What's your favorite piece of crap car? I've always liked certain iterations of the GM W-Bodies. The Cutlass Supreme Coupe with the 3.4 DOHC V-6 (available with a 5-speed Getrag). The supercharged Grand Prix Coupes. The Lacrosse with the 5.3 liter V8. They were always labors of love, but they were great in their own way.

Slow right now at my work and slow on the forum so I figured I start something fun similar to what we did last year. Rules: 1. You have to pick TWO car manufacturers: ONE is your favorite, the one you will most likely buy a vehicle from and the SECOND is your least favorite, one that you are least likely to buy from. 2. Pick TWO vehicles from EACH car manufacturer: daily driver and fun/weekend/utility car or truck. Please be honest in your choices to make it harder and more fun.

Some broad blew through a red light as I had a green. Plowed her going 40-45mph. Luckily both parties were okay aaaand I had a witness who was behind her and saw her blow the light. Good night Roxy, you treated me well. I apologize for the sideways pictures.. they're not sideways on my phone. I even tried rotating them and saving them..

Gentlemen; I will be going on a self imposed exile from C and G for 3 or 4 months, this time for real. No one here has done anything wrong, but I want you all to know what I am doing, as I consider everyone here pretty much a friend and someone I respect. I have a kitchen remodel that has been going on for a year and just needs to get done. I am doing everything myself (tile, electrical, plumbing, building the cabinets from scratch, et al.) My wife deserves to have this Complete, and I am in the home stretch. My sons friend Brian has taken up woodworking with me, and he is building guitars almost competently with and tools from scratch. he is very talented…

I was thinking about this the other day about cars that I miss.. options that should be still in cars, or even styling cues U miss, but manufacturers did away with them. RULES: Format will be One or Two things. As in 1) "A Car" (not an entire brand tho) 2) "A Option" 3) MUST BE REALISTIC.. and be capable of actually making money for the company. No FANTASY U can do either or both.. but no more than 6 Sentences about the car or option and what made it great. This is a "piggy back..." So we can't say the same option, but we can say the same car ####################################################### I'll Start: 1) The Humm…

We all hear the holiday songs over and over this month, but sometimes your mind plays tricks on you. What lyric do you always hear wrong even if you know the right words. For me, it's "No Place like home for the holidays" I always hear the lyric "... from Atlantic to Specific... gee the traffic is terrific...."

I decided I'm going to start a video blog of what I'm doing with all of these apartments. Here's the first, rough video from today. This is one that has gotten the most changes. Four walls removed, converted to an open floor plan, getting an all new tile bath/shower and a new kitchen, refinishing the hardwood floors throughout. Plus this one has a two car garage attached.

I'm hoping people may have just needed a break from these or have been busy, so I'm putting up a new one today to stir up some action. This one is going to have a few more rules, though. Really get some of you guys thinking. Rules- 1- Production models only 2- These are your only vehicles 3- Limit of 5 choices 4- You must pick AT LEAST 2 new vehicles with an MSRP of $55,000 or less, not counting MFR incentives. 5- Any market and era is allowed for used cars 6- Used picks must have reasonable availability and be in decent shape for the price. 7- Only one of your used car picks can be LESS THAN 3 years old. 8- One of your u…

Howdy all C&G Forum fans, time to get the Sci-Fi debate on! So we have what has been well received as the official reboot of Star Trek. Characters that truly represent the original crew of the Enterprise and some kick ass entertaining movies. Officially original Spock has died and a solid tribute to him was done in the last movie. Sadly the actor playing Chekov died over the summer due to an accident with his jeep and pinning him down till he suffocated and died. So lets discuss where we think this story is going to go, take the easy way with refiliming the same story lines, new story lines, what? How will they deal with Chekov's death? Will they mark it as …

Our usual comparos and dream garage threads typically center around sport sedans and super cars, but these heavy hitters are exciting in their own right. One has been around a while now and is a familiar face- the Bentley Continental GT. The other is a newcomer- the S63 AMG, in drop top form in this case. C&D got the two together for a shootout recently, and I thought this would make for a fun 'WYR' thread. Here's the link- C&D: Bentley Conti GTC vs MB S63 AMG Cab So, which you rather have- Bentley Conti GTC V8 or MB S63 AMG Cabriolet

