Been on that other forum (GMOutsidenews) and it sucks big time. Moderators only want post they approve of, so I have pulled up stakes and moved here. Ahhhh the breath of freedom and way nicer people here too. Just thought you should all know what a good thing you have here! No censorship, no one trying to put words in your mouth, no name calling, no personal attacks. Just cars, and people who enjoy cars. No one who is 13 years old, trying to discuss the finer points of 1960's muscle cars. My hat's off to you all!

I think we had one of these before but I was just wondering if theres some druggies in here. Being a Former one I find it funny when people talk about the Sticky Icky and such. Personally I come to find out there are more drug takers than I thought. If you care to go into to detail or bitch me out I personally don't mind. I now know how dumb I was. But for a short list Who hasn't done it The Reefer. Heroin Crack/Cocaine (If you wanna get down, down on the ground, Cocaine) (The Cadillac of Drugs) LSD (Trippy) Acid The First Of the Designer Drugs Don't know what they were called. The Gatorade Duel 150's the races that determine starting positions 3-43 for the Daytona 500 today were won by two Chevy drivers. Tony Stewart visited victory lane for the second time during speedweeks winning the first 150 mile heat race. Jeff Gordon won the second 150 miler on a last lap pass of Kurt Busch. However Gordon's car failed post race inspection when NASCAR officials said the car was about an inch too low, instead of starting Sunday's race from the 4th position he will line up 42nd. Michael Waltrip was allowed to run the qualifying race and he will be in the Daytona 500. Team Toyota Red Bull with drivers Brian Vickers and A.J. Allmindinger did not make the Day…

Im so confused on which midsize pickup to get. I test drove the dakota, tacoma, frontier, and canyon. I like them all. This is a very tough decision. I did a quick run down on what I think of these trucks. Toyota Tacoma Highs: Nice Interior, decent stock sound system, high resale value Lows: ugly exterior Nissan Frontier Highs: 265HP V6, sporty looking Lows: Interior isnt all that great, transmission didnt feel right to me Dodge Dakota Highs: Good looking, nice size Lows: V8 isnt to powerful, V6 is weak, heavy GMC Canyon Highs: Smooth Ride, 5 cylinder engine, off road rugged looks Lows: Price, 4speed auto, resale value sucks My heart tells me to…

Well, it might be changing big time within the next 6 months or so. First, I've got a guy that's pretty interested in the Camaro (finally threw it in AutoTrader last week), so that should hopefully be gone soon, leaving space for another Camaro. A new addition to the driveway would be the '87-92 Camaro IROC 5.7L my dad's looking to find and rebuild. He's taking most of his bonus and splurging on a car when he finds one. Second, the lease on my mom's '05 4.7L Durango is up in June or so, and my parents are seriously considering getting an Acadia in the driveway. As I mentioned in the GMC forum, I took my parents up to the GMC dealer the other day and they loved the way…

Friday was my first day working at the Simoniz (Wash Depot inc.) car wash and detail center in Nashua NH, and boy, I've never seen so many dumb people in my life. For you to understand these first few stories, you have to be able to visualize how the car wash, or at least the track system, works. fairly self explanitory, the person drives their car up (with us guiding them) so the drivers side wheel is in the track between the guard rail, then when we hit the "program" button on the computer, one of the orange roller things pops up and pushes the car through the carwash. First, I cannot believe how many people wind up driving ON or OVER the guardrail thing. Not lik…

Edmunds Evaluation: 2006 Minivan Comparison Test 1st: Honda Odyssey 2nd: Kia Sedona 3rd: Toyota Sienna 4th: Nissan Quest 5th: Chrysler Town & Country If there's an ever-changing segment of the automotive industry, it's the family-friendly world of minivans. In the 29 months since our last hard look at the segment, it has completely turned itself over. The Kia Sedona and Honda Odyssey have been overhauled, while the Nissan Quest and Chrysler Town & Country have been given thorough once-overs. To see which is the king of the modern mommy-mobiles, we brought the four together, along with the winner of the 2004 comparison test, the Toyota Sienna. Each of the …

