Being first matters. Today, Dodge drew a line in the sand by reintroducing the Dodge Charger as the first electrified muscle car in both sedan and coupe forms. Not just an electric vehicle, the Charger will be available as a multi-energy lineup, sporting both pure EV and gas powered options. The Charger will keep its title as the world's most powerful muscle car, starting with the all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack with 670 horsepower and a 3.3 second 0-60 time. Also available will be an electric Dodge Charger Daytona R/T with 496 horsepower. Daytona models also get a patented R-Wing pass-through to improve aerodynamic downforce. A Powershot feature …

Dodge took the wraps off a muscular new compact crossover that packs quite the sting. The 2023 Dodge Hornet will be one of the quickest and most powerful entries into the compact crossover segment with even the base model having best in class performance. Based on the same sporty platform as the Alfa-Romeo Tonale, the 2023 Hornet gets the Dodge Brother's take on what a compact crossover should be. Power The Hornet packs two powertrain options. It was supposed to be released in 2020. Now, the release date is 2021. This means it should be in the showrooms in late 2020, just a little over a year from now. It (probably) is going to be built at the Brampton, Ontario, Canada plant. That's a good thing! Canadians built my current and last car! Mum is the word. Complete silence. Any ideas as to when we will see what the next-gen Charger is going to look like inside and out? By the end of this year? As a Christmas present? I'm frustrated. When a Malibu LT with a 1.5 L (90 c.i.) start-stop turbo assisted L4 would sticker for $26K and a Charger SRT with a 292 hp very familiar Pentastar 3.5 L V6, along …

The Dodge Challenger has been enjoying a resurgence for the past couple of years, due in part to the supercharged variants known as the Hellcat and Demon. But Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley tells the Detroit News, the next-generation Challenger will be quite different. "The reality is those platforms and that technology we used does need to move on. They can’t exist as you get into the middle-2020s. New technology is going to drive a load of weight out, so we can think of the powertrains in a different way. And we can use electrification to really supplement those vehicles," said Manley. "I think that electrification will certainly be part of the formula that say…

As I scour for articles on the next version of the Charger, I can't seem to keep the timeline of what has been said in order. I'll see an article that says it will be on a version of the Alfa Romeo Giorgio platform modified and tuned for the new Charger. Then, I'll see an article with the late Marchionne saying it will be on a highly modified version of the current chassis that will perform very differently. (I interpret that as "better"). What seems to be the latest train of thought for the next Charger ... and the next Challenger? Also, do you think the next rendition will roll out in 2021 instead of 2020?

I am a little frustrated with GM's limited sedan and lack of coupe offerings. Right now, I'd probably buy a Cruze LT and call it a day. However, if I didn't get a GM car, I'd opt for a Dodge Charger with the base V6. I like my current car but I still like looking at the crystal ball ... "just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't read the menu." I looked up 2020 Dodge Charger and see this: Concept 1 Next-gen Charger front view Next-gen Charger rear view Then I see this - Concept 2 Next-gen Charger front view Next-gen Charger rear view What will it be? What's with the extreme variation? Concept 1 is provocative. The fr…

Previous Page Next Page The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is no more for 2019, but that doesn't mean it hasn't influenced the lineup. Lets begin with the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. Under its dual cowl hood is a revamped supercharged 6.2L V8 producing 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque. Power flows through an eight-speed automatic to the rear-wheels. Dodge claims the Redeye is the "most powerful production V8" and "quickest production muscle car," most likely because the Demon doesn't exist anymore. While we're still waiting on anything concerning the next-generation Charger, Dodge has gone ahead and made a number of changes to the current model for the 2019 model year. We'll begin with the base SXT and work our way to the SRT Hellcat, highlighting the various changes. SXT: All-wheel drive becomes available on the base trim, bringing with it the more powerful 3.6L Pentastar V6 (300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet). Options now include Houndstooth cloth sport seats, Caramel Nappa leather interior, updated Blacktop Package, and new Cold Weather Package. Let us wind the clock back to November 2016. We wrote a piece in the rumorpile saying that the next-generation Dodge Challenger and Charger had been pushed back to 2021. It was unclear as to why the models were being pushed back, but there was the interesting tidbit that they would be using the new Giorgio platform - what underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio. But there may be a chance that the next-generation models could use a heavily upgraded version of the current platform which can trace its roots back to the 1990s from Mercedes-Benz. "We may not necessarily have to go as far as the Giorgio architecture for Dodge as long as we are willing to commit to a s…

