You get it, you post the next set of lyrics. Song title and Band/artist (album and songwriter(s) if you know them) Here's mine: Well I been drinkin' again And I know it's a sin But I just can't refuse an old friend Cause life is gettin' me down And I been two times around And there ain't nothing but pain around the bend I'm not made for the time I'm born in the wrong century There's too much craziness here In twenty-five years I have used all the tears in my eyes Now this old world is a fright You know my future ain't bright And I'd just crawl in a hole if I could Or maybe live out in space Or some other far away place And not come back t…

As you are reading this, you will notice the animated GIF files in my signature and in my Avatar. I have had one or two complaints about them, in that they are slowing down connections, browsing, etc. Really, the number of complaints is like 0.00001 of the site's members, but perhaps there are those who find them annoying and haven't said anything. I understand members still have dial-up internet and my files would be a huge drain on their speed. My question is, should I keep them going? I don't have a poll set up because I think that'd be dumb, because there could be some sort of middle ground or compromise, instead of just "Yes" or "No."

Just watched the first few episodes of DEXTER on OnDemand. Boy am I hooked to this show. Not often do I get sucked into a TV show. I've actually always considered people who are addicted to television to be sad. I like to LIVE life, not just experience life vicariously through a two-dimensional media. That being said I love this show. It's such an awsome premise to have a dark hero "serial-killer-killer" or perhaps it's more like "serial-serial-killer" or is it "serial-killer-killing-serial-killer"? Thoughts? Other fans of the show?

My Firefox has been a bitch lately. It's slower than usual and it even froze up on me earlier today. While Im not ruling this out, I highly doubt it's a virus or spyware as I'm not going to any irregular sites, just the same ones that I never had problems with even when I used IE. Now, not long ago, I did make it so I could watch videos and listen to music, but just for Youtube and Myspace. I just had some plugin installed that Mozilla's website suggested. I don't think it would have this affect on Firefox... but knowing my backwords working PC, I wouldn't doubt it. Otherwise, I don't know what could be causing Firefox to run so slow. I can't even use IE anymore which is …

It is a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan. 2.2L 4 cylinder with the 4-speed auto. It has 235,000kms which is about 183,000 miles I believe. The transmission has been rebuilt, the car has had two owners and was bought in my hometown and driven there. It was used as a commuter car to Toronto everyday which is about 90kms one way. The car is in very good running condition, has been e-tested. I dont think the radio works but I wanted to get a new one anyways because I need a CD player. The car does have some body rust but it is minor (surface rust) under the gas tank and on both rear quarter panels. The rockers are also getting a bit rusty but everything else seems solid. They ev…

In a thread about the Honda Step-Bus concept Moltar wrote: This is a great jumping off point for my perspective on the past 120 (or so) years of the Automotive world. The Automobile was is its infancy when WWI started, it peeked once magnificently in the late 1930s and then stagnated a bit throughout the 1940s due to WWII. Many fantastic things were accomplished in the 1950s especially style wise and then in the 1960s the modern car was born & performance was given to the masses in gorgeous, candy wrapper like packages. Ever since then untill very recently the automobile has been in a downward spiral, getting worse and worse and worse. The 1970s saw …

Yeah, so I think I'm ready to get myself an MP3 player (or get it as a present :AH-HA_wink: ). Getting tired of the compact disc thing. I want video capability and a decent-sized amount of storage. The three I'm seriously considering are the... -Creative Zen Vision: M -Video iPod (30 GB) -Microsoft Zune Currently, the Zen is winning me over with longer battery life, more colorful a screen, more features and greater format compatibility than the iPod. The iPod is the sleekest-looking and has the "cache" (it doesn't change the fact that it's inferior spec-wise compared to the Zen). I know next to nothing really about the Zune. Well Deftones got me go'in on these videos. This is my favorite band Savatage. Yea their old but this was in 87, from "Gutter Ballet" their 5 or 6th release. Forgive me if you guys have seen these videos, I rarely watched or watch MTV so I have seen very few. THis is a ballad of sorts but not "love", its about the feelings of a stage performer after the curtain draws closed for what may be the last time. Dont judge it from the opening. Simple song but from the heart, more commercial than most of their stuff. These guys were as much pioneers of "heavy metal" as Metalica or Iron Maiden - debut in 1983. But they have been too overlooked in my opinion. http://video.google.co…