Detroit Free Press DCX: No option is off the table February 14, 2007 While promising to address Chrysler Group’s losses and make it a healthier unit, parent company DaimlerChrysler AG vowed that no options would be ruled out. The statement was made in response to a report out of Handelsblatt, one of Germany’s leading business publications, said Chrysler Group spokesman Mike Aberlich. Advertisement Some German shareholders have demanded that DaimlerChrysler sell the Auburn Hills-based unit, though most U.S.-based industry analysts dismiss the idea as turning away opportunities for further cost-savings. “Now for the Chrysler Group: The tough competition and the adve…

Barnes&Noble always has a busy parking lot. So yesterday I found a spot and went in to browse. When I came out to leave, I put the truck in Drive and was about to let my foot off the brake when this woman in an Accord driving one-handed with a cell phone in her ear whips in front of me, and parks in the hash lines, which of course is not a legal parking spot. She sees me and continues to gab on the phone while sipping a beverage out of a paper cup. I glare, she looks at me, and ignores me. I blow the horn and mouth out to her while motioning "That is not a parking spot!" She gives me a quizzical look like "Wha?" So I blow the horn some more because I want to le…

Today on my lunch break I headed out to Wawa (a local convenience store chain) to get a bit of food. I have to pass the Toyota dealer, among others, on the route. They had three Tundras sitting out on the grass along the road. On the way back, I pulled onto the lot, jumped out, and walked around one. In two seconds, a cheery young saleslady appeared and held out her hand. I shook it and we introduced ourselves. "So, is this the first time you've seen the new Tundras?" "Yes." "Cool!" "Not really." "What?" "That thing is ugly!" (look of shock, but she regained her composure quickly) "That's the ugliest truck on the market." "Well, that's one opinion." And w…

4. Ford Edge 3. Toyota Highlander 2. Hyundai Santa Fe 1. Nissan Murano I'll try to weigh in more on this tomorrow. The article was WEAK. It flat out said at the end of the article that none of the four stood out and won the competition. But in the interest of needing to print a finishing order, they then ordered them they way they did, in my opinion on bias. They cited the Ford as being heavy and not having as much cargo space due to the fastback roofline. Its like they found one thing to bitch about about the Ford (weight) and played it up WAYYYY TO MUCH. Because the Ford, despite being heavy had some of the best acceleration times and the best handling t…

"I'll bet if your dad asked you, you'd tell him." etc., etc. Then she turned to "well, now that you've joined a gym, have you met any girls there?" "Is your new truck as nice as your old one?" Im in the market looking for a new truck and last night I test drove a '07 Canyon Crew Cab. Wow that thing was nice. Smooth ride, decent amount of power, and quiet engine. The interior looked pretty good to me. I heard so many complaints about it, but it was nice to me. I also test drove a '07 Frontier. That thing was a piece of garbage. The interior felt cheaper than the canyon with all that hard, cheap plastic. The ride was bumpy. I also noticed in the frontier that when i hit the gas kinda hard, the transmission was searching for gears. That seemed kinda odd to me. Here's what they said: I'm sold, how about you. A nice midpacker. On the Silverado, they said, "There's no complaint with the redesigned interiors....But once we settled into the supportive driver's seat, it was clear the cab wasn't noticeably roomier than the previous model's. The 'Camino has a kink in the hood from someone forcing it closed instead of oiling the hinges. It kinked at the built-in factory "fault line" . How reliably can that be fixed? I think I'm going to use the hood from the parts car instead, but if that one is too rough I might want to fix the original. I'm just concerned that it will be too weak to stay straight after being fixed. Watcha think?

