2020 Cadillac CT6 Makes Big Price Moves

      ...now with a base V6....

The Cadillac CT6 has been in the news a lot lately.  First it was potentially canceled as its home factory in the U.S. is slated for closure. Then there was the Cadillac Blackwing V8.  Most recently it has dropped both the base 2.0T 4-cylinder and the mid-range (now that there is a V8) 3.0 twin-turbo V6.

With all of those changes, there is bound to be some price changes to accompany them.

For 2020, the CT6 will see a base price rise of $8,500 over the 2019 model to $59,900. With that rise, the base engine becomes the 3.6 liter V6 and AWD standard. It is also adding about $3,500 worth of active safety equipment as standard.

Moving up to the Premium Luxury model will add $12,000 to the price tag but comes with Cadillac's famous Super Cruise automated driving system, the rear seat package, the Comfort and Technology package, and the 34-speaker Panaray sound system. At $75,490, that's actually a $2,500 discount on those packages over the 2019 model.

The top model, the CT6 Platinum will come standard with the Blackwing V8, replacing the 3.0 twin-turbo on the spec sheet. It also gains 20-inch wheels that were optional last year.

While the future of the CT6 is murky, the fact that GM continues to make improvements to the model gives us hope that it will live on.

Yes, I bought a California car because I was living in Arizona.  Arizona dealers get a lot of California vehicles.    I needed it to drive cross country to my house in Ohio.  Wouldn’t have made sense to buy it in Ohio...

Geez...I wonder why it wouldnt make sense for you to buy a used car from Ohio?

And I didn’t downvote you because you said Quebec cars rust,  but for your shitty attitude and the inaccurate assumptions you make.  And your long, rambling incoherent posts.

I understand the lure of buying new. I did it once, my father almost always bought new, his father always bought new. There's appeal there; in a full warranty, in the 'untouched' nature, in everything clean, yes; in the new car smell. I've been looking at new trucks on the lot for most of this year, I would like to own one, I can afford one… i just refuse to pay the cost of one.

If you can afford it with no lifestyle penalties and you want to buy new- go right ahead! but you DO 'pay' for that, and significantly.

    Its simple...dont read them...

    Yet you do.

    No...you downvoted because I touched a nerve.

I bruised your fragile ego about used cars and depreciation.

Do you have any comprehension of geography?  It’s over 2000 miles.  I wasn’t going to buy something in Ohio, ship or drive it to Az then drive it back to Ohio..

.I hadn’t sold the house in Az yet, had to move the dogs to Ohio and needed a new vehicle..my old Jeep had 170k and I didn’t trust it for the long drive that was looming in my future....I had had it 17 years, got my money’s worth. (I had bought it new, by the way.)

No point trying to explain anything to you, you can’t understand.   Different reality context..I had a unique situation...it works for me...

And not once did I say you dont pay for it.

Alls I said is that new car depreciation does NOT affect me as I AMORTIZE a new car purchases PROPERLY...

Everything depreciates...even properties...(this is where @dwightlooi told me his story about some people he knows that have bought big homes because properties usualy appreciate in value but they cant afford said huge home so they sleep on matresses on the floor and eat wet from water noodles...)

All this rambling because I CHOOSE to buy NEW cars...

Its OK to refuse to buy new...and only to buy used. Its an economic stupidity for NOT taking advantage of this era of used market...

Yet Balthy, you dont seem like the type to try to one-up your neighbour by buying a used Bimmer showing him up and other shallow souls...

@Robert Hall  also doesnt seem like the shallow type to do this.

I dont know @dwightlooi, but his story of his acquaintances about sleeping on the floor on matresses and eating noodles JUST to be in a big house for appreciation purposes actually sounds shallow to me...

And THAT does not impress me...

And yes...in Quebec...or Michigan for that matter,

Buyer beware when it comes to buying used luxury vehicles...

Its the rust that'll get ya!  Short lifespans for cars. We could talk about depreciation all we want ...but regular maintenance on high diva Bimmers on such mundane shyte like ABS brake sensors or what not take a toll on the wallet, and these things tend to breakdown more easily in bad weather areas more often than say...California...

Chevy Malibus have those same ABS brake sensors like those fancy shmancy Bimmers...

Except, a new, or used Malibu costs you mainstream Chevy prices to fix 'er  back up.

