William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 12, 2012 The current Honda Civic has been lambasted by the press for its dull styling, awful interior, and many other reasons. Despite this, the current Civic has been selling like hotcakes. Through October, Honda has sold 254,716 Civics, making it the best selling compact car in the U.S. Still, Honda knew it had to make changes to the Civic and moved up the refresh from 2013 to this year. This morning, Honda partly unveiled the 2013 Civic that will be officially shown at the L.A. Auto Show later this month. The new Civic has a lot of updates outside and inside. Starting with the exterior, Honda has drastically…

Article @ formula1.com It truly is sad, given 2009 was set up to be a return to success with new leadership and a new engine. Unfortunately it will never materialize. And given the last 2 seasons, it would have almost been better had Honda pulled out after 2006, which was a fairly good season. The way F1 was going, towards more regulation, budget caps, and even possibly standard engines across the field, had most of the manufacturers pretty pissed off at F1. It was no surprise to see manufacturer teams pulling out, I'm just surprised Honda was the first, and how abrupt it was.

Inside Line How does adding 88 lbs extra for 2006 lower the Accord Hybrid's fuel efficiency by 4 MPG? Ahh, wait a minute: IMO, $31,500 is too much for only 253 hp and 25/34 MPG. I'll buy an Impala LTZ instead and pocket the $5000 I save toward gas expenses.

Honda Recalling 25,000 Civics
by Guest Josh- 15 replies

Honda Motor Co. recalled about 25,000 Civics on Thursday because the accelerator pedal was improperly installed on some 2006 models, which could cause a crash. If the pedal is improperly installed, it could come loose, cause the throttle to stick and raise the potential for a crash. Honda spokesman Sage Marie said there have been no crashes or injuries linked to the issue in the popular-selling vehicle. The "vast majority" of the 25,298 vehicles under recall in the United States have not yet been sold, Marie said. A dealer inspecting the vehicles discovered the problem in late September and reported it to the automaker, leading to an internal investigation, he…

03/25/2011 - TORRANCE, Calif. Honda will voluntarily recall 2,800 model-year 2011 Odyssey vehicles in the U.S. to replace the side window glass in one or both of the front doors. Honda is taking this step because there is a potential for one or both windows to become detached from the window regulator, causing the window to become inoperative and preventing it from being rolled up or down. In the worst case, the window may bind and shatter onto the occupants. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this defect. Honda is announcing this recall to encourage all owners of affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authori…

https://www.motor1.com/news/268789/honda-cr-v-engine-troubles-report/ Seems Honda's popular CR-V and their Civics that share their 1.5L Turbo motor are all having a major stall problem from Oil and Gas getting mixed upon entering the engine. This becomes an even bigger recall for 2019, 2018 and some 2017 models as Honda sold over 500,000 CR-Vs in the US alone not including this same engine in Canada and Mexico. Honda says they are working on a solution and will apply it under warranty to all engines. Yet this makes one ask would you want a new cracked motor to fix a problem with gas / oil mixing or would you want a complete new motor? While Honda has not stated…

TOKYO — Honda Motor Co. plans to recall 45,335 Civic Hybrid sedans worldwide to repair a voltage converter defect that could stop the car's engine, a company spokeswoman said Friday. Japan's No. 2 automaker plans to recall 7,219 of the vehicles sold in Japan and another 38,116 sold overseas, mostly in the U.S., a Honda spokeswoman said. She spoke on condition of anonymity, citing company policy. Honda learned about the defect — which could cause a short circuit that would stop the engine and prevent it from restarting — from overseas reports, the company said in documents filed Thursday with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Honda has received no rep…

Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it will recall about 99,000 Odyssey and Stream minivans produced between 2003 and 2005, while Suzuki Motor Corp. said it would recall about 325,000 vehicles. Honda said a computer problem may cause the failure of a pump that transmits oil to the minivans' continually variable transmissions and that it would repair the defect free of charge. Separately, Suzuki said it will recall a total of about 325,000 vehicles from five models - Alto, Alto Lapin, Kei, Wagon R, and Mr Wagon - because insufficient lubrication of bearings in their transmissions could result in a breakdown. It was not clear whether the recalls affected vehicles sold outs…

Money Story NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Honda Motor Co. said Friday it widened a previously announced recall to add 440,000 cars that could have a lethal airbag defect. Affected models include the 2001-2002 Honda Accord, 2001 Civic and 2002-2003 Acura TL. The potential defect has caused 6 known injuries and one known death, according to Honda spokesman Chris Naughton. The recall will require the driver's side steering-wheel-mounted airbag inflator to be replaced. In some cars, the airbag inflators may over-pressurize the inflator mechanism as the airbag is deploying, which could cause the inflator casing to rupture, according to Honda. As a result the carmaker s…

