    Saab To Live Again As A Electric Car Maker

    Despite the heavy odds against it, Saab will rise up once more.

    Today, Saab’s bankruptcy administrators, Anne-Marie Pouteaux and Hans L. Bergqvist, announced that National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB has agreed to purchase a majority of Saab. National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB is a consortium made up by Hong Kong-based National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd. and the Japanese investment group Sun Investment LLC.

    The deal includes a production facility, Saab Tools, test facilities, Saab Powertrain, and the 9-3 architecture. Not included intellectual property rights to the 9-4x or 9-5 and Saab Parts. Neither one of the parties would reveal the purchase price.

    At a news conference earlier this morning in Trollhattan, NEVS chief Karl Johan Jiang revealed the that the consortium will use the Saab name. Also, NEVS said their first vehicle would be based on the current Saab 9-3 with Japanese technology and come out sometime in late 2013 or 2014. The vehicle will be built in Trollhattan.

    Why do I see this as the GOV wasting money there to try and save union jobs on a dead product line.

    Electrical plug in SAAB will not save this company. I guess they feel with the down eruo economy, it was probably pennies on the dollar to pick up the pieces and give it a try. At least then when it fails they can say we tried one last time.

    I truly believe CNG is a better focus than Electrical at this time.

    That will be their second car.

    First product for Saab will be a developed 9-3 Electric Car. The 2nd will be a new generation 9-3 built upon the phoenix platform combined with cutting-edge Japanese technology.

    The 9-3 is ancient! good car, maybe there will be a plug in BLS sedan!!!

    Yeah this reeks of govt propping up to save jobs....lol but how is this different than here?

    at least it keeps the brand............

    sucks ass that the 9-5 is not continuing..... I test drove one and really loved it.

      I wont be pushing agendas... I will enforce on myself subject matter to ensure you continue to love the forums here.   You know, car pictures, airplane pics.  Commentary on how I HATE BMWs, Toyotas and SUVs.  Ill add Teslas to that list.  Ill praise Chinese BYDs and Corvettes.  442s and Trans Ams.  But if I hear Trumpster say a lie, I will correct it on the Random Thoughts thread as a rant.   Nothing toxic.  I will be busy daily doing that of course...

      I agree. Not pointing fingers at you.  I TRULY understand that half your country is vile, disgusting, racist and very very uneducated and even more gullible.  But...if you leave, again, not pointing the finger at you, I understand your wish to leave your country, but if everybody leaves, then nobody worth a damn will be able to defend her (the USA) from the vile pigs that are ruining a very awesone country. And I know the US' history quite well. I understand COMPLETELY understand the innuendo about the US.  The US is both a racist, sexist cesspool, but it also is THE BEST place in the world.   There is a reason why France gave the Statue of Liberty to the US as a gift. There is also a reason why France just asked for her back. But the US is worth fighting for...

      Politics is everywhere. You simply cannot escape it. Politics is not garbage. What is garbage is the lies that keep on being said by a certain political party. There is absolutey NOTHING wrong in a CIVIL discussion about ANY kind of political debate. It only becomes toxic when the person involved is toxic him/herself.  Them/They or ANY other pronoun they WISH to choose.   See what I did there? Did you know that a certain political party has already censored that kind of topic and wording? Well, you might not want to see it on a Montreal Canadiens hockey game, but it sure DOES exist at a Montreal Canadiens hockey game...  4 nations hockey game at the MONTREAL arena...      And yesterdays Blue Jays game...  CCAP...you cant escape it.  Trump has REALLY divided us. And THAT is why I care...  And THAT is why I will NOT let lies win the day...     Do you feel it could be you?

      I think Canada has an aging population and an insane southern neighbor. Robin Williams described Canada as a really nice apartment situated above a meth lab, and he was not incorrect.  I don't see sanity in any form returning to the US.  I need to move for my own safety and sanity. If I can put off moving for a few years, it will be easier on me in the long term.  That being said, I love the forums here.  I hear ya.
