http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5411/aspena9ad.jpg Okay-looking, a bit square in front, and only necessary because Jeep screwed up by not making the ugly, boxy Commander full-size. I don't see the need for a Chrysler SUV above Pacifica-only if Imperial became a luxury marque and offered a full-lineup, and then only would I find it acceptable. Basically, it looks like it will compete with GMC Yukon and to a lesser extent, the Mercury Mountaineer.

Chrysler is debuting an Imperial concept at NAIAS. Likely to have the 6.1 Hemi and be an EWB 300. Should it be a model or a stand-alone division? No doubt this will be a ULS competitor at a substantially lower price.

Well, here's the production Jeep Compass. I'll wait for the Rallye version, as the non-Rallye has a jacked up front end: It also appears that the non-Rallye version will be fairly off-road capable with it's high ground clearence and sophisticated AWD/4x4 system: http://www.allpar.com/model/jeep/compass.html .

Take a look at these spy shots and tell me the rear just doesn't look right... http://raywert.blogspot.com/2006/01/2007-d...ild-and-un.html It could be that it was designed with a straight-edge and T-Square only. Could be that big-black plastic strip that runs the roof. Could be it looks very thin. Looks like Jeep will have the best looking cars off this new platform. Me no likey.

The information about the Caliber just keeps pouring out of the Dodge website, it's making me want the vehicle more and more. The model that I built on the website came to a total of 17,500 which is 2.5k less than the vehicles I want (Mazda 3s hatchback, Chevrolet HHR 2LT). Not a bad deal. So has anyone heard anything as far as the release dates, actual size comparisons, interior pictures?? I've heard from some people that it's actually a little smaller than the Neon which is kinda hard to believe.

Giant German carmaker Volkswagen and Detroit auto group Chrysler are joining forces to build a new minivan in the U.S., industry sources said Monday, as VW battles to arrest slumping sales in the intensely competitive American market. A contract between VW and Chrysler, which is the U.S. offshoot of transatlantic carmaker DaimlerChrysler AG is due to be formally signed at next week's Detroit motor show. A VW spokesman declined to comment. Under the deal, Chrysler is to build for VW a mini-van using Chrysler's Voyager as the basis. The new car is to hit the U.S. market in 2008. At present, VW, which is Europe's biggest carmaker, does not offer …

Chrysler employee offers set the stage as automakers scramble for a strong finish to '05. It's a good time to buy a new car if you didn't take advantage of the industry's employee-discounts-for all deals last summer. Automakers are hiking rebates again and dealers are touting special year-end sales with an advertising blitz to ratchet up December sales and boost yearly results during the final days of 2005. In Metro Detroit, select consumers can lease a sport utility vehicle for as low as $58 a month and about $1,000 down. After blistering summer sales fueled by employee-style discounts for all comers, General Motors Corp. and other a…

Ocn's post in the Charger Sales thread got me to thinking and researching. Here are my findings: Charger SE - $22.995 Advantages over 300: ABS w/brake assist AutoStick 5-speed Traction Control Stability Control 3.5l V6 300 Base - $24.200 Advantages over Charger SE: Power driver's seat  Are you kidding me? Why would you buy a base 300 over a Charger? Chrysler needs to learn how to price cars. Rather, no, they don't, because this makes the Dodge a cheaper, better-looking, better value.

Chrysler crashes limo market Stretch 300 takes on Lincoln Town Car, extended Cadillac DTS Josee Valcourt / Detroit News story Think the interior of the Chrysler 300 is cavernous? Stratus out, Avenger in at Dodge Name change may not be enough to battle Asians By Brett Clanton / The Detroit News Chrysler is expected to yank the Stratus name from its Dodge midsize sedan when the car's replacement arrives in early 2007. The new vehicle will be called Avenger, a moniker last used on a Dodge coupe that was killed off in 2000, according to sources familiar with the situation. Chrysler officials declined to confirm the name change, which comes as the DaimlerChrysler AG unit is moving to toughen up the image of Dodge cars to mesh with the bold marketing of Dodge trucks. Analysts say the car, even with a new name, will face challenge…

