Yesterday I was having some work done at the Ford dealer. A woman, blonde no less, came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten. We all looked at each other and the mechanic asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?" She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I lost it and need a new one. It had always been there." The mechanic gave the women a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had the hood up and asked, "Is there a 710 on this car?" She pointed and said, "Of course, it's …

NEW YORK (AP) - "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino reveals in her memoirs that she is functionally illiterate and had to fake her way through some scripted portions the televised talent show, which she won in 2004. "You're illiterate to just about everything. You don't want to misspell," Fantasia told ABC's "20/20.""So that, for me, kept me in a box and I didn't, wouldn't come out." The 21-year-old R&B singer says she's signed record deals and contracts that she didn't read and couldn't understand. But the hardest part, she said, is not being able to read to Zion, her 4-year-old daughter. …

I've noticed recently a rash of posters sixty8 who fail to properly punctuate, or use any punctuation at all. It makes your posts verry difficult to read which increases the liklihood your posts will be skipped over. First things first, the first letter of the first word of a sentence is capitalized, that means it is bigger, i.e. Y as compared to y. At the end of a sentence, place a period or a question mark (looks like this--> ?) if your sentence is a question. Its basic grammar, not too hard most people who aren't from Alabama have been doing it since 2nd grade. Now please, it isn't too hard, so do it.

The date was September 30th, 2005. School ended and everybody went on their way home. Some by bus, some by their parent's, and some by their own vehicle. One person in particular drove his '90s Toyota Tacoma. On his way home, the engine started to stall or something. Pretty soon it stopped and wouldn't start. It caught fire. He called the fire department. As they came the fire had devoured the front half of it. Soon it was out, but too late to save the audio equipment located inside. Anyways, I don't know of the exact details, but this was to a friend of mine. I just had to write it semi-professionally. I guess he didn't pay much for it and in return…

I am sure many of you already know this, ANYWAY for those of you who don't... Get a car 25 years or older, put in a 400 hp engine. Get it appraised for $100-150. Then get classic/antique insurance for $ 120 for 6 months. Genius plan. oh yeah don't forget to update the brake system and steering with your extra money or risk being an organ donor. Paying thousands just in case something happens sucks

I realize this is an oversimplification of the car buying process, but it is an important factor. Just wondering what you guys think. Myself, I am Practical. The Cobalt was one of the best choices of the economy compacts, and the "cool" back end and yellow colour were extras... I like them, but they didn't make my decision.

Modern American Culture has evolved so rapidly that America is losing its cohesiveness, and is slowly destroying the traditional place of the family. SHAWNEE, Kan. (Sept. 26) - A would-be carjacker got away with nothing more than the keys Monday after he apparently was thwarted by the vehicle's manual transmission. The thief was armed with a shotgun when he ordered a 26-year-old man out of his Chevrolet Camaro in a suburban Kansas City parking lot. The driver complied, but when the robber got into the car he was unable to manage the stick shift. The robber fled the scene in a four-door car that someone else was driving. Police are investigating whether the attempted theft is linked to four similar robberies in Johnson County during the past week. Copyright 2005 The Associated Press

Here are a few notes to customers of cellular providers of the great ol' US of A. I will edit/change these as necessary as I find a means to vent here every night instead of the bottom of a Bud Light bottle. 1) If Customer Service tells you something, it's probably not true at all. 2). If Customer Service directs you to your local carriers store for an insurance claim, its NEVER true. 3) Just because Customer Service tells you that you are eligible for instant savings on a new handset at your nearest local store, chances are you infact are not eligible for SHIT! 4) Do not take it out on us poor reps, as we are not the people that make sensative policy decisio…

Has anyone seen their new video? It's a cheeeeeezy ripoff of '80s metal band Sphincter... they are riding around in a 3rd gen Camaro at the beginning, with t-tops and rear glass removed so they can all jump around in the car and act like morons. Then they get to the concert, and there are more "white trash" metalheads outside. There is a 2nd gen Firebird, a '70s or '80s Silverado, and a '70s Corvette doing donuts. Also in this video is possibly the scariest woman I have ever seen, doing a "sexy" dance on the hood of a Fiero. Sorry about your eyes BV.

I voted RWD. Manual trans. is almost as essential but I'd raher have a automatic RWD car than a FWD wiht a manual. As much as I'm into Muscle Cars I've driven plenty of four and six cylinder cars that had a ton of power... even ones without a huffer. For instance given the choice I'd take a '72 Datsun 510 over an '06 Monte Carlo 5.3, or a Cobalt SS over a '96 Taurus SHO. (but then who in their right mind wouldn't?)

Cell phone ban urged for teen drivers Transportation officials say phone use and inexperience on road do not mix when it comes to teens. September 21, 2005: 7:02 AM EDT WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Banning teenagers from using cell phones or other wireless devices while learning to drive should be a national auto safety priority, say U.S. transportation safety officials. The National Transportation Safety Board put the proposed restriction on its "most wanted" list of safety improvements for the upcoming year, which also includes older appeals for more states to impose limits on teens' night driving and carrying of passengers. "Learning to drive and being …

I was amazed at the amount of trash people just throw out their car windows... like it's the middle ages or something. A big potato chip bag with half the chips strewn everywhere, coffee and soda cups and bottles, an orange condom, (used, ew) etc. etc... what are people thinking? How can people be so damn TRASHY? I sincerely hope everyone here takes their trash home and sticks it in the wastebasket.