Last year, the final Dodge Viper rolled down the Conner Avenue assembly line. The vehicle would once again enter the history books as one of the maddest sports cars. But a new report says the Viper will be making a comeback, albeit with some major changes. Car and Driver has posted their '25 Cars Worth Waiting For: 2019–2022' piece and the Dodge Viper is on the list. The new model will retain its front-engine, rear-drive layout and spaceframe with independent suspensions front and rear. Extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber will help keep weight down. One disappointment for Viper fans is the new model not having a V10. Instead, FCA is developing a new alum…

There will soon be another police vehicle you'll need to keep an eye out for. Today, Dodge announced the Durango Pursuit which will give police departments another choice in the utility segment. Power comes from the 5.7L HEMI V8 producing 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. This comes paired with an eight-speed automatic and full-time all-wheel drive system. A two-speed transfer case should help out if a chase goes off-road. There are numerous upgrades including stronger brakes, heavy-duty oil cooler and water pump; and larger alternator. Standard equipment includes tri-zone temperature control, eight-way power adjustments for the driver, and trailer sway con…

There is also sports suspension with frequency sensing damping shocks, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and and integrated exhaust tips. It is a story we have all heard time and time again. A limited-run model is announced by an automaker and certain dealerships take advantage of this by marking up the price. Dodge had come up with a clever solution to prevent dealers from doing this with the upcoming Challenger SRT Demon by pushing their orders to the back of the line if they decide to mark up the price. But never underestimate dealers to find a way around this. Automotive News reports that various dealers are using intermediaries on eBay to auction off the right to purchase one of their allocated Demons. Last week, eBay had auctions by intermediaries that represent dealers in Louisana, South Carolin…

As the Dodge Viper drives off into the sunset, its home since 1995 will be shut down. NBC Detroit affiliate WDIV reports that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' will be closing down the Conner Avenue Assembly in Detroit at the end of August. At the moment, more than 80 people work at the plant. In a notice filed with the state of Michigan in June, FCA said it would be offering positions at other locations to those affected. Formally a plant for Champion spark plugs, FCA took it over in 1995 to produce the Viper. Connor would also be home to the Plymouth Prowler from 1997 to 2002. For the 2018 model year, Dodge will be introducing the 475 horsepower Durango SRT. Before it hits dealers later this year, Dodge has announced pricing for this high-performance crossover. For $64,090 (includes a $1,095 destination charge), you get a 6.4L HEMI V8 hooked up to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. 0-60 will only take 4.4 seconds and will reach the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds. Other performance tweaks include adaptive dampers, new springs, larger Brembo brakes, and a new body kit. Buyers will also get a day session at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona to hone their driving skills. “The ne…

Another day and another Challenger variant has been revealed. This time it is the 2018 Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. The Widebody features the wide front fenders and splitter found on the Demon. The new fenders add 3.5-inches in overall width - perfect to fit the 305/35R20-size Pirelli P Zero tires with a set of 20-inch wheels. Dodge claims the changes make the Widebody faster around a track than a standard Hellcat - about 2 seconds on a 1.7-mile road course according to testing done by Dodge. (We'll be waiting for a magazine to do a test to see how much of a difference there is. -WM). Dodge also says the Hellcat Widebody will be quicker to 60 mph and quarter-m…

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of the wildest vehicles ever to go on sale. Because of this, Dodge is having all of the buyers sign an acknowledgment form to know what they are getting themselves into. Allpar obtained a copy of the form which requires a buyer to initial 15 lines and provide a signature. A dealership employee must witness the signing and provide their own signature. The form then has to be notarized before being sent off to FCA. The document has some items that are straightforward such as the buyer assuming all risks in driving a drag vehicle, not letting passengers ride in the vehicle without having the seats installed, and reading the ow…

