InsideLineVideo youtubed this vid a while back, maybe most of you saw it, but it too, I didn't see it posted here, so I will do it right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlIZ9TbzdIQ The pic of the concept: About the only Kia I think that looks OK among their concepts. To me, if they can manage to keep MOST of the features that the concept had, I think this will have some potentials. Though, it maybe just me.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/6070821.001/20...-u.s.-southwest Looks pretty good so far actually, relatively close to the concept. Kia's made a dramatic turnaround, (like Saturn), so I can't wait to see this and the large Mesa SUV.

Spied: 2009 Kia Mesa Hard to tell if these recent spy photos are really the 2009 Kia Mesa or not, but now that the Hyundai Veracruz has been unveiled it's not much of a stretch to think Kia would want a three row SUV of its own. You can see a few styling cues from the Mesa concept in this prototype like its broad grille and boxy shape. Those six-spoke wheels also look straight out of the Kia/Hyundai parts bin. With the Veracruz scheduled to go on sale later this year, expect to see the Kia version hit the streets about a year later. Edmunds Straightline

I usually am pretty good about staying up to date with new model intros and such, but this one isn't even on the manufacturer's website...yet, it has already appeared on a dealer's lot. What is it? The new Kia Rondo crossover. Last I even heard anything about this, they were discussing some unmasked spy shots, and now here it is for sale (and still not on the Kia site): http://www.dullesauto.com/Kia/273026_1.html Looks pretty good, if a bit dorky, for whatever market it is covering. And still, weird that it sorta popped out of nowhere...

I just realized that Kia's Optima, at least the fron end, bares quite a resmblence to teh Q45. Though at least the Infiniti has a nicer interior. Am I the only one who noticed this?

U.S. Kia Plant Groundbreaking Occuring Today The AIADA newsletter reported that Kia Motors President Chung Eui Sun is coming to America this week to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the automaker's $1 billion assembly plant in West Point, Georgia. The automaker had planned to host the event in April, but plans were delayed when South Korean prosecutors would not allow Chung to travel amid an ongoing investigation by the South Korean government. The plant is expected to be completed in 2009, with an initial capacity target of 200,000 vehicles annually. Read "Groundbreaking for Kia's First U.S. Plant To Take Place Today" @ The Auto Channel

more later, but in short, went to drive a Sedona Saturday. In a lot of ways its a good product but in some ways it DOES NOT live up to all the hype its been getting. The Sienna, Odyssey AND QUEST are all superior. pros - willing engine, transmission, powertrain well sorted out, light and decently quick steering, manumatic available, seat adjusters on the door, warranty, spacious cons - slightly cheesy interior, suspension is too soft, does not feel seat of the pants durable for the long haul, 2nd row does not stow, cheap plastics and fabrics, boring gauges, cheap feeling power doors and rear hatch (when will it break), thin feeling sheet metal, could use a 6th gea…

Edmunds Evaluation: 2006.5 Kia Optima What Works: Spacious rear seat, surprisingly good interior materials, long list of standard features. What Needs Work: Lack of top-end power from the V6, average driving dynamics. Bottom Line: Forget what you thought you knew about Korean cars. The all-new Optima not only rivals the domestics, but is poised to take on the Japanese. Read "Full Test: 2006.5 Kia Optima" @ Edmunds

I am not drinking any merlot! By Donna DeRosa Date posted: 04-10-2006 Kia introduced its all-new 2006.5 Optima in scenic Napa Valley, California, where wine is king and Sideways the movie of choice. The sandy, hilly ground is ideal for growing grapes, and the curvy roads are perfect for test-driving cars. Even intermittent rain did not hamper our car-tasting pleasure. A fine blend of value and comfort, with subtle hints of sport Built in Kia's Hwasung manufacturing facility in South Korea, this second-generation Optima sits on a unique platform, no longer shared with Hyundai's Sonata. Kia says it took cues from European styling and lengthened the Optima's wheelbase…