Honda to produce fuel cell car in three to four years By DPA Feb 22, 2006, 19:00 GMT Tokyo - The Japanese manufacturer Honda is close to winning the race in becoming the first mass car producer to offer a hydrogen- powered fuel cell car. The company recently announced at the Detroit Motor Show that the Honda FCX Concept vehicle resembled the car it would produce in three to four years time. Other major car makers have said that it will take between 10 and 15 years to mass produce the first fuel cell vehicle running on hydrogen. But the FCX Concept, first unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show and also presented in Detroit this month, indicates that Honda has taken a bi…

Honda to roll out cheap new hybrid model in early '09 May 21, 2008 3:53 AM ET Link to Source TOKYO (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co said on Wednesday it would launch a new, low-cost hybrid car in Japan, North America and Europe in early 2009 as it seeks to cut the lead of Toyota Motor Corp in the green car race. Despite the pressure of record-high oil prices and concerns over climate change, fuel-efficient and low-emission hybrids still occupy a small niche in the global car market, partly due to their higher costs for both consumers and automakers. Japan's top two automakers lead the industry in the fuel-saving technology which runs on both electricity and gasoline, bu…

Honda Unveils Next-Gen Clean Diesel TOCHIGI, Japan 09/25/2006 -- Honda Motor Co., Ltd., today announced it has developed a next-generation diesel engine that reduces exhaust gas emissions to a level equal to a gasoline engine. Honda's next-generation diesel engine employs a revolutionary NOx catalytic converter that enables a great reduction in NOx emissions sufficient to meet stringent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier II Bin 5 emissions requirements (based on Honda's internal calculations). This catalytic converter features the world's first innovative system using the reductive reaction of ammonia generated within the catalytic converter to "detoxify" …

Honda Unveils the Production Civic Type R The new Type R continues to be powered by the naturally-aspirated, high-revving 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine but the unit has been significantly reworked to improve responsiveness using a new balancer shaft and drive-by-wire throttle control. VTEC variable valve timing and VTC variable inlet camshaft technology continue to underpin the engine structure. Further development of the Type R unit means more useable torque, as the switch to high-lift, long duration valve timing (the cam change) now takes place at a lower 5,200rpm, and continues all the way to 8,000rpm. So that screaming, high rpm VTEC range is broader and more acces…

Honda Warns Dealers About Civic Supply William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 3, 2011 Honda has put a warning out to their dealers with the 2012 Civic. In a memo sent to dealers, American Honda Motor Co. sales boss John Mendel said the supply will be “severely restricted, with limited availability of certain models.” The memo also states production of the new Civic will, “be at significantly reduced levels at least during the summer months,” because of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March. Honda has set up a secret “goodwill” warranty program that may save 2003-04 CR-V and Element owners millions of dollars in windshield replacement costs. The ‘goodwill’ warranty is contained in a technical service bulletin filing the automaker recently made under the United States government’s TREAD act. Honda’s confidential bulletin clearly states the manufacturer has a serious problem with cracking windshields that suffer from factory-related mistakes. Unfortunately, while Honda has this secret warranty extension in its back pocket, dealers are telling owners to seek payment from their insurance companies, resulting in higher insurance premiums for affected owners.” Th…

Didn't see this posted anywhere here: http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0...2207975,00.html It's widely accepted (if little-known) that GM is one of the pack leaders when it comes to hydrogen research. But here Honda is about to pull a Toyota and win huge mindshare by releasing this car. Personally, I think GM should at least have an answer ready to go, if not released around the same timeframe, but I understand the lack of money might be an issue. I just hope somebody at GM is paying attention.

The current Honda CR-V has been a hot seller for the brand since being introduced back in 2007. Honda knows they have a lot riding on the next CR-V and they hope their effort pays off with the new model shown today at LA. The CR-V exterior gets new sheetmetal which gives the CR-V a more refined look with a sloping roof, revised front end, and new taillights. Inside, Honda has improved interior quality, added more interior space, and quick-stow rear seats. The CR-V's powertrain is the faithful 2.4L i-VTEC four-cylinder, with 185 HP and 163 lb-ft of torque. Honda's five-speed automatic continues on as the only transmission which is a disappointment since competitor…

