Well, I was looking into a Cobalt and quite interested in buying one but I mentioned to the Sales lady (Melanee) that I liked the Colorado. Well, that was it! She said that I should try one to see how much I liked it. Well, all I can say is that It's in my condo stall right now. I tested a LS without the Z71 pkg, and the truck that I bought. I ended up buying a Cherry Red Z71 LS crew cab 4x4 with power sunroof and what-not. It is quite the ride. It is a great leap back into the GM fold. I just hope that it is as strong as it feels. The 3.5 that everyone says is not powerful enough seems quite competent to me. Not that much difference than the 4L toyota engine even thoug…

All right, I threw this idea at Fly this morning as to whether or not there should be a "how-to" sub-forum in the Tech Section thread for all of us who do our own repair work, or those of us that would like to get started, but are unsure of what to do. Its just an idea, but I'd like to get some real feedback on this one because I would love to be able to post repair proceedures and pictures and stuff like that so's I can help out my fellow C&G'ers when it comes to repairs and in general fixin' stuff.

Japan Mulls Legality of N. Korea Strike By MARI YAMAGUCHI AP TOKYO (AP) - Japan said Monday it was considering whether a pre-emptive strike on the North's missile bases would violate its constitution, signaling a hardening stance ahead of a possible U.N. Security Council vote on Tokyo's proposal for sanctions against the regime. Japan was badly rattled by North Korea's missile tests last week, and several government officials openly discussed whether the country ought to take steps to better defend itself, including setting up the legal framework to allow Tokyo to launch a pre-emptive strike against Northern missile sites. "If we accept that there is no other option …

So for whatever reason I was daydreaming the other day and started wondering what gives certain cars their distinctive exhaust note. Is it the muffler only or the engine, or all sorts of things? Now before I get flamed terribly, I have installed and/or have been around cars with full turbo-back exhaust systems, cat-back systems, and just universal mufflers on them. I see how they completely change the exhaust note. But the muffler from a V8 car put on a 4-cyl, isn't alone going to make the 4cyl sound like that V8. So the engine has to be a part of it as well as the pipe diameter. Take for instance Pontiac...there is a distinctive sound that a Pontiac makes(thinki…

Well, I just got back from seeing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Its a 2h-45m long movie although it doesn't feel like it in the least. I loved the movie, it was a whole lot darker than the first, which I liked and it was far funnier. The biggest thign that I saw was that the Transformer's movie was one of the previews that strung along. I got a kick out of seeing it and whispered to my wife "we'll be seeing that". So has anyone else seen the movie?

I was looking at McDonald's spread across the globe, and noticed this rather strange statement in the article: "No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's" Strange coincidence, but why would they say this? Also their choice of when and where to expand seems rather odd. Countries to get McDonalds first: 1. US 2. Canada 3. Costa Rica 4. Japan The UK even was way down the list...

I'm wondering who else out there (besides myself and OCCarNut) find windshield wipers, wipe pattern, and articulation a kind of "style" on a car, or do they mean absolutely nothing to you? I hate getting into a new car and it has an absolutely BORING wiper system. My new C6 is an example. My C4 I used to have had the wipers that parked in the middle and swung out to opposing ends. That just simply looked COOL. In fact, those are one of my favorite wipers......those that swing out from the center (early-gen W-bodies, GM and Chrysler minivans, new Civic, old Corvette, old 220-class Mercedes, etc.) #1 for me, though, has to be old Mercedes wipers that both parked on…

empowah made a comment about Chevyguy2001's spotless interior, and that reminded me of how I have to make sure the used cars' interiors are basically spotless too, and I thought some people might like to know how to remove scuff marks. If you have scuff marks from hitting the door with your feet (or from anything anywhere) and it won't come off with normal soap and water, simply take a rag, apply a little bit of paint thinner to a small part of it, and rub on the scuff mark. It should come off after just a little bit of rubbing. When you are rubbing, make sure you don't rub too hard or for a very long amount of time or it may take the paint off the door panel or area yo…

Back when I was a kid, I thought it was cool and liked it. But since now I drive on my own, it's not that great of an idea actually if you think about it. When you're waiting in line, you're using your own gas when you keep your engine idle. And at busy hours, it can take long. Not to mention the greenhouse gas that you emit into the environment while you idle (Unless, of course, you're driving an EV1). With gas prices these days, I can imagine how much money I waste from idling in a drive-thru line. Also, another problem I figured is, if they gave you the wrong stuff or something's missing in your bag, you would have to run back and ask them. Double the worse, if you…

If y'all wouldn't mind I'm going to post a little excerpt on here for your reading pleasure. I've really love some feedback. "Recognition Of The GM Name"

