    Corvette Stingray Design To Influence Future Models

      Chevrolet Turns To The Corvette Stingray To Influence Newer Models

    The current Chevrolet Corvette Stingray's design cues will used on upcoming Chevrolet models. Automotive News had the chance to speak with GM's vice president of global design, Ed Welburn who said designers are hard at work trying to infuse the Corvette Stingray's DNA into newer Chevrolet models.

    "As Malibu and Cruze and Volt come to market, you'll be able to see a subtle link between some of the form vocabulary for all of them and Corvette," said Welburn. "I always look at the hood of the Corvette and the sectioning, the way it's taut, very lean, very sporty. That will be a part of really everything we do for Chevrolet."

    The hope with adding some of the Corvette's design cues is that will help make Chevrolet's designs more competitive.

    As much as I love Chevrolet and the Corvette, this development begs the question;

    Why buy a Corvette?

    This will make the Corvette look like a Malibu and not make a Malibu look like a Corvette.

    A Corvette buyer will not want to spend $50k+ for something that will resemble an econobox.

    GM and Chevrolet has done this for years. The Impala, Chevelle, Camaro have all shared styling hallmarks with the Corvette over the years to good effect.

    Chevy has never tried to convince them their Impala is a Corvette but they do a good job of letting them know they are part of the same family.

    There is no downside here if you know your GM history.

    Hell my HHR SS has the same steering wheel as the ZR1 and it never stopped anyone from buying it so if  you want to chase that argument then it is groundless.

    Subtle is definitely the keyword here.  Hopefully they don't make things to obvious otherwise people who are paying all the extra money for the corvettes won't be happy.  I don't think this is going to be a big issue by any means and I honestly don't think we will see any drastic changes on the econobox cars.

    I think camaro practically already have those lights. However the change is kind of drastic, but we'll just have to see. I don't think they'll look horrible, or that the value of the car will decrease, cause I'll though some people are just die hard for their cars, others just get them for the name. If we are all being honest here, many sales have been made just cause the person knew the brand name of their car would bring them a lot of spotlight.

    I love and have been following the Corvette models every since. And I definately think that using the Stingray as a model for future projects is an excellent choice. (This isn't coming from a fanboy at all).

    • If you are in a hotel and there is a (laptop) safe in the room, you'd probably use it for your laptop if leaving the room and/or hotel for a while. If you are in a hotel without one, what do you do (with your laptop)?  I often have them pass on room service ... that's for sure.  It would be beneficial for some of you to weigh in.
    • Random thoughts: Saw many German imports sporting medium enamel grey exteriors with darker red leather interiors in affluent desert communities and this combination looks nice. Was following a recent Dodge Challenger on the freeway tonight and I love that rear light bar, so I think it's the best looking of the 3 pony car rehashes. Saw an immaculate black 2007 or 2008 Cadillac DTS on the freeway tonight and they still look good, even timeless. I happened onto a dog video last night and it had "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan in it.  I read about him and he once ran a "Dog Psychology Center."  Ha. He does not have a degree in psychology, animal husbandry, or anything.  Then, L.A. douchebag groupthink shines through.  The list of celebs who used him (one refers or copies another celeb) is lengthy.  Remember when celebs were snapping up Priuses, almost as if to make a statement? About 40% of my music collection consists of African-American artists. I  notice this as I surf Bluetooth. Some of my friends joke that I was Black in a previous life.  Come on.  Some white artists - even hard rockers - are more starched than many Black artists ... smooth, earthy, sassy, passionate, gravelly, and/or powerful ... that's what I like in music and they put out some great musical tracks.   Happy Friday.

The only think I would do differently is dice up the garlic and onions more, so they blend into the pasta better and use a variety of cheeses, like Mozzarella and Smokey Gouda plus the parmesan. • I love BBQing, but with my Knee recovery, I am not up to being outside in my BBQ area and cooking ribs the right way slow and steady for a fall off the bone rib. I have been looking online at other options and yes, I love Dr. Pepper way more than Coke or Pepsi, in fact I cannot think of the last time I had a coke or pepsi.  Dr. Pepper slow cooked ribs, then finished in the oven. Seems like a good Idea to try. What do you guys think? Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Ribs - Only 3 Ingredients!
