Rumorpile: Lexus GS Coupe To Arrive For 2014 Model Year?

Inside Line reports that Lexus is working a GS coupe to compete with the Audi A5/S5, BMW 6-Series, and Mercedes E-Class. This appears to confirms a comment made by Lexus' general manager Mark Templin back in January, stating he would like to see a replacement for the SC430.

Lexus has a holdup though on the GS Coupe. Currently, they're debating which powertrain to use. The GS sedan uses a 3.5L V6 (GS350) and a hybrid V6 setup (GS450h). Those two and a GS-F model with a unique drivetrain and tuning are under consideration.

The coupe is expected to be introduced sometime in the first quarter of 2013 with sales beginning later in the year.

Well... yes it's news. I can't imagine a GS coupe being very interesting though.

    • First, I had a little bit of video from violinists on the QM2 playing various pieces of music.  I relayed this passage, which sounded familiar, to friends who couldn't peg what it was because it was too short.  Finally, someone pegged it and said it was something important from "Phantom of the Opera" ... nothing I'd care to sit through.  At any rate, I found one musician also covering "All I Ask of You" on a violin. This can really make a person appreciate this instrument, this instrumental piece, and the precision needed to pull this off.  The musician is a young doctor, from what I can glean through the "about" info, and plays the violin to relax.  He does incredible work!

The label shows conformance to all emission standards for model year 2025 and that OBD II just keeps going The orange fittings and plumbing apparently indicate what is part of the hybrid model, as was the case in a Honda Accord Hybrid I drove during the last year - - - - -  END OF PHOTOS

    • Seems like they want to push the Corvette to hypercar territory which would really throw away the original mission of this car.  Although the C8 already sort of started to do that.  It seems like we are just a few years away from having almost no sports cars under $100k, because I think the Supra and Z4 are dying  soon, I can't imagine the Nissan Z will be around much longer with their issues, Mustang is on pace for its worst year ever.    But there are probably 50 supercar/hyper cars at $250k+ available.  The choices are endless among Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, McLaren, Rimec, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Gordon Murray T50, and all these other one off build in a shed super cars for a million dollars.
