Selling 10,000 cars in a year can seem like a small achievement. For automotive companies in the highest echelons, that number is a significant milestone. Delivering 10,112 vehicles worldwide in 2023, Lamborghini broke through the 10,000 vehicle sales mark for the first time since it was founded in 1963. Selling exactly 3000 cars, the United States was Lamborghini's biggest market. Canada received 357 cars. Germany was the second biggest market with 961, while China came third at 845 units. Lamborghini's home market of Italy came in eighth place with 409 cars delivered. What makes this more impressive is that Lambo only had two models for 2023. Unsurprisingly, the U…

Lamborghini has pulled the sheet off their first hybrid in the for of the Lamborghini Siån ahead of the Frankfurt International Auto Show. The 808-Horsepower hyper-car take the V-12 from the Aventador SVJ and uprates it to 774 horsepower. Then the addition of a 48-volt electric motor adds an additional 34 horsepower. The motor is located in the gearbox and can be used for low speed parking maneuvers. The regenerative braking sends power to a supercapacitor unit during deceleration which then supplies a power boost to the car at speeds up to 81 mph. The electric motor also smooths out the acceleration curve, working during gear changes it smooths out the shift poi…

Lamborghini has been toying with the idea of electrification for some time. It would allow them to meet stricter emission regulations while retaining their naturally aspirated engines. Their CEO has made it official, the replacement for the Aventador will have electrification. "The next Aventador will be hybrid, with a V12. A decision is made on that and this is something that will keep us different from the others and this is very important," said Stefano Domenicali to Auto Express. In addition, the replacement for the Huracan will go down the electrification route by retaining the V10 and adding an electric motor. We got a hint of this back in March during a …

Lamborghini's model lineup will grow by one when the Urus goes on sale later this year. But the Italian sports car builder is considering adding another model to their lineup, not anytime soon though. “I think that first of all we need to consider where we were a couple of years ago. We were selling 1000 cars. It [current levels] is a big step. We’re going to do another step [with Urus], so we need to be prudent," said Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali to Motoring. “For sure, as soon as we have stabilised the growth, in a very methodical way, what we can see is that we’re going to think of introducing another model … but in the second part [of the next decade] …

We are still a few years out before Lamborghini introduces a successor to the Huracán, but it still will retain a V10 engine. “I think in the field where the Huracán is, the effect of having two cylinders more than all the other competitors will be a big difference,” said Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini's chief technical officer to Car and Driver. “When we made the Gallardo with the first V-10, people thought we were crazy because of packaging, the weight, the cost, everything. And it was a storming success. For me I need to say thanks to the Gallardo engine, and it is clear that this is part of my vision for the DNA of the super-sports-car field of Lamborghini.”…

Lamborghini has once again entered the SUV scene with the introduction of Urus at the company's headquarters in Italy tonight. The Urus is very much a Lamborghini in design. The overall profile is wedge-shaped and features a drastically sloping roofline, angled windows, a fair number of cutouts for cooling in the front, and flared out fenders. Inside, the Urus features a flat-bottom steering wheel and an angled center stack. The starter button is located at the bottom of the center stack. Under the hood is a first for Lamborghini - a turbocharged engine. Lamborghini explains the reason they went with turbocharging is low-end torque. This should help the Urus get …

Lamborghini has never been one to follow convention and this is very much the case with the Terzo Millennio concept. Working together with MIT, the concept is the Italian sports car builder's idea for a futuristic supercar. It certainly looks like a futuristic Lamborghini with a short front, deep and massive air vents, and a wild rear end look. The body is made out of carbon fiber and could be used to store energy. Lamborghini and MIT are investigating how they can use the carbon fiber shell as a big battery. This technology can also allow the vehicle to heal small cracks by varying the amount of charge throughout the body. The car is said to be able to monitor the s…

Lamborghini has been hesitant to move on from their naturally aspirated V10 and V12 engines to hybrid powertrains for their sports cars. “When they come to Lamborghini, they are asking for the power and performance of our naturally aspirated engines,” he said. “That’s why we have already decided that the next-generation V12 will stay naturally aspirated and it is one reason why the [Aventador] remains unique,” said Lamborghini's Commercial boss Federico Foschini a few months back to Autocar. But Lamborghini is working on a hybrid powertrain for the successor to the Huracán. “The [next] Huracán – that car will need hybridisation. Hybridisation is the ans…