I was watching Future weapons and found that they have a bullet that can be basically a point and shoot at 2500 yards on a cold bore shot. Thats very impressive I would bow down to that. But I remember reading about gravity, elevation, temperature, and all those other variables that effect a ballistic path. Its not like you can line up the cross hairs and go. you had to mentally do all the math from your GPS, offset your X hairs, and commit. I believe my longest one is 1,917 yards but about 5 minutes after that shot I don't remember anything but waking up that night in a Medic tent in unbearable pain. Sadly the Guy that saved me that day died on my birthday this year. …

Have you guys heard about the mountain lion that attacked an elderly couple hiking in the Redwoods in northern California? This blew my mind since that area looks more like Oregon, damp, with tall trees and ferns. I always thought these animals hung out where it's more parched and scrubby...like the Gold Country parts of the lower Sierra. The man has gotten better but now his condition is worse. I feel really bad for him. I'm holding good thoughts for him. In fact, there was a fatal mountain lion attack in the mid-1990s on a jogger on the outskirts of Auburn, a mere 30 miles east of Sacramento where people swim and raft in the river there. I have always loved the 2-door Tahoes and Yukons but searching for them online is a hassle. They always slip between the cracks in any search and I end up entering every configuration of 2-door Tahoe(Yukon) as in 2dr Tahoe, 2-door Tahoe, Tahoe 2-door, etc. or sifting through thousands of 4-doors just to find a handful of 2-door listings. What a PITA! So, if you run across any let me know.

Do Something about it? (link) I've been having recent fantacies of driving my new Camaro, but dread the idea of the possibility that I might have to install a front license plate on it. So... I came up with an idea of replacing the front plate with a decal that could go on the windshield, and thought I'd research CA law for $h!s-n-giggles to see exactly why a front plate is required and if such a decal idea would work. Well... I didn't find that information, because I ran into the above link (petition) instead. Who knows if the petition is worth it, or if it's even legit, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of the stupid law!

Folks, riding on the recent Hummer’s success in the Dakar Rally, I want to take team GM a step further. I have always felt that our pickups are very capable off-roading machines. Just look at those Southern boys lift their pickups to form a formidable off-roader or how the Midwesterners haul the stuff with their four-wheel drives or how the hillbillies like to have mud on their tires of their trucks. As some of you know P-D Rally is where vehicles with steel balls survive, and I definitely think our pickups have more than steel balls. I want us Cheersandgears.com folks to enter two GMT 900 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Duramax Diesels for the Paris-Dakar Rally of 2008. I k…

*peers around* Can hardly believe this type of thread hasn't been started yet ... so here goes: CONGRATULATIONS INDIANPOLIS COLTS! It's a disappointing loss for the Chicago Bears, certainly, but it's also disappointing to see the "finger pointing" at Rex Grossman. He wasn't the only one on the field.... *shakes head* While I'm disappointed that the Bears lost, I am happy for my many friends who are staunch Colts supporters. Hmm...baseball season isn't that far away.... Until then, Chicago has the Bulls and Blackhawks to watch, though the Blackhawks aren't doing very well. Oh, and let's not forget Mike Ditka's Chicago Rush indoor football team ! Cort:33swm."Mr Mo…

Fly's post about the 1959 Ford Skyliner insipred this: As much as I do not like the 1959 Fords, I love most any other 1959 domestic. First & forermost the entire GM lineup including the Opel-Buicks. I would rate the GM stuff like this in order of favorites: Buick Cadillac Pontiac Chevrolet Oldsmobile (GMC/Chevy trucks fall somewhere in between Pontiac & Olds) But after that, the next best thing is a 1959 Imperial, which is about as easy to find as a polite Frenchman in Paris if you're wearing an American flag on your baseball cap. Back to reality, a 1959 Dodge 2 door hardtop of any kind is a great thing to aspire to without having your head up in …