So Frisky did displacement and horsepower threads. As much as it is fun to put a dream car garage worth millions, few if any of the members here can afford any of these cars. So lets do a series of budget restricted garages that most of us could actually afford. Rules: 1. Production cars only. 2. These are you only vehicles. 3. Maximum of 5 choices. 4. Any era and market is allowed. 5. At least ONE NEW car/truck. 6. Maximum price is $20k. (MSRP for the new one, for the used one should be a reasonable used price with reasonable mileage and condition - no cars without engine, or Ferrari with 300k miles for $5K )

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com C&G Hottest Rides List! The goal here is to have members post what they would have on a list of hottest rides. Anything is a go, yet with that said I would like you to look into your own history of auto's and what you feel would be respectable rides. We can always do a list of ubber luxury hot rod rides, I would like this to be more of a common persons ride list. With that I will start it off with what I would have on this list: 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe 1987 Buick Regal GNX Grand National 1991 GMC Syclone 1992 GMC Typhoon 20…

In honor of Turkey Day, I thought I'd make a special 'UDG' thread. The premise here is simple, you will only be allowed to pick cars that are built overseas, and must make the trip to YOUR nation via water. Rules- 1)Production models only. 2)These are your only vehicles. 3)Maximum of 5 choices. 4)Nothing older than 20 MODEL YEARS OLD......a wildcard for fun. 5)Your picks must have been built OVERSEAS and transported across a body of water to reach you market.

In this edition of dream car garage, you are the vehicle coordinator for a major Hollywood studio. They will be filming a mainstream movie similar to Friday Night Lights or Hoosiers (the Indiana basketball movie from the 1980's). The movie will be set in a fictional High School in the Los Angeles area which has a wide variety of races, income levels, and social problems. The movie will be set in late 2016-early 2017. You are being asked to provide 6 things here....5 vehicles, one vehicle color. Vehicles will be needed for the following 5 characters; Hank-African American, successful, 48, the father of students on the team.....he works as a booster and freq…

Alright, we're moving on. For us guys who really like the smaller stuff and cars with that 'point and squirt' vibe, this one may cause some headaches. There is an absolute plethora of fantastic cars in this range that will surely make it difficult to narrow down a list. In terms of sheer driver's cars, this may very well be the most stacked bracket we will be working with. Have fun! Rules- 1) Max of 5 choices. 2) Must be production units. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Any era and market is allowed. 5) Cars MUST have AT LEAST 200 HP, but NO MORE THAN 299 HP. As rated by the MFR.

I'm in need of locating a new trim part for my wife's '13 Buick LaCrosse and don't want to visit the dealership. The trim part is for the trunk, it's the plastic cover for the right/passenger side hinge, as seen in the attached pictures. We bougth the car a year ago November 7th and the wife pointed out two weekends ago that the trim was missing. Of course the selling dealer (CarSense) said that their warranty ran out at 6 months and I should pursue this with GM/Buick under the balance of the factory warranty (I disagree, as the part's missing it did not break). Anyway, I'd appreciate suggestions on any GM parts online sources.

Two new 'UDG' threads today!! With C&D getting up their newest '10 Best' list, I had an idea. The list is really diverse enough that one could assemble a nice little garage with the choices. So with that in mind, let's do so!! Rules- 1) You have the usual 5 choices. 2) Choices are limited to cars that were included in the 10 Best list. So no Mustang GT, Corvette Z06, etc. However, it can be any iteration of the Camaro, 3, Accord, etc. 3) These are your only vehicles. I know, no trucks/SUV's here, but I have to keep everyone from picking only outright sports cars. That's it! Enjoy! LINK- C&D 10 Best …

