G. David Felt Alternative Fuel Reporter CNBC.com just released their 10 Ugliest Auto's of all time list. While concepts can WOW people and start a long life money maker like the Mustang. There are others that just leave people flat with the "What Happened?" attitude. Some of these models have been vindicated later down the road and other have just become a history footnote in a book. While i will list the 10 auto's here, Review the complete list at this site with their explanation and then sound off on whether you agree or disagree and why for this Top 10 Ugliest List. http://autos.yahoo.com/news/10-ugliest-cars-of-all-time-231104344.html …

R.I.P. Hugh Hefner 91 Playboy Founder Plenty of news, so sad but Hefner is dead. Guy started the main stream of porn, boys fantasy and the Bunny clubs. Took a drive along the Lake Erie coastline through various small towns out to the Marblehead Peninsula to see the lighthouse...stormy weather, 60 degrees but looked more like a November storm at sea. Didn't see too many interesting cars, but one that I noticed in particular was a '71 Chevelle--pale yellow w/ a black vinyl top--was going slowly on a street in Sandusky and making horrible grinding sounds like the driver was struggling to get it in gear.

Okay, guys, here is one that is going to have a tremendous amount of options, and it will be difficult to pare down the choices. I look forward to everyone's lists. Rules- 1- Choices must be NO MORE than 4.0 liters of displacement. 2- Choices MUST BE FORCED INDUCTION. That means, turbocharged, supercharged, or some combination of those two. 3- Any number of cylinders, engine layout, and placement is allowed. 4- Only pure GAS or DIESEL. NO HYBRIDS. 5- Production cars only. 6- Any era and market is allowed. 7- These are your only vehicles. 8- You 5 choices. As usual, once you do a Top 5, you can expand to 10. …

Need some tow hitch advice: I want to put a motorcycle carrier on the back of an Avalanche. The carrier is rated for a 600 lb bike and weighs 97 pounds itself. One of these: http://amzn.to/2x1Hkc0 The bike I want to put on there is 485 fully fueled for a total weight of 582 after adding the carrier. I know much is made about tongue weight when towing, but I'm not really towing in this case, it's really just a platform with a bike riding on it. Can I put this setup on an Avalanche with a 500 lbs max tongue weight? The max tongue weight with a weight distributing hitch (which is not possible in this scenario) is at least 800lbs depending on setup, so the meta…

Fake news has been in the press a lot lately, so I figured let's generate some of our own. Rules: 1. It has to be automotive related, no politics, not even a hint of politics. 2. It has to be plausible enough to be believable by someone who isn't a car enthusiast. (I.E., no Tucker is not resuming operations, no GM is not reviving Pontiac) 3. Write it as if it were a press release or news announcement.

Drew wanted this one, so I'm obliging him and I expect great things!! This one will use odd engine layouts, regardless of size, aspiration, cylinder count, power, etc. They just must be an odd layout. Rules- 1) These are your only vehicles. 2) Must have been semi-street legal and production. I say this because I know there were some pretty odd creations back in the 10s, 20s, 30s that really straddle this line. Use good judgement here. No racecars, pure concepts, etc. 3) Must have an unconventional layout- that means NOT a V, not an H, and not an I configuration. You can use a W, a Slant, a radial, rotary, whatever. 4) Any era and market is allowed…

The sister thread to the earlier one. I'll get right down to business here. Rules- 1- Production cars only. 2- Any era and market is allowed. 3- These are your only vehicles. 4- Choices must be greater than 4.0 liters of displacement, meaning AT LEAST 4.1 5- Naturally aspirated engines only. 6- No Hybrids. 7- You have 5 choices, but can add 5 more after doing a Top 5.

Okay, so this is going to be a somewhat smaller pool to draw from, but I thought this one would really make people explore and maybe uncover some previously unknown gems. I hope everyone enjoys it. Rules- 1) Production vehicles only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only cars. 4) Vehicles MUST be a cylinder count previously not featured, or some other form of ICE. Ie- 3 cyl, 5 cyl, 16, cyl, rotary, etc. 5) Maximum of 5 choices, but you can expand beyond your top 5 to 10 if you wish. 6) No hybrids. Fully gas engines.