Oh, it sure is. Beautiful... I guess. *shrugs* My Grand Am is now a fastback... My house has kitty killers... Yeah, it's nice to look at, but I hate it. It's freezing cold for one. I stepped outside and instantly felt a slap of cold air. I walked to the top of the hill, too. It was windy and felt like it was negative 20. Brr. The dirtroad was mostly ice with gravel sprinkled over it. Slippery. Everything has about 6 to 10 inches of snow covering it. As you can see, drifting snow turned my Grand Am into a fastback. My Millenia's doors are frozen shut and were impossible to open. My house has huge kitty killers on it. Some are taller than me. Then there's th…

Here is a puzzle for those who seek to be mentally challenged as opposed to being mentally challenged. The object here is to alter a word by one letter. You may do so by adding a letter, removing a letter, replacing a letter with another, and/or rearranging the word at the same time. Here is an example: BEST STAB BATS STAG STAGE STATE ESTATE TASTE EAST BEAST BASE To start off with here's the word> Dodge

My neighbor has a big ol' '66 (?) Chrysler in his driveway. Cool alright... but, it has an alarm. It's been going off... constantly, for the last like 3 days. The battery must be going dead, because the whole time it's been sounding like water dripping into a galvanized bucket, and it just won't stop, it goes on, and on... and on...

Well, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but I'm pledging for the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Anyway, the point of the thread is that a couple of us pledge brothers have spoken to current brothers of the house and we're going to try to get a project car.. an old school muscle car to fix up as a "just for fun" type of project. So, give me some crazy suggestions!

H3 'Monster HUMMER' Completes Landmark Run at Dakar For the unfamilar, the Dakar Rally is not so much a rally as it is an endurance race that traditionally originated in Paris and ended in Dakar, Senegal over some of the most unforgiving terrain in the world. Recently, the starting locale has varied, but has mostly originated in continental Europe. There are three classes of competition - Motorbike, truck (large offroad vehicles), and car. Perennial leaders like the Mitsubishi Pajero, Land Rover, and Mercedes G-Wagen compete in the car class. Likewise, the HUMMER H3 competed alongside. The Dakar Rally is comprised of fifteen individual stages. Robby Gordon - with h…

So my girlfriend and I have discussed a few times which is better better to do when slowing down/coasting and/or coming to a stop? Her aunt (who taught her) said it was better to downshift, although she usually put it in neutral. She taught me that way, so it's how I do it. A friend of mine puts it in neutral. So...which do you do? and which is better or worse or the car?

So it was Monday afternoon and we had gone out to do some errands. When we got home I smelt something funny in the room. Then I noticed that my computer was off. I thought it was strange because it was on when we left (it usually is on). I figured maybe a cat shut it off. I pressed the power button...nothing. I see that everything else has power so the power strip is ok. I pull the computer out and have a look, When I flick the Power Supply switch off then on again I hear a faint humming sound. Then I realize what the smell was...my damn PSU fried itself! I couldn't believe it...and teh day before class starts back up too! Needless to say, I was not in a good mood for the…

Car & Driver 10 Best for 2007 Every year the entire Car and Driver staff gathers at a rural site about 30 miles west of our home office in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a week of evaluating all the new cars and, hopefully, avoiding cops. We judge the cars in three general areas: First, how well the car performs its intended functions. We expect sports cars to be fast and exhilarating, while we presume a family sedan will be practical. Second, we show a preference for the more engaging cars in each category; be it better driving manners, a double-take-inducing look, or a powerful engine. Finally, we are suckers for a good deal, so an inexpensive car that’s fast, fun, and …

I saw this on CNN this afternoon. Hoax Devices Part Of Cartoon Ad Campaign (WBZ) BOSTON The suspicious devices which forced bomb units to scramble across Boston today were actually magnetic lights that are part of a marketing campaign for a television cartoon. The reports forced the temporary shutdowns of Interstate 93 out of the city, a key inbound roadway, a bridge between Boston and Cambridge, and a portion of the Charles River but were quickly determined not to be explosive. "It's a hoax -- and it's not funny," Gov. Deval Patrick said. All of the devices are magnetic lights which resemble a character on the show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", on Turner Broadcasting'…