I'm starting a new 'UDG' series that will have consecutive installments. As you can tell, it will be based on that measure of energy we love so much- horsepowerz. BHP. Ponies. Whatever nickname you like to use, it's a metric that has been used pretty much since the inception of the automobile. This round we are focusing on the little guys. Though they may not have have cover-worth big power ratings, there are no shortage of cars that are great to drive that have below 200HP. In fact, there are some All-time Greats that fall into this category. Rules- 1) Maximum of 5 choices. 2) These are your only vehicles. 3) Production cars only. 4) Any er…

C&D got their hands on a new 2017 Encore. Here is the link- 2017 Buick Encore Test A fairly positive review. So let's assume you are shopping for a small, but fairly nice personal car to commute to work and back in. Reasonably priced and efficient, but nice and well-equipped. Base price is $27,385, and as-tested was $29,080. Rules- 1) Your choice must be a NEW on-sale now 2016 or 2017 model. 2) You are limited to sub-compact CUV's or compact NON-PERFORMANCE hatchbacks for this one. So no Rav4/Escape/CR-V or GTI/FocST. 3) You are allowed choice of drivetrains- FWD or AWD. 4) MSRP on your choice MUST be AT LEAST $27,000, …

The 'OTY' thread got me to thinking about this. In terms of credibility, lack of bias, testing procedures, judging criteria, etc, etc, who do you feel is the best automotive review source out there? A big name like MT or C&D? Something more specialized like Top Gear or EVO? Something smaller like Autoblog, TTAC, Everyday Driver? And what is your reasoning behind your choice? Keep in mind I am limiting this to testers/reviewers, not sources for reliability, quality, etc.

I watched this test a while back, and really enjoyed it. To my knowledge, the only one who managed to get this whole group together. 'Everday Driver' did a comparo a while back of the Golf R, Evo, Focus RS, and STI. I know these are usually 2 car option threads, but we're going to deviate from that this go-round. Here's the test- Golf R vs Evo vs FocRS vs STI So, which of the following would you rather have? Golf R STI Evo X Final Edition Focus RS

One of only a few tests I've seen with test results on the new 911 R- C&D 911 R Test Of course, this car is the anti-numbers sports car. Some may like that, others may not. Base price is $185,950, as-tested was $198,695. Now, this car is sold out already, and most brought far more than that, but were going to work with a range based off these numbers. Rules... 1) You choice must be a NEW, on-sale-now MY 2016 or 2017 sports/super car. 2) This is obviously a toy car. Assume your daily needs are already met. 3) Your car of choice MUST have an MSRP of at least $180,000 and NO MORE THAN $230,000.

As much as the actual military-oriented ones were, I planned on doing an auto one for the occasion. In honor of Veterans Day, it will be based upon Domestic nameplate vehicles. Rules- 1) Maximum of 5 choices. 2) These are your only vehicles. 3) Production cars sold in the US only. 4) Cars must be a model name or at least generation that is NO LONGER BUILT- this is the Veteran part, obviously. 5) As long as the vehicle is no longer on sale, any era is allowed. When I moved to Michigan for the second time, I felt pretty comfortable with what I was going to be doing and what my plans were. "I've done everything before," I thought, figuring that jumping back into everything would be as smooth as a BMW inline-6. The move? Super smooth. The finances? Oh so silky smooth. Getting back to work? As smooth as that ticking, knocking time bomb that is otherwise known as the Quad-4 found in my first car. From the very beginning, nothing was working in my favor. Trends changed, routes vanished, and nothing was there for me to find it. The one day I did see something? I didn't have a long enough lens to shoot. Someone else did and gave the wo…

This is one of the best, most well-written opinion pieces I've read among the car publication circles in quite some time. Take a bit to read this- Build the Brand, Burn the Brand and let me know what your thoughts are on the matter. I think it almost perfectly sums up my stance. I've said it time and again with regards to BMW, Mercedes, and the like. When you build and sell so many cars, your product inevitably begins to lose it's cachet and exclusivity that make people desire it in the first place.

Rules are few. 1. Up to 5 choices 2. production cars only 3. State your case for that vehicle like it was on trial for murder and you are it's only defense. 4. Have fun! And go!