"Recognition of the GM Name" By: Jerry Friedman Looking at a towering sign reaching for the sky at a local Chevy dealer, I realized something. Something we've all known for a long time now: the GM badges glued to the lower fenders and doors of every Chevy since 2006 are simply a waste of a few dollars that could've been spent elsewhere on the car. But it wasn't until I glanced up at that sign and studied the GM logo I finally began to understand why that one little blemish was such a stupid, oafish move. GM claimed back in '05 that they felt that the GM name didn't get much recognition from the public and the buyer. Period. So, in order to make themselves feel a littl…

Argh...is it just me, or does technology sometimes seem like a step backward? I don't know how many hours of my life I have wasted waiting/trying to get things to print here and at college. Hey, PB: How's your new job looking thus far? God, that first day or two until you get the lay of the land is so weird. We've gone through bizarre changes at work in the last 2 months...probably more complex than what needs to be put on the site. However, it has all meant MORE work for me (bleh), so now I am constantly behind and playing catch up. There just aren't enough people around with a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience to manage projects in the area. I miss a 40 hour work week. So, report back, bud.

Not that I'd ever try to out run a State Trooper since a radio is quicker than any car but a Charger Statie is much more intimidating than a Crown Vic wiht a 4.6 Mod motor. Ford needs to redesign the Crown Vic. Keep it BOF, RWD & V8 obviously but put in the 5.4 so it does 0-60 in less than like 8 sec. otherwise these Dodges will eat up a good portion of the Interceptor Ford's sales. This thing is SICK looking in the Mass Navy-Blue & Battleship Gray combo.

A bear cub sniffed out a barbecue-chicken-and-jalapeño pizza in the back seat of a vintage red Buick convertible at an upper Kingsbury Grade parking lot on Sunday, jolting onlookers and leaving a cheesy mess behind. About 30 people watched the cub lumber around the Tahoe Village parking lot before it homed in on the Buick and the pizza. Frightened swimmers stayed inside the nearby pool area as the bear - ignoring the car's horn which blew non-stop as the cub pressed the seat into the steering wheel - crawled inside to ferret out the pizza that was on the floor. "The bear was loping along in the parking lot and then decides to get inside the car," said resident Jerry Pat…

With gas prices and some media bashing of people using SUV's only for single person commutes, I was curious to see how many people use SUV's for those uses. My vehicle is a Chevy Avalanche. I work at home but have the truck because I pull a 22' enclosed trailer with it. I only put on around 8k-10k per year since I work out of home. When me and the woman go out of town we take her 32mpg Alero. 50% of the miles on my Av are pulling a trailer or using for hauling misc. items. The other 50% of milage is random local commuting. Therefore my catagory is Mostly to tow/haul. If I didn't have the trailer to pull I would have a car in it's place.

I think it may have been a bit too long as well. Overall, I'd give it a B+. It would find a place in my DVD collection.

All I've seen in my very short time here is complaining regarding him - its easy to sit and type isn't it? I would like to be # 1 - you should listen and learn that atleast. The below pics (from the IIHS) were conducted from 43 to 49-MPH... BUT as both vehicles were moving towards each other, that's an 86 to 98-MPH impact. Still, and I agree: yikes.

Just a little reminder why these hideous things sell. What's funny is as I walked towards my uncle's house I saw the car and said "aw man that thing's ugly...". I'm just glad I made no comments when I went in to the house. I could have offended her. But think about it. What other car company sells a vehicle with an interior that can be hosed down? GM had the Envoy XUV, for a good $20k more than the Element sells for. They also had the Aztek, which was a similar concept, both in form and in function. And pick-up trucks, well, in general it's not a good idea to keep a dog in the outer compartment of a moving vehicle.

Even though Edmunds preferred the Bimmer, I'd take the Jag... just because it's purer and the fact it's not an "eighty-grand BMW".

Okay, here's what I need/want, followed by the reasons: I need a quiet, comfortable ride. After a loud day with students, I really enjoy a bit of solitude in my car. I love road trips and will be commuting a bit, so comfort is necessary. I'm tall, so leg room needs to be adequate in the front seat. I don't need the most-intense stereo, but quality of the sound is important. I feel any stereo in the Buick, Chevy or Saturn would meet my needs, and the Accord's stereo I've heard and it's sufficient for my needs. 2007 LaCrosse CXL: The LaCrosse would allow me to have a quiet, smooth ride, conservative looks and a nice build quality. The engine and tranny would be …