2006.5 Kia Optima Everything you ever wanted in a 1998 Toyota Camry. by John Pearley Huffman (2006-04-24) The most impressive thing about Kia's new Sedona minivan is that it competes so effectively against contemporary competition like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna. What's disappointing about Kia's new Optima four-door sedan is that, while it's better than any previous Kia sedan, it doesn't make the big leap forward the Sedona has. The Japanese competition is still clearly better. But before getting to the specifics here, what's the deal with this car being sold as "2006.5" model? The Kia guys mumbled something about it having to do with when the car went on s…

Kia's new U.S. plant is no windfall for U.S. suppliers Lindsay Chappell | | Automotive News / April 3, 2006 - 6:00 am When Kia Motors Corp. opens its $1.2 billion vehicle assembly plant in Georgia in 2009, the largest companies supplying the parts are more likely to be named Mobis or Dongwon than Magna or Dana. Instead of looking for new suppliers in the United States, Kia will piggyback onto the largely Korean supply chain that opened last year in Alabama to serve Kia's sister company, Hyundai Motor Co. Kia has told Georgia officials that it envisions only five or six new supplier plants being necessary to support the Georgia auto plant. U.S. companies have rea…

Story Front Angle Rear Angle Side Angle Looks as if the Optima will actually be nicer than the Sonata for once. I'd rather get a Chevy Epica though, Front Angle Rear Angle Side Angle Well, Kia is apparantly on its way I suppose.

2006 Kia Sedona Homework does pay off, kids. by Bengt Halvorson (2006-02-13) Few vehicles are both loved and despised as much as the minivan. As models of how to move passengers and cargo safely, comfortably, and economically, they've found a loyal base of buyers. But they're also hated - including by some of those same loyal buyers - for being just short of anonymous. Despite how several automakers have allowed their minivan models to slide out of the limelight, minivans are still a very significant chunk of the new-vehicle market, with still more than a million sold per year in the U.S. The Kia Sedona was originally introduced for the U.S. market for 2002, wi…

CHICAGO SHOW: Kia mulls North American assembly 10 Feb 2006 Source: just-auto.com editorial team Kia is hoping to sell more than 300,000 light vehicles in the US in 2006, up from 275,000 in 2005, and at that level Kia executives believe local assembly would be necessary, according to Reuters. Quoting Kia Motors America chief operating office Len Hunt, the news agency said the automaker could be forced to make a decision about a site for its first North American plant soon, if it reaches its 2006 target. Kia reportedly has not yet narrowed down its choice to a specific country within North America. Parent company Hyundai opened its first North American plant in Ala…

For the first time in the D-segment, Kia Motors will be offering customers a choice of gasoline and diesel engines. December 1, 2005 First Drive: 2006 Kia Sedona Review and photos by Paul Williams (Canadian Driver) Kelowna, British Columbia - Start a conversation with an auto writer, and the topic soon turns to -- you guessed it -- cars (sorry, it's all we really know). Fortunately, the guy next to me on a recent Kelowna-to-Vancouver flight was an enthusiastic car nut, and our subsequent talk made quick work of the one-hour flight. After reminiscing about the first cars we owned, along with the scariest cars we'd driven (his were a ‘62 Chevrolet Biscayne and a ‘56 Triumph TR3 respectively), the conversation got real. "What would you recommend for four-to-five pe…

KiaKCV-III Concept Kia Considers Adding Inexpensive Roadster to U.S. Lineup Date Posted 09-28-2005 KIRKLAND, Wash. — Peter Butterfield, president and CEO of Kia Motors America, is pushing the Korean manufacturer to add a stripped-down, sub-$20,000 two-seat convertible to its U.S. lineup to evoke a sporty brand image. Butterfield told WardsAuto.com that the car would be "very, very stripped. No carpets; maybe rollup windows, if you had windows at all; really light; fun to drive; doesn't even have a radio; without an electric top." It would be a car that buyers could accessorize, he said. Kia showed a small concept roadster, the KCV III, at the 2004 Detroit Au…