It goes without saying that whenever a hotly awaited vehicle comes out, some dealers will mark them up to make a bit of cash. Recently, a picture was floating around of a Honda Civic Type R with $25,000 markup. The upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is another model that is prime for a markup. But the brand is taking steps to prevent this. Today, the brand announced their plans on dealers ordering a Challenger Demon. To be eligible for ordering a demon, a dealer must have sold more than one Hellcat in the last year. From there, Dodge will calculate a dealer's allocation based on sales performance - 60 percent SRT Hellcat and 40 percent Charger and Challenger sales. …

That will get you 808 horsepower and 717 pound-feet of torque from the 6.2L supercharged V8. If you want the full monty - 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque, you'll need the optional Demon Crate which will only set you back a $1.00. (FCA says the Demon Crate's true is $6,140). The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is generating a lot of excitement and some Dodge dealers are beginning to take deposits for it. One issue though, dealers don't have information on pricing or instructions on how to order one which could mean that you might not end up with one. "Technically, no one should be taking any deposits. They can't physically take an order, and they shouldn't be taking any deposits," said Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger car brands at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to Roadshow. The reason why? Kuniskis says "we haven't given the dealers the allocation methodology, the allocation numbers or opened up the order banks yet." There is also prece…

Dodge is doing something that can be considered as sacrilegious in the muscle car class. They are adding an all-wheel drive version of the Challenger to their lineup. The 2017 Challenger GT will go on sale early next year with a base price of $34,990 (includes $1,095 destination charge). The all-wheel drive system that the Challenger will use is the same one found in the Charger AWD - power is sent to the rear wheels until slip is detected, at which point the front axle will hook up to the transfer case and get power. The bad news is that you can only get the GT with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 305 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque, and eight-speed automatic. On …

The most recent video reveals that the Demon will be 200 pounds lighter than the Hellcat. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is going to be milking the LX platform for all its worth till at least 2020. Automotive News has learned from two sources that FCA won't redesign the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, and Charger until 2021 when they will transition onto the Giorgio RWD platform. This information confirms hazy details mentioned in a contract highlighter for Unifor members in Canada. The highlighter mentions a $242 million investment into the plant at Brampton, Ontario - home of LX production - to rebuild its paint shop. Originally, the plan was to have the next-generation 300, Challenger, Charger out by 2019. Now with plans moved to 2021, FCA will be doing ano…

Last month, we learned that Dodge had some interesting plans for the Challenger . There is an all-wheel drive version that will be introduced this fall, followed up by a widebody model with the Hellcat V8 known as the ADR. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have the first photos of the ADR. Now the two vehicles photographed don't have the wider fenders installed, but the wider tires give away their identity. We can't tell how wide the tires are, but it would be safe to assume they are in the range of 315 or more. We don't know if Dodge has some other changes in store for the suspension or brakes. Motor1 says there are reports that Dodge could increase the Hellcat's out…

Back in April, we reported that the current Dodge Journey would soldier on for another two years due to a change in strategy in FCA's passenger car lineup - outsourcing production of the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. This caused plans for the next-generation Journey - due sometime this year - to be pushed back. Now, a possible new plan for the Journey has come to light. Automotive News has learned from supplier sources that FCA will shift Journey production from Mexico to Italy when the crossover is redesigned for the 2019 model year. Why Italy? Sources explain that the Journey will share the platform underpinning the Alfa Romeo Giulia, meaning a transition from front-…

2016 was supposed to be the year when the current Dodge Journey would head off into the sunset and a new version would appear, using the CUSW platform that underpins a number of FCA vehicles. But a source tells Automotive News that the current Journey will continue for a couple more years. The source explained the 2017 and 2018 Journey will retain the JC body code. In FCA's internal model nomenclature system, the vehicle's body code only changes when it is redesigned for a new platform. Why is FCA extending the lifecycle of the Journey? Redesigning the Journey would have meant production of the vehicle would have moved from Toluca, Mexico to either Sterling Height…