Fellow C&Gers: First, it can only be a GM car since I just hit $ 2,250 on the GM card and it cannot be a Saturn product since you can't redeem GM points for those cars. I also want to keep the MSRP to no more than $ 23,000 to $ 24,000 and deal down from there. Allow me to post some pros and cons of each model that I see: Buick LaCrosse CX 3800 Pros: - great reliability and all cast iron 3800 V6 - timeless syling Cons: - bland oval grille up front - ride and handling are so-so; it's quiet but it's not the morgue, either Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT 3.5 VVT Pros: - the most comfortable cabin set-up of the bunch; "boxier" bucket seats are great - killer g…

Okay... for the few of those to even notice my lack of existance here over the weekend... I went camping at Deer Meadows in Cooks Forest. Got to try out my new tent and sleeping bag. It was the first time in a few years since camping there. Nothing has really changed except where and how I camped. And how much it cost. My aunt and uncle have a permanent camp site up there, so it was nice. The price, too. Only $3 a night to visit. I only paid for two nights, though. I'm a sneaky lil' bastard. Haha... Anyways, yeah... My eyes are total sluts. Hot and cute guys were eeeeevvveerywhere. They loved it... having candy to look at in every direction and all times. My, my, my...…

Know how you guys always "gave it to me" about my driving? Well... I suppose you all were right. I guess the inevitable happened... I... uh... wrecked. I'm fine, though. Can't say that my Millenia is... It happened the other night. Got a pic earlier today. Would've gotten more, but my batteries when dead before I could. Eh... Anyways... from what I can remember... I was on my way to Brookville, for no reason really. The roads were a bit wet and I was going about 55. Um... as I came up to this one turn... I just... IDK... must've lost it. Next thing I remember, I was in an Ambulance. I honestly don't remember what happened. I'm not even sure what I ran in to. Anyways, I wa…

Ok, I'm in the Southland for the weekend (when I purchased the ticket, I didn't know I'd be here last month for the AIA convention). So, I forgot to bring CDs and I have to channel surf. So Cal keeps changing but some things have stayed the same for years. KRTH (K-earth) is still an oldies station, "The Wave" is still jazz, and KBIG is still generic pop. So, yesterday, I drive out to Rancho Mirage (bolts onto Palm Springs) and I'm on KRTH and I hear "Spill The Wine." What a goof-ass song, complete with the lady speaking Spanish in the background. Absurd. Then, I'm driving back and there's Disco Saturday Night ( ) on KBIG. I heard "Lady Marmalade" (voulez vous cou…

I'm in LA LA land for the weekend. Planned it (bought a ticket) a long time ago not knowing I would be here last month for the AIA convention. But that's ok, the convention didn't leave much time for So Cal "hanging out." Probably road trip here and there on each of the different days and see a college friend in San Diego on Monday. I'm about to go back to the rental car agency to swap out my Impala for something else. No "June gloom" in the AM which means the day will tend toward the hot. What are C&G-ers doing on the 4th?

On Wedensday a new CTS Sport (2007) came in, and I spent a good two hours getting her all ready to be put out on the lot. It looked sweet when I got done with it, and I have the pics to prove it In other news, I got to drive a new Tahoe to the gas station along with an SRX V6, CTS (not this one) which was a lot of fun, SRX V8 (loaner car), some other loaner cars that aren't worth mentioning, HHR, and just about an hour ago, an SSR! The SSR was definetly the coolest of the bunch, people were just staring at it the whole time.

Thanks to Satty's thread about W-bodies, it's allowed me to start a thread on what kind of tires people prefer. I've never really figured out the right way to decide on and purchase new tires. I used Consumer Reports back in '97 and didn't like the tires they recommended!! The Malibu is in need of new rubber, and I'm thinking of going with Goodyear Assurance ComforTred (current tires are factory-installed Bridgestone Insignia SE P215/60R16 94S M+S <--- not great tires IMO). Whenever I've had Goodyear tires on a car, I've always liked the way they've performed. Now I'm actually holding off buying them because I was waiting to see if there would be any good summer in…

Hey, I am at a crossroads, I am not sure of what I should do. I was looking at a Cobalt SS moonroof without the Supercharger. Now the car clocks in at approx $475 / month and is somewhere in the range for the lease payment on my 05 RSX. They said they "should" be able to buy out the lease on the RSX and I could buy the Cobalt. Does anyone have any opinion on this? I kinda like the RSX more but getting service is hard because of the limited dealers around and when you do get service there is still a hassle with getting parts. It took them 2 months for a strut and I don't see things getting better with the RSX being discontinued. I guess the major question is, is the Cobal…