It's so fun to get tanked and have the ladies get tanked and tell them how nice they look in their apparel. Just use the same words over and over....."you look STUNNING tonight." And be sure to bash their female coworkers...."oh that dress looks SO bad on HER". alcohol, dancing, etc. people doing things they will REGRET later. no major stories for me to tell, it was a hoot but nothing i did i wish i wouldn't have! So I finally got a cell phone. This now makes me no longer practically unreachable. I can't count the numerous times where not having one made hanging out with friends or such that much harder, with most of my friends living a good 20 miles away. And with my home phone line always being busy and me not being home all that much in the first place, it was difficult. Not any more. I may not get any service here at home, but a quick walk/drive up to the top of the hill and I suddenly have full bars, haha. I guess it'll be good exercise.

Canola is a no-no...I havent really looked into it but diabetics are not supposed to consume canola because it is transformed into gluccose... LONDON - The level of violence in Iraq is "much worse" than that of Lebanon's civil war, outgoing U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said in an interview aired Monday. Speaking to the British Broadcasting Corp., Annan agreed that the average Iraqi's life is worse now than it was under Saddam Hussein and called the situation in the country "extremely dangerous." "Given the level of violence, the level of killing and bitterness and the way that forces are arranged against each other, a few years ago, when we had the strife in Lebanon and other places, we called that a civil war; this is much worse," Annan said. Last week, when asked by reporters whether the fighting in Ir…

Just about 2 years ago I bought an HP Photosmart945 digital camera (about $500). It has been used lightly and always kept in its original styrofoam packaging. Well, a few weeks ago it just decided to stop working. So, I went through all of the troubleshooting procedures and ran the camera's own diagnostic tests all to no avail. I then went online and tried all of the HP suggestions there - no dice. Then, I go online with an HP tech in a live chat - we try everything without luck. Now, after investing about 3 hours of my day on this, the result is: 1) it's out of warranty 2) HP doesn't repair their cameras 3) my only options are an "upgrade" from HP of my choice of severa…

Now that it's after Thanksgiving (in the U.S. and Canada) I can start talking about Christmas and everything that comes along with it: decorating, cookies, parties, gifts, snow (hopefully), etc. I think I've learned this rule from my parents who have followed it to the 'T.' A local radio station began playing an all-Christmas playlist about two weeks ago, I believe, and that got my thinking about Christmas songs. I downloaded a bunch yesterday in my spare time and now I have a question for my fellow C&Gers. What is your favorite Christmas song? Personally, I like "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" by Trans Siberian Orchestra, "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill an…

Who else has been enjoying this big storm thats been going across the nation? It started raining last night and didn't let up, it turned into freezing rain and finally snow this evening. The best part is that I had to drive around randomly assessing the roads so I could decide wether or not any stores needed to be closed. Since half the town was a sheet of ice and there were no plows in sight, one delivery only store had to be closed. After that I got bored so I came home and couldn't get the Fusion into my garage (driveway is a pretty steep incline) so I left it at the end of the driveway and came inside. Then I used some Nair I found to eliminate a single gigant…

All right, most people who have been on the forum here know I am NOT crazy about lesbians. I am fairly indifferent to gay men. However, lesbians carry such negative energy that I can't dismiss it and thus dislike them. My first run-in with a lesbian was at a place of employment a few years after college in So. Cal. She was my immediate supervisor. I had NO clue she was a lesbian, but how quickly you learn. I just thought she was a woman who preferred short hair and had a thick, squatty frame. We would go to company sites and had to turn in expense reports upon returning from the trip. Even though there was a minimum below which you didn't have to itemize, I tend t…

Alright guys I am in Phoenix at the auto show here with the Jeep exhibit and I had the day off today so I did some looking around and I brought my Kodak with me. First the Silverado..... Let me say, this car, um I mean truck, is awesome! With the new rack and pinion and the interior that is awesome in the LTZ and way more than expected in the LT, I feel like I'm driving an aura or maybe even a cadillac in it. It was so smooth and quiet! But... the plastic on the dashboard was pretty hard and the tan leather was kind of dirty, I know it is a demo vehicle, but the leather can be hard to clean, but it was high grade stuff. Power was great, even with the small V8. The 5.…

