What do you get when you add this, this, and this? Which one of these is it? This one: Pic 1, Pic 2; this one: Pic 1, Pic 2; or this one: Pic 1, Pic 2? Now, which of these are more 'true' to the their brands than certain other(s)? So, who knows the answers?

Yeah, 02.20.2006 looks sweet, but it isn't. First, I wake up after having a dream my mom was divorcing my dad.. for my boss. She tells me in the dream that, "Well, I don't know what to do. I'm 100% in love with one man and 400% in love with another. I'm 100% in love with you and 400% in love with Jeff [your boss]" Then I preceded to walk into work and tear up the entire backroom, leaving with two fists of blood. Analysis: Holy $h!. Terrible start to the day. So the day's started now. I go to work and end up arguing over the phone with my mom for over an hour because she's given me fifteen effing mixed signals over cell phones. I'm supposed to buy a new…

The ONLY reason I bring this up is because on the MSN homepage there was a blurb about the fact that he won't go alive. With all the negative Iraq stuff, I sure as heck don't go into the news that much; however, what brought this on? I am wondering if that organization is feeling some heat or if some captured individuals are "spilling the beans." Just a thought.

While searching through pics, I came across this one. I forgot that my dad had this. I just thought it was interesting and I'd share it...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...ack=1&cset=true (need to be registered) When domestic automakers had their backs to the wall 25 years ago, they could count on a "Buy American" sentiment to keep some customers from defecting to fuel-efficient foreign cars. Today, many loyal domestic vehicle owners say they would be comfortable buying an import. Art Spinella, president of CNW Marketing Research, says the confusion over national origin means consumers are less likely to try to help fellow Americans by buying a domestic vehicle. "Basically, they throw their hands in the air and just buy what they like," Spinella said. When CNW surveyed shoppers coming ou…

A few weks ago my buddy Ross introduced me to this awsome website. This guy calls himself Mister Jalopy and he's awsome. Almost like a modern day hero in a comic book kind of way. Wacked out and scatter brained but in the coolest way possible. Really spend some time and poke around the site. He's a madman. I need to have a website like this... no real specific topic just a bunch or random cars I work on and "useless" junk I collect that I consider treasure, documented roadtrips to "exotic" locations like some hidden treasure speedshop. Seriously, check it out. One of the best websites I have ever seen! http://www.hooptyrides.com/

As you've most likely heard, the Prez is presenting a deal to have the government of the United Arab Emirates take control of major ports on the east coast. Do you think that Dubya has finally "lost" it? I can't believe this is actually happening. He even said....and I quote...."if Britain can operate our ports, how are they different from the U.A.E.?" How can you compare Great Britain to ANY middle-eastern country? In my opinion, G.B. is as close to sainthood as you can get when talking about U.S. allies.... I don't intend to get into a huge political debate here.....but IMHO, to give ANY middle-eastern country access to major ports in the U.S. is taking a c…

At this point in time, I'm nowhere near in the position to buy a house but I thought I'd take a look at some places I'd definitely like to live in one day. This is my current favorite: This is pretty much my ideal house. It's a nice-looking place for sure and the thing I really like about it is that it has a nice woodsy backyard (the pond is quite the bonus). I'm loving the patio, too. http://realtor.com/FindHome/HomeListing.as...50&lnksrc=00001

No, this isn't a review of the movie and it isn't anything telling you whether to see the movie or not. That's up to you. If you haven't seen it, this probably won't make any sense. This is just my experience I had as a result of watching it. You might find it interesting and you might think I'm nuts. It's kind of long. * * * * * I walked out of the theater on Friday night, my body shaking slightly, eyes wet and my throat aching. I had a profound feeling of sadness and confusion. What the hell was going on? Yes it was a sad movie, but I've seen sad movies before and they're just movies! They're not real! I'm not an emotional person and this was just not the…

So... I went yesterday. I went with my parents, grandpa and a friend of mine. We all walked around together to all the exhibits - if somebody wanted to see it, we would spend a little time. The only companies that we didn't go to? Toyota and Kia. Kia just didnt have anything new we wanted to see, and there were a few comments about not having enough coffee for the Toyota exhibit. GM's exhibit was really impressive. They had a stage where they drove the vehicles up as they introduced them. Lexus had a really impressive 'owners lounge' at the back of their exhibit. Show your Lexus key, get in to the lounge and get free coffee, food etc. Ford actually had a decent e…

On Thursday night coming home from mom's a new Honda Odyssey pulled out in front of me and almost got blasted in the ass. I had to slam on my brakes. It was full of people too. What did they do? It will going without saying that Josh and a few others will predictably HATE this stuff. This era reminds me of everybody having a Cutlass Supreme coupe, bad clothes, Greg Brady hair and a much easier-going and more affordable LA. At work, I will put on the headphones and draft away to Donna Summer's greatest hits and similar stuff - MacArthur Park is her far and away her finest work, IMO. It's great to drive to as well and...no...I've NEVER set foot on a dance floor to this stuff. I know there's a lot of people who hate it. So be it.

