Some fun with friends and family! Enjoy! http://www.freemosquitoringtones.org/ My daughter thought she could add ring tones that we couldn't hear, what a surprise she got when I heard her cell phone ring late at night one night, she took me to this site, I could hear up to 21khz, poor Mrs. PCS could only hear 15khz and below, and she is younger than me.

Maybe some people are used to snow this late but those of us in Washington State aren't. My question is simple, who ordered it and who deserves the punishment? I doon't usually mind snow but last night on the flightline was pretty dang cold and guess what, its doing it again. So much for spring.

OK, give us a car make and model and tell us if you think the car is 'male' or 'female'. It's that easy! I'll start VW Eos - FEMALE VW Tiguan - FEMALE Pontiac G8 - Male Chrysler PT Cruiser - FEMALE Chevy Malibu - FEMALE Ford Fusion - Male and some, it's not so clear, or you think different. Let's have some fun with this!

Alright, so the big All-GM Nationals show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA is coming up on June 20-22. In The O.C.'s post, I mentioned that Camino and I previously talked about getting a C&G Gathering together there in 2008. I have yet to speak with him about it further at this point, but this post is to gauge interest among those of you who'd like to travel to Central Pennsylvannia to attend this awesome show and be part of a much larger C&G gathering than what's occured anywhere else to date. As I mentioned already, if we have 25 GM cars/trucks register as a "car club", we'd receive reduced admissions costs, get to park inside of the show/on the s…

The wife anad I are currently reviewing our financial status and trying to decide what is the amount we are comfortable paying per month for a new vehicle when the Envoy lease expires soon (August). Of course small and cheap would be best (a loan amount not exceeding $20K), but there isn't much out there she likes at that loan amount (she really wants a 2008 Enclave, CTS, S40/V50, or a VUE, just so you know). We don't have a large enough down payment, so even looking at a $23-$24K MSRP would be stretching it. She's not fond of the Malibu ( ), so don't suggest that, and we already are leasing an AURA, so that's out of the question. Anyway, as we were talking yester…

...To no longer being annoyed by the Beast. I joined a credit union yesterday. Now it's just a matter of finding a vehicle I like... perhaps the hardest part of all. I started looking for cars over two months ago and I've really only found two I thought were worth purchasing. They both didn't last very long before they were sold. Otherwise, I can't seem to find anything that I could realistically see myself driving. Most of the time, there's just something about each vehicle that puts me off. Generally, something like price, mileage, transmission (I really don't want another automatic), condition, or desirability (there has to be some appeal to it). I can't find a good…

He also got another guy on the local Cobalt/Ecotec board to turn his SS/SC turbo (in the process being finished up right now). He really does know his stuff and does his own researching on all this. Well the other night I had a dream. Here, I'll quote what I posted on that other board: After posting that, he told me that he's thought many times about getting rid of his turbo and swapping in a twin setup. He's done all the research and knows exactly what he would…

So finally my girlfriend was able to find the school bus that witnessed the accident a few weeks ago. She was able to get the info of it down (the plate, bus number and the company it belonged to). This was yesterday, so by the time I got home the Lawrence School District office was closed, and today I wasn't able to call. I plan to tomorrow, but I'm not sure how to ask or if they are the right people to call. The bus is from North Reading Transportation, which several towns away from us, but makes stops in this area, which leads me to assume that it has a Lawrence bus route for one of the Lawrence Schools...but it didn't say which. When I called North Reading Transportat…

^^^ That is a line from a recent Brad Paisley song, 'Letter To Me'. I could quote a bunch of other songs, since it is a theme that runs through many songs (country and rock and otherwise) and writings.... BUT, as I was listening to that Brad Paisley song the other day, it reminded me that the idea of "better days" and "the best years of one's life" have always made me wonder. Maybe I've never really understood the concept or the human nature of labeling what the "best years" or "better days" are, but it just seems to me that one can't really determine what those are ... until one's life has ended. Sure, you can look back and say, 'Oh, those were better days' or 'Tho…