After a piece on this here just posted, C&D did an instrumented test on what may very well be the exact same car. Here's the link for those who want to check it out- C&D IS200 Test The review and impressions were very similar. The car has a base price of $42,945. As-tested was $47,235. So let's imagine you're buying a premium/lux sedan in the 43-48K range. Rules- 1) Car must be a 2016 or 2017 MY on sale now. 2) Must be a 4 door body style. I will allow a hatch/wagon. 3) Must be a sport-lux/premium/sport sedan of some sort. 4) MSRP MUST be at least $43,000, but no more than $48,000.

In this edition you will pick 5 cars born without a VIN. Can be anything from a Sand rail powered by an air cooled VW motor to a top fuel dragster. Most kit cars would qualify, as would most brass era cars from the early days of motoring. You could pick something interesting like a vintage group B rally car, or a modern NASCAR stock car. Home built specials, engineering prototypes, factory concept cars, the sky is the limit. MSO from kit car maker is not considered a VIN in this thread. Eyes without a face.....cars without a VIN....what 5 cars will you pick? Factory 5 type 65 coupe, car #1. http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/type-65-c…

So, we have been having some good discussions here, some a little bit heated, some that bring a lot of light to the subject. to lighten thing sup a bit we bring you Dream car garage, Snap On truck edition. My old boss from several years ago used to love to scuba dive. He found an entirely intact Snap on truck full of tools off of a bridge on a fairly deep river that was a tributary to lake Michigan. Cold water kept the tools in decent shape, he was able to actually turn several of them back in to Snap On for exchange. Guy from Snap On was like "wow, this is some unique stuff, tools we have not sold since the 1950's." This is your chance to let the little k…

Rules- *Production cars only. *Any era and market are allowed. *These are your only vehicles. *Maximum of 5 choices. *Choices must have engine displacement ranging from 2.0 to 2.9 liters. Lots of awesome choices available here, so there should be some good lists.

Good acts are hard to follow. Especially in the auto business. Maybe more so in the auto business, actually. The steady march of technology is sometimes nullified by more stringent regulations, falling profits, a change in focus, and sometimes just as a result of straight up flubbing it. So with that in mind, I ask you what your dream garage would look like if you were only able to use today's cars' immediate predecessors. The rules- 1) Production models only. 2) These are your only vehicles. 3) Maximum of 5 choices. 4) Any variation of that previous model is allowed, even if the exact trim was not offered again. 5) Your choice …

So this isn't a Dream Garage thread or anything, but in keeping in spirits with it being Halloween, post up some of your favorite cars that you think pair nicely with this kinda-sorta-holiday. Maybe you think they just have a sinister, dark look or demeanor to them. Maybe they were offered in color schemes that befit the occassion. Whatever the reason, post 'em up!! I'll start. I always thought the LF-A kinda looked like an angry jack-o-lantern. Which I totally love. It's one of all-time favorite cars. Not to mention that V10 banshee wail!

So, Car and driver tested both of these this week. Fusion Sport http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-ford-fusion-sport-with-summer-tires-tested-review MKZ 3.0T AWD http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-lincoln-mkz-30t-awd-test-review The Lincoln was basically 18k more expensive. The MKZ was roughly 200 pounds heavier, but even with that it seems the acceleration differences should be more 3 or 4 tenths of the Fusion with it's 75 less HP. The Lincoln did pull slightly higher G on the skidpad (.93 vs .89), but took an extra foot to stop from 70. Honestly, i like the MKZ some better and would pay a few grand premium ove…

So I had a request to make these more difficult. So in an effort to do that, I'm creating one that will be different for everybody, but still be based off the same rules. It will span different amounts of time for different posters, so everyone will have different options available to them. Here's the rules- 1) You get to select ONE vehicle from 5 different points in your life. They are as follows... 2) You get one vehicle from your birth year. 3) You get one vehicle from the year when you turned 16. 4) You get one vehicle from the year when you turned 21. IF you are 30, OR older, you can choose one from the year you turned 25. 5) You get one vehi…