Let's play a game of car scrabble connecting model names and rebuilds. Rules: 1. You can connect cars by model name to model name of a different brand, model name to trim name of a different brand, model to model of the same brand but different generations, or from model to model via rebadge. You show the connections with N> for name, Y> for year, or R> for rebadge. 2. You can connect 2 cars by model name as long as they do not share a brand name and get 2 points .(Example: Edsel Citation N> Chevy Citation). You can connect names that have slightly different spelling as long as the name is pronounced the same, major changes in name structure…

Okay, we've all had our fun with outright enthusiast cars and their fabulous ICE engines, but now it's time to be a little more ecologically conscious. Rules- 1) Production cars only. 2) These are your only vehicles. 3) Any era and market is allowed. 4) MUST BE HYBRIDS!! 5) Maximum of 5 choices. Though if you wish to expand to a Top 10 after picking 5, that is fine. Have fun!

So few latest discussions gave me an idea for the following Dream/Reality garage: Pick the following cars that you would buy with YOUR own money if you were buying in the segment to be your daily driver: 1. compact car (sedan/hatch/wagon) 2. compact CUV/SUV 3. mid-size car 4. mid-size CUV/SUV 5. large car 6. large CUV/SUV

In this dream car garage, the rules are very simple. You will bring 5 cars and 5 local restaurants you will drive your choice of car to for an interesting meal. For the restaurants, only rule is no national chains-family owned or small local chain only. Restaurant should be local to where you live...say within 50 miles or so of your home. For the cars, any era any market is allowed, any price-just needs to fit the bill below. Car #1-American Muscle car, American traditional restaurant of some sort. Car #2, Italian car, Italian food-for those who do not like Imports, you may substitute an American car. Car #3. Vintage 4 Door sedan of some sor…

Alright, we have reached the pinnacle of engines in terms of how many cylinders are stuffed in a block in widely produced cars. Although this has primarily been the stomping grounds of European brands in late years, there WERE other brands than made V12's. Cadillac, Lincoln, and Toyota among them. The rules are the usual and as follows- 1) Production cars only 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Cars must have 12 cylinders, obviously. NO HYBRIDS!! 5) You have 5 choices. After creating a top 5 list, you may expand it to 10. Enjoy.

Rules- 1) Production cars only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only cars. 4) Must be 8 cylinders. NO HYBRIDS!! 5) As before, after you do a Top 5 List, if you want to do a follow-on, that would be great.

I have another challenging Dream car garage to post or two...but for today the easiest one yet. Only limitation for all ten is that you must be able to walk into your state/province DMV and register it legally. First 3-New 2017 cars you would buy, less than 50 grand... Next 3-New 2017 cars you would buy, 50 grand to 125 grand... Next 3-used cars you would buy, any market any era, just must be street legal. that is it-although i would like to see different cars than we usually post up. Challenger and Raptor ahve had a lot of exposure in dream car garage, looking for whatever else you all can come up with. Last car-#10-Anything street legal on the …

Time for a new one!! Admittedly, selection is somewhat limited in this parameter, so have fun trying to assemble a group with enough diversity for you. Rules- 1) Production vehicles only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Must be 10 cylinder. 5) You can pick 5 vehicles. After you do a Top 5, you can round out a Top 10, as with previous lists. Have fun!

Okay, after that great run of special DG threads from other posters- thanks btw!!- I'm revisiting the series I started based around cylinder count. Some of the greatest sports coupes ever built were powered by 6 cylinder engines of some sort, so I expect great things here!! Rules- 1) Obviously- IT MUST HAVE A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. NO HYBRIDS. 2) Maximum of 5 choices. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Production vehicles only. 5) Any era and market is allowed. 6) This is a new one- IF YOU WISH TO DO A SEPARATE POST WITH 5 MORE CARS TO ROUND OUT A TOP 10, YOU ARE WELCOME TO DO SO, SO LONG AS THE FIRST IS YOUR TOP 5. This Dream Garage thread is going to be similar to one I did recently where you have to pick from certain choices to fill certain criteria, or roles. But this time it will be based on nationality rather than price. You will have mostly the same roles in this one- * One off-road vehicle- Must be a truck or SUV. * One daily driver- Absolutely NO dedicated sports cars or sports coupes- so no Mustang, Camaro, Chally, etc. * One weekend/fun car- Anything sporty goes for this one, but must be street legal. * One track car- Anything intended mostly, or exclusively for track use here- Atoms, BAC Monos, etc. Does not have to be street legal. * One fam…

@A Horse With No Name gave me a challenge. Here it is! For July 4 Celebrations!!! Rules: 1. Pick a brand. Just 1 brand. A pure red blooded AMERICAN brand. Be it Ford or Chevrolet. Or Dodge. 10 cars any era, any concepts, anything from that brand. 2. No corporate sister brands are allowed. 3. These are your garage queen, museum grade show cars and/or Sunday drivers and/or daily drivers. 4. Have fun!