Latest issue compares the super sedans and the pecking order is: 5. Dogsus LS 460L 4. Jaguar Super V-8 3. BMW 750 Li 2. Audi A8l Quattro 1. MB S550 5. Dogsus For a car that some of us thought might win, fifth place seems astonishing. But you have to blame Lexus's obsessive isolation from noise and vibration for this outcome. Persuading Lexus to negotiate our famous lane change test was akin to driving a coach. ..... sound levels are low enough inside that imperfect door seals on our preproduction vehicle produced wind noise that seemed hurricane like in comparison. It really hasn't been mentioned very much...or at all, but there seems to be absoulutely no closure as to wheter or not either company activley helped the Nazis. Critics say they knew and willingly helped build tanks and aircraft and whatnot, but the companies themselves say the Nazis wrested control of the factories away from them. Believe me, there's nothing that I'd rather believe more than that Ford and GM actually did have their plants taken over, but with all the criticism I found online, the whole thing gets a bit fuzzy. So I guess let's try to get some closure on this topic.

In modern car design, function follows form. Case in point: the modern-day decklid. For the greatest contrast, you might refer to a mid-60's car such as this 1966 Cadillac: Then take a look at this current generation STS: Now, I'm not saying we should go back to the humongous trunks of the 60s. But consider that my dad's friend owns a previous-generation Impala, with a huge trunk. He had purchased a lawnmower, and he wanted to load it into the trunk. He couldn't. Not because the trunk was too small, no. But the trunk opening was too small. And that's just upsetting. There have been numerous times where I have tried to load something into the Cobalt's huge-f…

There were a couple GM cars I saw and looked at. a previous gen Grand Prix, and a 90's Seville. I didn't get to test drive either, but I did sit in them. The Caddy was nice, with plenty of soft materials and so on. I've always been a fan of the styling, but it's not a car I could afford, so I passed on it. There are cars and trucks that are ugly, slow and/or impractical. They might have cheap interiors or suck at handling. They could also be obscenely overpriced or blandest thing on four wheels. You may just plain not like them as of course, taste and priorities vary from person to person. In fact, as I'm typing this, I'm thinking the question of what is a bad car may be both subjective and objective as weird as it sounds. So I guess I have a two-part question here: -Do you see the issue of "bad cars" as being subjective, objective or something in between? -Based on that, are any "bad cars" made today?

Saturday afternoon, I stopped to get gas before I left town for Freeport IL to see some friends for dinner. The gallons (after almost a week of driving) was 7.729 for $17.00. On the way back home late Saturday night, I thought about getting gas, but decided I'd just get gas today (Sunday) after I did some running around. So, today, I stopped at Walmart, stopped at a no-touch car wash to get the '87 MC LS washed, drove a bit to help dry it off a bit more, then stopped for gas. After I got back home and started inputting the figures into my "gas book", I was stunned to discover that the gallons and dollar amount were exactly the same as yesterday's ... 7.729 gallons for…

Crossing from PA into NJ on Route 1 today. Old man in a beige Camry merges into the right hand lane. Only problem is, there is an old Volvo 240DL wagon there with me in the left hand lane. The Volvo tried to merge into my lane, squishing me into the jersey barrier. We of course slam on the brakes, swerve as much as we can and avoid the accident, but we hit a major pot hole. Alignment is out of wack, the under engine cover is torn off and there are squeaks from the sunroof and passenger door now. Going to the dealership this week.

I just saw an episode of this detective show, The Rockford Files, starring James Garner and was blown away by how good it was, all the '70s cars and the great looking gold Firebird Esprit he drove. It was fun seeing fun poked at the SolCal sensiblities of the time. The series ran from 1974 - 1980. I am definitely going to get this DVD collection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5pYtG_jo3o...related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_dqaWcLucQ

When I was learning html, flash, etc I created two websites: cheersandgears.com and Ugly Car Monthly. I found the whole site on my D drive this morning and though I'd share. It cracks me up what I wrote for this stuff. Make sure you check out all the years (2000, 01 and 02). I've certainly grown up a bit since then, but I agree with a lot of what I wrote. enjoy, maybe: (oh and put your speakers on for the opening) http://www.jkface.com/uglycarmonthly/index.html

The hard drive on my powerbook decided to die the other day. Didn't lose any files, but still a pain in the ass. Anyone have a favorite hard drive OEM? So far Hitachi has been recommended to me.

