video I just find this funny. I guess diesel would make for a good drifter - you don't have to rev it as high. I can't imagine it's too easy to drift with four back wheels though.

You bound up the steps into the gym two at a time, show the front desk chick your member number, and make your way down to the locker room to change. You're so ready to get on that stepper and show it who's boss. 20 minutes on the stepper, no problem. You stop at the water fountain for a sip, in your regular routine, then wash your hands and head back upstairs, two at a time, full of energy. You're no newbie. You mix it up a bit on the apparatus, suavely making your way around the room with a professional, seasoned face. You can't help but glance around at a few attractive people, but your brow remains furrowed, intent on working your muscles, building a better body…

I could be getting a older Dell Laptop in the next few weeks..for cheap. Downside is, that it is a celeron(not that big of a deal) 256k of memory, and a 20gb hard drive. Would it be worth it to upgrade it? And not cost me an arm and a leg? I plan use it for school-related stuff, so it doesn't have to be powerful....

So I was driving home from work last week, when my Yukon started making a thumping noise. At first I thought it was just a bent rim or something, but I would have only been so lucky. After checking out all the wheels and taking it for another drive, I noticed that it only happened under power. After talking to a few people and having them take a look it, we thought it might be the U joint. It looked worn, but after replacing that the sound was still coming from somewhere else. It sounded like it was coming from the rear end. We took a look in the rear end, and this is what we found laying on the bottom.... We decided that this wasn't something that could be do…

A thread about comedians. Who do you like? Who don't you like? Etc. Personally, I've been a fan of Stephen Lynch for a while and seeing him on Comedy Central for the first time in a while last night gave me the idea for this thread. He's a comedic song writer. One simply needs to listen to Hermaphrodite, Lullaby, Grandfather, Talk to Me, Kill a Kitten, or one of his many other songs. They're cleverly written and on top of that, he's a great vocalist and guitarist. Other than him, I'm also a big fan of Carlos Mencia and Lewis Black.

According to my estimates, in order for me to travel the 3200 miles from my house in Massachusetts to Tulsa, Oklahoma & back in my Super-88, taking into account premium fuel, lead substitute, tolls/food etc. I'll need just about $800. If I can split the gas bill with a friend... (XP715 you reading this?) then my cost drops down to about $450. Now why the hell, you ask would make my one vacation of the summer a roadtrip to a not-so exciting town in Oklahoma, 1598 miles away? First, I've been saying for a long time now that I want to meet up with my buddy Duffy at some halfway point in the USA this year. He lives in Phoenix AZ and just sold his steel-roof …

Well fly, I'm right on your heals. Woke up Saturday to my car alarm remote beaping at me. It was really windy when I woke up so I figured that the wind had just rocked the car enough to set the preshock on the alarm off, so I just got into the shower to get ready for work and ignored it. I got out of my apartment a little after 9 and when I got down to my car I did a quick walk around just to make sure. Sure enough, someone had backed into my Impala. Right on the corner of the back bumper on the drivers side. No note either. Not a huge smack I guess, but I'm going to need a new lower bumper cover and paint. It is getting a little wierd though. Well, after reading through the classifieds while helping my girlfriend look for a cheap computer monitor, I couldn't help but notice a bevy of ads from local Chevy and B-P-GMC dealers seeking sales associates and offering training and the like and it started to think about it. And since I know there are alot of members here that have sold/are selling cars for a living, why not ask? The big question is - how is the car sales business for a young 22 year-old college-educated male with a real passion for cars (me)? As far as the others: What are these 'training programs' typically like? What's the difference between an internet sales position and regular sales? What's …

It got me. Again. Only this time, it involved my mom’s Venture. We were taking one of the Company’s cargo vans up to the local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac/GMC/Isuzu/Mitsubishi dealer to get a recall on the power steering pump taken care of. So, after dropping off the Express van, my mom, dad, little cousin who’s now living with us (a whole different story on its own), and I pile into our Venture to head home. I turn the key and it sort of sputters. The engine doesn’t turn over. I figured maybe I didn’t turn the key hard enough, so I try again. Same thing...the engine sputters, but nothing. The radio comes on, but the time gets reset to 12:00 each time. It’s then I realize that my…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=119336 RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Get ready to burn some lavender. In one of the stranger tech stories of the year, Kumho Tire USA says it has developed the world's first scented tire. The tire is targeted at female buyers who drive such vehicles as the Chrysler Sebring, Ford Taurus, Honda Accord, Subaru Outback and Toyota Camry, the company said. The punsters at Kumho say the aromatic tire is the "fruition" of more than a year's worth of research and development to deliver "an alluring aroma tire that replaces the normal 'black rubber' smell with heat-resistant oils in the scent of lavender, and in later versions, n…