Situation 1: I'm at the gas station the other day and I see a guy walking towards me in a dark suit with a white shirt so the fact that his fly was open was pretty obvious. I kind of froze because I felt like I should tell him. I would want to be told if it were me, but I just couldn't do it. I was too embarrassed and I felt terrible about it. What would you do? Situation 2: This is a bit different, but kind of the same. I'm at the gym in the locker room getting changed and this older guy comes from the showers and is kind of near me drying off. He's pasty white and he's got his back to me. In the middle of his back, sticking out like a sore thumb is this disco…

A big "no thanks" for me. I thought it was ok for people who needed it to survive. It has now become a sport. I couldn't imagine felling a large animal...though if a moose was headed my way, I wouldn't think twice about pulling the trigger in self defense (I got real close to one on a Canadian Highway near Banff in 2003). There are some people I work with who do it. They don't seem to do it in the Sierra Nevada or in California. They tend to go to Montana or other more remote states. Not for me. Falling asleep on a warm beach on the Mediterranean: now you're talking.

Pink Floyd certainly is a bizarre name for a band, isn't it? It is widely thought that the band is named after two American blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. There is an alternate story that Syd Barrett got the name from a flying saucer, but then again, Syd Barrett was drugged out of his mind. However, I have recently discovered that the name Floyd means "the hollow." Ponder that for a moment.

After you sue Ford, sue Pepsi, you bored, bored carmaker you. Microsoft should also sue GM for using OUTLOOK. I often confuse the two; when people at work say, "use Outlook" I tell them "its not out yet, but will be at NYIAS." They stare at me weird. Likewise, the atmosphere should sue GM for using SKY.

I'm going to have to give up one of my Malamute pups. They have started to fight and draw blood on each other. I did some research online last night and it seems that they aren't likely to get over it - ever. It can be controlled with intensive training and forced separation but they could never be trusted without supervision. That wouldn't be fair to them or to me. So, with great sadness, I'm going to have to choose between them. Anyone else feel like their life is 100% ?

I'd like to think I speak "standard broadcast English" (no accent, clean pronunciation) so certain expressions bug me: Low end: Irregardless - actually, it's now an accepted word, though it shouldn't be Mid-range: He or she (singular) is "good people" - that is asinine Drum roll: Across pronounced "acrost." Where the f*** is there a "t" at the end? I never heard this in So Cal but I have heard it in Nor Cal and the Pac NW. I am wondering if it is an importation from the Donner Party days when people from the interior were migrating out West and it was handed down through the generations. Any expressions or word construction that bug you?

I've received many complaints about me slamming people's car doors too heavily, in particular my friend's Mazda 3 and my sis' 323 (Protege). I just got so used to my cars with heavy doors. I personally like heavier ones, since it makes me feel safer. I'm always scared of sitting in cars with light doors, especially when you don't know when you will get side swiped. What do you prefer? Heavy or light?

I tapped this one dude one time (the only time, since I feel funny doing it)... now it seems I'm a marked man. I'm really confused how trucks that had GCVWRs of 26,000 and 36,000 lbs can be towed now by 3500 pickup.... and a Dodge too! Why not get a GM or a Ford truck... hummm anybody know anything about the big dodge, i read that they can only tow up to 19500 so thats why im worried, i think our big trailer is over 19500.

I would say most people go to a restaurant for convenience, for something different to eat, for atmosphere, and for good service. Saturday I went to Applebee's for lunch. The server came by in a reasonable period of time and took my order... so far, so good. Then it all went to hell in a handbasket. I ordered one of their new "combos", which is your choice of an entree and a dessert for one price. I got the Southwest Chicken/Raspberry cheesecake combo. It took a long time to get my food and the place wasn't that busy for that day and time. The cheese on top of the chicken was burned to ash on the edges. It actually disintegrated into black dust when I cut it. The…

1946 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall Motoring Memories: Chevrolet/GMC Suburban, 1935-2006 Story and photo by Bill Vance Ours is an evolving automotive world where fads and fancies, not to mention names and models, come and go. But through the years some vehicles, such the Model T Ford and the Volkswagen Beetle, did remain constant to their original calling. The T is gone of course, and Beetle production ended in Puebla, Mexico in July, 2003. The Volkswagen Beetle has even been reincarnated, albeit now with a front engine and front-wheel drive. Another model that has stayed the course is the truck-based all-steel Suburban (called the Suburban Carryall until 1973) sta…

