This years elections seem to hold much more weight this year than in previous elections. We're at a time where Imagration Reform & such is high on our congressmen and womens plates. Factor in Governer elections and it's going to be a busy year! I may actually have to vote Republican for Governer here in Michigan. Dick Devos has a message I like.

Alright let's try something new. We start off with a picture. When you view the photo/drawing/whatever you post the first thing that comes to mind... So for instance if the last post was a picture of the Canadian Flag and you think "Bryan Adams" then type Bryan Adams and post a new picture. It can be related to the last photo or phraze but it does not have to be. Like you could post a Hockey Stick as it relates to the Canadian Flag but you could also post Ghandi just for the sheer randomness of it. I'll start us off: Scion Xb and now my pic for the next person:

Out for a Sunday drive w/ my family today, I saw this Catalina (67, 68?) parked on a lawn: Is this some home-style hackjob, or a Canada-only version, or what? Notice the parting line around the door, and the joint where the window frame angles forward- def. looks hand-made. (Just realized the pics are kinda crappy, sorry.) Doesn't look like a pickup bed, it looks like some kind of trunklid is still present. Just strange, never seen one like that before. FWIW

How in high school you had the biggest crush on a girl. Would do anything for her just to see her smile, or would do anything for her just to make her day. Then, you go years without talking. And you meet up at a bowling alley, exchange #'s and she's blowing your phone up 24/7? Damn, I love the feeling.

I've been saying I'd get these uploaded since I joined the site in 2004. Well here they are: several videos of how I occasionally abuse my poor Camaro. The car is tough as nails, unrestored, pretty rough cosmetically and pretty much all of the mechanical hardware is factory save for the crate motor. Enjoy.... & let's see your own shenanigans too! * these are all only 15 sec. quicktime movies with no sound. They were taken with my ancient Nikon digital camera. This footage was taken at the same place where I did my burnout photo that got published in Car Craft. As a matter of fact this was only about 2 months after that photo was taken. July of 2004 or …

The paper work will be filed early in the week. After that he has 7 days to change his mind if he does not change his mind he is locked in and can't go back. Then once that is done, anytime between the 7th day to the end of the year they can then let him go. Taking the $35k buy out, full pension, full health.

If you caught on right away... my dog Lucky died. He's been struggling for the past few days and he finally couldn't hold on any longer. You know... I'm mixed, as far as emotions. I'm devastated that he's gone, yet I'm angry. Mostly at my parents for only contributing to his death. They refused to take him to a vet saying that they couldn't afford it. I mean... what if it were me? Would they not be able to afford it then, either? Come on... He was my dog and I loved him. Wasn't that enough? They said this for a long, long time saying that there was nothing to be done and that he couldn't be saved. That was over 5 f@#king months ago. What's their excuse. I just wish I had …

Alright... want to do me a favor? I want you to listen to this one song and give me your opinion on it. It's "I won't see you tonight, Part 1" by Avenged Sevenfold. Do it however you can. Here's a link to MSN Music if you want to do it that way: MSN: A7X: Song #9 It might cost money. Anyways, this is because I absolutely love this song. It's the best rock song I've heard since Guns N Roses' time. It also happens that all of A7X's music is some the best rock I've heard since their time with beautifully written music. The only downfall may be the lyrics. They're not for everybody. If you can't tell by the name of the band, they're somewhat Punk/Goth... especially on "Waki…

Since I've rehooked up my stereo surround sound I've been on a movie trip. I did go rent two movies that I have never seen, that being "Waiting" featuring my favorite actor Ryan Reynolds. Then, naturally I had to get a Nick Cage movie which was "God Of War" Now, I'm about 3o minutes into Team America World Police which I just love this movie about as much as Van Wilder. Any movies you absolutely must watch when you sit down to catch a movie, or do you ever find yourself going on "movie binges" of one after another after another?