So I'm looking for photos on Google and I come upon one of my old signatures. The one of a red '59 Electra-225 Riviera from the brochure, I had labeled the corner of it in a very modern font (Geneva?) and so there was no mistaking it. I went to the source site & it's in Hebrew, or it might be Arabic but since there are stars of david for a rating system I'm guessing Hebew. Anyway I notice a few other photos that turn out to be my old signatures and there's that very unique photo I took of that 1966 Corvair that I photographed in Kingston, NH when I was contemplating buying that car. I got a call from the collector who bought my Hawk this morning. Great conversation. He thanked me for being truthful about the car and including everything with it. Then he told me the good news: He has decided that it's a keeper and was preparing it to go into it's own climate-controlled bubble. The best part is that he has given me the right of first refusal should he ever decide to sell it. I feel much better about it all now.

During my morning drive to work, I tend to listen to several different morning radio shows. On Friday, one of the morning duos posed this question to its audience: "What makes someone a Loser?" I laughed at some of the replies that were called in, including one guy that mentioned: "You're a loser if you don't cheer for the home team in a sporting event." Course, that was mentioned because of the upcoming playoff game between the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. Apparently, many Saints fans live here in Chicago. Plus, the "sentimental favorite" for the game is, of course, the Saints because of what happened to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Though, that…

Have you seen the new Orville Redenbacher microwavable popcorn commerical? If not, check it out here first: It's creepy! This guy has been dead since 1995, yet the company decided to resurect him for their new ad??? He looks fake - I watched E!'s "Talk Soup" show yesterday and they said it was a combination of live action, Orville's head & lots of CG effects. But I think it's creepy. Especially in the beginning of the commercial, I think all the people in it think it's creepy to see a dead guy boppin' to an MP3 player and making popcorn- just look at their faces (especially the white guy with glasses)! And best of all, at the end of the commercial he says…

My mom is way over due for a newish car. She loves her current car (a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo) to death, but the thing is starting to fall apart. To the point where it would make more finantial sense to buy a newer car. So we went dealer hopping today. She really didn't say she liked anything in particular. Just walked around and was like "hmm" every so once an a while. She isn't picky about brands (mostly because she is clueless when it comes to cars), although my dad is another story. The Management has decided a new approach must be taken to improve the working conditions, customer service ratings, and overall image of The Company. Thus, a new Office Policy is introduced below ... and is effecive immediately. Dress Code: You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary. If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise. If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise. I just read up on FrostWire (a P2P program that is based on LimeWire) and I like the features. It sounds like a nice way to reach out and grab some bootlegs and get into some bands I've been meaning to listen to. I also like the fact that, in addition to that fact Frost wire offers what LW Basic offers, you get some of LW's premium features as well. I just got to know one thing: is the program clean and, if not, is there a way to clean it up. I don't want to do system restore twice a month. If you know anything, drop a line here. Thanks.

I got a car last week on Monday the 7th. It was a clean, blue 1993 Beretta GT auto with the 3.1 V6. It had one spot of rust that was only on the surface and it only had 165,000kms on it. I got it for $1200 as is. Now I would've posted pictures if my camera wasn't on the fritz. One problem now, on the way to get the car emission tested, my dad was driving up the street in our neighbourhood when our neighbour's 4Runner veered into his lane. The 4Runner (1998) hit my car while on the way to Canadian Tire. My dad tried to turn out of the way but it had snowed the night before and the rear of the Beretta just slid out and the 4Runner hit the driver side door and the rear quart…

LONDON — An entrepreneur in Surrey, England, boasts a nine-month waiting list for what he says is "the best car wash in the world." It ought to be; he charges $11,500 per car for the 61-step wash treatment. Paul Dalton, interviewed by the U.K.'s Daily Record newspaper, says he spends 64 hours on each car for the high-priced Pinnacle Wash treatment. Among his secret weapons is a special Brazilian wax called Zymol Royale that he keeps locked up because of its scarcity. Dalton claims his wax finishes last a year. Celebrities including soccer players and aging rocker Rod Stewart are among Dalton's clients; Stewart reportedly splurges on the Pinnacle Wash for his Ferrari Enz…

