As the Diesel Emits: Former Volkswagen CEO Under Criminal Investigation, Chief Engineers Suspended

A Criminal Investigation Is Opened Into the Former VW CEO, While Three r&d Chiefs Are Suspended

If you didn't think the diesel scandal at Volkswagen could get any worse, think again.

Let's begin with the former CEO at Volkswagen, Martin Winterkorn. Reuters is reporting that German prosecutors have opened an investigation into Winterkorn into "allegations of fraud in the sale of cars with manipulated emissions data" based on ten unidentified individuals filing charges. Now Winterkorn has said that he wasn't aware of any wrongdoing on his part in light of this scandal.

There is a report from Automotive News Europe that says three r&d heads at Volkswagen have been suspended. The three are,

    • Audi development chief Ulrich Hackenberg
    • Porsche development head Wolfgang Hatz
    • VW brand r&d boss Heinz-Jakob Neusser

Those with keen eyes will notice two of these folks, Hackenberg and Hatz were rumored to be shown the door last week.

Now Hackenberg and Hatz previously ran units at the heart of the Volkswagen diesel scandal. Hackenberg was responsible for Volkswagen development from 2007 to 2013, while Hatz oversaw Volkswagen group's engine development from 2007 to 2011.

Audi and Volkswagen declined to comment.

    HA!

Like I said...corporate greed is what we should get rid of...

AND THAT is how we do it...

CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS LEADING TO CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS LEADING TO GUILTY CRIMINAL JUDGEMENTS...

How can the buying public be aware of any wrong doing when commercials like these are played?

and even the LEGAL entities that test these cars have approved them...

As far as the consumer goes...VW AG is a very green company...

VW AG FRAUDED the BUYING PUBLIC....

THERE WAS NO WAY TO KNOW THAT...UNTIL THE HAMMER DROPPED.

UNTIL THE SKY FELL UPON VW AG's HEAD...

UNTIL THE FLOOR COLLAPSE UNDERNEATH THEM...

This is a response to another post in another thread as well...

If the evidence holds that these people KNEW and WILLFULLY FRAUDED the buying public as well as WILLFULLY KNOWING THAT THEIR CARS ARE POLLUTING and NOT WITHIN THE EPA's LIMITS....let these people rot in JAIL!!!

Finally make a bloody example of them so other corrupt EXECS and CEOs CEASE to take US for bloody idiots!!!

Company's and Corporations and the HUMANS THAT RUN THEM have a MORAL Obligation...an ETHICAL Obligation...to

    1. be  moral,

    2. be  honest and not false advertise

    3. to be just  and to treat its employees fairly giving them fair wages and safe environments to work in

    4. to respect the environment it does business in...

VW AG went wrong on 3/4 of those basic things...

There should be a criminal investigation.  Winterkorn stepping down and taking a $30 million bonus to retire is hardly punishment.  That is why these CEO's authorize stuff like this, when the $h! hits the fan, they jump ship with their golden parachute.  Same thing happens on Wall Street and elsewhere.  If theses guys went to jail, you wouldn't see this happen as much.

Will not matter much as we have seen extreme greed and still after prison they get out and still have millions to live very comfy. They need to take the CEO's take EVERYTHING from them and return them to the public as a poor person who has to work to support themselves.

I agree being fired and leaving with a 30 million bonus is not right.

    • Reason # xxx  as to why I love hockey and the players   From the bruising hit that takes the opponent outside the rink and into the player's bench. To the player saying to his teammate to 'hit him' just before the hit happens. To that same player saying that he has got him by calling him chubby but helping him out of the bench area and back unto the ice to the player that got hit laughing it off and skating off to continue on playing as if it was just a minor inconvenience and finally to the athletic trainer just looking at the hit, the player that got hit and visually seeing on his face his thoughts: "yup dude, you just got plastered!" and casually puts the bench back to its place.  The sportsmanship from all sides is incredible. Love it!!!

    • This is an interesting read. Korea is the only country with EVs that are head-to-head with China and in some ways better. This nanotube technology will allow Korea to move way farther forward than the U.S. in automotive options. Advances in carbon nanotube applications enhance battery dry process
    • I got a better idea for Trump: Instead of Canada becoming the 51st state, Id prefer for the US to become Canada's 4rth Territory.  Not even province status. In order for the United Stated Territories of America to become a full blown province, Americans would have to prove their allegiance and loyalty to the Royalty of King Charles the Third since Canada is a Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy of the British Commonwealth realm.  Trump's job and title would be a perfect revival for an old tradition.  King Charles the Third's court jester. And we could throw him a bone...and have a playing card named after him since he likes those kinds of things