It's 11:00pm & by 3:45am I'll be preloading UPS trucks so I'll make this juat a quick synopsis for now: XP715 bought a 1977 Cadillac off of me last May, as you probably already know. I had nicknamed it the "Banana Boat" since it was Naples Yellow, my daughter Sofia, who was then 3 years old LOVED the car. She was legitematelly upset with me when I sold it. Over the past few months I've been thinking more and more that I miht want the '77 back... but meantime I kept myself busy with my usual car-orgy of buying & selling. But after having owned 40+ cars in my 12+ years since I turned driving age the Banana Boat remained the biggest case of "t…

http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?arti...281474977067637 Got that in an e-mail this morning. How would we go about disproving a few of the broad, sweeping statements made; particularly the ones where American car manufacturers can't handle costs, blah blah blah. You can tell people facts all day long but they just jump up and down and point to back issues of Consumer Reports, so I need hard facts in black & white (newspaper articles, etc.) to forward this back to all the people it's gone to.

While watching a new show on speed called pass time (which is very good) i have been introduced to a new form of drag racing. There have been a few electric cars come on the show. One was an electric powered s10 and the other was a pro comp rail style dragster with no less than 450 batteries and an electric motor that was the equivalent of 31 ci. Now being the big fan of big block power houses i am i totally underestimated these cars even though i am aware of an electric car on tv that i saw called "white Zombie" which consistently runs 11.5's. the pro comp style electric drag car ran if i recall correctly right at 9 maybe an 8.80. low and behold here are a few clips from…

My Acadia has the power tailgate, which I love for when I have three 150+ lbs dogs on leashes and need to load them into the back. Today, I was arranging boxes of stuff in the rear cargo area with the tailgate open. My daughter had the other set of keys and thought it would be funny to close the tailgate on dear old Dad. I was listening to my iPod at the time and did not hear the audible warning that the tailgate was closing. I only realized it was closing when I felt it hit by rear end, stop, and then raise back up. Thank goodness for that safety feature, or I would have been gobbled up like one of those little balls in a Hungry Hungry Hippos mouth. Let the prank …

So.....loaded G8 V6 is $30,665....with leather, sunroof, everything...... Loaded Malibu LTZ is $28,495......without the extra-cost paint..... So roughly a $2K difference......is it worth it...? Well, I'd say "yes"...... Of course if you are looking at a lesser-equipped Malibu, there is really no G8 alternative......but it is an interesting question to ponder......

Did you know that the word gay is automatically blurred on GM Inside News Forums for being inappropriate!? By JAMES STANFORD 16 March 2008 GM HOLDEN has confirmed it will export its new Ute and a new high-performance version of the G8 sedan to the US. GMH chairman and managing director Mark Reuss also vowed to further extend the company’s export portfolio when he announced the deal at Fishermens Bend this morning. The Ute will be sold as a Pontiac G8 "sport truck" variant, although its actual title is yet to be decided. Pontiac will ask the public to come up with an apt title for the car-based ute. The Pontiac ute, which was styled by Holden designers in Australia, picks up a similar front-end to the G8 sedan. It will presented in the US for the first time at the New…

Visions of things to come in North America? Lawrence J. Speer Automotive News Europe March 17, 2008 06:01 CET PARIS -- CO2 taxes are convincing car buyers across Europe to shift from mid-size and larger vehicles to smaller models with lower emission levels. Industry experts predict the shift will accelerate over the coming years, as most EU member states enact emission-oriented tax regimes to fight climate change. " The market is changing, and we feel the market will continue changing," said Patrick Blain, Renault's executive vice president of sales and marketing. Fourteen of the EU's 27 member states currently tax vehicles based on CO2 emissions, fuel con…