Bimmers...even 2 Series Bimmers, costs you diva prices...

On a car that will NOT last you a lifetime...unlike if you were living in...CALIFORNIA!!!

LOL... a great American... uh... Canadian... novel worth of posts later it comes down to this.

    • Oldhurst442 lives in Canada and is worried about corrosion in used cars.
    • Because of import laws, he doesn't have access to cars from south of the border.

Doesn't change the fact that a certified 3 year old will have ZERO CORROSION and ZERO ACCIDENTS or it could not have been certified. BTW, I am sure canada has no restrictions of Quebec folks buying cars from British Columbia.

Must have been a poor quality Nissan inner tube. After all this is a Cadillac thread so you can only talk about inducing farts on quality inner tubes.

    YUP.

I'd rather pay less than he did on his 1.6L Fusion on my 2.3 MKC.

    • Interesting musical chairs I recently learned about. ITA Airways was recently acquired by Lufthansa. ITA, and preceding Alitalia, were in SkyTeam, headed up by Delta along with Air France and KLM.  ITA came across as an unwanted stepchild for the more fastidious French and Dutch.  SkyTeam is pricey, as are their award redemption tiers. With this transaction, ITA joins Star Alliance, headed up by United and with Lufthansa and Air Canada in the consortium.  I'm happy about this.  At least I am right now.
    • I don't feel religion is bad.  I have one.  It's the dogmatic "holier than thou" crowd - usually older ladies who go to socialize and gossip - that drives people away. Ukraine has the right to exist peacefully the way we've known it to be for some 30 to 40 years.  The death toll is harrowing, and it's hard to think about the children, elderly, and invalids they've killed or maimed.  And these instigators claim to believe in God.  Not.
    • Seems the crazy Stooges circus has begun. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/liz-cheney-referred-for-criminal-investigation/ar-AA1w2lHB?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=12 Crazy back n forth, I hope Ukraine can recover their land and kick Russia out. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/vladimir-putin-embarrassed-as-ukrainian-rout-causes-huge-russian-surrender/ar-AA1w0T5o?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=23 Next year is going to be one extremely large clown mess of attempted dictatorship wanna be attempts against our Constitution and I fear this is only the beginning as investment firms lock in profits and get out of companies, they do not feel can handle a downturn in a U.S. and or Global Economic recession. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/dow-suffers-worst-losing-streak-in-nearly-50-years-this-stock-is-driving-index-down/ar-AA1w2wlh?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=34 This will hurt the GOP as folks assess their view of Conservative with the GOP party. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/record-slim-house-majority-faces-new-problems-as-gop-lawmaker-announces-exit-from-republican-conference/ar-AA1w2e2V?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=47 Good to see our judicial system stand up to the snake oil salesmen who think they can get away with various crimes. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/judge-merchan-just-put-leash-on-trump-during-presidency-legal-analyst/ar-AA1w2qhi?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=67 This brings up a good question for all here, do you like Standard Time or Daylight Savings time? If you are like me and not wanting to deal with flipping back and forth on time twice a year, which time do you want? https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-says-he-ll-end-daylight-saving-time-here-are-the-winners-and-losers-if-he-does/ar-AA1w1Obc?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=f2884bd4f8b34ba2f527fff1fded1ac6&ei=78 So here is how states have voted to make one or the other permanent and do away with the flip back and forth. I do find it interesting that Ford is still filing patents on EV technology even though they have pulled back and have not really planned to move forward with 800v platform. Ford's Latest Patent Could Revolutionize EV Charging Crazy the lease deals you can get on an EV. As expected another ICE only, death to EV writer finally, actually got behind a wheel and found that the EVs are way better than ICE and even states that his next auto will be an EV now that he has actually driven one and tested it. Interesting read, his few dislikes is more of him needing to choose the display preference. I like mine in Dark mode, but the wife likes hers in light mode. So it is totally customizable. I drove an EV for the first time Have to say, I am hearing more and more from coworkers who were a never EV mind set, have actually test drove and ended up buying an EV. I think the tipping point is here where variety of EV choices are going to only make this more and more common. I suspect the Kia EV3 next year will be a huge deal for them as will the Chevrolet BOLT coming back into the market. Two SUVs that are below $30,000 will attract many new auto buyers.