First off, I'm loving all the other threads, and the participation!! With that said, this is the third and final DG thread I came up with based on the 4th of July. It's a day in celebration of independence. This installment is based on that, stand alone maker's independence from huge corporate umbrellas. The premise is simple you will only be allowed to choose from vehicles that came from manfacturers that were completely autonomous at the time. That means no Chevys post-GM. No Ferrari's or Chryslers after FCA. No Dodges after ChryCo merger. No post-Audi Lambos. No post-VW Porsches, etc, etc. Rules- 1) Maximum of 10 vehicles, as with o…

So in this edition of dream car garage you have almost no rules other than... No passenger cars... No regular SUV's No regular trucks... Anything else on the planet that is self propelled and can travel across land using wheels or tracks (as in rails like a train or tracked vehicles like tanks and bulldozers) and carry a passenger or driver is eligible. In terms of Trucks...anything commercial or historical or out of the ordinary is allowed. Cabover truck like Balthazar's, Model A stake bed, Unimog, a fire truck, a Divco delivery truck, an armored personnel carrier, a military spec Humvee, a WWII era Jeep, wheeled amphibious landing craft...anythi…

This is the 2nd of 3 July 4th themed UDG threads I had planned. Just wasn't able to get them all up before the 4th. Since we won our independence from the British, it seems fitting that we have a Dream Garage dedicated to our tyrant turned ally. In matching our American one, this one will allow 10 choices. Rules- 1) British makes ONLY. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) You are allowed ONE concept/one-off choice. 4) You are also allowed ONE racecar/non-street legal choice. 5) You MUST have at least ONE off-road/SUV choice. 6) Maximum of 10 vehicles. That's it, enjoy!!

So, in celebration of that most American of holidays, I thought a Dream Garage thread was in order. And what other rule to base it on besides the V8? Rules on this one are sweet and simple- 1) American brands only. 2) V8 engines only. 3) Maximum of 10 choices. 4) I will allow one concept/one-off selection. 5) I will allow one non-street legal/racecar selection. 6) At least one truck/SUV option. 7) Any era is fair game. Have fun.

Rules for this one are simple....5 choices....but must be five different decades. Must be generally recognizable as a luxury car. A lotus Elise does not qualify. That's all she wrote for rules. A decade is 1960-1969, 1970-1979, etc... Interested to see what you all come up with.

Okay, you guys knew it was eventually coming. We did a HP installment (of which there is still more coming, so stay tuned), one based on displacement, and several other various ones along the way, so it's only natural we do one based on cylinder count. So with that, we will do the first one- the humble 4 cylinder. Disdained and mocked by many, 4 cylinder engines indisputably power some of the greatest cars ever built. From historic cars of unspeakable significance; to sport compact cars that punch above their weight class; to nimble off-roaders; to backroad, gravel trail, and road course slaying terrors; everyone should be able to find something they like her…

Okay, got a new one of these that will hopefully see more players than the LeMans one. The concept is simple. You will choose NEW vehicles to serve as the basis for a very heavy build. We usually pick vehicles we think are pretty much spot-on in stock form, but this one gives you the opportunity to maybe pick something that you feel is missing from the OEM. Rules- 1) Vehicles must be brand new 2017 or 2018 MY, with all specs, photos, and details released. So no '18 Wranglers. 2) Maximum of 5 vehicles. 3) Any market is allowed. 4) All of your choices must be heavily modified. I shouldn't have to tell you what this means. Bolt-ons and wheels is not…

So I have gotten over negative feelings I have for both Chrysler and GM but for some reason seem to have a somewhat irrational case of real dislike for Ford motor company at the moment. I really like the current F150, the Lincoln crossover products, the Mustang, the ST twins, the Fusion Sport...and several other products. But for whatever reason I seem to have a real dislike for Ford that is not rational. Any advice you have for helping me think more rationally about them would be appreciated. Thanks!