I'm a huge fan of local music and supporting it. Perhaps it's because I come from MoTown, The Motor City, etc and this state (metro-Detroit really) is so rich with hot music and promising bands that I can't help but appreciate the smaller (for now) guys. Obviously everybody knows how I feel about JoCaine & 75 North whom I feel will be mega stars before the end of' 06 if not before the end of summer '06. They've had their music featured on CSI and in several movies. Jocaine & 75 North But, there's also a band the "Paper Street Saints." These guys rip it too. Ok, so I rarely use my card, no real need to, cash gets things paid off immediately, but on Monday I had a work related meeting ( a whole different story) and had to dress professionally, so I went to the mall and bought $100 in new clothes so I could make the meeting on time, dressed decently. Tuesday comes around and I'm running low on gas, so I pull up to the pump, slide the card (I had used the last of the cash in my pocket on Chinese food) and it gets declined. So I check my online statement and it says that due to "high risk" activity, my card has a block on it. Today I finally got around to calling, apparently that $100 (which came nowhere close to putting me ov…

Chevy Mulling 4-Cylinder 'Vette April 1, 2006 | CheersandGears.com In an attempt to lure environmentally-conscious consumers to the Corvette line, Chevy will unveil a 4-cylinder variant of it's iconic sportscar. Debuting at the New York International Auto Show this month, the entry-level 'Vette will feature a 1.6-liter inline-four producing the same 103 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque as in the Aveo. Arriving on the heels of the foolishly inefficient Z06, 4-cylinder models will achieve EPA ratings in the mid thirties. Likely dubbed Corvette LS, buyers will choose from either a standard 4-speed automatic or a sportier 5-speed manual. While pricing has yet to be re…

WASHINGTON - A huge federal study in people — not rats — takes the fizz out of arguments that the diet soda sweetener aspartame might raise the risk of cancer. No increased risk was seen even among people who gulped down many artificially sweetened drinks a day, said researchers who studied the diets of more than half a million older Americans. A consumer group praised the study, done by reputable researchers independent of any funding or ties to industry groups. "It goes a fair way toward allaying concerns about aspartame," said Michael Jacobson, head of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, which had urged the government to review the sweetener's safety afte…

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/...pes_comparison/ It was a pretty fair comparison I think. Both are hella powerful, the GTO is a bit farter to 60 since it's lighter, but the Charger handles better, and is easier to get the power out. Goat is cheaper but the Charger has more standard equipment and performance mods. GTO has a nicer interior design, but the Charger is roomier, more practicle, and has things the Goat doesn't. Charger loooks badass...th GTO doesn't. "The Charger is the obvious choice--the best musclecar for the job. Doesn't apply to nav radios, but plain jane ones. I always find writing English on the buttons was rather stupid, especially when they want to go global. I much prefer the ones we have up here in Canada, where we replace all English with icons. Also troublesome is that last time I saw a nice six disc changer unit for cheap, but I couldn't get it because all the buttons were different, and if I install it, it would look odd. Why don't they just make one radio with different firmware for metric and imperial units, and bother with the buttons?? Waste of development costs if you ask me.

I'm guessing probably not. In one of my psychology classes, we had a discussion on death yesterday, and took a quiz about how much we think/worry about death. The average is a 3 or 4, out of 15. A few hypotheses: Sixty8: Don't want to give away too many details, but for a guy whose weekend hobbies include crashing cars into things, I assure you that it'll be the stuff of legend. by Guest YellowJacket894- 7 replies

If anyone here bothered to picked up Tool's 2001/2002 release "Lateralus" and listen to track 13, "Faaip De Oiad," you may already have heard the major bulletpoint of this radio phone call. For those that haven't heard about this at all, read on and afterwards, click the link. In 1997 -- hell if I know the day and month -- Art Bell told listeners to call in and spill the beans on Area 51, if, in fact, there is something there at all to spill the beans about. Well, ol' Art may have gotten more than he bargained for... When listening to this mp3 file, try your best to hold all judgement back to the very end of the file has been played. This guy, for God's sake, is cryin…

There are a few people stepping over some boundaries. Even at 1024x768, which I feel is pretty reasonable, there are some sigs which give me horizontal scrollbars. I have no problem when you guys post big pictures that do this, but when it's the signature, it does it to every damn thread... Let's try to keep sigs under 750 px wide, shall we?

Riots In France
by Guest Josh- 10 replies

Obviously unless you've been living under a rock you are well aware of the riots going on in Paris, France due to a new law being passed. It would allow companies to fire young workers for no reason at all. It's clear to see the global economy is set to wreak havoc on people 18-30 over the next two to three years as more countries pass such laws.

