What is Ram Planning for the 2011 Chicago Auto Show? Posted by Mike Levine | February 7, 2011 By the time you read this post, we'll probably be on our way to the 2011 Chicago Auto Show where Ram is expected to unveil "a truck aimed at carpenters, plumbers and other tradesmen," according to Automotive News. We don't have any more information to share, for now. The Ram folks are being very tight-lipped about their scheduled press conference on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. Central. What we do know is that we'll be there to bring you the news direct from the show floor. [source: Automotive News] Link: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2011/02/what-is-ram-planning-for-the-2011…

I just got back from a long day at the Chicago Auto Show and had a great time! I am exhausted from getting up at 5 AM to pick up others and make the 4 hour drive, so I will add pictures later. I started the day off with Ford, since it was right by the main door directly across from Toyota. Ford had some of the best displays, with plenty of interactive showcases, engine cutaways, and touch screens. Traffic in the Ford area was really good, with the Mustang, Taurus, Fiesta RS, and SVT Raptor receiving a lot of attention. The new Edge and Focus were very hot vehicles in person. They didn't do proper justice with the Focus though....only the sedan was there, and there w…

2010 CHICAGO AUTOSHOW I made my trek to Chicago again today (2/13/10) and armed myself with my trusty Pentax K-100D and 18-55mm along with a 2GB San Disk SD Ultra II. The show was very good, I took a quick tour (no photographs) of the "other side" (Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chrysler etc.) and spent most of my time in the Buick/Cadillac/Chevrolet/GMC area. CHEVROLET First up the Caprice PPV... (You had to know I was going to go there!) The car looked amazing in person I took over 50 photographs of it! The lines were smooth, interior looked roomy (product rep opened the doors), also the small details on the car were cool. I had the chance to talk to someone about GM's boned…

We usually know what vehicles an automaker will debut at a major auto show the weekend before, but General Motors has kept us in the dark about its plans for the Chicago Auto Show next week. As such, we're not expecting any major product reveals, but today we learned that GM will be introducing us to the new Bumblebee from the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He's the same Bumblebee from the first film, but the Camaro into which he transforms has been spiffed up for the sequel with a new front bumper, chin spoiler, hood scoop and different wheels. Whereas the first Bumblebee was based on the Camaro Concept, it appears that the new one is based on the actual prod…

It's SHO Time The SHO must go on. SHO me the money. It's SHO time! We've heard them all during the months of speculation leading up to this moment. Without further ado, we present to you the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. That's right, Ford has decided to revive the moniker once affixed to the sports sedan that wowed the automotive world way back in 1989. The original SHO survived three generations of Taurus models, was sold for 10 years straight and attracted over 100,000 buyers. But just as the Taurus itself devolved from America's best-selling car to a rental fleet afterthought, the original SHO ended production in 1999 having gone from a budget sports sedan to an overp…

When it comes to consumer loyalty, you'd be hard pressed to find a more dedicated group of fans outside the heavy-duty pickup segment. Recognizing this, Dodge has brought a slew of full-size trucks to the Chicago Auto Show in the form of the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 HD Chassis Cabs. Dodge started the heavy-duty retrofit with the highly-competent 1500 model introduced last year, then proceeded to create a crew cab variant that's claimed to be packing the most room in its class. Both regular and Mega Cab variants will be offered, along with two bed sizes (six-foot, four-inch or eight-foot) and five trim levels: ST, SLT, TRX, Laramie and Power Wagon. Pickup afi…

As Will Ferrell once said, "If you've got it, flaunt it." The boys at SRT are quite proud of the Viper ACR's 7:22.1 run of the Nürburgring, and they have brought the car out to Chicago to let everyone know who sits atop the podium. We would've assumed it was just your everyday Viper ACR except that the team that set the record has signed the carbon fiber rear wing including the driver, SRT engineer Tom Coronel. The record-setting run, which was done back in August, bested the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (7:22.4), Maserati MC12 (7:24.3), Pagani Zonda F Clubsport (7:24.7) and Ferrari Enzo (7:25.3). We've included a new gallery of the car from the show and embedded t…

