If you're one of those people who wanted a H1, or the actual wartime vehicle that inspired it, have we got some news for you.
After a twelve year break from the civilian market, AM General is reportedly set to offer a kit-car of the C-Series HMMWV, or Humvee. The kit will meet U.S. government regulations and has been made possible by a deal with GM.
The kit will include a body with 2,800 installed rivets, chassis with springs, cross members, geared hubs, half-shafts, differentials, a cooling package, two fuel tanks, and a soft top with soft doors. The only items you need to add is the engine and transmission (Duramax V8 diesel anyone?).
Options will include protection plates for the rocker panels, driveline parts, a winch, heated windshield, geared fan drive, and a central tire inflation system.
Pricing for the kit is expected to start around $59,000, with a completed Humvee costing around $75,000.