I'd like to know what everyone's favorite engine is. Pick just one if you can. It doesn't have to be the biggest or the most powerful, just what you like or what you think is the most significant. Mine is, without question the : 350 cubic inch Chevrolet!

We're officially in the "holiday season" which means the suicide rate is going to go up drastically, so what better time to reminisce about the goals you set for yourself as a child or that you're going to fail to achieve in the future. (That sounded bitter didn't it?) Goals as a child (we'll define "child" as 15 and under because it seems like a nice cutoff) --Become an astronaut --Be a published author --Invade Iceland Sadly those are the only two goals I set for myself that I still remember. Goals as an adult --Be a published author (at least this time I have some completed material) --Get a degree in something (later decided to be journalism) --Be…

For the past couple years I haven't really known what I wanted, and this year again I don't have any idea. I guess I don't really think I have a need for anything... So what is everyone else asking for this holiday?

So i was at my Grandmas house in northern Montana and of course its rural so my dad usually takes us out to drive. Well he let my sister drive out here on the dirtroads, she did fine other than shes super bad with the clutch. And after she was done my brother mentioned driving into town (20 miles) and do some "Geocaching", so my dad let me drive and ito town on the highway and i did fine until we reached town. So the new Mega Cab needed some gas so we pulled into the gas station. And at the end of the Gas Station theyre were 2 poles like most gas stations. And as i was pulling out thats when the trouble began. my dad told me just go straight and even to the left maybe. We…

Given that my new job (which I enjoy) has doubled my commute time along roads that are, unfortunately, generously dumped with salt during the snowy months, I may purchase another car to keep my '87 MC LS from the salt/snow. During my October road trip, I spotted a white 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme at a dealership in Independence MO. In the meantime, I loved driving the '06 Dodge Charger during that same road trip ... so much so that I'm toying with the idea of buying one, depending on what type of deal I can get.... I keep wavering back'n'forth, tho. The older car would be a "winter beater" only, of sorts, whereas a new Charger would also double as my personal roa…

Just me and my good ol' 12 pack Keith's. My roommates all went home, to London and the rest all of a sudden all went down to NYC, in the middle of nowhere. I don't know how they're going to get there, because they were talking about taking Greyhound, but then AFAIK you need to book that. They also mentioned about getting a rental car, but again, rental companies are probably closed by now. Sounds wierd, but I don't care! I have the house now!

Recall: Various Volvos, Different DCXs, Few Fords The government announced four auto recalls Wednesday affecting about 300,600 vehicles. More than half of the vehicles being recalled -- 170,099 -- are Volvo passenger cars, station wagons and SUVs from the 1999-2002 model years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. Volvo Cars of North America, a unit of Ford Motor Co., is recalling vehicle speed controls on some C70, C70 convertible, S60, S70, S80, V70, V70XC and XC70 models. A malfunctioning electronic throttle module may cause the vehicles to unnecessarily go into "limp home" mode, in which the vehicle's speed is limited to 10 to 30 m.p.h., NHTSA s…

Hapiness is driving a 1964 Oldsmobile down Rt.4 in Lexington Mass in early October with the fall colors whizzing by... A big, proud, sharp-dressed boat of a car in a sea of Toyotas & Hondas. Cheap cigar in one hand & a thin sky blue steering wheel in the other. All four windows down for that panoramic window look and Gordon Lightfoot coming in crystal clear over a 42 year old AM radio set to "MUSIC" mode. Certain aspects of my life are a cluster-f%$k right now but at least Marcia and I are in love again and the job is going well. How's everyone else?

A little back story first: Well it seems that the Shadow has had it. It still runs fine and all but when I took it to the mechanic last week to have the headlighst looked at (sometimes they wouldn't turn on) and asked him to look at the cause of a small amount of smoke I sometimes see coming from the hood I got some unsettling, though not entirely unexpected news. As you guys may remember, it leaks oil and tranny fluid, this I know...not assloads but still some, and I had a suspicion that oil leaked onto the tanny and when it got hot so did the oil, hence the smoke. Well I was right...but there's more It leaks oil from: Oil Pan Camshaft Valve Cover It lea…

I have always wanted to start a collection of automotive stuff, but haven't yet. Who collects all things automotive here? Where do you source it? Who has something very unusual, rare? I've always like vintage photos and collectibles of gas stations....don't know why, but it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