The Dodge Viper's future is uncertain after 2017. Allpar got their hands on the proposed UAW contract for FCA and looked at the production changes. According to the contact, the current Viper will end production in 2017 and leave the Conner Avenue assembly plant in Detroit without a vehicle to take its place. The current Viper has been languishing since its introduction in 2013 due to a combination of a high pricetag and competitors stepping up. Through September, Dodge only moved 503 Vipers, a decrease of 7.9 percent when compared to the year before. Source: Allpar View full article

The Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat has been a large success since going into production for the 2015 model year. The factory hasn't been able to keep up with the demand, so they had to put on hold on orders and increase the production of the Hellcat engines. That wasn't enough, so Dodge has announced they will be doubling production for the 2016 models. There is a downside to this announcement. Anyone who has a 2015 Challenger or Charger Hellcat on order may find out it has been cancelled. Dodge says they will finish building vehicles that are scheduled, while the remaining orders will be cancelled. Now Dodge is offering those whose order has been cancelled the …

The Dodge Hellcat models are a huge success with 4,000 Challenger and Charger Hellcat models sold out of a total of 88,000 muscle cars. "It's a small sliver of what we sell, but it really creates a halo for the rest of the lineup," said Dodge and SRT CEO Tim Kuniskis to Automotive News. It has become quite a success for the brand that Dodge is increasing production of the Hellcat engine to help reduce the "huge flood” of orders. This will be the second increase in production of the Hellcat models. "We're going to build more [Hellcats] for 2016. We stopped taking all Hellcat orders months ago so that we could catch up to that demand, and then we will launch the…

Every generation of the Viper has had a hardcore version known as the ACR which can be described as a street-legal race car thanks to a number of changes to the aerodynamics and suspension. There was question of whether or not an ACR version would appear for this generation. Well on Friday, Dodge answered this question by rolling out the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. Now before you start expecting the big news to be an huge increase in power, it isn't. The 8.4L V10 sees an increase of five horsepower to 645, while torque remains at 600. The big news is the work Dodge did to the Viper's aerodynamics. The body boasts an adjustable, twin-element, carbon-fiber rear wing; carbon-fib…

I don't know if anyone's seen this video and I'm certainly not advocating street racing but it's still pretty cool. I've decided to spend the whole week covering Dodge cars and I have to say I'm more impressed with their offerings than either of the other Big Three. Here's a link to the blog post where you can find the full video: http://blog.rvinyl.com/2015/04/22/stock-hellcat-street-races-tuned-rides-wins/

The Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat models have become a big seller for the brand. Dodge brand head Tim Kuniskis tells Automotive News they have received 9,000 orders for both models, double the amount the company was expecting to sell. This high amount of orders has caused a backlog of models needed to be produced. According to Allpar.com and confirmed by Automotive News, Dodge has temporally suspended orders for Hellcat models while they work through the backlog. “Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats,, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system,” the company said in a…

Does anyone really remember this car? I know that it is a great vehicle and was my husbands first car. However, he did mention the motor was aluminum and would warp if the car started to overheat. However, he was in love with his and always wondered if they were still around or if they were all gone./

Production of the Dodge Viper has been on hiatus since April due to poor sales. But according to Automotive News, Chrysler's Conner Avenue plant will commence Viper production once again next month. While a number of factors are in play for this decision, a big one is the massive increase in sales that the Viper has seen since the $15,000 price cut went into affect last month. Sales in September reached 108 units, an increase of 140 percent when compared to 45 units sold last September. Dodge brand head Tim Kuniskis expressed high hopes for sales in October, a time where sales decline because of the colder weather. When the plant comes back online, the only 2015 models…

Chrysler's supercharged 6.2L V8, named Hellcat, has been a sensation since it was first announced earlier this year. With 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, this engine put many sportscars and even supercars to shame. But according to Automotive News, the Hellcat may have never even happened. In early 2011, Fiat was in the process of figuring out plan for Chrysler and deciding where to spend money on product development. The Hellcat V8 was in the process of planning, but it was shelved and engineers were moved to other projects. However, engineers in SRT still dreamed about this engine making it into production, and pushed hard to bring it to life. Their effort…

