Hi guys..... I had a mishap over the holidays with the ol'Saab. He met a friend called "guardrail" who stripped him of all dignity. So I'm out looking for a replacement and since the next year is going to be relatively different in terms of motoring needs, I'm considering a fiew other choices.... oh, and I'm also on a tight budget so I need something that can be found under 5 grand. 1. Saab NG900 non-turbo ('94-'98) for the maintenance free aspect of not having a turbo 2. Jeep cherokee 3. Saturn SL2 4. Chevy S10 My dad wants me to get a silverado or an S10 so that we can use my truck instead of his brand new one when we go hunting and…

Here she is, XP48; the one of a kid Cadillac Eldorado Brougham town car made for the 1956 Motorama. I'd seen this thing a long time ago in a book and had almost forgotten about it until I opened up this month's issue of Hemming's Motor News and saw it in the auctions section. I can't believe this thing escaped the crusher at the legendary Warhoops Salvage Yard where Lord knows how many other priceless concepts were squished into a cube. XP48: The 1956 Motorama Cadillac Eldorado Brougham town car I need to see this thing in person before i die.

I just had my first ortho consultation. I decided that, with the flex spending plan at work, I would pop for braces this year. My uppers are right on. My lowers are crowded. I got this consult because only some dentists can do the Invisalign. He said it would take 12 months + up to 2 or 3 more months. The cost is $ 5600 for conventional ones (which he recommends for me) and $ 6300 for the Invisalign which will take 18 months. YIKES. I definitely need the remaining 2 consults. Two girls who work in my office went to the same, but different, ortho for quite a bit less money. Any of you gotten braces PAST your teenage years? Costly? Was it painful?…

I haven't been driving the thing for over 2 years anyway, but it's still upsetting. Apparently the alternator did something wrong while the car was in my sister's possession and it started a fire. This is what the engine compartment looks like now... The worst part? I'll probably never own or even get to drive an Oldsmobile again. :( 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva SL Sedan... 1996 - 2005

OK, this time for real. Next week Monday, G6 replaces Cavalier. Car at dealership, keys waiting for my cash. But something's wierd. The dealer couldn't get my Lease Termination Report, and had to get me to get it and fax to them. Last time I remember when I asked, the Chevy dealer in Waterloo managed to get it. But this time the Pontiac dealer tried twice and it didn't work.

Hey, if I recall, it was late summer when the BIG CRASH occurred. Never thought C&G would continue to exist. In the interim, I got involved in an evening program in graduate business. I took 6 semester credits (Investments and Estate/Gift Taxation). Both were ball busters, but got an A and a B, respectively (just checked today) while working 50 hours a week and running around to get my mom to finalize her estate plan (in another state, no less). Also, went to Argentina and Uruguay (where it's summer) during Thanksgiving week instead of going with my mom and brother to a condo in Bend, OR. That was a slam dunk. Where would you have gone? Duh. I got a $50 iTunes gift certificate for Christmas, and I downloaded a song the other night. Trouble is, my Pocket PC doesn't support the iTunes protected M4P format (naturally). Nor will the 20GB Creative Zen Touch that I'm about to buy from my sister for half price. Does anyone know of any good, preferrably free M4P to MP3 converters that'll cause me little to no grief in getting the iTunes songs onto my player(s)? I've been Googling this for a couple of days, and it doesnt seem to be an exact science. I know I can burn a CD in itunes and re-rip ino MP3/WMA format, but I'll only do that as a last resort. I also refuse to overpay for an iPod. TIA…

Is there any way to safely wash your car in the winter? I washed my car (05 Cobalt) the other day and then parked at a bar. (no I don't drink and drive) I came out a few hours later and had a lot of trouble getting the car moving out of the spot. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Turns out the parking brake was frozen on. The lever went down, but one of the wheels was stopped and sliding around on the ice in the parking lot. Had to have it towed to a GM garage, where they fixed it as a "warranty issue". So the question that comes from all this is: Is there any safe way to wash your car in the winter and not freeze things like the doors and parking…