2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 Another spin on the definition of SRT-ness. by John Pearley Huffman (2005-12-02) If you're the type of person who looks at the day's news and forecasts nothing but doom, gloom and societal collapse for the future, the Dodge Charger SRT8 simply isn't the car for you. Not because you won't appreciate its surplus of power or the composure of its chassis but because this car is hopelessly optimistic. This car spits in the eye of "peak oil" theorists, global warming doomsayers, and every member of the Sierra Club and slurps down fuel in giddy gulps with the sort of confidence that only comes from certain knowledge that tomorrow will be bet…

STUTTGART — Spy photographs suggest DaimlerChrysler's Dodge subsidiary may be working on a hot-rod version of its forthcoming Nitro SUV, perhaps a model from the Chrysler Group's high-performance SRT brand. But Dodge executives are still evaluating the possibility of such a model and say it's too early to make a decision. A Dodge spokeswoman told Inside Line, "I can't imagine" the company would do a Nitro SRT. The base-model Nitro will come out next year as a 2007 model. Although recent reports have said the Nitro will go into production in about a year, a different Dodge spokeswoman told Inside Line that production could come sooner. She added, "I would think [the pro…

Chrysler Group needs more production space — and it’s getting it. DaimlerChrysler AG is moving to cash in on its momentum in North America to create some space between Chrysler Group and its traditional rivals - the troubled General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. The Chrysler Group is expected to announce officially today that it plans to build the production version of the Dodge Nitro concept on the same assembly line in Toledo, Ohio, now used to build the Jeep Liberty. The announcement will underscore how deft the Chrysler Group has become during the past couple of years at spinning off new variants of its most popular vehicles. While the Nitro will us…

DIANA T. KURYLKO | Automotive News Posted Date: 11/22/05 Mercedes-Benz has decided to keep the 26-year-old G-Class SUV in production after 2006 because of solid demand for the massive vehicle. The 5,545-pound G-Class, formerly named the Gelaendewagen, is based on a military vehicle. It was launched in 1979, and was scheduled to disappear in the 2007 model year, when a new full-sized SUV is launched. "We found there is still demand for it," a Mercedes-Benz USA spokesman said last week. U.S. sales totaled 1,491 units in 2004 and are running at a slightly slower pace this year. Sales through October totaled 1,088, down 8.4 percent from the year-ago period. …

WASHINGTON -- DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler unit, the third-biggest U.S. automaker, said it will recall 283,000 Dodge Ram pickup trucks that may roll away if the gear shift isn't fully placed in the "park" position. The automaker in December will notify owners of 2003-2005 models equipped with diesel engines and automatic transmissions, and will fix the vehicles by installing an alarm. Chrysler advised owners to always remove the key and insure that the vehicle is in "park". The recall was disclosed Oct. 7 in an e-mailed statement. That same day, Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Chrysler said it would recall 300,000 other vehicles, including 20…

If anyone could find the other stuff (I can't find my issue) it'd be appreciated.

September 12, 2005: 12:54 PM EDT NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Jeep unveiled two concept vehicles at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany today that, a company executive said, hint at a worldwide portfolio expansion for the off-road brand. If dropping a giant SUV from a helicopter were easy, everyone would be doing it. Chrysler's Jeep brand cooked up a plan to dangle a Commander SUV from 1,200 feet above its Chelsea proving grounds and then release it -- counting on four parachutes to ease its landing. At the same time, seven skydivers would drop from another helicopter, then pile into the SUV and drive over to a phalanx of media. The photo op was designed to announce Jeep's involvement with Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit effort to encourage Americans to send cards and packages to overseas soldiers. But one trial run went awry when a chute didn't open and the Commander suffered a hard …

And driving a 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe around Laguna Seca pretty much scares up 1,000 percent of your concentration. And to be honest, fun doesn't get any more fun than this. It's especially true that the $83,995 Viper SRT-10 can only really show off its best stuff at a track. The rest …

WASHINGTON — DaimlerChrysler AG's (DCX) Chrysler Group said Friday it would recall more than 100,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee sport utility vehicles because water contamination of the transmission fluid could lead to fires under the hood. The recall involves 2005 model year vehicles with 3.7 liter engines and automatic transmissions, the automaker said, accounting for about 45 percent of all Jeep Grand Cherokees (search) sold from that year. TORONTO (Reuters) - The Canadian Auto Workers union says it expects to go on strike over job cuts at DaimlerChrysler Canada as bargaining positions harden heading into talks on a new three-year contract. The CAW chose DaimlerChrysler Canada on Wednesday as its next target in contract negotiations with the Big Three North American automakers. It reached a deal with Ford Motor Co. on a new three-year deal earlier this week. "Based on the current position that they have tabled with us, there is absolutely no way to avoid a strike," CAW president Buzz Hargrove said at a news conference. "If I was making a prediction today, we will be on the picket line, f…