With Dodge bringing back the Scat Pack packages for a number of their models, it has also brought back a dispute that dates back to 1968. Automotive News reports that Chrysler is being sued by Scat Enterprises Inc., for infringing on their 50-year-old 'Scat' trademark. The suit revives a dispute between the two companies that dates back to 1968. In 1968, Dodge started using the Scat Pack name on a number of their models. That same year, Scat Enterprises, a company that makes performance parts for a number of automakers including Dodge, sent a cease-and-desist letter to make Dodge stop using the name. Three years on, Dodge would stop using the name. Jump ahead to August…

Dodge has opened up the order books for dealers on the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat today. But not every dealer will have the chance to order one though. Automotive News reports that Dodge will base dealer allocation of Hellcats based on how many Dodge vehicles a dealer has sold within the past 180 days. That includes everything from the Dart to the Viper. A second allocation of Hellcats will follow in December and be be distributed based on the previous 90 days worth of sales. “You sell a lot of Darts for me, Journeys for me, Durangos for me, I’m going to give you the rights to this one, too, because this is a halo of the brand,” said Dodge brand head Tim Kuniskis. Dodge has announced some changes to the Viper for 2015 which include a increase to 645 horsepower, a one mile per gallon improvement on the highway, and a new GT model which gets an adjustable suspension and five-mode stability control. A few weeks back, we reported on a filing for the SAE which listed the Dodge Charger as getting the brand new supercharged 6.2L V8 engine named Hellcat which appeared in the 2015 Challenger. Well today at a event held near Detroit, Dodge revealed the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, the world's most powerful sedan. Much like the Challenger, the Charger SRT Hellcat has the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine with 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. This is paired up to a eight-speed automatic transmission which was specially designed for this engine. This gives the Charger SRT Hellcat performance figures of 3.7 seconds to hit 60 MPH (0.2 seconds slower than the Challenger SRT H…

Currently, the Challenger and Charger Hellcats are basking in the performance spotlight at Chrysler. But before these two models arrived, the model that had the spotlight was the Viper with its 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. But the Viper wants the spotlight back. Allpart has gotten two reports of supercharged V10 engines being delivered to Chrysler. Allpar speculates the supercharger will allow the Viper to sit above the 707 horsepower from the Hellcat V8 and possibly get 800. But it comes down to whether or not the current internals of the Viper can handle all of that power. Allpar notes that current transmission, the Tremec TR-6060 can handle up to 650 p…

Dodge upped the ante in the muscle car wars with the introduction of the Hellcat V8 for the Challenger. The Supercharged 6.2L V8 makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which means you'll have no trouble with burning the rear tires. But what if you want all of that power in a four-door sedan? It seems Dodge has some plans for that. Road & Track looked at the SAE J1349 certification filing for the Hellcat V8 and noted that alongside the Challenger, there is a mention of the Charger with the same engine. Road & Track reckons that the Hellcat V8 will be introduced sometime later or early next year as Dodge is finishing up work on the Charger SRT. Stay tu…

One the big mysteries that has been surrounding the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is how much power does the 6.2L supercharged Hellcat V8 engine make. We've been hearing reports of somewhere 600-plus horsepower when this engine was still a rumor, and Dodge said the engine was capable of producing more than 600 horsepower. Well Dodge has finally answered the question and its a doozy. The 6.2L supercharged Hellcat V8 engine makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. No that is not a misprint. This is most powerful muscle car on offer. This will be routed to the rear-wheels via a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that has been upgraded to handle all of the po…

For the past year, the rumormill has been churning with reports of Dodge working on a HEMI V8 engine with a supercharger that was capable of producing over 600 horsepower. This engine, codenamed 'Hellcat' would be placed in the Challenger. When the refreshed Challenger was shown at the New York Auto Show, many expected an announcement, but there was none. Was this just a rumor? One month later, Dodge has revealed the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Those rumors were very true. The SRT Hellcat features a 6.2L HEMI V8 with "over 600 hp" (Dodge said they are finalizing performance figures) which goes through a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed automatic. Whenever an automaker reveals a new model at an auto show, they tend to have a difficult time trying to sell the current model. But Dodge is going to try something new they hope will alleviate that problem. The Dodge Double-Down will offer buyers a one-year lease on a 2014 Charger and Challenger starting on April 17, the same day the brand will be showing off the new 2015 versions of the two models. After a year, a buyer can move into a three-year lease on a 2015 model of either vehicle for the same payment and no more money down. If a buyer decides to buy either 2015 model, they'll get a $1,000 incentive. “If you have your eye on a new Challenger or Charger, there’s no…