As we reported previously, the car nicknamed "the Quebec Bomb" employs carbon fiber construction and an 8.2-liter V8 to produce a high power-to-weight ratio driving from behind a three-passenger cabin with a center-line driving position, an innovative layout employed in the record-shattering McLaren F1 supercar (and in a 1966 Ferrari 365 P prototype), but not replicated since. Unfortunately, as is often the case with such ambitious projects, the car was far from …

All you starry-eyed CR worshippers that get the warm & fuzzies when quoting re-affirming company rhetoric, you may want to reach for some Valium. The associated Press is reporting this morning that the Yonker NY-based 'consumer advocate' magazine has retracted a strong, damning review of infant car seats (only 2 of 12 'recomended') when federal government review showed CR tested the seats at drastically higher speeds than they claimed. Most of CR's test samples showed 'disasterous failure' at speeds stated to be as low as 35 mph. One infant dummy was hurled 30 feet. But NHTSA revealed that some of the crash tests were conducted under conditions that would represent …

I brought this up on a previous thread, and it sounds like Detroitnut90 had a somewhat similar problem: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...c=14823&hl= But I'll post again just in case the other topic gets buried. Anyway, like a week or so ago, I wanted to access C&G, but unlike most other times, I got a white screen, with some internet jargon... Now I figured it was just the site going messed, so I ignore it. Later that day I try to access again, and get the same message. No biggie. Tuesday rolls around and I'm reading and watching about the auto show, but not from C&G... I'm getting a wee little antsy that I'm still getting the same error me…

....never mind. I picked a Sensa e250 2GB player today, went to charge it, and the whole thing shut down on me. Me being new to Mp3 players, freaked out. After playing with it for a while, I got it to turn off, then on. All good. I was worried there for a minute... Now I have to get an ipod too....Nano, I think.

There's a dealership in Toronto dumping their remaining '06 Tauruses for CAD$13,988. For comparison, the bloody Aveo is CAD$12,995, and the Cobalt is $14,930. If I was in the market for a car that big right now, I might even look past the fact that it's a F**d.

I need some help, ASAP. My computer is acting really, really funny right now. Alright, when you usually open a program, you get a bar that appears in the taskbar that has the program name. Here's my problem: that isn't showing up anymore. Period. And when I hit minimize on accident, I usually have to open the program up again and start from scratch on what I'm doing. Any help?

I don't like: That dead fluffy animal carcass on his head that he tries to pass for hair. The way he thinks he can act on television, but its very obvious that he can't. The way his mouth moves when he speaks (See above) makes me wanna deck him right in the mouth. His grating, wheezy, irritating voice. The poster boy for everything wrong with corporate America How many times has he been married again? He's a phucking philanderer (see above. his new wife better keep some serious tabs on him) Did I mention that annoying way his mouth moves when he tries to act and speak at he same time? GAWD I wanna deck that bastard.

That is a CD of mine. I'm not sure how it got like that. I hope it's repairable. It plays... sort of. The first half of the CD endlessly skips, jumps, etc. Only my computer actually plays it. The second half sounds unscathed for the most part. I'd like to atleast rip this CD onto my pc so I could make a new copy of it. I just wonder if I can repair it enough to be able to do that, atleast. Any suggestions?

There is a little town in North Central California that I find really quaint. That would be Chico. About 3x a year, I'll grab a rental car and go there to do...well...nothing. I'll go to B&N, Starbucks, a movie, to eat (they've got some good little restaurants)....and sleep. Any towns, lonely beaches or rural places you retreat to?

