  1. Interesting ideas. Now that I've received a few untainted responses I'll reveal the whole situation. A 26-year-old friend of mine recently got engaged to a 37-year-old man. He knows that I've slept with her before. This was a long time ago, I would never knowingly help someone cheat. He has kids from a previous marriage. The 16-year-old who was trying to get with me was his daughter. Now you understand why I said no? :AH-HA_wink: I don't even want to know what he would do to me if he found out. It made me think though, if I wasn't in that situation and it was just some other random 16-year-old, would I? So that's why I started this thread, just wanted to see what others thought.
  2. Hmmm... just checked the laws, actually in Canada it's 14*. Nasty. Now that IS definately wrong. *18 if the person is a caregiver
  3. Not sure if everyone has heard of this 'rule' so here's an explanation. The youngest age of person you should be going after (sexually) is half your age plus seven years. ie. I am 24. 1/2 of 24 is 12, plus 7 is 19. So 18 and lower is wrong. Then I have other friends who tell me that as long as everything is legal, what's the problem? Anyone 16 and up in Ontario is free game. So... if I refuse to have sex with a 16 year old girl, does that make me a chump or a decent human being?
  4. I showed her both, she said they were too small.
  5. VW Eos: A consideration. Volvo hardtop (C70): $55k, too much. 9-3 convertible: $55k, too much. Astra XR: Not powerful enough. GTI / A3 / Mini: The wagon-hatchback shape is a 'no' for her. Sky: She needs to haul things once in a while, so all roadsters are out. Grand Prix: WAAAAY too long.
  6. My mother is looking to trade her 2003 Eclipse GT in on something new. The car barely fits in the garage as-is, so we have a very limited length requirement of 190" or under. She wants it to be under $40k, but not necessarily that high. She wants something "not too June Cleaver-ish" in her words. 2-door is desired but can be overlooked if she likes the design. Same for a convertible top. She's already told me that the G6 would be OK but the new Malibu is a little too family-looking for her. Since she is coming from a 200 hp V6, something of at least similar performance would also be a requirement. I'm trying to come up with possibilities. All I can really come up with is: Eclipse (new) Mustang G6 Altima coupe VW Eos Sebring and Solara are too long. Accord is slightly too long, and too "old" of a nameplate. 3-series and C-class are too expensive. Thoughts??
  7. The natives tried to claim land here in Canada as well. It had been given to their ancestors, and sold back to white people in the years since. However they still claim it. wikipedia - Caledonia land dispute
  8. Am I... 1. Young 2. Urban 3. Professional ??? Yes. Am I a traditional "YUPPIE"? No. The term needs to be redefined.
  9. Oh and as far as frame makes go, I have a Kona and love it. Also I'm impressed by the Canadian company Rocky Mountain. It makes me think - if we can do such a good job competing in markets like that, what would a Canadian car company have been like?
  10. I swear by SRAM for chains. Don't know their shifters, and I'm quite happy with my Shimanos. Derailleurs too. Grip shifters drive me nuts, gotta have click-push shifters. V-Brakes also drive me nuts. It really scares me to ride a bike without discs now, it feels like I'm going to crash when the brakes don't respond. My current derailleur is what's called a "rapid rise", which was known as a "retard rise" when it came out due to crappy components - but components have now caught up to the idea. Basically it flips around the shifting on the rear derailleur, so that both shifters go in the same direction - click down (less cable pressure) to make it more difficult to pedal, push up (more cable pressure) to make it less difficult. It takes some getting used to but it really helps... When you're leaned forward trying to make it up a big hill and you need an easier gear, you can just click on the front of the bars rather than trying to apply pressure from the back. Much easier to do. My fork has been slowly dying on me ever since I bought my bike. I couldn't be bothered to fix it, time or money-wise. It's basically a rigid at this point. Maybe some day I'll shell out for a dual suspension setup, but personally I find the front without the back kind of pointless... or maybe my fork just always sucked.
  11. Somebody should email one of the managers a URL to this thread.
  12. What kind of forum is this becoming???
  13. See my signature. I'm not changing it anytime soon, based on that picture.
  14. So.. you mean the 2.2 needs a VTEC sticker? :AH-HA_wink:
  15. Someone stated in the Astra thread that they were impressed by the fuel economy from the 1.8L, so I decided to look up the specs on the website. According to GM Canada: Astra 3-door: manual - 33 hwy / 46 city auto - 34 hwy / 43 city 138 hp / 125 ft/lb Cobalt 2.2L: manual - 31 hwy / 48 city auto - 31 hwy / 44 city 148 hp / 152 ft/lb Considering the 10 hp, 27 ft/lb loss going from the 2.2l to the 1.8l, I don't think that 2-3 highway mpg gained and 1-2 city mpg lost is very impressive. Thoughts?
  16. 19! Sweeet! Going to get drunk tonight!!! Oh wait... America, right... you have to be 21. :AH-HA_wink:
  17. That second one sounds like a short film a hippie might make. :AH-HA_wink:
  18. Either a Mazda 3 or a Fit. There really aren't many other American cars that appeal to me. At all. There's the Fusion but that doesn't really count.
  19. Don't talk about my future wife like that. I kill you so bad.