Lamborghini has reportedly begun work on a fourth model that will debut in 2021. Autocar reports that the model in question is a four-door sedan that could bridge the gap between their supercars and the upcoming Urus SUV. The sedan is said to be similar to the Estoque concept from 2008 with an engine up front. The model would use the MSB platform that underpins the Porsche Panamera and upcoming Bentley Continental GT. When asked about adding a new model after the Urus, Lamborghini’s commercial director Federico Foschini said, “We must be humble. The Urus is only at the pre-production phase and, while the goal is to double sales volumes over a few years, we…

Lamborghini has been somewhat quiet on their upcoming SUV, the Urus. But a recent report from Automotive News begins to reveal some interesting details. Speaking with Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali, the Urus will pack a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 650 horsepower. There will also be plug-in hybrid version that will use the twin-turbo V8. The model is expected to be shown towards the end of this year at Lamborghini's factory in Sant'agata Bolognese, Italy. Sales will begin in the second quarter next year for Europe, with the U.S. following in the third quarter. Source: Automotive News (Subscription Required) View full article

Before too long, Lamborghini will have three models in its lineup; Aventador, Huracan, and the Urus SUV. But there is talk about another model joining the lineup. Let us set the scene. Motoring reports that Lamborghini's new CEO Stefano Domenicali wants to see the brand's sports cars to use a single platform as a way to share parts and reduce costs in development. The current Aventador and Huracan share very little and Domenicali believes this is unworkable. “If we talk about super sports cars we need to consider that the right approach would be to be modular. We cannot have two models with two power units, two gearboxes, two chassis, honestly it’s not viable in…

The internet was ablaze this morning when a picture popped up on twitter showing what looked to be a mule for the upcoming Lamborghini Urus SUV. Top Gear magazine’s Editor-at-Large Rowan Horncastle took a picture of the vehicle sitting in a parking lot at Munich airport. But when we took a look at said picture, something felt off. If you closely at the front, you'll notice tape that has 'Lamborghini' printed on it. I don't know about you, but I don't think an automaker would put tape with their name on it for a test vehicle. It seems our feeling was correct. CarScoops was able to obtain another picture which reveals this isn't a Urus mule. Instead, it is an Audi Q7 w…

Lamborghini will be seeing a change of the guard next month as current CEO Stephan Winkelmann will become head of Audi's Quattro GmbH - the division that it tasked with working on the R and RS models. Winkelmann's successor will be former Scuderia Ferrari F1 team principal Stefano Domenicali. Winkelmann became Lamborghini's CEO in 2005 and is credited for the massive growth the brand has been seeing for a few years now. In 2015, Lamborghini sold a record 3,245 vehicles. Winkelmann also signed off the Urus SUV which is expected in a couple of years. "I have been responsible for Lamborghini for a significant period of time in its history, and in the process have alw…

It has been a long wait for Lamborghini to learn if they could move forward with their SUV project, the Urus. First shown at Beijing Motor Show in 2012, the concept made the rounds at different shows. Since it was first shown, the car generated a lot positive response and caused Lamborghini to make plans for a production model. The only thing in the way was getting the approval from its parent company - Volkswagen. This week, Lamborghini finally got the green light for their new SUV which will come out in 2018. The new SUV doesn't have a name, but it will be built at their Sant’Agata Bolognese facility in Italy. Lamborghini plans on building 3,000 SUVs per year, with …

A decision on whether or not the Lamborghini Urus will transition from concept to production model has been put on hold once more. A source tells Autocar that Lamborghini's parent company is a bit hesitant on giving the green light on this 2+2 crossover due to a possible downturn for the world’s economy and the unrest in the Middle East. “We are convinced the Urus can significantly boost global sales, but the financial conditions need to be sound. Right now, there are signs we may be heading for a downturn in the markets due to various factors, including trouble in the Middle East, although this is not reflected in the current sales situation, which puts us ahead of 2013…

