As most may have noticed GM has a very wimpy horn for their big trucks in the Silverado/Sierra class. I am looking to put in an new horn in replace of the old. I do not really want to worry about a big rig horn with all the compressor and mounting junk so just a quick replacement for a louder/deeper horn would be great. ANY SUGGESTION???

2000 GMC Sierra Stepside Z71 thinking of putting on a lift kit probably nothing more then 2/3" (would like to still get into garages and drive-thrus) But I am not sure If i should get a suspension lift kit (and all that comes with it) or a body lift kit. What is easier? What will cause more headach in the end? I know the price difference but are there things about a lift kit that most do not pay attention to (ex. driveshaft, axelwrap, etc.)????

I love the GMT-900s but I hate the Yukon's front end... it looks like a smily face. Trucks should be more agressive. Has anyone tried photoshopping the Sierras front ends or even just the headlights onto the new Yukon? I think it would be sweet.

Went to the TEXAS state fair today...and saw all the new trucks (except for the HDs). The leather compares to the leather in my wife's old BMW. It was truly incredible to see that kind of material quality in a pickup. Everything else looked good about those trucks, but the leather was amazing....

Does anyone have any information about whether the duramax will be offered in the Yukon XL / Suburban? I always heard the last generation couldn't accomodate the Allison Transmission, and GM wouldn't put any other trans behind the Duramax... but haven't heard if, with the new models, GM was going to offer the D-Max for the Yukon 2500.

Here are some pictures of the GMC Sierra SLE from the Barrie Auto Show in Ontario, taken today by Polish_Kris. Im lurking in the backround of the front end shot. The truck looks good in person, if a bit boring. The work truck dash is very nice from what I could see. It was locked.

here DETROIT — General Motors' GMC brand will roll out its first minivan in model-year 2009, according to sources close to the product. Based on the automaker's Lambda architecture, the as-yet-unnamed minivan will be a sibling to the next-generation Chevrolet Uplander as well as a companion to the upcoming GMC Acadia crossover vehicle, Detroit-area suppliers familiar with the company's plans told Inside Line. While the Acadia is aimed at upscale SUV buyers, including empty nesters and affluent younger couples, the GMC minivan will be targeted more at families. To some extent, it will help fill the void left by the discontinued Safari "midi" van. GM hasn't officially a…

GMC: Crossing over this fall Automotive News / August 21, 2006 - 6:00 am Acadia: GMC adds a mid-sized crossover called the Acadia for the 2007 model year, built on General Motors' new front-wheel-drive Lambda architecture. The Acadia will be GMC's first crossover and will hit dealerships this fall, soon after Saturn launches its new crossover, the Outlook. The vehicles share the same architecture. The Acadia has three rows of seats and can seat up to eight people. It will be powered by a 3.6-liter, V-6 engine capable of 267 hp. Small crossover: GMC will not get a small crossover. Such a vehicle had been penciled in for the 2009 model year, developed on a shortened …

I'm curious, and maybe someone can enlighten me. What killed the Envoy XUV concept, yet the Avalanche and Escalade are doing well! I would think that a mid-size multi-function truck would have solved many needs in the marketplace. Was is overpriced? Did it not perform its multi-tasks well? Did it have any mechanical or functional problems? In that vein, many people have asked for the Nomad concept vehicle..... and GM continues to ignore them, yet it has built 3 iterations of the concept, since the '55-'57 Nomads. It even built a Nomad van for a while, and then discontinued it. Why? Do multi-function vehicles compromise too much? Why hasn't a Colorado-sized version…

TCC Test: 2007 GMC Yukon Denali If you aren't put off by the price or the fuel economy and need something in a full-size SUV with all the comforts of Bill Gates' home, the Denali is your truck. But as fewer customers are willing to clear those hurdles, the day may not be far off that Smithsonian starts clearing a spot next to its locomotive in the museum for vehicles like these. So I'm confused. How big exactly is this Acadia? I mean I guess I kinda know as I saw the Enclave at the Chicago Auto show, but they are calling it a crossover??? Seems to be big enough and have the amenities to just be another SUV. Besides that, is this going to be replacing/phasing out the Envoy or selling alongside it? If it is replacing the Envoy(and Rainer with the Enclave), then what is Chevy going to do about the trailblazer? We've only heard of the 3 vehicles(GMC, Saturn, Buick). My wife has a 2003 Envoy now and she loves it, just wondering what her next SUV/Crossover will be now as she will only buy GM. Someone please clarify this for me.

Canadian Driver: August 8, 2006 Feature: GM reveals new 2007 Silverado and Sierra Among domestic manufacturers, trucks are big business: they are General Motors' highest-volume product, and the profits they generate are going to be considered a large part of the company's plan to revive its flagging fortunes. So it's no surprise that the company made an event out of revealing the new generation of its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, which debut as 2007 models. It all happened at the company's massive proving grounds in Milford, Michigan, where media, dealers and a select group of truck owners from across Canada and the U.S. were assembled in the scorching Augus…

Hello all, I'm a newbie to this site, contemplating a return to the GM fold after an abscence of 15 years. I have a question regarding the reliability of the cylinder shutdown system on the 5.3L engine. I had a really horrible experience with a Cadillac Eldorado with the old V-8-6-4 system, and I'm scared to death of the thought of another similar deal. But wifey wants an Envoy Denali. So, the question is, what are ya'll experiencing? Can it be decativated electronically by means of a chip or some other device? Any real world experience and/or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks so much ya'll....

