Well guys, I think I told all of you about where I work. I work for an auto parts company, in fact its CarQuest. The particular store that I work at serves one of the two ambulance companies that operate from where I live. The ambulance company that my store serves has one particular ambulance that really hits a special place with me. Its called Angel One, and its a NeoNatal Transport ambulance. I think there is a lot of talking and overreacting going on around the net about CAFE killing this and CAFE killing that. It seems that a lot of executives might be playing to politics. My friend teaches a Gifted and Talented program in her school... her student is a 5th grader (approximately 10 years old). He wants to know more about engines. I told her that's a very open-ended question, as there's a HUGE amount of information to know for each thing. What my question is, are there any good websites that might explain engines (starting with basic information, like OHV vs. OHC), but isn't too complicated to understand? Well guys, I've thought about it. And quite frankly I'm tired of changing the oil in the driveway and doing brake jobs and such on the back parking pad. I'm building a shop! I'm thinking 40ftx40ft devided down the middle to give me two 20ftx40ft bays. In one bay, I'm going to put a 12,000-lb two post lift, in bay two flat floor. In the comments section below an article about DaimlerChrysler paying a $40 million CAFE fine, there was this comment that was pretty interesting. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/31/nhtsa-r...ler-takes-cake/ Wasn't there a modified CAFE passed that allowed trucks more leniency than cars (down to 25 mpg)? If so, and Chevy really is at about 27 mpg for its car fleet, that's a lot better than I was thinking. Trucks have a way to go, however. It's also interesting to note how big of a difference the Prius makes on Toyota's lineup; I think CAFE can be done, but no doubt GM needs more hybrid / electric vehicles on the road. Well, after my Mom had her car obliterated in a head-on collision (can the "curse" affect you family too?) she will need a new vehicle. And not being in the financial position to buy a new vehicle we decided to go used. Mom wants a Tahoe, specifically a Black Tahoe. Me, the wife & kids got in the AURA yesterday around 2:15 PM and decided to head-up to NYC. We usually go before Christmas every year and typically for the whole day, but as we're getting older and have more to do, we're finding it harder to make the time to get there before the holidays. So I am tooling to work in my Tahoe and suddenly realized a startling fact - out of the 10 cars that were around me on a three lane highway - me and a Pontiac GP were the lone GM cars!!! 2 out of 10! Toyotas were everywhere - including a new white Turdra Doublecab! This is the heartland, and for this many Toyota's on the road in this area it just makes me sad. It doesn't help that the big GM dealers in this area are owned by the same company and they are all A-holes to deal with...but I hate to see this many Japanese cars here in what was a GM stronghold. Anyone else out there having the same problem?

My dad has a line on a black 98 Deville Concours with 47k miles on it. Estate type sale. Seller is listing at 8500 but the person in charge of the sale will go lower. Linkypoo If it were a different color combo, I would want it more, but white over blue isn't exactly hot in my mind. On top of that, I dont think I could ever justify a 40 year old car with a 462 V8 as a daily driver. But damn it looks like its in good shape.

My wife was cleaning out a linen closet today and had some plastic bags on the floor at the top of the stairs. I was walking by and didn't see the plastic bags. When I stepped on them I took off like a rocket. I went down 14 steps crashing into a wall on the next level, shattering a tooth. After 2 hours in oral surgery they had to cut part of my jaw bone out to get the rest of what was left of the tooth out. Lucky for me the tooth was towards the back, so it didn't spoil my naturally good looks. :AH-HA_wink: I will be getting an implant in 3 months to replace the tooth.

As of the middle of November I had my German bank accounts set up. as of now, my friends are purchasing a large two level, 3 bedroom, flat just off of Luxemburger Strasse. I will be renting a bedroom from them on the first floor. The married couple will live on the second floor. Their move in date would likely be around April '08. I will follow a few months later. My 62 year old uncle made a new purchase about a month ago I found out. We don't see them too much do I didn't hear about it until we were at their house for Christmas this evening. I found some great video on one of our major highways and some of the back roads we go on to avoid traffic. Skip 1/2 way through for the better part of this road. Though we use the dirt roads for rallying, we mostly just use them to get where we need to go (mostly wineries). Faiview (the dirt road) is just a few blocks from my place. We live on one of those fancy paved streets in the big city (just over 3000 people).

so, if I was to consider an H3 as my next daily driver, would that be absurd? consider this, they are leasing cheap right now. and they have utility. mpg is better than say, a tahoe and not really that much worse than an SRX or acadia or edge or explorer or something.