Reminding us that SUV/CUV/SAV/WTFEverV's don't always have to suck, Porsche and Jaguar's latest respective offerings were involved in a battle of sorts over at C&D. I won't spoil the results, so here's the link- C&D: Jaguar F-Pace vs Porsche Macan GTS So the question is, which would you rather have? Porsche Macan GTS Jaguar F-Pace S

C&D recently did a test on the rarest of 911's. Not a GTx, or "Insert Random Special Edition Here", or even the new R. No, the rarest 911 of all is a stripper model. A near-base, non-S C2 w/ a 7MT. Turns out, it's still a damn fine car. Here's the story for those interested- C&D 911 Carrera Instrumented Test This car just conveniently happens to occupy a price bracket just above our previous entry, the M4 Comp Pkg. Base price is $90,450, as-tested was $96,650. We'll use a range of 90K up to 110K. Rules will be.... 1) As always, must be a NEW 2016 or 2017 MY car on sale now. 2) Choice must be a 2 DR performance coupe or sports…

Far too often these are hard only for narrowing down all the amazing choices on offer. Not this one. Oh, no. Today friends, you are going to be limited only base models. And I mean base. Bottom of the barrel. No options, no exceptions. Rules- 1- These are your only vehicles. 2- You are allowed a maximum of 5 choices. 3- Production vehicles only. 4- Car can come from any market. 5- You are allowed to pick ONE vehicle that isn't NEW. Leaving the full list open to older cars will cause too much confusion and likelihood of rule-bending. 6- You can also choose to MODIFY ONE of your choices. 7- You may only choose TWO high-end spor…

We're going with a couple of err....couples this time around. Each pairing will have a lesser, more usable option and high performance sports/super car option. However, there's a catch. There is a delta between each of those respective options. So, would you rather.... Combo 1- Cadillac CTS 3.6 (trim, drive and options of your choice) C7 Corvette Z06 (body style, trims, and trans of your choice) OR Combo 2- Ford Focus SE (body style and powertrain of your choice) Ford GT

So, it is with great concern that I must address this issue publicly. An automaker, who should know better, has a vehicle that is beginning to develop rust bubbles at just three years of age. This automaker is Ford and the vehicle in question is Josh's 2013 Escape. Is it just me or is that not a decade too soon for this sort of thing? As for background, the vehicle has obviously lived in the salt-ridden world of Pennsylvania for the majority of its life–as have each and every one of our other vehicles over the years. It should also be stated that, in his ownership, its been washed at least bi-weekly. He takes better care of his vehicles than I do, he's excessively OC…

Just curious. If you recall, post your first monthly car loan payment amount, and your most recent (assuming the two are for different vehicles). 1994 : $231/month : '94 F-150. Sticker price was $16,016. current : $141/month : wife's '11 Jeep (bought in Feb).

In this thread, instead of 5 dream cars, tell us about 5 cars you had the chance to buy, could afford to buy at the time, and didn't. This should be actual cars that you really did look at, considered...and then were an idiot for not buying.

So, given how much fun we seem to have had with the other ultimate dream garage threads, I am going to start another one. Your Crazy uncle is offering to give you a Cadillac ATS brand new free and clear, but it must be the only performance car that you own. This will be a three part question. Part #1, Spec out your ATS and tell us about it! Part #two, you must pick 2 (only two) GM cars built between and including 1975 to 2004. The rub is, no performance vehicles allowed. Corvette is off the table, even if ti is the 305 cubic inch California emissions model. V8 Camaros and Firebirds are off the list with one exception. Fiero is excluded, as is say a Turbo…

C&D just did an instrumented test on the new Volvo S90, and I thought this would be a good basis for a 'WWYBI' thread. Link- C&D 2017 Volvo S90 Test The car as tested ran 65K, but starts at 52K. So let's use a range of $52,000-67,000. Rules- 1) Car must be a sedan. 2) Must be a new, on-sale MY 2016 or 2017 model. 3) Must be AT LEAST $52,000 MSRP, but NO MORE THAN $67,000 MSRP.