The nest dream car garage....I had too many rules last time so... I liked to play in the mud and outside as a young kid... 5 vehicles maximum, only rule is must like to play in the dirt or mud. must also be primarily land based vehicles that are wheeled or tracked or designed for land use...so no boats or planes. On the other hand...motorcycles, half tracks, military vehicles, mountain bikes, unicycles with knobby tires, vehicles that operate via rail trough the desert, radio controlled model cars and anything else you might choose is fair game. So, with this past weekend being the true greatest spectacle in motorsports- the 24hrs of LeMans- I thought it could make for a good UDG thread. Rules- 1) Maximum of 5 cars. 2) Cars can be from any era/year. 3) Cars MUST be OVERALL winners to be eligible. 4) Your selection MUST also be the ACTUAL RACE WINNING CAR. Not a different car of the same make/mfr because you like that team/livery/etc better. In other words, down to the exact number and driver combo. * I will do a separate thread for non-race winning cars, so don't get hung up over that one.

After my two recent experiences with car buying, I got to thinking: both myself and my wife could have ended up with very different cars because it was a tough back-and-forth decision. Maybe it could be fun talking about what we're driving in an alternate universe where the final choice went the other way! What's your realistic alternate universe garage? You can go by real life buying experience or just conjecture based on your budget. What are the pros and cons of this alternate universe? Is the grass greener on the other side? (No, your alternate universe self can't be a millionaire celebrity. Realistic entries only!)

No exceptions- no 105K, nothing contingent upon a discount, etc. Must be able to prove your choice. 6) You can choose ONE vehicle that is not street-legal. I have a search set up on Autotrader to send me Avalanche listings. One of the most common eyeroll descriptions I see for Avalanches is "Fuel Sipper" or "best fuel economy" or some variant. While the Avlanche might be decent as far as trucks of that vintage go.... it's not like it's a Volt in the MPG department.... it's not even a Chevy SS in the MPG department.... and putting that in the ad isn't fooling anyone. What doozies do you see in car ads that are wildly inappropriate to the vehicle they are selling?

Today supercar shoppers are spoiled for choice. There's more supercar, and almost-supercar choices than you set on fire. Some of them do that themselves, though. But it wasn't always like this. No, rewind 13-14 years, and there but 2 real options- the Ferrari F430, and the Lamborghini Gallardo. The F430 was the gorgeous 360 Modena's uglier, but more athletic successor. A car that continued Ferrari's foray into the digital age that their cars now reside in. The Gallardo was the car that saved Lamborghini and was the first full product developed by their overlords- the VW Group. Sometimes called the Camry of supercars, there are more Gallardos than every Lam…

Ya know… I’m not a big fan of Chrysler. Or Dodge. Or Plymouth. Or whatever the “F” they’re called or who owns them these days. It seems they’re always owned by somebody new. As if nobody wants to own them for too long. I’ve only owned one – and there’s a reason – it was an unreliable car (brand new Chrysler 300C) and the service was utter F’n unbelievable GARBAGE. Worst service I’d ever experienced. Even worse than Honda. And that’s saying something because Honda service is what you deserve if you’ve lived a life of sin and gone to Hell for it. All that being said, I have to say – I have a lot of respect for Dodge (I don’t know who owns them anymore because they keep…

As you folk have realized by now, I like observing vehicles and pairing them up and asking our little community here which of the two they prefer to own. Anecdotes and opinions of which vehicle is preferred or disliked over the other is ALWAYS welcomed and ENCOURAGED! The two cars in question: 1995 Lincoln Town Car And a 1998 BMW 735iL While the movie does not really focus on the two cars, the two cars in question do have important symbolism roles... …

Like always, I saw these 2 awesome cars this past week just driving around doing errands with the family. I have no exciting details or anecdotes to reveal this time around regarding the cars in question other than when I pointed them out to my wife and kids, I was responded back by silence and I could sense the ambience was a big fat MEH! I, on the other hand was super delighted! A Silver 996 911 GT2 Im posting this pic like that from that angle as that is how I saw it on the highway when I passed it. The driver looked like an older gentleman driving his sports car without any intentions of breaking any speed limits. It seemed like he was babying his …

Yep, getting close to that time... At the moment I am working on rebuilding/ updating my two chevys (Cavalier and Cobalt), as the goal here is to run them until it's time to send them to the yard..Both still run quite well, so until the rust gets real bad (figure the cavalier has maybe 1-2 years left)-drive them we shall..... That being said- with a 14,13, and 11 year old car, I'd like to have a new one in the fleet. Something I can use to help update my house, help my scout camp, and do other stuff. Also miss having a trucket like my ols s-10..... So based on mine (and the wife's) ideas-here are the choices... Chevy Equinox- Easy choice …

Working on response to the dream car garage that frisky put up, putting up one of my own. In this challenge....it is the Climate controlled trailer, Climate controlled trailer edition-10 cars worth! First list, cars that you would likely find in the shady lanes mobile home park, which is a clean and decent but not fancy mobile home park outside of Kingsport Tennessee. Or cars you would find on a third rate used car lot. Rules; #1. No muscle cars, or Camaros or mustangs of any variation. This includes cars like the 80's Monte Caro SS and clones of those cars-you can't take a mid 80's Buick and build a Grand National clone. No corvettes either. …

Auto Ads - We Love, We Hate So I came across some older ads and thought cool, ugh not cool and thought we should have an Auto Ad thread where we post em and discuss them. I actually liked when this man was a spokes person for the K-car revolution. He made everything cool! This just made me crack up when I saw this!