Lamborghini has revealed the successor to the Gallardo, the all new Huracán. The small Lamborghini takes a lot from the bigger Aventador in its design. The angular front end features massive airducts and LED headlights. The side profile is a dead ringer for the Aventador with airducts around the door and low roofline. In the back is a look that is very reminiscent of the Reventón with a short length and narrow tailights. Moving inside, the Huracán comes with reconfigurable 12.3-inch screen that acts as the instrument cluster and loads of Nappa leather and Alcantara. Under the hood is a 5.2L V10 engine with 610 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. A new seven-speed…

A Legendary Boat Builder recevied a special order for a custom built boat in 1968 from Ferruccio Lamborghini. The boat ran a pair of Marin modified V12's and was known for it's special tuned Open Pipe Exhuast. The boat was thought lost for ever after his death till a Dutch Riva boat collector found it sitting under a tarp in a boat yard. Calling upon the retired men who modified the original engines and who modified new 350GT V12 engines, 25 coats of Lacquer and 3 years of loving work at the top Riva Boat restoration company in Holland we now have this beauty back in action. Looks like the Batmobile from the Dark Knight. http://www.automotto.org/entry/lamborghini-ankonian-concept-project-adds-more-aggression-to-the-reventon/ A couple of days back, we had a look at the Lamborghini Madura concept, and now there’s a more aggressive concept from designer Slavche Tanevsky in the form of the Lamborghini Ankonian concept. According to the designer, the Ankonian takes the design of the Reventon to the next level, even though the concept itself manages a unique expression. The supercar concept has a more aggressive design, and is downsized to account for a more environment-friendly status, though it does not include any hybrid or similar technologie…

Nessun Vada: No Retro Lambos Lamborghini will not build any retro-themed vehicles in the foreseeable future, according to CEO Stephan Winkelmann. "Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura, even as a limited edition," Mr. Winkelmann told the U.K. Car magazine. And old designs aren't the only thing the Italian automaker will be leaving in the past. The company also won't resurrect retired nameplates, according to Winkelmann. He said spiritual successors to the the Espada or LM002 could be built, but they would go by new names. 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spider Sinfully delightful. by Paul A. Eisenstein (2006-04-24) Envy, greed, avarice, lust. There's something sinful about Lamborghini's latest, the Gallardo Spider. Actually a lot of things, and we could probably add a few new ones to the classic list of the seven deadly sins. But as you pull the top down on this impossibly angular little roadster, you know you're going to enjoy experiencing them all. We took delivery of a bright orange Spider on what proved, mercifully, to be the first warm day of Detroit 's short spring. After a quick briefing, we plopped into the roadster's comfortably enveloping seats and hit the "Start" button. Th…

Lamborgh-Audi By Karl Brauer Date posted: 03-06-2006 The Countach may have established Lamborghini as a world-class exotic carmaker in 1971, but it's Audi's ownership, which began in 1998, that has defined the modern Sant'Agata automaker in the 21st century. Under Audi, the Italian firm debuted the midengine, V12 Murciélago in 2002 and the V10 Gallardo in 2004. Both cars continue to function as the picturesque, visual feast we've come to expect from vehicles wearing Ferruccio Lamborghini's name. But with the cold, calculating discipline of Germany's largest automaker ultimately pulling the strings, can the spirit and passion that inspired the original Countach surviv…

Exclusive pics: new Lambo Murciélago Lamborghini has turned the dial up to 11 for its latest show-stopper, the Murciélago LP640. Unlike the Miura concept shown at Detroit in January, the LP640 is very much for real and creates the ultimate road-going version of the company's flagship model. The LP640 will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show next week, but here we have an exclusive preview of the fastest production Lambo ever built. A 6.5-litre V12 engine lies at the heart of the LP640, where LP stands for 'longitudinale posteriore', which refers to the V12 unit mounted lengthways behind the cockpit. With deeper and wider cylinder bores than the previous 6.2-litre V…

http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/tw/05gallardo.htm September 7, 2005 Test Drive: 2005 Lamborghini Gallardo Review and photos by Tony Whitney There's nothing more fascinating in the world of automobiles than the super-exotic sports car segment, populated by mystical names producing vehicles that cost as much - or perhaps far more - than a decent family home in most parts of the country. Recent years have seen all kinds of changes in this segment, but the overall picture is one of amalgamation with major automakers, rather than a scenario in which great names gradually fade into history. Without big name automakers stepping in, few of those …