Pop quiz... 1) You come upon a toll booth. The lane is marked SunPass/exact change and there is no 'booth,' merely a basket for change, 25 cents to be exact. You... a) Stop, toss in correct change, proceed. b) Drive at reduced speed, listen to your transponder beep, proceed. c) Stop, toss in a dollar bill. Wait. When gate doesn't open, toss, in another dollar bill. Wait. When gate still doesn't open, honk furiously and yell for an attendant. When attendant walks up and points out its exact change only, returns your dollar bill, keeps one, and returns 75 cents (depositing the toll in the basket), you argue with him about why he only gave you back $1.75. 2) You come up…

For Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering & Management Institute). I can't wait. GM, Ford, and DCX will be there along with other companies you've probably never heard of. See the list HERE. I'm bringing plenty of resumes and reference sheets along with two photoshops (original versus rendered images on each). One to show my creativity and ideas, the other to show my ability to work as a part of a team to accomplish a goal (Doane knows what's up). So.. wish me luck!

I figured that with all the bickering around here, we should have a good thread about each other too. Name all those you respect MOST around here. Remember, if you're not listed, it's not because we don't like you.. but you're just not the MOST respected out there. First and foremost, ocnblu, aka oblu. He's always been there to add the "father" tone for me around here and always has my back. He can turn a bad thread good and a worse thread raunchy. Ocnblu, this one's for you. blackviper. Cory. You're 17 (right?) and growing up in a setting where you're very binded up and not able to function to your fullest because of it. For this, and getting through it (and by keep…

Just wanted to give a quick intro... my name's Chris, i'm 18 years old and live in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. My friend Silvester (Sixty8Panther?) told me about this site, and even though I no longer wear a bowtie (well....arrow head?), I'm still a fan of the GM muscle cars and ALL American cars... I drive a 96 Cobra, but I'm trying to sell it. (I'll have to fill ya in on that one, Silvester...) Once I get rid of the Cobra, I'm gonna see about getting a fox body Mustang (87-93). I prefer older cars for many reasons. I personally find them to be more comfortable, even if they arent as luxurious as newer cars, they're easier to work on (sooo much easier), and IMO less stuf…

C&D needs to hire some new editors; this blurb from the "news" section is just terrible: Awesomeness? And something tells me they wouldn't have said the same about a Toyota being shot behind the barn.

Back in college an ex-roommate of my boyfriends named Wilfredo was smoking something that I think he called "dogga". It's legal. However, I can't seem to find it on a search engine. Probably because I'm spelling it wrong. Does anyone know what this is, or how to spell it? Much appreciated! (drop me an IM if you have any specific info on it) k thx

You might be from Long Island if: You live in the shadow of the greatest city in the world, but you almost never go there. When you're away from Long Island, you love it and when you're there, you don't. You think if you're not from Long Island or NYC, you're not really from New York. You know the exact point at which Queens turns into Nassau simply on intuition. You don't go to Manhattan, you go to "The City". You never realize you have an accent till you leave. Everything north of the Bronx is "upstate." New Jersey sucks. At some point in your life you've gone clamming. Either your parents or your grandparents lived in the city. …

A lot of us car enthusiasts remember the answer to that bit of trivia relating to the longest-ever production hood on an automobile... '70-'72 Monte Carlo, right? 6 feet long? Today I went lot-cruising and noticed a Yaris hatch at the local 'yota dealer, so I swung in for a look. The hood is like 2 feet long, no lie. I'm serious. Shorter than most minivans. Odd thing is, I kinda like the little puppydog. In blue with tinted windows, rims and slightly lowered suspension, this little thing could actually be cool, while returning close to 40 mpg. Driving a slow car fast is always fun. One of these with the mods I list above could save so much dough for a couple of y…

So yesterday was another ho-hum sunny, 75 degree day, then last night came and brought with it the evil storm clouds. I was at my girlfriend's house, which was right in the path of the strom, about two blocks away a tornado dropped, threw some loose stuff around, downed some power lines, ripped off some shingles from a few roofs, nothing too damaging, the worst damage was done by baseball (according to the weatherman it even got to be cell phone sized ) hail. We had nothing, no hail, just some rain and enough wind to throw up some loose grass and make my car really dirty. At least I thought that was the worst of it, I found out that really wasn't the worst. About fou…

