Mercedes-Benz’s performance arm, AMG is looking towards the future with their powertrains and what will be powering them. Speaking with AutoBlog, Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz AMG said the arm is looking towards alternative powertrains to provide performance.
"We must look at everything," Källenius said.
Their first step toward alternative powertrains is with the SLS AMG E-Cell coming out late next year. Källenius said the development of the all-wheel-drive, all-electric supercar is moving along at a brisk pace, though no information has been released. Källenius believes the SLS AMG E-Cell will provide the performance owners want, despite the added weight.
After this, AMG will begin implementing a a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) into future models.