First and foremost, Starbucks is a stomping ground for losers involved in multi-level marketing....Amway, Quixtar, etc. These people are the bottom of the cesspool and it's too bad they have to bother people wanting to enjoy a cup at Starbucks or peruse books at B&N. About 1 year ago, I had an Americanized Hispanic guy start chatting me up at a Starbucks about 2 miles from my place. About the fifth question is what do you do and where? I tell him I don't disclose that and since his "sequence" and "approach" is so familiar and proceeded to go off on him. He hadn't EVEN ordered a drink! First of all, the global leadership in Paris and Tokyo sees little purpose to Buick and Saturn, so these brands will be cancelled immediately. Apologies to anyone who actually cared about them. Renault has plans to come back to the U.S., and it's believed the best way to do this is sell all GMC/Chevy GMT900's as Renaults. The Silverado will be known as the Renault Clouseau, in honor of the legendary French detective: The Tahoe will be sold as the Renault Chirac, after the great French premier who stood up to Yankee imperialism. It's believed that these moves will give Renault a volume of 1.5 million units in North America, instantly making it a major player. It wi…

I got myself out of bed early Wednesday morning to get a haircut before work. I got to the barber shop, noted the people ahead of me (couple of middle-aged guys, an older gentleman and his grandson, about 5-8 years old), and plopped down in a chair to "rest my eyes". Within minutes, the TV blared a promo for the new movie, "Cars". My ears perked slightly, in part because I'm eager to see this movie. The promo ended, and I went back to "resting my eyes", though not for long. Within seconds, a voice piped up: "That movie doesn't look good." Suddenly, my dreary eyes were not so dreary anymore. I looked at the young kid who had just uttered those words. While my mind…

Yup. A P71 Interceptor, likely in that black or dark, dark blue. This would be our third car and used mainly by my father for work. As I said in the 9C1 Caprice thread, this place around here - CopCarsOnline - seems pretty good an reputable. I've yet to check them out in person, but I want to, and for under $10k its a nice deal, especially with the heavy-duty componants and the spotlight so I can bug my girlfriend at 1:26am. I'm still hoping for a low-mileage PA Ultra, Aurora 4.0, Regal GS, or something plain neat like an 80s Toronado.

By Buck Wolf Men of the world, rejoice! The average length of an erect penis is shorter than you probably think. A study by Lifestyles Condom Co. shows that the average length of a male sex organ is 5.877 inches — which might comfort men who previously thought they were less than average. "The Kinsey Sex Report and other penis size surveys have indicated that the length of the penis is 6.2 to 6.4 inches," says Simon Joseph, a spokesman for Lifestyles. "Our results show that about three-quarters of men fall under the average quoted by Kinsey." "A half-inch or less might not have anything to do with how you perform sexually, but it might make a difference in how you fee…

It's something that will make you nuts... I come outside, to find a bunch of kids sitting on my cars.... about a dozen kids, sitting on 5-6 cars, including mine. On top on that, they are being stupid, bouncing on them, hitting them, and laying on the hood.... I just about went livid..... I must have scared them (though a few others started yelling at them too) I wasn't worried about the wagon (it looks beat up anyways) But they marked up the facia, headlight, and hood of my coupe (it's only 2 years old, and looks good ) And I'm not sure if it is going to buff out... The car next to me (Neon) had a cracked headlight... And poured beer into a crack…

Wow, where to begin. First off an old friend from HS stopped by today and gave me some shocking (though not that shocking) news. He's BI and had always wanted to be with me. I informed him that I don't do guys and he then tried to kiss me on the lips. I pushed him back and informed him again that I don't do guys. Well he started crying and telling me he loves me, I felt bad becuase I don't like seeing my friend cry, but I was all like, man don't feel bad it's just the way things are. He told me to f@#k off and then sped off in his Silverado.

I was so happy to see this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060624/en_tv_...HNlYwN5bmNhdA-- Futurama will be back (with Billy West, John Dimaggio and Katey Segal) on Cartoon Network in 2008. While the Simpsons have really lost their bite, Futurama was just hitting its stride when FOX assured that it would fail by pre-empting with crappy football, changing dates and times to a point where fans had no idea if it was going to be on or not. All right! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape, let's rock!

All right went cruising around last night. I was in the Impala, friend of mine was in his newely restored '72 SS454 Chevelle, and we were running around town when two kids in a 93 Acura Integra with fart can pulled up next to me. I looked over at them, smirked and cracked the sunroof. The revved the engine and my buddy likewise revved his.....the kids immediately revved and as the light changed to green, they squalled the tires, my buddy lit the tires on his Chevelle up, and I lit the fronts up on my Impala. Of course Jimmy's Chevelle had my ass stomped, along with the Integra. The guys in the Integra then decided that it was me and him. So at the next light Jimmy h…