If, in your life, there is ever a time when you are in a hurry, in the second story of a house with old, worn out carpet on the stairs, and you feel the need to apply your haste to the speed that you walk down the stairs... don't. Pace yourself and be careful. Otherwise, you may slip and fall. Then, you'd end up with a sore ass, right leg, left arm, and chest. It won't be pleasant. I'm warning you, it won't. You may shake it off, shortly after it happens as you get up and continue doing what you were doing, but the pain/soreness will increase as time goes on. As you wake up the next day, you will wish you had not been in such a hurry for such a silly reason. You say "I ca…

Losing Another Pet

I left my house yesterday with the intentions of enjoying a weekend with fellow Solstice owners in Canton, Ohio. I arrived on the scene, meeted and greated with the 20+ Solstice owners that were in attendance at Poncho's Southwestern in Canton and headed back to the hotel. Luckily, there is a night club/bar connected to the hotel that was open. I walk in, and naturally the first bartender to capture my attention gets the duty of serving me Bud Lights all evening. Upon sitting there and chatting I found out that Erin (such a CUTIE!) is 21 and goes to school, etc. Then for some reason pets came up. We talked about them and how long we've had 'em. My cat Tucky we got f…

So this is the deal, I was going to get a Camaro or Trans Am, but it's apparently out of the question because the insurance is way too high. Basically, this was a kick in the balls because that's all I ever focused on and never looked into any other cars. I really like muscle cars, but unfortunately the insurance is too high and the only ones available in my price range are Camaro, Firebird, and Mustang, but of course I would never buy a piece of garbage Mustang. I need help trying to find a GM used car that comes with a V8 and has decent performance for under $20,000. I was thinking maybe a Monte Carlo SS or a Pontiac Grand Prix, but both are hard to find with a V8. …

As I was reading about the death of the Park Ave, it got me to wonder what to do with my beater. Its been a good car. The engine and trans run strong (really shows on its good days) It just seems to have fuel issues. It has no pickup, idles quite rough, pretty bad milage(which could be fixed) Parts looking to be replaced: Fuel leak-tiny-right between back tires. Looks like a gas tank replacement.... As above, looks like a new EGR.... And a new hose connect to the rad...... She's rusty, but not too bad (bottom of doors, rocker panels, bottom of hatch) 13 midwesterm winters will do that to a car... If I do it, I can get help to cut the labor costs dow…

I've been to Pensacola FL many times. I like to go in the shoulder season and mid-week when it's still warm and not too crowded. I may be getting a free ticket on Southwest. Since I have no other vices and I'm cheap, this is the only area where I spend money. I'm looking at their route map and it looks like I could get fairly close to South Padre Island, TX. Not at ALL interested in going when college students are around, so I will pick another quieter time. After all, it's for R & R. Anybody been? Is it nice? Clean, warm water? Good food? What's there to do?

I guess the engineers nowadays are really up to something. If you look under the hood of the Civic, you'd notice there is absolutely NO space for any kind of work. This leads to strange engine layouts The other day when me and my friends were holding a car wash fest, the guy with a Civic Si was changing his headlight bulbs to the white ones. Interesting enough, you have to take out the whole coolant tank to reach the bulbs. I accidently picked it up, and coolant was leaking from it. I started hearing cursing and foul language. In short, you had to unlatch the battery, and remove the coolant tank for you to get to the bulbs. Car engineers these days... Or should I …

OK, this is not a discussion thread, just a poll. Don't vote FWD or RWD if you might consider the other configuration in a NEW car. Used car purchases don't count.

No high speed internet for me. Verizon hasn't upgraded the lines here yet -so that's out. So I call Comcast, which is like saying I called China, you end up talking with a bazillion people who don't talk to each other just to get a rough idea of what it takes to get service. So they send this guy out to "survey" the job - I hear nothing for days. Today, I get a letter via snail mail to tell me that these criminals want $875.00 just to run a few hundred feet of cable to my house! Then, they expect me to pay them at least another $50.00 per month for as long as I want service! Can you say "BITE ME"?
