Well, the show got off to a pretty interesting start. Rick Wagoner's MPG keynote was remarkable for two reasons. First, he did a great job crystalizing GM's efforts on the alternative fuel and fuel consumption fronts. No one in attendance should now doubt that GM is - or will soon be - a leader in this area. It was ironic, then, that the other most interesting aspect of his speech was a demonstration by environmentalists while he was still up on the stage. The demonstrators at first seemed to disenginuously try to present themselves as representatives of the automaker. They stated Mr. Wagoner would be making an important announcement today - a pledge to make GM the…

Toyota Calty RLV By the Manufacturer Designer: Kevin J. Chun As population in Los Angeles increases and more vehicles appear on the road, traffic conditions in the LA area continues to worsen. This traffic problem is the main focus and reasoning behind Toyota's RLV (Renewable Lifestyle Vehicle) concept for 2015. The RLV is a lightweight, aluminum bodied, two-seat tandem vehicle that features an innovative collapsible track system and a split powertrain. Most 'Angelenos' agree that only two speeds exist in LA: 5 and 75mph. Also, rush hour and no rush hour, traffic and no traffic. Thus, 'tortoise and hare'...slow and fast. The Toyota RLV identifies this 'tortoise and …

Volkswagen Nanospyder By the Manufacturer Designers: Patrick Faulwetter, Daniel Simon and Ian Hunter In the year 2015 the Department of Transportation mandated that vehicles are to be 100% recyclable. In addition, to keep up with the latest safety standards, the vehicles will have a lifespan of 5 years. We envision that Volkswagen would respond to this mandate by initiating a company-wide change in the manufacturing processes by adopting and adapting the latest advances in nano-technology to eventually create a vehicle that would not only meet the requirements, but exceed all expectations. The Volkswagen Nanospyder would be the cutting edge of recyclability. It woul…

LA AUTO SHOW: Volkswagen Tiguan Concept Los Angeles marks the eagerly-awaited debut of the new Volkswagen Tiguan in "concept" form. From the looks of things, if you scratch the orange-trimmed tires and the similarly-patterned leather seats, you're basically seeing what the car's going to look like when the wraps are pulled off the production version in Q1 2007. Far more conventional than the rakish Concept A that introduced some of the car's exterior (the front end) and interior design language, the Tiguan still looks to be a nice entry-ute for VW. The "baby Touareg" flavor works. Full Article/Images/Press Release

The latest incarnation of the SE-R joins the Nissan lineup in March 2007 with two exciting versions, the Sentra SE-R and the higher horsepower Sentra SE-R Spec V. …

I could have bought the one unsold Sly (dark gray) Solstice if I wanted to put a deposit down to hold it or if I wanted to do a deal tonight, but I would much rather have the GDI turbo engine GXP over the base model anyday. They have a waiting list of people so someone will probably buy it tomorrow.