While enjoying the Cutlass, I got to check out a new Accord sedan, among a few other vehicles, last week. I'll start off by saying it exceeded my expectations. It looks great in person, all the body's lines and surfacing really set it off nicely. The proportions were nearly perfect and the detailing was nice. The only aspects of it I disliked were the bulging headlights and the rather plain trunk panel. Otherwise, the exterior had no faults in my eyes. As well, the interior looked quite elegant with its flowing dash and door panels. Packaging seemed to be top notch with it being very roomy inside. Interior quality was decidedly good except for the plastic south of the woo…

Recall: 2004-05 Honda Accords (81K) Honda Motor Co. is recalling 81,000 2004-2005 Accord sedans because of issues that could cause an air bag-related sensor to fail, the company said Wednesday. Honda said in a Jan. 9 letter to the government that the wiring harness for the seat position sensor, which detects the driver’s seating position and adjusts the air bag inflation pressure accordingly, was attached in the wrong location and may have been overtightened. Honda said the sensor wire could break and cause the air bag warning light to be illuminated and prevent the sensor from working properly. When the sensor fails, the air bag system automatically moves to full in…

Much has been written about the Insight, Honda’s new low-priced hybrid. We’ve been told how much carbon dioxide it produces, how its dashboard encourages frugal driving by glowing green when you’re easy on the throttle and how it is the dawn of all things. The beginning of days. ... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/j...icle6294116.ece

Reviews: 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan In the end, the Si sedan is so good that it makes the Si coupe seem faintly pointless. Sure, there will always be a market for the Civic coupe's space-pod, two-door profile. But almost everyone else will appreciate the combination of practical packaging with foot-to-the-floor performance. To find out which Civic Si is better for you, take this quiz. You use rear seats for: A) transporting Volcom hoodies and collecting empty Rockstar cans; B) you don't know what that means but still enjoy running the tachometer up to 8,000 rpm. If you answered "B," then the 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan is your ride of choice. The 2007 Honda Civic Si Sed…

Rumorpile: Civic To Get A Refresh In 2013?! William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 17, 2011 The new Honda Civic has been panned for many things, including a design that looks almost the same as the model it replaces. Well, Honda seems to be taking the concerns to heart and could be working a refresh. According to a source, Honda held a "Grassroots" meeting for West Coast Honda dealers. Dealers issued concerns and comments about the new Civic to the company. Honda's response to their dealers a "very refreshed, and more aggressively styled Civic" would make an appearance sometime in late 2012 as a 2013 model. Source: Temple of VTEC

:puke: is all I have to say. Pictures make it look decent....in person its not. It has no good views. It makes the incredibly dull and conservative previous generation look like a supermodel.

A blue sedan and a gray sedan and the new rear treatment is extrodinarily craptacular. Makes the car looks smaller and far, far chintzier than the pre-'06 models.

I know you guys are HUGE Honda haters, but this is something I was kicking around in my mind. Even with the gas prices the way they are now, big cars seem to be making a comeback. I was thinking that Honda should build a rear-drive chassis intended for big cars and the V-8 (whenever they DO decided to build it). The Honda brand car (called the Inspire) would be longer than the Acura RL and the Acura version (the FSX, named after and similar to an old luxury concept sedan) would basically be a LWB car suitable for limo conversion, fit the upcoming V-10, allow for the reclining back seats, and come in as the new Acura luxury flagship. Great competition for the LX cars…

JDM version of the new Fit-based crossover, the Honda Vezel. Goes on sale in the U.S., sourced from a new Mexican plant, second half of 2014... hmmm, looks sporty, love the color! Will not have the Vezel name in the U.S., I am guessing something like "CrossFit".

My coworker drives a Civic sedan (he got it instead of the coupe for practicality reasons). Yesterday I road with him so he could show me an apartment complex that was rather confusing to figure out...I'm sure I'll get lost the first time I deliver there. But I digress. The car is very roomy inside with top-notch interior materials that include a soft-touch upper dash, soft touch upper door panels, and fabric padded armrests on the center one and the doors. The hard plastics were well textures and pleasing to touch. I didn't mess with the switchgear but it all looked very easy to use. The design itself is really cool. the speedo is huge and easy to read the numbers, and…

Spied: 2008 Honda Civic Type R The new Honda Civic hatch sold in Europe will be receiving a Type R version (as always) for the 2008 model year. Primed to do battle with the likes of the GTI, it will likely use the same powerplant that is in our (better-looking) Civic Si: the 2.0L, 197-hp four-banger. Read "2008 Civic Type R lives" @ Edmunds

Spied: 2008 Honda Jazz (Fit) Mule When an Auto Express reader spotted this Honda in a motorway service station, it stood out because of its scrappy taped-up wheelarches. On closer inspection, it was clear this was no ordinary Jazz, but a mule being used to test parts for the firm's next-generation supermini. After the success of the new UK designed and developed Civic, Honda's British arm is now playing a major role in the Jazz project. But the big news is that the car will be offered with a diesel engine for the first time. This spyshot shows how the five-door will be bigger all-round than at present. Sources in Japan have revealed that the fresh model will use the…