The fine folks over at C&D just got a piece on the new M4 Comp Pkg up- C&D M4 Compt Pkg Test Almost 90K for a coupe built off base sport/lux sedan bones seems steep, even for an admitted BMW fan such as myself. So let's see what you gents make of this scenario. Base price is $74,845, but as-tested was $89,995. So let's use a range of $75,000-90,000. Rules are as follows- 1) Must be a 2 door performance coupe of some kind. 2) Must be a new 2016-17 MY car on sale now. 3) MSRP MUST be AT LEAST $75,000, but NO MORE THAN $90,000.

Frisky's posts gave me an idea to do one related to something I want to do one day: cross country trip. So the rules are as follows: 1. You have to choose TWO cars: one NEW and one USED. 2. Cars have to be STOCK. 3. Budget for EACH of the cars is: New car: $40k. Used car: $20k. 4. Cars have to be comfortable and reliable enough to cross the United States from coast to coast at least twice (East to West and West to East). Have fun.

Okay guys, I'd really like to see some more participation in these. The last one had almost no replies.I'm trying to motivate some extra action in here. This installment of UDG is going to feature a premise that I really have no idea how it hasn't dawned on me before. This edition will be strictly limited to special editions of different sorts. Whether it's an Anniversary Edition, Commemerative Edition, Collector's Edition, Final Edition, whatever. Only limited edition models allowed. Rules- 1)Maximum of 5 vehicles. 2)Production vehicles only. 3)Any era and market is allowed. 4)These are your only vehicles. 5)NO normal seri…

I shamelessly got this idea from a piece over at Jalopnik, but I thought it'd be a lot of fun. The article is about some legit Countach owners who go to shows and troll kit car owners- Countach Owners Troll Replica Owners Not really sure if that's funny, or pathetic and only something a douche would do. Anywho, at first, it may seem easy to choose the real deal, right? But what if it weren't some amateur hour backyard special some guy hacked together with a Fiero chassis and 3800 Series V6? What if you took..... A nice, custom built lightweight alloy tube frame With a nicely worked over, but still streetable LSX crate motor (let's say ~45…

I'll cut to the chase here, and go straight to the rules- 1) Maximum of 5 choices. 2) Production cars only. 3) MUST be 2017 model year. (doesn't have to be on sale yet) 4) Cars from any market are allowed. 5) These are your only vehicles. 6) Cars/trucks/SUV's only; no bikes, trikes, RV's, etc. Enjoy.

Alright, NO excuse for lack of participation in this one. All of you classic and muscle car lovers, this one's for you. There is one caveat, however. I want to see true collector/investment grade cars here. Not run-of-the-mill stuff that you just happen to like. I'm talking cars with massive values- definitely way into 6-figure territory, preferably 7-figure- very rare numbers, etc. So, an example of something that doesn't count- a '69 Camaro SS. Something that does- '68 Charger Daytona. Rules- 1) These are collector cars- they do not have to be used regularly, tracked, etc. 2) Maximum of 5 choices. 3) Production cars only. 4) Any market is…

So the average new car price currently sits at $33,781. Which is a decent amount. There's some pretty solid deals out there for that kinda money. I'm going to round that number up slightly to $35,000, and use it as the base line for this Dream Garage thread. Rules- 1) You have a total of $175,000. 2) You must have at least 2, but no more than 5 automobiles. 3) You can spend as much or as little on any one vehicle as you want. 4) These are your only vehicles. 5) Choices must be brand new and on sale now. 6) You CAN use actual sale prices, rather than MSRP, SO LONG AS THEY ARE REALISTIC. Hey-o guys, So this past weekend the big dog NHRA guys were in town Fri-Sun. I've been wanting to go for quite awhile now so a few friends and I took the day off work Friday and went to practice/qualifying. First off, the nitro cars are absolutely insane. If you ever have a chance to go watch these cars, DO IT! Quickest passes in the 3.60's@325ish. The feels and sounds of those cars passing is like nothing else I've ever seen or felt. I have no clue how the crews and drivers can be around those daily and now have serious hearing loss/issues. I wore ear protection knowing they were loud..still didn't expect that loud! Here are some pictures from the day. Not much…