This Friday, a long chapter in the history of Volkswagen AG ends when the last air-cooled motor will be hoisted into a vehicle seen as a museum piece almost everywhere else across the planet. VW is being forced to change the minivan's historic rear-mounted engine because of a new Brazilian emissions law to reduce pollution that goes into effect in 2006. Production {of the van] will continue next year, but the van known here as the "Kombi" will get a new water-cooled motor and a radiator for the first time. The switch marks the last hurrah for the simple engine developed in the 1930s by famed German engineer Ferdinand Porsche, his key element of a "…

A new national surveillance system will hold the records for at least two years. Razorba - the shaver for backs! December 13, 2005 Stand in front of the mirror when you get up tomorrow morning and you’ll notice more than a few reminders that man descended from the apes – an unhealthy disposition when threatened and a liberal sprinkling of hair are the most obvious. Males of the species range from growing hair on their heads to hair all over their body and personal grooming preferences often necessitate shaving some or all of this hair regularly. We’ve already covered the shaver designed specifically for shaving heads, and now there’s an equally ingenious shaving accessory for shaving your back – until now, everybody has had to employ the indulgence…

Given that my G6 is not in, I had to renew Cavy's plates, i.e. emissions test. I went to the PBG dealer I got my G6, and while doing the stuff I sat in 3 cars: Lucerne CXS, G6 GTP and Solstice. Here are my comments: Lucerne: Fit and finish is really nice, but the top of the dash material can really do better. Feels extremely rough to touch. Others such as seating surfaces are very plush and top notch. G6: Surprisingly I find the dash material here is better than the Lucerne. Except that there are some slight hints of cheap plastics (e.g. the lower part of the door, the centre console), otherwise I give it a pass. It's not exactly soft to the touch, but very sim…

My brother in law is a state trooper. Last Friday, he was working a DWI shift (overtime). Basically, the Fed gov't has provided block-grants to the states so the states can provide troopers overtime to work extra shifts and crack down on DWI's. Last Friday, my brother-in-law had a drunk run a red light and smash into the front fender/driver's door of his squad at an estimated speed of 50mph. My brother in law had a broken clavicle and was knocked out by the blow. The Crown Vic's don't have side airbags - so he likely hit his head on the side of the door. So for the third night in a row I'm up at 4:00am. I just 'inhaled' a liter of Coke with Lime, 1/3 of a box of Trader Joe's Chocolate Raspberry thingines and a half package of Fritos Honey BBQ Flavor Twists. For some reason even though I do no drugs what-so-ever and have only tried pot once and it did nothing for me... I've still got the munchies. I could totally go for KFC/Taco Bell right now. It's at this moment while the cats are running around driving me crazy that I realize I'm setting myself up for an early grave. Oh well, back to looking up Cab-Over-Engine classics on eBay and Google. :) P.S. Variance I'll finish that PM tomorr…

...and it kicks monumental ass. B) I actually haven't listened to the entire thing yet but the song I'm currently listening to, "Coming Undone", is one of my instant favorites. I got the deluxe album which gives me a bonus CD with extra songs, remixes, and videos. Plus, I get a one-year membership to the Korn BSC fan club. The icing on the cake was getting a free Korn poster of the album art signed by the band. Such a good day. :)

Here's something to try, if you're looking for something a bit different in a weekend breakfast: Preheat oven to 375 Peel, core and slice two apples, your choice of variety (I used gala apples this a.m.) Place apple pieces in a baking dish Very lightly dust with flour (thickens the resulting juice so it clings to the apples to enhance flavor) Add a couple small pats of butter to stave off scorching and soften the sauce Sparingly sprinkle with brown sugar or honey (the apples are plenty sweet, just a little bit will be enough) Sprinkle with powdered ginger and cinnamon to taste Top it all off with a couple of tablespoons of real bacon bits …