Okay people... I'm tired of the Malibu already. I usually lease, however the wife talked me into financing. I've had the car 26 months already (on a 60-month payment loan). I know I'll probaly not be happy when dealing with trade-in values, but I want to get back into leasing and want a new car other than the Malibu. Going to the Philly Auto Show next weekend witht he wife to find out what might possibly be the next vehicle. So I'm going to make this fun and ask all of you C&Gers what I should get, or at least look into. Here are my guidelines: 1. Must be a GM vehicle 2. Must be a four door (hey, I have an 11 y-o and a 6 month old!) 3. Must be something th…

I dont know how many here are into winter sports or at least watching them. I'm not much on sports but downhill ski racing has always been on my list. The legs become the ultimate shock absorbers, the fine edge of the ski carves the perfect arch, the knees and hips all but touching the surface as the body leans and fights the lateral g's to keep those edges at the perfect angle. 85+mph on your feet against a mountain and ice...... the ultimate adreneline rush. The Olympics are on !

I think we've had threads like this before, but maybe not on the new forum. Anyways, last night I took out four of my friends on a country road with no one around and we went 132MPH in the GTO before we had to shut it down (stop sign). I could tell a noticealbe difference in acceleration with 600 extra pounds of weight in the car, but it still picked up pretty damn quickly. Somewhat amazingly, the GTO still felt totally under control and stable at that speed. We also did some sweet donuts in a parking lot with plenty of smoke, but that's another story. On a side note, I think I've been at 115+ 4 times now. So, what's the fastest everyone's gone in a vehicle?

Both cars I've drivin on a daily basis have been floor shifter so I'm used to it. That one week I had my car in the shop for repair on the head gasket I was going between my dad's 2000 Impala and my bro's 94 Park Ave (both have column shifters). The following week after I got my car back, I remember one point I was backing up and when I went to put it into drive I reach up and hit my windshield wiper switch as if it was a column shifter Idk.. I must have been pretty tired or something that day. But anyway, for those of us who are stuck with/perfer an auto over a manual, wich do you guys perfer?

Although the snow let up in intensity and ended altogether hours ago, school has still been cancelled for tommorow! :sign0200: Just over 24" of snow fell on the area late last night and earlier today. Westchester schools announced county-wide closings for Monday by late afternoon, but New York City Schools remained open until the past hour when the decision to cancel classes was made (I attend school in the Bronx). Roads are still a mess and trains will be on a limited schedule tommorow due to the storm. Since most students at my school commute from Westchester by train, I'm pretty sure that's what warranted the closing. I'm especially happy because I've put off…

I have been driving a 95 Buick Regal since I totaled my 01 Sunfire about a year ago. Today, I (with MAJOR help from my parents) traded it in on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo! It wasn't my first choice, but I am really stoked...It is EXTREMELY clean. It's white with the black interior and "aluminum" trim. Anyways...when I get a chance I will take some pictures and hopefully someone here can help me post them!

The Silverado is ready to go- not so sure about myself. Time to eat and take a nap. I'll be heading out once it gets to 2 inches and be out until it's all over.

Who is definitely going with our group on saturday the 11th? How many are going to want to meet up here at my place before heading down? I think B&BL set a meet time of 10 a.m. at my place and 11A.M. at the show.

Such a sad sight... and thanks to the poor quality of the pic, I can't exactly tell what happened? I see what looks like a dirt ditch and some bushes...? IDK, but it's very, very, very sad.

...and look as good doing it? F-35 STOVL/VTOL takeoff & landing cycle Probably not. That's our new Joint Strike Fighter, Lockheed's XF-35. Here's a shorter 11-second takeoff clip. The thrust vectoring technology is nothing short of amazing and well beyond the still-impressive AV-8 Harrier.

Yes, I'm calling attention to this because it's becoming almost comical reading some of these reviews. If you've followed auto reviews long enough, you know that GM is chasing a moving target. Reviewers used to dash domestic vehicles for having less quality, then it was durability, then it was fuel economy, then it was noise and vibration, and then it was fit-and-finish/panel gaps. It then moved onto quality of interior materials and the latest sticking point appears to be number of forward gears. So, let's get it on record: what's everyone's opinion on the next great domestic "deficiency" for the auto-reviewers to harp on? I've already seen reviews bashing a GM ve…

The Yes and No are for crimes which, if convicted, would carry the death penalty. As one reads the paper, they can't help but see all the heinous, unprovoked and sickeningly violent actions carried out by certain individuals. While I may bill myself as a liberal practicing Catholic, religion doesn't even come into this one. My feeling is that if it is legitimate to kill an opponent in combat to protect yourself, it is certainly ok to permanently anesthesize a monster who threatens a city, a state or a region. Let's try to keep politics/religion out of this. Just your practical opinion. I don't apologize for mine.