Spied: 2008 Honda Pilot Editor's Note: Yes, it's gotten uglier. You gotta hand it to Honda; they are consistent. Every one of their new SUVs has been uglier than the previous generation. The first impression I get from the spy pics is a new MDX/RDX rear end grafted onto a Ridgeline front end. Read "Spy Photos: 2008 Honda Pilot" @ Edmunds

Spied: 2009 Honda Ridgeline Honda's Ridgeline pickup truck is due for an update, and spy photos prove that an overhaul is on the way. A new front-end design consists of a new grille and a revised front bumper, which looks similar to an early prototype of the next-generation Honda Pilot. Edmunds

Check out this write up on the new Sport Concept unveiled by Honda over at the Temple of Vtec (you don't need to join). It looks extremely good IMO. Very aggressive, wide, low, and sporty. The only thing I really don't like is the interior (which looks a little overdone, shouldve been black like a Type R would be). Honda also unveiled their Race car version Civic Si and the HFP package for the Civic Si at the SEMA show. If you want info about that, just navigate back to the main page on www.vtec.net and look at those articles. While you're there be sure to check out the Temple of Vtec's own customized Civic Si. http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=438107

Honda introduced its Acura RDX at the New York Auto Show earlier this month. Still under wraps, however, is the sister vehicle, the Honda CR-V, which will be built on the same platform. Now this latest spy shot captures a prototype CR-V closely following a prototype Acura RDX as they both undergo testing inAustralia. The overall size and shape of the two vehicles is quite similar, but there are numerous differences. Disguise on the side of the CR-V make it look to have side windows similar in shape to the RDX, but a closer look reveals that the side windows of the CR-V curve downward towards the rear, giving the windows a profile shape quite different from the RDX. Al…

Talking billboards tout Honda SUV Motorists driving by can tune radios to broadcast and listen to a quirky message. Josee Valcourt / The Detroit News "What does a Honda Element and platypus have in common?" That's the question Honda Motor Co. is posing in 16 major markets around the country. Drivers, including Michiganians southbound on Interstate 75 near Interstate 94, are advised to tune in to a specific radio frequency to find out. Those who oblige might hear a conversation between the vehicle and a platypus at a cocktail party. The new commercials, part of the "Element and Friends" advertising campaign which began last fall, play within five miles of the billboa…

2006 Honda Civic Si The Civic we want. by John Pearley Huffman (2006-03-03) Sorry, but this is going to be one of those stories that take a while to start because I'm going to indulge myself. But the 2006 Honda Civic Si is a car that has been too long in coming and it deserves some perspective. My relationship with the Honda Civic Si is a long and personal one. Back in 1990 my sister bought a new one and I took every opportunity to swipe it out from underneath her and drive it as my own. It was simply a great car that was also a greatly simple car - it had only as many moving parts as necessary and was better for it. Back in 1999 I was torn between buying either a n…

Focus Fanatics This is a guy shopping Honda for a new car. I'm not sure if you have to be registered to read this or not, but here it is: So, we have to be bombarded all the damn time with articles asking WHY an Escalade doesn't have a button for this and an automatic that. AND even articles QUESTIONING THE CADILLAC REVIVAL BASED ON THIS STUPIDITY and then get to listen to them whining about a Fusion not having navigation...etc...etc...etc... Yet, a car that NOT only doesn't come standard with A/C but also is ABSENT a radio gets their coveted NORTH AMERICAN CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD?!?!?!?! Last time I checked... BOTH of those were pretty RELEVANT standard equipment ev…

Yay for DOHCs right? Well not if it is a Honda I-4 or V6. What modern cars can you think of that need valve adjustments as part of scheduled maintenance under 100k miles? Ever wonder why all Hondas have valve tap as their mileage increases? It is the superior engineering of manually adjustable engine valves.... We also need a whole new throttle body to fix one tiny piece of broken plastic. When Albert txted me the price for all of this, I just told him to pick out which color Encore he wants. This superior piece of Japanese engineering is getting cleaned up, scratches fixed, and if I can find some poor schmuck to give me the $10k that KBB says it is worth, I'm taking…

Has anyone seen the new Accord ad where an Accord is driving through a city of white? Nothing but white as far as the eye can see. [All throughout the ad, all I could think was how boring a sedan it is.] Then at the end it claims, "Restyled...the 2006 Honda Accord. There's nothing vanilla about it." Seriously.