Full article For 2010, Acura will offer a V6 trim level on its TSX. Since its introduction in 2004, the TSX has only been available with a 2.4L engine. Rumors of a V6 model sprung up almost immediately following the introduction of the 2009 model, and it was made clear that there was indeed room for a V6 under the hood. Well now it's official, the 2010 TSX will have the option of a 280hp V6, the same engine as seen in the base model TL. Along with that, the V6 model will feature 18 inch wheels and improved suspension tuning. The only transmission option, at least for 2010, will be the 5-speed automatic. No rumors yet as to the availability of a 6-speed manual (with LSD)…

http://www.thecarconnection.com/Vehicle_Re...181.A13873.html Chevrolet will join the trio of big GM crossovers with a fourth family vehicle, the Traverse. On display at the Chicago auto show, the Traverse is based on the same mechanicals as the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. Chevrolet says it's targeting the likes of the Ford Edge, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot with the new seven- or eight-passenger Traverse. The Traverse, which goes on sale in the fall as a 2009 model, shares some of the styling themes applied to the award-winning 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, GM says in a release. It's a distinct look with more crisp lines than either the Enclave or Ou…

It has become a tradition my GM (car) loving son must have his fix and go to the Chicago Autoshow, and we did this year together. It was the perfect father and son get-away except for the wild and annoying rednecks on the three hour bus ride. We decided not to bother visiting the other side of the show, we stayed in the GM area of the show only. No kidding the photos will clearly reveal that. So hold on here they come!

http://www.automochatter.com/forum/showthr...p=5767#post5767 Just got back from from the Chicago show press preview. I just wanted to get some random thoughts down. Challenger: Very cool car. Doesn't seem as big in the flesh, as it does in pictures. Also the interior is much nicer in the flesh, than I expected after seeing pictures. Speaking of interiors, I was expecting the Challenger to have a very roomy rear seat, something along the lines of a Monte Carlo. Not really though, the rear seat seemed surprisingly cramped. If you get two people back there, they won't be happy. Three, and they better be VERY little kids. Looks sharp in black though. G8: Once ag…

The obvious answer would be the Chicago Auto Show. However what happens in Chicago doesn’t stay in Chicago, so let’s cut to the chase. Ford’s naming strategy A few days before the show, it was already leaking out that the Ford 500 would be renamed the Taurus. Spent last night at the Chicago First Look to Charity event and it was a blast. I should have eaten more food and drank more, but so hard to do when you really just want to sit in all the cars and take advantage of not having to wait in a line to get in them. GM's offering was very nice, and I am extremely impressed with the Acadia! I went into the show with the idea in my head that I was going to narrow down my search to about 3-5 'CARS' then test drive for a purchase in the next few months. My initial list consisted of all cars and wagons. I left the show scratching my head and hard pressed to find anything else that could beat the Acadia for the cost and what it o…

I thought I'd give everyone a quick write-up on my impressions at the auto show. First, I was amazed at the lack of people at the show on Friday. Saturday was crowded, so I would highly suggest that anyone who is planning to go to the show go on a weekday. This is a very long write-up, but I hope you at least skim through it. Ok, here goes... We walked into the Ford area first. We sat in the Fusion, then the Edge. Both have nice seats, and the Fusion's interior is acceptable for the price, but the Edge's is very poor. It's a half-step up from the Fusion's, but it can cost more than twice as much. I was very disappointed in the Edge interior. Next, we sat in a Shelby M…

I also had the displeasure of sitting in a new Camry the interior was sub-par and wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, the Lucerne's was better in my …

So my wife went and surprised the heck out of me this year for Christmas and purchased 2 tickets to the First Look for Charity event the night before the Chicago Auto show officially opens to the public. Here I was thinking I was getting a Dewalt 18V drill and instead I receive, IMO, one of the best gifts EVER for a car nut like me. Its tradition that I attend this show every year and sit in a Corvette. But to hob nob with some of the high society in my tux and sip champagne while nibbling on the finger food is completely outrageous. I owe her big time for this! Hey with some GM debuts at this show, maybe Wagoner and Lutz will be in town for me to meet! I'm so ex…

What a disappointment when I saw almost the exact same Aura that was there last year. Only changes being those that members of this site have noted in previous posts elsewhere. Lucerne was also somewhat of a let down in person. No folding rear seats and low output HP V6??? Make the V6 at least 240, then keep the 275 Northstar V8. Just too big of a jump currently in my opinion. Needs a 5 speed auto too. I was pleasantly surprised with the Malibu Maxx SS. Better interior quality than the Impala...for less money! You really get alot of car inthe Maxx SS for the coin. Seems like a deal to me. Subaru Outback was also a stong contender for my wallet. Wagon u…

Hi all, Just checked out the website for the Chicago Auto Show coming in Feb. and it looks like the Aura is set to debut there! Previous visits to this site, did not list this info, rather it only offered the Vue Green Line. So maybe someone "in the know" can verify this??? I secretly hoped to sit it there this year in full production form, as I loved the concept and if I recall correct it was to be a 2007 model? Or was it '08? Either way, we need confirmation from the insiders here...hopefully this wasn't posted already, I haven't seen it if it has. Jason