So I was thinking earlier and came up with a ton of questions about battery-powered and hybrid, non-ICE vehicles... 1. Can they haul like our diesels? Can they off-road? 2. How would you "mod" one? Add some RAM like a computer? Obviously not, but who knows... 3. When they become widespread, will they be able to power the planes that you fly from here to Europe? 4. Will they be able to be used in the water, ATV, and very cold conditions (not only in cars way up north, but also snowmobiles and the like)? 5. Of course they'll be more expensive at first, but after technology gets going, will they be cheaper than mass-produced ICEs? 6. What will happen to gas stati…

Reuters March 17, 2008 - 6:25 am ET NEW DELHI (Reuters) -- General Motors wants to launch a second small car in India in the next two years as it looks to capitalize on growth in emerging markets to offset any sluggishness in U.S. sales, a senior company official said. The model will not compete directly with Tata Motors' low-cost Nano but will be cheaper than GM's current lowest priced car in India, David Reilly, GM group vice-president, told a news conference on Monday. Small cars less make up nearly three-quarters of India's market. GM offers the Chevrolet Spark in the sector for about 300,000 rupees ($7,350). "We need some thing lower than what we have got…

This past week, I found myself in "defensive driving" situations ... one worked out very well, the other almost ended not so well.... The first, the one that almost ended up badly, happened en route to work. I was on a 4-lane road in Schaumburg in the right-hand lane, which was full of cars waiting to turn right (myself included). We were moving, but not at the speed limit. I noticed that the car behind me darted into the left-hand lane, but thought nothing of it, because I thought the driver was going to be turning left at the upcoming intersection. I was wrong. Instead, the driver apparently realized I was going slow because of the line in front of me. Before I …

So, a '03 Tahoe pulls onto the lot yesterday. A nice couple gets out, wanders around the show room. I greet them. They've had the truck for a year, they say, and their salesperson (whom they readily admit they don't like) told them that after a year or so they should be able to trade the truck in. Stopped by the dealer, for the first time in a LONG time (Saturn, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac) to get my first good look at an Astra. I like the 3 door quite a bit, but I'm not floored by it like I thought I would be. The 5 door is just down right bland IMO. It seems that the americans can take Opel designs and put the "final touch" on the theme to make it look awesome. For example, both the Sky and the Outlook are MUCH more striking and impressive to look at and even the Aura radiates a certain elegance that the Astra only dreams of and the Vue looks better made and more substantial eventhough I'm not a huge fan of the design. This scares me, because a…

Information: http://www.geocities.com/conceptcarcentralusa/sagebrush.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just found this concept online today. I have never seen it in person, unfortuantely. Apparently this made the rounds on the 1991 auto show circuit to highlight the soon-to-be-release/all-new 1992 GMC Yukon 2-door. This isn't in any of the GMC books I have, and I find that disappointing. Has anyone here ever seen this truck before? This and the 1991 GMC Rio Grande concept/showtruck were shown together and shared development and parts.

If so: Please answer 3 questions! This query is due to several comments within the last few weeks or so that those of us in Chicagoland (and nearby states) really "ought to get together" ... key words, "ought to". So many times this ends up being well-intentioned "talk". Yes, some gatherings have been successful, but it seems the bulk of 'em either never get off the ground or end up with people disappointed at the lack of ACTUAL attendance/interest.... And, yes, I KNOW "life happens" and that driving distance is a factor for some.... BUT ... after a successful gathering of 2 groups [heart-related, of which I'm a member of both] for a late lunch today (Saturday, M…

...potholes. Yes, potholes ... those unsightly, menacing, treacherous holes in the roadway that absolutely love to feast on tires and suspension systems. I don't know about YOUR area, but in Chicagoland ... potholes seem to have overtaken the area roadways. On one road I frequent to and from work, one 3-4 mile stretch has been claimed by AT LEAST ONE MAJOR pothole every few FEET. And, each time one is repaired ... another one is proud to take its place. Heh ... as frustrating (and dangerous) as they are, it has become somewhat commonplace humorous to watch drivers find new ways to "outsmart" the potholes. In all my years of driving (admittedly, not that many, rel…

