A Chinese Bank Becomes An Investor In Saab

Saab seems to be the cat of the automotive industry with the number of lives it has. Last we heard from the Swedish company, the company was waiting on approval on a deal with Pang Da and Youngman. However, General Motors was concerned with the deal due to technologies used in Saab vehicles ending up in competitor hands.

Now, a new deal to save Saab is in the works. Saab's parent company, Swedish Automotive is in talks with Youngman and a bank in China (possibly Bank of China).

The plan according to SaabsUnited is to have Youngman hold 19.9%, the bank with 29.9%, and Swedish Automotive holding the rest.

The plan is reportedly in GM's hands, awaiting approval before heading to the Chinese Government.

I think GM is playing tit for tat with Muller. After buying SAAB he bashed GM for almost everything that was wrong with the company. I guess while trying to save SAAB he lost his own brand he is now on verge of losing his SAAB.

    • One thing I've noticed w/ the high beltlines is I can't rest my elbow on the window sill anymore...with my Jeep and Cadillac compared to older GCs and Cadillac sedans.  But I rarely have the windows down much w/ A/C.
    • Hopefully to the crusher/shredder.
    • Interesting is that 6 of my coworkers all traded in their Tesla's and bought new EVs over the weekend. 2 Hyundai, 3 Kia and 1 Lucid. I wonder where these used Tesla's are going to go as people are not wanting to buy them even used.
    • To get the 5-star side impact rating, I have noticed the higher belt line, giving a bunker look to the cars and reducing visibility out the side. I am wondering if there is just cheapness from the engineers as my EV9 has a 5-star side impact rating and I do not have the bunker look but a traditional large green house, so how do they feel this is a good look, sucks IMHO. I feel GM and Stellantis have moved to a bunker look and it takes away from the nice flowing style of an auto.
    • There was one at the Tesla lot a couple miles from my house yesterday... though it was over when I went by there on my way to buy dog food and supplies.