Auto company demanding that its two assembly plants become the most efficient in their classes in North America DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc. is demanding that its two assembly plants become the most efficient in their classes in North America, which would force the auto maker to slash a significant number of jobs in Windsor and Brampton, Ont., union sources say. If the company sticks to its plan to close a Toronto parts plant and outsource jobs at the other two plants, there will be a strike, Canadian Auto Workers union president Buzz Hargrove said yesterday. "Absolutely, no doubt about it," Mr. Hargrove said. The closing of the casting plant in Tor…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=107108 Dodge was noncommittal about the production prospects of the Dodge Nitro concept when it first appeared at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, but nobody was fooled. It looked ready for production and our latest spy pictures prove that the 2007 Dodge Nitro is headed for showrooms. The pictures clearly show that little has changed on the Jeep Liberty-based Nitro from its concept. There's none of the extensive chrome trim that adorned the flashy concept, but it does look as though it will keep a fairly aggressive set of wheels and tires. The Nitro's looks are also said to be derived in part from the quirky …

Well, Dodge may have the truck for you. Obviously unsatisfied with bragging rights for the most available pickup power (with the 345-hp HEMI V-8) and torque (with the 610-lb-ft Cummins Turbo Diesel six), Dodge now boasts the longest, roomiest crew-cab cabin with the most people and cargo room. And just so no one misses the point, they're callin' it "Mega" Cab. Dodge created this super-size showcase of pickup innovation by bolting its six-foot,…

Benz-sourced turbo-diesel adds new dimension to Jeep's slick new Grand Cherokee The Benz V6s form an interesting backdrop to the Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD launched in Australia this week with an all-new, Mercedes-sourced 3.0-litre V6. The Grand Cherokee’s turbo-diesel winds out an impressive 160kW (at 4000rpm) as well as the expected mountain of torque – in this case, 510Nm at a barely-spinning 1600rpm. This means it will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in a mere 9.0 seconds – half a second faster than the 4.7-litre petrol V8 version of the new Grand Cherokee. Just as importantly, the efficient oil-burner means the almost-2.2-tonne Grand Cherokee has fuel co…

And nor is it the fact that if you buy an American car, you're going to have to commit acts of love with your cousin. Hammond: So what's the problem? Clarkson: Charger. Wrong Dodge. You need a Challenger, because the Challenger was the star of Vanishing Point, and this was the star of Bullitt. That's why you're interested in it, because it was in Bullitt. Chrysler to Unveil Record Number of New Models in 2006 Date Posted 08-17-2005 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — In his first major press briefing, Chrysler Group's incoming CEO, Tom LaSorda, said the automaker will continue its momentum with the rollout of "at least" 10 completely new models in 2006. LaSorda, who takes over January 1, 2006 when current CEO Dieter Zetsche returns to Germany to become chief executive of DaimlerChrysler AG, said next year's new-model launches will surpass the record set in 2004. "That's at least 10 completely new models, not refreshed ones," he told Inside Line and other media representatives, though he wouldn't c…

What Edmunds.com Says: Dodge may have broken its promise of a Durango hybrid in the past, but this vehicle's chances of coming to fruition are looking quite good. What We Know: It was revealed toward the end of last year that DaimlerChrysler plans to go through with a production-ready Dodge Durango Hybrid by 2007. Sure, the company has promised such a truck before, but it is in a much better position to turn this into a feasible project this time around, especially given its new commitment to develop hybrid drive systems with GM. The last attempt at such a vehicle, the Durango TTR, was abandoned in 2002 after the powertrain system failed to deliver the desired fuel eco…

Despite a recent profit rebound, Chrysler will continue to cut costs to offset rising raw material and health care expenses and is not ruling out a reduction in its white-collar workforce, a top company official said Wednesday. "There's going to be no massive hiring, that's for sure," Tom LaSorda, the newly-named chief executive of Chrysler, said in a meeting with reporters at the automaker's Auburn Hills headquarters. The Auburn Hills unit of DaimlerChrysler expects to reduce some costs as white-collar employees retire and are backfilled with younger workers at lower pay grades. Some positions may be left open, but employment is expected…