Between the death of a beloved/valued member on one of my heart boards and a phone call from a friend who I haven't heard from in a long time because he is no longer on any message board, it has been quite an interesting week. These instances reminded me of several members from all of the different boards who either are truly no longer with us, or just have "fallen off the face of the earth" due to not posting or visiting the forums anymore.... When I notice people haven't posted in a while, I'll wonder what happened to 'em and hope/pray that all is well. Heh ... given a few other things going on now and over the course of the last month or so, I've thought about takin…

I'm excruciatingly bored right now and I happened to notice that innocent ol' Ocn surpassed the comatose Fly as master of the post count. In other news, as of yesterday, a distributor has been ordered and is on it's way. I'm quite excited to bring life back to my Milly. Well, if I don't have any more obstacles to tackle. Hopefully the battery will still hold a charge. It's ancient and has been dead for a good 9 months now. As well, having sat for so long certainly couldn't have been any good for it. I'll be sort of sad if any new issues pop up. Whatever it takes, though. I need to get it back on the road so I can stop polluting poor little Ramsaytown and hand the Cutla…

...to figure out what to do next. No, not me; Mark Suppelsa, now former Fox 32 Chicago anchorman. This week, he turned down what is termed by the media a "lucrative" contract to continue as the main anchorman for Fox 32's 9p newscast. According to him during a visit Tuesday morning on WTMX's Erik and Kathy Show, it isn't about the money. Instead, he feels blessed to have the means and the time to take 3 months off [he has to wait 90 days before going back on the air, per his contract with Fox 32] to relax, enjoy his family ... and decide what he wants to do with his life. This news, and especially the interview Tuesday morning I heard on the radio en route to work,…

Has anybody seen him? I haven't been on here much lately since my computer has been broken, but I haven't seen a post from him in ages. I read something a while back that he got a new job, but he hasn't logged in since January 14th.

I bought my Duramax Silverado late in 04 (2005 model) and diesel was 1.99/ gal. This morning I paid 4.16/gal. This is criminal. Diesel costs less to produce than gasoline and now top it dramatically in price. Someone is getting fat, and ripping us off bigtime.

I'm just going to say it. The US needs to "grow a pair" on so many fronts, or just start to fade away into the mists of history. I'm tired of all the screwing around with BS and minutae, let's actually do something meaningful for a change. Grrr. And ,hey, let's act as a nation for once instead of a bunch of shallow bastards that can't see beyond the end of their own noses.

http://www.tomdispatch.com/post/174904/mic...risis_hits_home The Bad News at the Pump The $100-plus Barrel of Oil and What It Means By Michael T. Klare On Monday March 3, the price of crude oil reached $103.95 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, surpassing the record set nearly 30 years ago during another moment of chaos in the Middle East. Will that new mark prove distinctive in the annals of world history or will it be forgotten as energy prices drop, just as they did following their April 1980 peak? When oil costs are plotted over time, the 1980 oil crisis -- prompted by Ayatollah Khomeini's Iranian revolution -- stands out as a sharp spike on t…

OK, I'm going to open up a big can of worms, but hey it's part of my charm, plus I have a big can opener. :AH-HA_wink: Would you support GM moving it's Global Headquarters to another region and out of North America, say to either GM Eruope's headquarters or GM Asia-Pacific's headquarters, this would help in taking away GM's stigma of being an American auto maker and truly make it a global company. This would be something akin to what Oldsmobile did, when it didn't put Oldsmobile on it's products. GM would be saying we are a Global company, by taking GM out of North America, so to speak. So what are your thoughts on it, would you support such a move?

Whenever I hear that old chestnut describing a GMC pickup, I take it as a reference to a trusted friend, and I was glad to have my Sierra in the last few days. Sunday, my seven-year old wash machine quit with a tub full of soapy water. After going online and then checking everything I could think of, I decided it was time to head to Lowe's and buy a new washer and dryer (coincidentally, my mom's dryer quit at the same time). So off I went. I felt very good, being able to carry my new stuff home without depending on others. The hard part was getting the washer into the laundry room by myself (I ended up wheeling it in on my creeper, and boy was I sore the next day), b…

What is, in your opinion, one of the worst cars from the Eighties era? For me, it's the Renault Fuego. Rather looked much like a bloated pig and tended to sound like one too after a few years age. Gotta love it when someone makes a five minute video tribute to their car that becomes utterly redundant after fifteen seconds.