The site has learned from sources that a small group of engineers tackling whether or not it would be possible to shoehorn a V6 engine into the Dodge Dart. Why is this being tackled? Allpar figures that Dart's current engine lineup; the 1.4T MultiAir and 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder are meeting customer's expectations or are a bit sluggish. So what V6 engines are being considered? The most likely candidate is the 3.2L Pentastar V6 found in the Jeep Cherokee. Both the Cherokee and Dart share har…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 5, 2013 2013 marks an important milestone for Dodge. This year is the 45th anniversary of the legendary “Scat Pack Club” which Dodge created to unite the brand's performance vehicle enthusiasts. Little did they know the club would transform and become so much more than that. The club morphed and became a over-arching performance philosophy which in turn created the need for more power. Dodge and Mopar responded with factory-engineered performance kits that would become known as “Scat Packages.” Tonight at the 2013 SEMA show, Dodge and Mopar are bringing back the “Scat Packages” for the Dodge Charger, Challenger,…

Well, I'm not going to give a full write up or anything but I thought I'd throw a few thoughts/comments out there on my first ever new Chrysler product. I really wanted a V6/8-speed car due to my daily commute but got too good of a deal on the R/T to pass it up. Now that I have it, I'm glad I got the Hemi. Here are my thoughts: 1) It gets much better gas mileage than I expected. When I bought it, I was hoping for steady 17+ mpg since my 50 mile per day round trip commute is 44 miles of surface streets with traffic lights (albeit fairly well timed). For the 8k miles I have put on it, I'd say it has averaged closer to 19 mpg and since I just got it in October, that m…

Well, Marchionne says the production launch will be moved around for no other reason except — and we’re not making this up — “to avoid being jinxed.” Previously the Dart was on track to hit dealers on April Fools Day, April 1st. So when should you expect to be able to drive the Alfa Romeo-based small Mopar? While hopeful minds might wish for a March 31st launch date, perhaps April 2nd could be the targeted day since it is, after all, the day pro…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 19, 2012 Chevrolet offers the Tahoe PPV. Ford offers the Explorer Police Interceptor Utility. Now, Chrysler is joining in the mix with Dodge Durango Special Service. Lets get the bad news out of the way first. The Durango’s Special Service name means it's not "pursuit ready". In other words, the Durango Special Service can't handle jumping curbs and surviving a 75-mph rear-end collision unlike the Ford and Chevrolet. But that doesn't mean the Durango isn't cut out for most police (or fire) work. Chrysler fitted high-performance brakes, a heavy-duty water pump, engine oil cooler, and battery, and a 220-amp alter…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 4, 2012 A few weeks ago, a picture of what could be the new Viper showed up on the net. The picture was from a Hot Wheels poster showing their 2012 lineup. Well, there's more from Hot Wheels. A poster on the Newfoundland Motorsports forum posted two pictures of a 1/64 Viper die-cast. The diecast matches up with the teasers and spy shots that have been coming out for the past few months, especially with the hood. We'll find out if this diecast matches up with the next Viper next month. Source: Newfoundland Motorsports Forum View full article

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 20, 2012 Motor Trend is reporting that Chrysler may say farewell to the Dodge Challenger and in its place, bring back the Barracuda. Sources tell the magazine the car will ride on a new RWD platform that will be smaller and lighter than the current Challenger. Design will take cues from the Barracuda's three separate body styles from 1964 to 1974. Expect to see the new Barracuda sometime in 2014 or 2015. Source: Motor Trend View full article

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 22, 2012 This is going to be a bit of stretch, so bear that in mind. Hot Wheels showed off a poster showing off their 2012 lineup. One of those vehicles is reportedly the new 2013 Viper in diecast 1/43 scale. Squint and you can make out a long aggressive hood with a vent, gaping lower fascia, and a double-bubble roof. Is this the new Viper or is it a bunch of phooey? We will found out soon. Source: T-Hunted via Autoblog View full article