Newest dream car garage- In this dream car garage, you are allowed 5 cars, the catch being-you have to give all five away to other posters here. The other catch is that I want you to move as far away from "Traditional" choices as possible. We would all like a Raptor, Miata, SS, C7 Corvette Z06, SRT Challenger and the like...your challenge is to find something "different" and give it to Another member here. This is also a "Double Challenge" if you accept it, in that you can give a pair of cars to said individual...but if you give a "Pair" one has to be brand new 2017-2018 and one has to be at least ten years old or so... Let's begin... First Gift-…

Pecking Order of the Jeep 4x4 systems? Thanks to Drew, I had overlooked the web page that Jeep has on their powertrain systems. http://www.jeep.com/en/4x4/ Now that we have this great resource, I need some help in figuring out the pecking order of where things line up or are similar. Why you ask? Easy in the sense that my son who bought out of college his first new auto, a 2012 Jeep Patriot Latitude Trail rated edition is now ready to step up to a nicer auto and has decided to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We have tested them and he pretty much has all the details hammered out except for one question he asked me. I have searched and searched various jeep …

So in an attempt to spice things up a bit, I had an idea for a new 'Dream Garage'. It's somewhat similar to one I've done before in that there will be criteria to follow, but with freedom within those criteria. I will give you a segment of vehicle that you can choose from; and there will be price brackets that you assign to those segments as you prefer. Rules- 1- You must have ONE off-road vehicle. Truck or SUV. 2- You must have ONE daily driver. This is open. 3- You must have ONE long-distance cruiser/GT vehicle. It must be a 2+2 or 4 door. 4- You must have ONE weekend back road burner/track car. It has to be a 2 door. 5-…

Saw an interesting mix of old cars around Central Phoenix today... a very clean bright green base '70 Challenger, w/ gray vinyl top and luggage rack; a modified, raked black '56 Ford pickup; a silver '68 Cutlass convertible, rolling top down; a very clean '80 Turbo Trans Am--black w/ gold trim, tan interior, t-tops off; and a medium green '74 Caprice 4dr sedan w/ white vinyl top.

Gotta check out the "OA" and "Travelers" on Netflix.. oh and one called "Black Mirror." I just finished "Luther" which stars Idris.. this one completely got by me. Seriously one of the best shows I have ever seen. "Hacksaw Ridge" Mel Gibson directed this biographical story of Desmond Doss, a medic in WWII and the taking of Okinawa Japan. Watched last night and it was damn good. "American Honey" About this girl who hooks up with these traveling magazine sales kids and gets into so me very interesting shit. Stars Sasha Lane and Shia LaBeouf)

G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Longest Running Ride! Credit.com did a story on the 14 longest running vehicles on the road. This is based on the simple research of what autos are on the road still based on age and how many miles they have. End result came down to buying a truck or SUV is a solid investment for long life use with a few exceptions. As the research found out, the top 14 autos ended up being those that were over 200,000 miles and exclusivly made by General Motors, Ford and Toyota. Seems no one else in the US has auto's with high miles still on the road registered and running. The story goes on to say th…

Most of today's cars are very computerized, full of gadgets and like all things high tech they become obsolete in just few years (for example cars only 5-6 years old lack Bluetooth, have screens that look like cheap kids toys, etc). Today's cars have better screens, more high tech toys but in 5-6 years they will be obsolete as well. Lets say you want to get a car you would like to keep for a very long time, lets say at least 15-20 years. Something like Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or Corvette, something that you can have in addition to your daily driver, a weekend car for your soul and fun, something that you will keep very long time. What car do you think you …