The goal of this game isn't to stump the next person, but instead to give the next person as many ways out as possible. Here's how we play. 1. Person posts a favorite movie quote and names the characters/actors. 2. The next person can quote another movie by any of the prior actor's co-actors, but not from the actors in the quote. For example Colonel Mustard: How many husbands have you had? Mrs. White: Mine or other women's? Colonel Mustard: Yours. Mrs. White: Five. Colonel Mustard: Five? Mrs. White: Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable. Colonel Mustard: You lure men to …

Well, I didn't want to do this on 9/11 with it being such an important date and all, but seeing as in how it is September, I planned on doing a 911 thread. There may not be many replies on this one, but I know there's a few out there who have an appreciation for the brand. As for me, well, many of you probably know the 911 is my all-around favorite car model, so this one will be both fun an torturous. The rules- 1) Factory 911's from Porsche only, no RUF's, 9ff's, Singers, etc. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These obviously are not your only cars. 4) Maximum of 9 choices. Have fun.

Along with the "What Would You Buy Instead?" threads, I thought I'd bring this one back, too. Today we're focusing on two of the greatest cars to ever wear the famed Prancing Horse badge, but from two very different times. The two cars themselves are also very different, but have some glaring similarities. Both cars use small displacement turbocharged V8's mounted midship, both deliver(ed) stunning performance in their day, but they hail from different eras, and are obvious products of such. So, would you rather have..... Ferrari F40 or 488 GTB Remember, you cannot pick a different …

Yep, I'm going there. With all the recent pieces on the decline of the sedan segment- primarily the midsize one- I thought what better way to honor that classic, one-time quintessential staple of American families than by doing a Dream Garage thread. So here are the rules- 1) It must have been a car for sale in YOUR market. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) It must be a mainstream brand, midsize family sedan. No compacts, full-sizes, etc. Ignore EPA ratings. We will use model hierarchy and position in market place. 4) Maximum of 5 cars. 5) Try to make these cars fulfill as many roles as possible- sport, family hauling, etc. EDIT- I…

I wanted to get this up yesterday, in honor of 9/11, but I was having internet issues at my house. I know these usually adhere to a very strict set of rules, but I'm going to play a little looser with this round. I'm giving you 10(!) choices, so build your list with the most freedom-ringing, pavement-pulverizing, bad-attitude machines you can! Rules- 1) Maximum of 10 cars. 2) These are your ONLY vehicles. 3) Only Domestic-branded cars sold in YOUR market. 4) Any era is allowed. 5) You can choose a maximum of 2 special cars- concepts, one-off builds, etc. Have fun and Happy 'Murica!!

C&D just got up their test on the new MB C Coupe- C&D MB C300 Test - and had a largely positive review. This is a rather small, but hotly contested segment. So let's say you were spending between $40,000-55,000 on a new personal sport/lux coupe as a daily. What's your choice? Rules- 1)Must be a 2016 or 2017 MY car on sale now. 2)Must be a 2+2 2 door coupe. 3)Must be at least $40,000 and no more than $55,000 Have fun.

Hey gang... I'm not up to par on BMWs, and my parents are considering buying a leftover 2016 or new 2017 BMW X3. Mom recently turned 65, dad is 69 1/2 and mom has desired a BMW for a while. They sold off their 2005 Saturn VUE and want to downsize to just one car (my dad has a '13 VW Passat SE that he wants to trade in). Any reason they should not consider the BMW X3? The X3 is the model in their price range, mom test drove the X1 and couldn't stand it. I can get her GM Supplier pricing on a GM CUV/SUV, but the XT5 is a little more than what she wants to spend and she initially wasn't thrilled with the Buick Envision (though she said she'd reconsider it and take one f…

Been a long time, so this one is overdue. And it's a fun one to jump back with. C&D just posted up their First Drive Review of the new 991.2 Turbo. Here is the link- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-porsche-911-turbo-first-drive-review Since there was no as-tested price, we're going to use the range from just below base price on a Turbo, to just above base price on a Turbo S. That's a nice ~50K bracket. So, you have to spend at least $150,000, but no more than $200,000. The only requirement is that the car be some sort of high-end sport coupe/sport-GT/etc. Have fun.