G.Noble Editor/Reporter CheersandGears.com Monday, 20th February, 2012 Just last month Chrysler's SRT division served up their first teaser image of the upcoming all-new Viper, cloaked ominously in the shadows. Well, SRT now reckon the time is right to charm the big snake into the light and give us the first glimpse of its new, shiny skin. Okay, not exactly. While the Viper has finally slithered into the light, we're still just as much in the dark as we were before. What we can tell for sure from the newest teaser SRT just released over on their Facebook page is that we're looking at a scoop that's been crafted from carbon fiber. Since it is a carbon fiber scoop on a…

If you're a fan of big Mopar muscle, then the recent talk of the return of the Viper has probably given you a big reason to be excited. If so, then this teaser shot just released moments ago over on Chrysler's SRT brand's Facebook page will probably make you estastic. This is probably about as revealing as it's going to be until the veil is drawn back on Chrysler's V-10 powered supercar this April at the New York Auto Show. What we can tell for sure from this image is that the new Viper will probably have much of the same intimidating persona as the previous car. The headlamps will be lined with LEDs and there's a new Viper badge to feast your eyes upon. What will help …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 31, 2012 The Dodge Dart has been getting rave reviews since being shown earlier this month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Since then, rumors of an SRT version of the Dart have been floating around and Motor Trend has put together some information for this possible model. Powertrain wise, the Dart SRT4 could use a turbocharged version of the Tigershark 2.0-liter four-cylinder or Alfa Romeo's upcoming all-aluminum 1.8L turbo-4. Horsepower rating for the Dart should be over the Caliber SRT4's 285 HP. A upgraded six-speed dual-clutch transmission from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Cloverleaf …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 13, 2012 Chrysler could be canning the Dodge Avenger within the next few years. In a interview with Reuters, Reid Bigland, head of the Dodge brand said the company could cut one of their midsize sedans. "Chrysler Group will likely consolidate around one midsize car in the future," said Bigland. Both the 200 and Avenger saw their sales grow last year (87,033 and 64,023 respectively) thanks to improved drivetrain options and new interiors. However, the two still lag far behind their competition. By dropping one of their models, Chrysler can reduce the costs in marketing and development while dropping the risk o…

Perhaps one of the more anticipated production-related debuts this auto show seaon is none other than Chrysler's new Dodge Caliber replacement, the Dart. For the longest time, we've been hearing about a new car that would be replacing the dreadful Dodge Caliber. Today, Dodge revealed the replacement. Meet the 2013 Dodge Dart, which will make it's debut next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Previously, the car was known as the Hornet till Dodge announced last month the name wouldn't be used. The Dart will be the first Chrysler vehicle using a Fiat vehicle architecture; the Alfa Romeo Giulietta in this case. The Giulietta's platform has been widened and lengthened for the Dart. Dodge says high-strength steel and independent suspension will make the car more fun to drive than its predecessors.…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 5, 2012 Fiat has increased their ownership in Chrysler to 58.5% after the Dodge Dart in achieved 40 mpg in preliminary testing. The mpg goal was the last of three “performance benchmarks” set by the U.S. Treasury when Fiat bought 20% of Chrysler in July 2009. In January 2011, Fiat increased their stake into Chrysler to 25% when they announced they would be building the 1.4L MultiAir engine in Dundee, Michigan. In July, the stake was increased to 30% when Chrysler recorded $1.5 billion in revenues from countries outside North America, and agreed to sell Chrysler products in Brazil and Europe. The final benchm…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com December 26, 2011 On Christmas Eve, Chrysler made the announcement that production of the Dodge Caliber has ended to make way for the new Dart. Introduced back in 2006, the Caliber would replace the long running Neon. But the Caliber got a lot of negative press due to lack-luster driving dynamics and a cheap plastic interior. The Caliber's replacement, Dart will makes it's first appearance at next month's Detroit Auto Show. Analysts believe the Dart will be more successful than the Caliber.
