    Chevy on track to surpass all-time sales record, Sonic in short supply

    There's reason to believe that the folks over at Chevrolet may have a huge New Year's party soon. The storied marquee turned 100-years old this year and, proving that age will not slow it down, is within reach of surpassing it's all time global sales record. At the end of November, 4.8 million cars worldwide were sold wearing the Bowtie badge and December doesn't show any signs of that pace slowing down.

    It's very impressive, no doubt, but the gravy train doesn't stop there. All of those sales equaled up to Chevrolet increasing it's global market share by one half of a point and sixty percent of all Chevy models are now sold outside of the United States. It's a major step forward for a brand that's now finding itself stepping up to become GM's major global brand, a distinction that was once held by Opel. Growth has been seen in Chevy's newer markets -- China, South Korea, Vietnam, and Europe -- as well as in more familiar markets like South America.

    Back at home in the U.S., Chevrolet's market share is only behind Ford's at 13.7 percent. But with sales nearing an all-time high and dealers only having a 17-day supply of the Chevrolet Sonic on hand, there's a chance Ford may find itself trailing Chevrolet soon.

    I am more concerned about growing the NA market holdings. There is a lot of ground to regain here but with their new cars it should improve things.

    I am just concerned how will the public accept the new Malibu. Is it enough to make and retain gains. I think it will but till I see the car I have some open concern.

    I think the Impala will do very well. They sell the crap out of them as they are I expect a new model will just push them higher.

    I saw a Sonic sedan today on the road. It is a very good looking small sedan. It should sell well.

    As for overall records global sales mean little right now as Chevy has really only now just gone global as one unit. Now show me 5 straight years of gains and I will celebrate.

    The first thing we all need to understand is we can no longer prejudge GM on their cars due to past sins.

    That is why I state more and more wait till you see the car in person before you make any great judgements. They will not all be home runs but they will all at least be in the fight.

      I'm pulling back hard on spending. My vehicles are weeks (300c) or months (Avalanche) from being paid off. The LLC that owns C&G got some new contracts recently and I'm going to be writing off every last thing I can. Both of us may be putting a lot of expensable miles on soon and we might find a cheap EV lease to take advantage of the situation and keep the miles off the ICE vehicles.

      All of that waste is reprocessable back into fuel again, but due to outdated regulations and fear mongering dating back to the 1970s, it is only waste because we say it is waste.  Breeder reactors can extract additional energy out of those nuclear byproducts and turn it back into useable fuel in another type of reactor.  The only reason we don't do that is because it could be used to make bomb quality isotopes.  But if WE are the ones doing it, why are we afraid we might accidentally make the bomb isotopes? The remaining radioactive material left over from those next two steps in the process, if we got out of our own way and did them, would condense the entire container seen above down to a relatively benign thimble size.

      Considering the number of folks that have had their life cut short in Hanford here due to what was supposed to be storage for life of radioactive Liquid, I would say this will fail and contaminate the earth, animals or humans in a new and destructive way. Honestly, I remember this from the news and the science behind it that it is the best way to store Nuclear waste, as a glass solid and then put it into an underground bunker like the old salt mines in the SW. SRS - Programs - Waste Solidification QUOTE: The largest radioactive waste glassification plant in the world, DWPF converts the high-level liquid nuclear waste currently stored at the Savannah River Site (SRS) into a solid glass form suitable for long-term storage and disposal. Scientists have long considered this glassification process, called “vitrification,” as the preferred option for immobilizing high-level radioactive liquids into a more stable, manageable form until a federal repository is ready.