Once my toys are gone I'll be needing something other than my Silverado to drive. I'm leaning toward a wagon (dog transporter) but I'd like it to be fun in one way or another. So, wrack your brains and post your suggestions (with a pic if possible) No, 68, that doesn't mean an entire catalog-just one pic. :AH-HA_wink: Remember, I have dial-up. Have fun with this thread, but be serious once in a while too. Jokes allowed but real suggestions appreciated. Now go to it C&G!

Now the Challenger! I saw it on the homepage. This is getting out of hand. Have auto designers lost their creativity to the point that they have to re-release such literal translations of old classics? Granted, the Camaro is the best looking of the lot. But the Mustang, the TBird and the Challenger? Way too similar. Heck, the Mustang's dash is an almost direct rip-off. I said NO. We need some fresh pony car designs.

After an entire month of above average temperatures and little if any snow, it looks like winter is finally ready to make a comeback. A Blizzard Watch is currently in effect for my county (Westchester, NY), along with approx. 10 other counties in Southern New England and Long Island. I'm sure Paulie (LI) is getting ready for this as well. Snow is expected to overspread my area in the early afternoon tommorow and become heavy through tommorow night and Sunday. Last I heard whiteout conditions were likely for late tommorow night. Most forecasts are calling for 8-12", though some are forecasting higher amounts. I'll have to get out early tommorow before the storm arr…

This last weekend I went shoping with daughter #4 for her first new car. Like most people in her postion (and mine) money is important. My plan was to get a Chevy Cobalt LS with automatic transmission utilizing the almost $3000 GM card rebate. The test drive was ok, perhaps a lttile underwhelming to me. My daughter didn't like it all saying that it seemed like a rental car. I have no idea where she learned that expression. Things got worse as the nice, industrious young man who was helping us (3.5 weeks on the job) introduced us to his sales manager. Oh my God! What an obnoxious slimey, iley character he was. Slight of build and full of the strangest facial expres…

Just an observation. At time of writing this, 14 out of 69 posts today were GM focused. I'm just throwing this out there: Is C&G becoming more a general automotive interest(and much not related to anything automotive) forum rather than a GM 'cheers and gears' forum? Was it always this way? Does it matter? ( And for the record, I'm as 'guilty' as anyone else).

I'm crazy about any carmakers ideas for possible manufacture or just as a design study. Some are wonderful and some are downright wacky. American Motors in the 60s: AMX concept: AMC Cavalier concept: American Motors design proposals, probably from the 70s/early 80s:

What is the big deal about this cartoon? Are Muslims just a little too sensitive? Go to Iran or any Muslim country and you will see anti-American and anti-Christian depictions on walls and publicly funded murals desecrating the American flag. How is this any worse? Why is there so much outrage over this cartoon? Shouldn't the Muslim world be fixing their own behavior instead of trying to limit our freedom of expression? I say the Muslim outrage is nothing more than hypocrisy.

It's frustrating that one's available time (namely vacation) will not support the hopes/plans for vacations and road trips. Given I hope to have a new job soon, my "vacation" time may be even more limited.... Even so, vacation is important ... to have fun, meet people, see friends/family & relax. For whatever reason, I'm not as "organized" in getting plans together for 2006 as I have been the last couple years. Heck, I haven't even started gathering a list of the IL/IN/WI/IA/MI area car shows/events & non-car related gatherings/events I may attend.... However, I have some tentative plans, including (but hopefully not limited to).... June 22-26 Nashville/Jac…

Almost a year ago, I found myself without a job. 2 months later, I started working again ... at a call center job that I just do not like, which may be causing, or at the very least, making my continued abdominal pains worse. Thus, I've been looking for a new job for a couple months, but have not found anything in particular...yet. So, knowing that "they say" the best jobs are found networking ... wondered who all here might be interested in forming a "networking" group of sorts ... and, no it doesn't have to be all about jobs. It could be networking for anything . If you're interested, let me know..... Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:f…

Is BEAUTIFUL! Standing in the God awful lines for the shuttle back to my house was terrible but I made many, many new friends. Furthermore...the people asking "Wow...is THAT an Escalade?" and the "That Chevy is nice hunnie what is it?" that the DPD were cruising the streets in was pretty remarkable. The city looked great and the Sprint Stage was THE happening place to be. Such a great time down in Detroit and the Big 2 and a half really did A LOT to impress.
