Ferrari by smashing it into a Malibu power pole at 162 mph was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday after he pleaded no contest to embezzling two other fancy cars and illegally possessing a gun. Bo Stefan M. Eriksson, 44, entered the pleas four days after a jury deadlocked in his trial, closing a case that gained international notoriety after the spectacular Pacific Coast Highway crash. Eriksson entered the pleas to two felony charges of embezzlement with the special allegation that the fraud exceeded $500,000. He als…

Spied: Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale The standard F430 delivers 490 bhp and the Stradale is believed to have at least 520 horsepower and about 220 lbs less weight. The biggest visible change are the exhaust pipes that got moved up a bit, producing an impressive soundtrack. The microphone that is visible at the exhaust pipes in the photos is there to help Ferrari make it as loud as legal. Read "Ready for launch: Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale spied" @ Leftlane News

Brillante Berlinetta Ferrari's 599 GTB is the latest in the line of red cars. It's the V12-GT replacement for the 575 Maranello and questionable (in my opinion) styling aside, this car lokks to be a performance scream. After the Edmunds writers tested the car and threw away their pants, they remembered they have to actually write about the experience. Read the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 First Drive @ Edmunds

just received my Autoweek mag and on the cover is this new Ferrari 612. Looks to me that the genes for this car came from the 1988 Pontiac Banshee concept car. Anyone who is familiar with the 88' Banshee would probably agree with me. I dunno, at least that was the first thing I thought when I saw this Ferrari!