NEW YORK - The cost of filling up the family car climbed to a record high Tuesday, adding to the challenges consumers already face with falling home values and rising food prices. Gas prices at the pump rose overnight to a record national average of $3.2272 a gallon, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. That’s a tad higher than the previous record of $3.2265, set last May. Soaring gas prices worsen the financial plight of consumers already suffering through a downturn in the housing market that has sharply reduced home prices in many markets and limited Americans’ ability to tap home equity for spending. Food prices are also on the rise, partly due …

My daughter will start driving this year and going off to some university in two years. Mrs. PCS is starting to have empty nest issues and keeps whispering in my ear it's not to late to have one more. She is hard to resist once she has her mind set on something. I'm 38 so I would be 56 by the time the next one would be going off to college. So I guess my question is are there any older dads out there and if there are, looking back would you have had another child again, knowing what you know now? If you want to PM me your answer, that's cool too.

So....if you are straight....have you ever felt an attraction to another guy? Doesn't HAVE to be sexual....can be a strong emotional attraction....or sexual...whatever. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to "be with" a guy? And if you are gay.....have you ever had the same feelings for a woman? When I was in high school, before I came to terms with being gay, I had a girlfriend. Now we never had sex because she was absolutely sure she wanted to remain a virgin until she was married. We dated, went out, and the most we "did" was kiss goodnight at the end of the evening. Funny thing is....I never desired having sex with her.....mostly (unknown to me at th…

With the mention of the gatherings in various parts of the US, I started wondering if anyone here was thinking about going to Hot August Nights, and would be interested in using that show as a meeting event. The show dates are August 2 - 10. To me HAN has to be one of the best shows ever. All of the entries are 1972 and older American and European cars and trucks. Panther would probably have to be restrained. (j/k) This years entry limit is 5500 and if anyone thinks that is all that will be down there, they are nuts. It's one show where you have to put aside at least some of your prejudice for the car you own, simply because there is way too much you will miss unless …

All of the sudden I am having tons of trouble viewing certain websites. Unfortunately, one of them is CZ28.com - a site I really enjoy. It seems like only those sites with offsite linked ads are giving me trouble, especially "ads by Google". CZ28 has been one of the most reliable sites I've ever been on until now. This change came at me "out of the blue" and I can't figure out what the trouble is. Pages can literally take minutes to load if these ads are present, but other pages of the same site without ads seem fine. WTF?

That's it, I'm done...... :AH-HA_wink: Yep, Actually found a Toyota that I liked....and the wife wants one pretty bad. I hear a replacement for the Cavvie Sedan (or the Cobalt, if it doesn't stop pissing me off..) I went the the local dealership, and test drove a 2009....... Vibe You can stop worrying now.... Anyways, this little car surprised me. I wasn't expecting much, as the last gen was so-so. The local dealership got their first 1.8 auto one in....a nice gray....My random comments: - Holy cow-this thing has a buttload of cuploaders! Add a keg, and you could have a party in there! The usual ones up front, ones that…

All right, so before I ask my question, I would like to point out that I am not "technically inclined" when it comes to cars. I know where vital fluids go and how to change them, but that is the extent of it. So, I'm kind of a n00b when it comes to most things. I was thinking about this on my drive home from work. I drive a car with a column-mounted shifter. Where exactly is the gearbox? Is it in the same place as a car with a floor-mounted shifter? Or in a different place? How does the gearbox know to disengage park for instance in either form? I honestly want to know, and you know, become a little more educated about the car I drive. [/noob]

What are the US regulations regarding the size and placement of marker lights? Many Euro cars have front side markers high and to the rear of the front fenders, do they have to add something in the front to meet regs? I'm wondering how flexible the design parameters can be for these lights in the US market.
