AAA latest survey find 1 in 5 want an EV now! AAA latest survey results of auto's, the type wanted and what people love or hate has really shown big changes. 20% of America or 50 million want an EV auto up from 15% in 2017. AAA survey found the biggest fear on EV auto's was range anxiety and that is dropping month by month as people new to EV technology see how it fits into their everyday life. While range anxiety is one of the top fears, what has changed is that more people like the reliability of EV or Hybrids over traditional petro powered auto's. On top of this is the reduced maintenance EVs bring, more technology as society embraces it with acceleration, ha…

Camaro or Mustang EV CUV? We have heard from Ford that an EV auto will be part of their auto lineup and that a Mustang AWD EV could be part of that lineup. Ford also stated that the mustang name could make it onto a CUV or at least something other than the traditional 2 door pony car. They have pretty much stated that this would be a Mach1 Mustang Based EV SUV. Fast forward a few month to the Chevrolet Dealership meeting where many things were shown off to them and slipping out to a forum from an attendee was that they were shown a performance EV crossover with similarity to a Camaro. Is GM following Ford and planning to have a Performance Camaro CUV? …

EV Charging NorthEast Strategy Electrify America, the multi billion dollar investment in the US charging infrastructure turned on their first fast charging station in Massachusetts as part of their 4 year investment in North America not including their $800 million California investment. EA will be building out an extensive network of fast charging stations that will support people wanting to go on road trips with efficient, fast and reasonable charging of their EV auto's from coast to coast. EPA - Fuels New Standard - Premium? Current administration has been doing everything they can to gut the EPA even though Auto companies have stated just push out the MPG standard till 2030 or so giving us time to delivery the results. Yet with that, the auto industry is trying to get onboard with Europe to a single standard. In Europe, 95 RON is their baseline fuel standard. This is equal to our 91 octane and while we have a 40 to 50 cent premium standard for 91 octane fuel, this only makes up 11% of the gas produced in the US. Making 91 the new base standard would increase gas creation resulting in lower prices for that gas and cleaner running engines along with a 3…

UPS going Green in a BIG way! Paris and London, both these cities have stated by 2040 all auto's, delivery vehicles, etc. that are powered by ICE or internal combustion engines will be banned from the streets. This has especially package delivery companies in a pickle on how to honor the law and still deliver the packages. UPS has stepped up to the plate to figure this out by buying a fleet of EV package delivery vans from Arrival LTD. Based on their web site, a fairly new company out of skunk mode in 2017 as they sold and are delivering 35 EV vans to UPS for use in London / Paris. Gas / EV Stations Comparison, Stop Comparing I was out looking at my normal alternative energy sites when I came across this story by Clean Technica about comparing gas stations to ev stations and how this needs to stop. As the story states, there is myths, misinformation, misleading concepts on all sides of the conversation when it comes to EV Auto's. First fact is that EV's make up .29% of the market compared to petro auto and with that small but significant piece of info the author states the 6 reasons that straight up comparison of the gas to ev stations is just idiotic. Current EV market is tiny: Why? 270 million petro auto compared to 794,000 EV au…

Secret "ALEC" in Big Debate between Oil and Electric for Subsidies! Not many of us have heard of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), yet this group of Utility companies clashed recently with the oil industry that wants to kill all EV subsidies and yet Oil takes in billions in subsidies from the federal government now. This group has clearly been an ultra conservative group till recently where it has split into two camps, those that are backed by big oil and their desire to kill subsidies and those utilities that have gone very green and want to increase offering subsidies to buyers of all things electric. XFC Reality - Xtreme Fast Charging Tesla is the current GOLD standard of EV auto charging. Their roughly 400 North American Charging stations handle 120-140 kWh charging that allows Tesla to brag about their 90 kWh battery packs recharging in 1hr compared to 10 hrs for a Nissan Leaf, 8hr for a Chevrolet Bolt if you home charge. Tesla's customers have had this perk and until now been able to brag about it. Tesla made sure they had this by using a proprietary plug that kept other EV auto's from using the Tesla Network. In comes IONITY, the European group consisting of Porsche, VW, BMW, Daimler and Ford. This is a 400 plus Xtreme Fast Charger network being bu…

Transportation has this distinction covering boats, planes, trains and automobiles. Samsung Battery Breakthrough Fast Charging and 45% Capacity Increase Samsung NewsRoom Announcement SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) has announced a breakthrough in developing a graphene ball coating that covers the nickel-rich cathodes and lithium-based anodes. So one would ask what is the big deal? As you increase the speed of recharging a battery, it wears down the anode and cathode. The graphene ball coating not only prevents this, but also allows for an increase in capacity to go along with the faster recharging. This improves the cyclability of charging / depleting a battery. This tech also has proven to allow for a very highl…

One key selling point automakers have been using to move electric vehicles is the federal tax credit of up to $7,500. But a new tax cut bill being proposed by House Republicans could eliminate that credit. The bill announced today includes a provision of eliminating the credit after the 2017 tax year if the bill goes into law. The credits are important as it helps level the playing field between internal combustion engines and EVs. Currently, the credit will begin to phase out once an auto manufacturer once it sells 200,000 EVs or plug-in hybrids. Bloomberg reports that Tesla would be the first automaker to reach the limit, followed by GM and Nissan. If that tax…

Over their existence, they offered 1/2-ton to 6-ton models... but these truck ratings have always been... strangely off. The entry in the Illustrated Encyclopedia of American Trucks mentions "Loaded with 10 tons of paper and traveling at 10 MPH, they silently plied the streets in the early morning hours with nary a puff of exhaust." They commonly used an 85 V, 10-amp system consisting of 4 motors, 1 at each wheel. The Curtis Publishing Co used a fleet of 22 of these for deliveries for 40-some years. Green Auto Sales Up Gotta love it when you can find stories of research that shows the growth of the GREEN AUTO movement. Autoblog just posted their review of the September numbers and I just love this section from the story: "GM once again was buoyed by demand for the Chevrolet Bolt EV, which resulted in 2,632 units sold. That more than offset the 28 percent decline in Chevy Volt extended-range plug-in sales. Overall, GM green-car sales jumped 56 percent from a year earlier." More videos are found ere: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Protean+Electric+In-wheel+Motors+in+Actual+Laboratory+Testing Have to say the break out test is cool from thick ice. Clearly motors can handle being submerged, I can see a true EV 4x4 as battery packs get to have longer range. Course need to replace the Jerry cans with replaceable battery packs.

GM States Desire to be First to Profit from Mass Selling EVs. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1110469_gm-goal-profitable-affordable-electric-cars-built-in-big-numbers Seems GM is focusing on lower the cost of the batteries sooner rather than later and to turn a profit from EVs. This brings up the question: With China pushing for such high numbers of EV to be sold in that country, could we see a faster decline of ICE auto's and a rapid rise of EVs?