Start Stop, Affects the Starter? So I have also wondered this and another web site actually got an answer. More info available at Green Car Report but to quote their story, the end result of what happens with the starter system on new auto's is as follows: What follows is his explanation of those technologies. (1) The gear ratio from the starter-drive pinion to the flywheel ring gear is optimized to make the starter's motor turn more slowly. This can be done without materially changing the design of the transmission or flywheel at all on existing designs. Crucially, this reduces starter-motor speed (in RPM), since 90 percent of starter-motor brush wear…

My coworker in the cubicle next to me bought a '17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in gray...very sharp. We were out in the parking garage with a bunch of our coworkers checking it out and my Limited which were parked side by side...noting the various commonalities and differences. One error on the Trailhawk (in that medium gray) is that the left side window trim is all black while the right side trim is all black except for the back quarter window, which has bright window trim like my Limited. A factory 'oops' I presume. Sharp rig, though..

Costco has hired you to revamp their automobile program. Instead of offering discounts on other brands they've decided to market their own line under their Kirkland Signature brand. You have to create a model line up using other manufactures products rebranded. You'll need broad appeal. You'll also need to change the designs slightly so you can't exactly tell what it's badge engineered from. What are you going to offer? What cars, trucks and SUV's will you offer? What'll you call them? Create your lineup for Kirkland Signature Motors!

Well, it took quite awhile for all of the insurance stuff to finalize and for them to cut me a check but I got out of the shet rental Yaris and this past Saturday I picked up something. I would have played the guessing game but I'm pretty sure I've already posted here asking about the car so I didn't think that would work too well.. Well, I bought a 2016 Focus Hatch Titanium. I believe it has everything except a sunroof and their active parking assist. I bought it with 12,811 miles on the clock for 16,000 + TTL. Sync3 rocks so far. WORLDS better than Sync that I had in my Escape. It has basically everything I had in my Escape, which is what I wanted. A couple t…

So with Trump's immigration ban being the headline everywhere you look, I thought this would make for a good 'UDG' thread. There will be 2 lists as part of this one- List 1 Rules: 1)These are your only vehicles. 2)Must be production models. 3)Any era is allowed. 4)Your choices must be built by a foreign auto manufacturer AND NOT OFFERED FOR SALE IN THE US. List 2 Rules: Same as above, but the vehicles can be sold in the US. Still must be foreign-made, though.

What's your favorite model that was a one and done? The rules are: One generation only with no major refreshes. Minor refreshes are allowed. An example of the maximum minor refresh would be something like the Cadillac Catera which got updates front and rear fascias and lights, but otherwise remained unchanged in looks. The Catera was a one generation model. No cheating with sub-models that are based off of some mainstream model (Typhoon, Syclone, GNX are examples) unless that mainstream model was also a One and Done. A nameplate that fits the One and Done criteria, but who's name had been used decades before and brought back will still count…

2016 was a year that almost everyone wants to forget. The election season that seemed to go on forever ended with the surprising election of a thin-skinned accused sexual predator demagogue and reality TV host to be 45th President of the United States. This extremely unpopular candidate had nearly 3 million fewer votes than the almost equally unpopular runner up. The Zika virus hysteria hit a fevered pitch. The Pokemon Go fad came and went. Transgender people using bathrooms consistent with their identities seemingly became the most important topic for legislatures across the country. The Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando was the deadliest mass-shooting by …

So with our new Commander in Chief taking office, it gave me a good idea for a Dream Garage Thread. Obama held office from the beginning of 2009 to just a few days ago. So let's use his time of rule as a timeline to make our choices from. Rules- 1) Production cars only. 2) Maximum of 5 choices. 3) Vehicles MUST have been sold in YOUR market. 4) These are your only vehicles. 5) Choices MUST be from 2009-2016 MY range. Nothing newer or older. Enjoy.

Friday evening, I went to the show to check out some new metal and see people's impressions. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked- only about 1.5 hours. Here are some of my takes from it- Starting with my own brand, VW's display was a joke. The cars looked great, and they had good variety of trims, but there were some glaring omissions. There was no Golf R on display. No Atlas or Tiguan. I obviously didn't expect to see any concepts like the I.D.s or anything, but the Tiguan and Atlas have already been revealed in their production guise. Not displaying your two newest offerings in the hottest market segment, at a show that is taking…

My oldest son has been discharged from the USMC and is now back home. He's looking for employment in the law enforcement field and will need basic transportation. His mom and I are trying to help him get on his feet and have about $2k to spend on a car. Prior to entering the USMC in January, 2013, he had a 1998 Buick Regal LS that he loved. He asked me to find him another Buick Regal, if possible. I also found a 2002 Saturn SL2 nearby.