This is a Land Rover Freelander: Want to take a guess on where the main brake lights are? That's right. The brake lights are the two little red portions of the rectangles on the bottom of the rear bumper. The two circular lights were you would expect the brake lights to be are (as far as I know) just there for show. I was behind one of these in traffic the other night and following it was just as bad as if it had no brake lights at all (slight exaggeration but it was still disconcerting having to look at the bumper of a car to see if it was braking). The fact that the third brake light was out and the brake lights barely lit up any brighter when braking didn't h…

I've recently did the head gasket on my Saab 900 Turbo last week end with my dad. He has outfitted himself with all the necesary air tools in the recent year and has allot of other tools he has had for a long time too. I got a set of air tools with a 5.5 hp electric compresor with 8 galon tank for x-mas this year. We realy enjoyed working on the car together and we both have a passion for cars. We joked arround about doing up a restoration on a big v-8 powered classic or simmilar. Well, I will be seeing allot more of my parents soon due to recent changes so I am seriously considering starting up a big project car with my dad. So far, some of my interests would …

Pontiac has long used racing sourced names since the '50s and through today. However, they seem to be abandoning it with the only names left being GTO and Grand Prix, both of which have questionable futures. Of course, Pontiac could return to using them, but could they possibly adopt new ones? Ones Pontiac has used... Grand Am Grand Prix GTO Bonneville Trans Am LeMans Formula GT Ones used by other manufacturers... Monte Carlo Daytona Sebring Monaco Baja IROC Grand Sport Grand National But are there still ones that could be possibly used? I've had no luck in searching... Any suggestions/ideas? All I can think of is PA's own Pocono …

Stern has realized the new wave of broadcasting is Satellite Radio. Much like the new wave in media is the 'web. I can't wait to see what this brings over the next two years!

What a lovely day in the village of Ramsaytown it is, today. Snow storm. Electical short. Limited heat. No water. No car. That's what I'm experiencing at my house right now. Starting last night around midnight, we recieved a snow storm. It was enough for Brookville to cancel school today. There's about 6" of new snow over the few inches we already had. My mom's Blazer had trouble making it out the driveway this morning. It's very cold as well. Earlier last night, a wire shorted out somewhere in our house. The entire second story as well as the ceiling lights on the first story and a few other things are now out. It has happened before, but it was …

You guys are gonna love this one. The most intense, terrifying, visually spectacular, thrilling, amusement ride of a movie. Peter Jackson is the new Steven Spielberg. This is the movie War of the Worlds should have been. Most. Incredible. Film-going. Experience. Ever. Most. Ever. Is that enough hype? Good, cause you still won't believe how good it is.

For the past few years I have been trying to get my dad a poster size photo of a red 1965 Corvette Convertable (black top, knockoff wheels, not the 427 model). And I have not found any kind of posters for that exact model. I've seen several ebay auctions for some and have requested to the seller if they have any higher resoution photos for the car but I don't get any kind of reply back. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I called kinkos and they didn't tell me a particular image size just the image should be within 250 - 300 dpi. My dad's someone who usually request for shirts and other borring stuff but I really want to sup…

So I was reading the latest issue of CR and in the auto section they had a little side article about how cars that are recalled does not mean they are unreliable or unsafe. The ONLY reason why they wrote this was because St. Toyota has been falling to the nasty recall bug the last few months. NEVER would they have put that in there and used GM or Ford as an example. P.S. WHERE DO YOU WANT THE WIPER SWITCH -- either its on the stalk and its "too busy" or its not and "hard to find"

I was reminded yesterday of an idea I had a while ago, and thought I'd share. This does go in the far-fetched idea category, but I kinda like it, so here it is. A while back, I was thinking about what Cadillac in particular could do to differentiate itself in the luxury brands, and it occurred to me to start pondering... What is the greatest luxury? Leather? A nice audio system? Powerful engine? Navigation systems and other gadgets? Nah. SERVICE! Think about it - what is more the picture of luxury: a guy with a fridge by his hot tub, or a guy with someone who will go get him a drink or whatever he asks (maid, butler, etc). Service is the greatest …

I actually found this on myspace and laughed my ass off at its absurdity. Especially #8. 1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control. 2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children. 3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful. 5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed …
