    The Non-V CT4 Revealed

      ...Introing the base model to the world...

    When Cadillac introduced the CT4 back on May 30th, they only introduced the V-series version of the car. Today Cadillac unveiled the standard versions of the car in Sport, Luxury, and Premium Luxury trims.  Each one styled slightly differently, the Luxury and Premium Luxury models come with brighter exterior accents and metallic grilles.  The Sport version is has a more aggressive mesh grille, sportier fascias, rear spoiler, darkened accents and model specific 18-inch wheels.

    CT4 Premium Luxury:
    Leather seating

    Front Pedestrian Braking

    CT4 Sport:
    All of Premium Luxury
    Sport Seats
    Unique Trim
    Alloy Pedals

    CT4-V:
    Limited Slip Rear Differential
    Magnetic Ride Control (RWD Only) or ZF MVS Passive Dampers (AWD)
    Available SuperCruise (later in 2020)

     Power wise, the CT4 has a choice of 3 power configurations.  The 2.0-liter turbo has 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.  The 2.7-liter turbo in the Premium Luxury produces 309 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft of torque or in the V gets 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft of torque.  Both 2.7 liters route power through a 10-speed automatic.  Both the 2.0 and 2.7 have a three-step sliding camshaft design, active fuel management, and automatic start-stop.

    The Cadillac CT4 will be available for ordering later this year with pricing announced closer to production.

    Better seats were in the Escalade five years ago versus right now?  I hope that the 2021 Escalade (and all Cadillac vehicles) radically step up in the seat game.

    What year of Slade do you have? My Father drives a 2017 Premium Lux and seems to really like it. The interior and seats do get better with the trim levels from Base Luxury to Platinum, in his Premium Luxury the seats seem pretty good and the Platinum I sat in and test drove seemed really nice and cushy front and second row seats, you don't want them too soft or too hard. Hard seats are what Merc is known for, for decades they were buckboard hard as a rock and they're still pretty firm, VW Toureg Wolfsburg Ed. seats were too hard as well. I'm told that the 2021 Escalades will be an even better quality inside and out. It's part of the higher level of luxury that de Nysschen was working on at Cadillac and Carlisle is so far continuing on that path.

    How tall are you anyway? Maybe you need seat bottom extenders ?

    I have a 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum, last year of the cushy seat with built in support. As a road trip person who drives 15 to 20 thousand miles a year, I usually will do on average 500 to 600 miles in a day and can tell you since Gen 2 the seats have gotten harder and harder and are not long road trip worthy seats. Have my slade going in this Friday for service before another road trip up through Canada and the Banf national park. I did the same trip last year in a new loaner and my butt hurt. Not comfy seats for long road trips.

    What were you butt hurt about?? I have long legs too and avg. torso don't really have a problem at 6'3" guess I'm lucky I stopped growing haha. I like the seat pretty much all of the way back anyway and long arms reach the wheel just right :) The C8 seems pretty good sitting in it, but does seem smaller and a bit lower roof panel too, but they do have an alcove for helmets on both sides on the inside of the targa top so it's not too bad and talk about tech laden, wow.

    But are you thick with muscles? That is where I run into space issues, is most sports cars and the Corvette seems to be no different is not built for thick, big guys. My sports / suit jacket is a 60, so my shoulders tend to have issues also. Trust me you would hate to be in the seat next to me on a plane. :P I eat up space faster than a Ferrari attempting to catch the tail lights of a ZR1 Corvette. :D

    Damn son you are a big boy. I work out 3 days a week and have a pretty strong core and good tone 6'3" 225 but not stocky I was a lanky bean pole kid ?

    Ah a C7 ZR1 and a Ferrari 812 Superfast that would be a great race and fun to be a part of! ????

    • Argh.  This is a question I almost want to avoid. The A380 is incredible.  Yes, I had a roundtrip through AA on British.  They have a small economy section at the back, upstairs.  Then I flew a one way from Italy to New York-JFK on an Emirates "fifth freedom" flight segment.  They have economy taking the entire main level, with none upstairs. Economy seats are a little wider on the A380 ... definitely on Emirates, at least.  It was an outstanding flight because of that.  On British, I paid for an economy seat upstairs and the curvature of the exterior translates into windows that are too sloped and with an odd and bigger void in between the cabin and the exterior.  I will be sitting downstairs if there is a future flight on one. The 747-8 isn't as comfortable in economy because the seats are traditional economy width.  I feel more comfortable in one because I know it.  It's also much more photogenic all the way around.  You feel good when it pulls up to the gate and you see that beautiful and proportioned machine through the big glass windows. The humidification is good on both planes. It's really sad that no more passenger quadjets are being produced.  It's easier to get onto an A380 if Europe bound (British, Lufthansa, Emirates, and others via connections, with Air France holding back).  For a 747-8, Lufthansa is the only choice and I am grateful to them for that.
    • My car has a supposed 525 mile highway crusing range on a full tank (19.5 gallons).   I haven't fully tested that since I tend to fill up at 1/2 tank when on road trips..but I have recorded averages of 29.5 and 30 mpg on road trips, which is pretty good for a comfortable 4200lb AWD sedan..
    • @trinacriabob in your flying in recent years, have you had a trip on an A380?    If so, how does it compare to the larger Boeings? 
    • Right.  It's not the aircraft themselves, but the haste and sloppiness.  ("Haste makes waste.")  This 777 X is ambitious and the folding wingtips are novel.  They will be very late with delivering this plane.  I now like some Boeing and some Airbus.  It's a mix.  In the recent past, I took a ride on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and I definitely like it more than the Airbus 350 (even though the Airbus 350 has that photogenic curved winglets).  The cabin fatigue from flying is much reduced on the Dreamliner. Yesterday, I was on two domestic Boeing 737 Max 8 segments back to back on Southwest.  I like its newer features - ambient lighting, larger bins, a little quieter.  So, if it's working, it's a very nice rendition of the 737.  It's too bad that their newest version of this storied workhorse had to be tainted.  I get on and sigh.  If it keeps a clean track record going forward, people may be less weirded out as the statistics may become better. It is.  However, I'm not a fan of the leg design, which is also now popular on sofas.  The biggest turnoff for me in sofas - when I bought a sleeper for another room with the last stimulus money - was the amount of product that had nailheads all over the place.
