Aston Martin has unveiled their DBX SUV in Beijing China. This is the first SUV in the brand's 106-year history. It is being build at a new plant in Wales that is part of Aston Martin's second century rebirth plan. The DBX uses a bonded aluminum construction method to help keep weight down. Remember the Aston Martin Cygnet? It's ok if you don't as the vehicle is a bit of an odd unicorn. About two years ago, Aston Martin unveiled the RapidE concept which took a standard Rapide and swapped the V12 for an electric powertrain. At the time, the company was planning to put this model into production. Today, the company made it official. Aston Martin announced that the production version of the RapidE would begin rolling off the assembly line in 2019. The rule in question deals with new side-impact crash regulations that require vehicles to better withstand the impact from running into a pole or tree. Turning things around, Aston Martin defeated C6R in Road Atlanta for a 1-2 finish. This is their 4th victory over the Corvette team. Corvette still leads in points but the gap has tightened. Now if only the other supercar manufactures would step up to the plate. Team Corvette has stated that the added weight rules are hurting them.