Was in the Phoenix area this past weekend and while driving down the highway I spotted (or should I say, was passed by) a GMC Acadia. Tried taking a couple pics, but as you can see they didn't come out very good. I would've gotten some better ones but the woman was getting crabby about it. He was running a constant 80mph then turned around as we got back into the edge of town.

The NAV radio with Rear Ent is still holding up orders, so I was able to get one with the Voice Rec. NAV and NO rear ent. system. I'll have to add the read DVD later. This machine is awesome. I love the 6.2L engine and the 6 speed tranny. Only have 130 miles on it so far. Seems much more responsive than the old 5.3 in my (traded in) Avalanche. The computer claims I am getting 14.2 MPG so far. I can't complain about that.

My Dad has been ready to replace a 2000 F-150 that was worn-out. My parents have been long-time, loyal Ford buyers...I have worked for a Ford deale since 1992. Their first consideration was Expedition and F-150 Super-Crew. Mom currently drives (and LOVES) her 2002 Explorer. Dad was very interested in the Nissan Armada, and some of his co-workers suggested a Ridgeline. So he looked, drove, and then took Mom along to test drive again. And again. Mom & Dad's thoughts: Expedition and F-150 - good reputation and good $$ deal with my family plan pricing, but looks are a bit too bland. Performance feels weak. Armada - very impressive overall, great seats, ni…

GMC is primarily a truck brand. However, why not make it live up to the name General Motors Commercial. 1)GMC should not be availible for non-commercial costumers. GMCs would be sold wholesale to its commercial costumers.Saturn would take on selling non-commercial costumer models. 2)GMC would have two versions of every major type of GM vehicle sold in the US, the 2 types are Basic(Entry)& Denali(luxury). 3)This would liberate GM's 5 main brands from official fleet sales. Any fleet buyer would get the same cars as other costumers. Only personal changes to product may be made for disabilties, etc. 4)Pontiac & Buick would no longer need to worry about s…

2007 Yukon is a leap forward in styling and content By Paul & Anita Lienert The redesigned 2007 GMC Yukon got plenty of advance publicity months before it went on sale in February, as much for General Motors' questionable timing as for the full-size utility vehicle's extensive makeover. Critics have questioned why GM focused so much of its development budget on big trucks and SUVs at a time of stratospheric fuel prices and increasing foreign competition in passenger cars. But the Yukon and its siblings, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade, were pretty long in the tooth and desperately in need of a major overhaul. In any context, the '07 Yukon is a huge step…

I got my April issue of C&D yesterday, and they had a short review of the Denali. For the most part, they liked it a lot. They said the new 6-speed was almost always very smooth and was happy to downshift two or three ratios. They attained 20 MPG on the highway over some streches, even at near 80MPH. They averaged 12MPG throughout the test. They love the Autoride and said it feels "impossibly solid and composed and, at the same time, comfortably compliant." Performance was really surprising to me, considering that GM says the Escalade does 0-60 in 6.8s and C&D got 6.2 in the Denali. The 1/4 mile was also surprising: 15.0s at 94MPH. That's faster than a V8…

Aparently on the new GMT900s if you opt for the Navigation radio you only get a single slot DVD/CD player. No CD changer available like the previous models. This stinks! When you have the Nav CD in the player, you have no option to play music CDs. This seems like a typical GM oversight to me. Even the Caddy does not offer a CD changer. You get one extra slot for 1 more disc. Better, but still not adequate. Comments?

Bonus commercial item: I just saw a coolant commercial...of course can't remember the name because it was so blatantly sexy and I was distracted. Anyone here know if the GMC Canyon (and Colorado) are scheduled for an update for 2007? I know some of our insiders have seen the new models coming out over the next 30 months, and I was wondering if the Canyon was getting an exterior and maybe an interior upgrade. I'm hoping for something that makes it more differentiated from the Colorado this time. Something like this: 2003 SEMA Show - GMC Canyon AT4 Also, does anyone know if a performance version (a'la Syclone) is in the works too? I'd love to find out GMC is bringing out a sport-performance Canyon, even if they had to call it Canyon Denali I'd still be happy. TIA for teh info!! :)

All Cars Central Obituaries: The 2005 GMC Envoy XUV Born: 2003 Died: Not Soon Enough! Well, it seems that the General Motors section has gone un-noticed for the last few weeks. That is primarily due to the lack of exciting news from our friends at General Motors since the mid-grade debut of the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne doublemint twins at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. The lack of posts in each respective article shows that GM is really stirring up excitement with us here at All Cars Central. However, if you jump over to GM, for obvious reasons, they are toasting the DTS and the Lucerne as the best thing since power windows and safety glass. Incidentally, both po…