I'll get the ball rolling: Some of my GM memories: When we (my sisters and I) would visit my grapdparents in the Bronx for the weekend, we'd either be riding around in a 1973 chocolate-brown Monte Carlo or a 1955 Bel Air hardtop. The Monte was in pristine condition, the Bel Air was much less so having been stolen so many times. Four weeks before Northwest filed for bankruptcy, Northwest Chairman Gerald Wilson sold about one-third of his Northwest stock at about five and a half dollars a share. Since bankruptcy, Northwest stock has been less than a dollar. Congresswoman Candice Miller of Macomb County said Wilson is a greedy coward. “Here you have an individual who should be demonstrating leadership… for Northwest Airlines, and instead of that, he couldn’t wait to sell his stock off a month before he must have known fully well that they were going to be declaring bankruptcy. Again, just another unfortunate example – in my observation – of corporate greed,” explained Miller. A spokesperson f…

More idle blather from my 'commuting home' brain... An average motorist (let's call him 'Randy'), not particularly an 'enthusiast', has a choice of two to make for his new midsize sedan. Nearly everything else is equal and the prices are right. But one is advertised and in fact has a high-revving 6-cylinder with a redline of 8000. The other is a torquey 6 with a redline of 5500. Since our man Randy is a bleeding heart ecologist, he asks himself: Given the same owner, roads traveled and driving techniques, would the car that requires on average 1500 more RPM to deliver the same level of performance... that extra RPM would have to in …

OK, I was logged onto AOL for a few hours on Sunday, not using it, just leaving it connected while I watched TV. Damned if the thing didn't have to reconnect every few minutes!! I absolutely HATE AOL, I'm dying for a good alternative, pref. not dial up. I'm looking at this SBC/yahoo DSL service that attaches to my phone service, it's only $15/month. I don't know yet if that's just an intro rate, like the first year, then it goes up to the "regular" price. If that's the rate, tho, it's cheaper than my AOL dial-up ($25), and it has to be better, right? I mean, it can't be worse! Ok then, i…

Okay, I know a bunch of you eBay like myself. I usually scope out car parts and airplane memorabilia. You may go for sporting equipment, autographed photos, fabrege eggs, Selma Hayck's panties, whatever. But the point of this is to find an eBay Motors Gem. In other words, a complete car for sale on eBay that is in such a condition that you would only find it on eBay. That, or the listing is simply hillarious. Here's my first entry and an example: 1979 Lincoln Versailles Premier *Seamlessly-extended front end to accomodate 'spare' wheels. *"Vynal" roof with aged rust lines. By It Now Price: $6500

I have associations with each car produced. Which of the following make you think of an "older" (60+) womens car. It seems like every toyota camry is driven by women over 60, though I've known younger females whos father made them buy it because it was a good pick for their Mom.

I never doubted it, never even questioned it. Then someone who swears it was all staged for cold war purposes got me thinking. So I was just wondering what other opinions or therories there are out there in other parts of the worlds ?

I have yet to see someone under 60 in an xa or element, though I choose the xa because the whole brand line was for the youth.

Did you ever touch something really gross in the dark? I just went downstairs to let my little doggie out. I didn't turn the back light on. I could see the fastener for her lead shining in the dark... so I reached for it... AND DID A FULL PALM TOUCH ON A BIG FAT SLUG! :o

I just read the line in Sixty8's sig that reads: "In fact, did you know a Chevrolet (small block) V8 with no oil in it and no water in it will last about two hours before it disintegrates? We did it twice. The first time it lasted an hour and 15 minutes and the second time it lasted two hours." It reminded me of something my Physics teacher said he learned from an engineer. That a 60s Muscle Car lets off more emissions while not running than a new car does turned on?

So I spent my allotted coffee break (I don't drink coffee) shipping a package out at the nearby post office. A guy who's delivering several packages stops what he's doing and asks me, "Excuse me, but do you drive a blue Cobalt?" I reply, "Yes." He then says, "I saw you driving it this morning. Man, that car looks awesome! I had never seen them except in the papers. I never knew they looked this good. Nice car!" I thanked him and haven't stopped grinning since. Boy am I glad I didn't get that Monte!

Even though George Bush doesn't care about him, I really like his new song and video with Jamie Foxx, "Gold Digger". And the chicks are all hot!

...To put your name in my signature! :P How? By coming up with something like the disclaimer I used to have. Doesn't have to be exactly like it, but it must be funny and full of sarcasm. Beyond that... just about anything goes. I'll pick the one I like the most, put it in my sig, and include your name. So come up with great ones, guys. :D

About a year or so ago I admitted my love (still, after 30 years) for TONKA trucks and told everyone here about Tonka's newest product line - Tonka TOUGHEST Mighty Dump Truck --> Well, to top that, now you may have the opportunity to see this truck in real life: (this pic gives you an idea of how big the real truck is compared to the toy!) Visit Tonka Truck Tour to learn more about this truck, watch a video of how this real, driveable truck was brought to life, and see if it's coming to a Wal-Mart location near you (I may be "sick" one day this week to drive to a location near me!!).

Yesterday when I was on my way to Hy-Vee to get groceries, I noticed a car in front of me that had Louisiana plates. At first I assumed that the girl in this car had been going here for a while. Then I remembered an article in the newspaper the other day about a girl from New Orleans who transferred here after everything down there was destroyed. In the newspaper they talked about how she stuffed as much as she could into her Toyota Echo in half an hour and left. The only reason that stuck in my head is because an Echo is tiny and you wouldn't be able to fit much in there. Anyway, the car in front of me was none other than a green Toyota Echo. I got into the rig…