I'm glad I stumbled upon this site, you guys pretty much have all the latest General Motors news. I'll introduce myself. I'm 21, I just finished college and am now working as a temp at the GM parma stamping plant. The plant had to hire temps because about half of the workers took the buyout and they needed people to replace some of them. We don't make as much as the regular employees ($18.75 an hour plus cost of living, so a total of about 21 an hour) but get no benefits, but its still a damn good wage and its enough that I can afford to pay monthly for my own health insurance. I have quite a few gm workers in my family. My dad is a supervisor at the plant, my grand…

So, anyone ever had it before? Did it go away quickly? Anyone mistake you for a drug addict? I woke up with it this morning in both eyes. I am absolutely miserable. I can't see worth a $h!, my eyes ache constantly, and I have to clean $h! outa my eyes all the time. I'm hoping that it goes away soon, but the problem I have is that I am allergic to sulfa drugs. And, all the eye drops for pink eye are sulfa based. So they gave me some ointment that might work or might not. If it doesn't I'll hae to keep trying different things until something works.

Welcome to the latest update of Steve (MyerShift) and his Plymouth Breeze. Rapidly approaching, Thursday will signify the second full week I have been without my car. First, it took the dealership forever to figure out what the problem itself was (and I've heard that Volkswagen dealerships are questionable). Second, problem found regarding failing fuel pump. I was quoted Tuesday (today- January 16, 2007) as the day I would be able to pick up my car. So, I scrounged the money together for what I do have to pay regarding the repair, and I called Team Hillsdale Chrysler before leaving Coldwater to make sure that I could pick up my car, which leads us to: Third, I can't g…

I'm starting my grad engineering design project this term, and I'm meeting up with my group to finalize the topic, and submit to a consultant for approval. But right now, we need ideas. We're focusing out topic on in-car entertainment Any ideas? Say, what would be great to have in the car audio/video system? Thanks for any input in advance!

well boys and girls. i'm sitting here and typing one handed because the other one is holding my little bundle of joy. I've come to a realization, it isn't bad at all to be a dad. we've only been home for a few hours and already I know this is what I've wanted to be. Holding my little one in my arms for a little while, even if she's screaming her lungs out and crying like the devil is a great feeling, I know that one day it'll all end, but right now, I really really love being a dad, seeing those big blue-gray eyes look up at me, I know that this is the right thing and it can't get any more right. Hopefully I'll have a picture or two up of her soon. So, how's about th…

OK So I was thinking...if C&G had a panel of 5 to discuss things, who would be on it? We want it entertaining and provacative in the spirit of Barbara Walters, but we also want it to have a shot at decent ratings without resorting to stunt casting. So who? My pick: Satty Reg ocnblu trinacriabob Croc Honorable mentions go to: YJ, Nick, Northie, The O.C. Who would your lineup be?

The objective is simple. Name cars that you believe sparked a turnaround at their respective brand (i.e. Chrysler 300). Explain if possible. Go!

Everyone of us has some food that we go nuts over...and probably eat more of it than we should AT ONE TIME. For some, it's Oreos, cashews, etc. Mine is French Onion Dip, either with chips or wheat crackers. I bought some this weekend. I don't do this often. What is THAT food for you?

I have to wait for it to be approved Monday morning for publication in the next issue, and inclusion in their online classifieds. I need bites!

(This is a pretty large file so make sure you scroll around to see all of it. Ah yes, once again it is time for everyone's favorite map guide to the NAIAS. Guiding us again this year is none other than NOS. As you can see, he's very excited, so lets not waste any time. Off we go. NOS enters through the Macomb hall doors and is overcome with a massive cloud of new car smell. He immediately passes out. Five minutes later, he wakes up to the bomb sniffing dog licking his face. To his left he sees the Accord Coupe Concept. Skeptical, he walks over. "Hm...it doesn't actually look like a bland turd" he exclaims. It confuses him as he actually finds it somewhat attractiv…

If you’ve noticed my absence for the past week, it’s because I’m returning from a break from C&G. It wasn’t my choice to take the break, though-my home computers and our Verizon FiOS connection decided to. I can’t imagine what could make them block the site for a little over a week and then just resume allowing access to it as normal this morning. I thought that the server finally went down the toilet until I asked my friend to check if his computer would load the site, which he said did “super-fast.” Technology’s a marvelous thing sometimes, no? I’m pissed that I missed the auto show coverage here. After following the NAIAS on Inside Line, Winding Road, and Leftlane …

I think I may have written an estimate yesterday for one of Nos' aunts. Her last name: "Purvee". The first 3 letters in her license plate: "EWE". I once had a regular customer at my job in MD with the name "Lucius Butt". Do you know, or have you heard of any real people with embarrassing names?
